Montecarlo Hotel - Rom

Das Hotel ist absolut in Ordnung. Die Zimmer sind zwar nicht übermäßig groß (gebucht haben wir ein Doppelzimmer), aber sehr sauber und zweckmäßig eingerichtet. Beim Check-in (1:00 Uhr Nachts) mussten wir zunächst in ein Einzelzimmer, da kein Doppelzimmer frei war. Am nächsten Tag haben wir dann aber ein Doppelzimmer bekommen. Nice hotel in a quiet location. A walk from the centre but not too far, about 20 minutes but very convenient for both metro lines. Very helpful staff. I would have scored it higher if it wasn't for the far too firm bed plus it was two singles pushed together to make a double which I don't like personally

Good location, convenient to Terminii (10 mins). Hotel and room were clean, staff were helpful and polite. Breakfast was continental style and ample. All in all a good base to explore Rome from (5 minutes walk to nearest metro station.

The hotel is about 5mins walk to Castro Pretorio metro, which is the blue line. However, it is also a 10min walk to Repubblica which is the red line and saves you going to Termini and avoiding all the people. plenty of buses around as well. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis regardless of how […] late we left our rooms. The only small thing about the hotel is there is no dining area. So be sure to eat before you come back to the hotel. They have a small bar and there is also a TV/Computer area where you can sit. There was a group of guys in there one evening playing cards. Our room was facing the main road. One night we were kept awake by tourists being very loud oustide, but that can happen anywhere. We were there for 4 nights. So it doesn't happen often. People have mentioned problems with the lift but we never had any problems. All-in-all a very happy customer. Mehr

The hotel was a converted mansion and has several rooms. They are not too big, but you still have plenty of room to move around and store your stuff. Includes a closet, desk, nightstands and full bathroom. Shower was skinny...knocked over toiletries every day. Was about 4 blocks from a train station so it that was nice. Within walking distance to Bernini's […] fountain, SPanish Steps and Trevi Fountain (furthest of the three). Would stay again. The hotel is within walking distance to Roma Termini and Republica - 15-20 minutes. If you have luggage it can be quite bumpy pulling your bags because the sidewalks are quite narrow and paved with cobblestone. The room was clean and so was the bathroom. Many tourists have commented about the size of bathrooms in Rome hotels being too small, but the […] Montecarlo bathroom itself was quite big. The shower stall is very tight though. The linen was clean. This was our first trip to Rome so without anything else to compare to and with all the negative reviews we had read about other hotels, we thought this hotel provided us with a clean, safe, and comfortable base from where to to visit Rome. If you have not pre-paid for breakfast, it is around ten Euros per head which we thought was high. If you turn right from the hotel entrance, there is a small cafe about 5 minutes down the road on Via Goito "Caffe Demarci" where we had pastries and two Americano coffees for less than 5 Euros. If you plan on taking the hop-on hop-off tour do some research about the different tour companies and their rates. The front desk at Montecarlo will try to sell you tickets for the "Ciao Roma" tour company. They get a commission and basically you pay them the commission and pay the remainder to the tour company at the time of boarding. The "Ciao Roma" was never on time, had less frequent buses, and one time when they were running late, they just skipped the last stop so we had to walk for 45 minutes to get to the hotel. Tours are taxed so inquire about this because the front desk did not mention this at the time they sold us the tickets. We would definitely stay at the Montecarlo again. Mehr

This hotel is conveniently located only a 5min walk from Rome's main station. The neighbourhood consists mainly of other hotels so you have to go for a bit of a walk to find food. The hotel itself was clean and well presented, the standard room was a good size as well as the bathroom. The staff could have been more helpful - the phone in the room wasn't […] working and we went down to report it, our room number was written down but then nothing was done to fix the problem. We also had a tour booked to pick us up from the hotel in the morning and the conceirge was not very helpful, seemed more interested in standing out the front smoking than actually communicating with the guests. Overall the hotel is in a relatively good location as it's only a 15 minute walk to the centre of Rome and close to the main station. Mehr

it is bit far from Termini station. 25 min walking. Since i was carring baggage, it was not that great. the rest is Ok. but - NO FREE INTERNET.

Person at reception (during the day) can speak very good English and he was always ready to help or give advise. The location is very good, very close to Rome's main station and a easy walk from there. A few embassies in the area with soldiers keeping a look out. Friday night was dead quiet, but Saturday evening got a bit noisy. A pleasant stay overall […] with good breakfast and would recommend this hotel to my friends and family. Mehr

I was very pleased with my stay at the Montecarlo Hotel- The front dest staff was friendly and helpful, and spoke very good English. They recommended restaurants, gave directions, and had the answers to everything we needed. We were a little concerned about the hotel, because the other reviews mentioned adult entertainment venues, and made it seem […] as though they were across the street. We found where they were one night, because we walked a different way after dinner. There is a lot to say about the hotel. We had two reservations with this hotel. One at the beginning of our trip and the second one at the end of our trip. When we arrived at the Montecarlo for the first time, there was some trouble with the water and they sent us to another hotel half a block from there. The second night we checked finally checked […] into the hotel. For the inconvenience we got breakfast free the first morning but we still could not check in until noon and since we were not going to wait we left only the luggage but keep our backpack which my husband carry during the whole day because we didn't return to the hotel until later in the afternoon. Other than it was a really nice stay, the room was clean, the turkish shower was pretty good. When we arrived the second time, first we were received by the front desk assistant that works the night and who is not very helpful at all. The first thing was that the hotel's only elevator was broken, and our room was in the fifth floor, imagine we had two luggages of 20 and 30 pounds each one, so I asked the front desk to change our rooms, that was not possible so how I was going to able to carry our luggage, he then started to get a little frustated with me and I was already frustated with him, finally we got to the agreement to use the maintenance elevator in which we have to make two trips because it is so small that we just couldn't fit with our luggage. We got to the room and the air conditioner was not working, we went down to complain and the guy was just really frustated with us and there was no solution until the morning, we went out to dinner and after that we tried back the air conditioner once more and it worked, the second night we realized that the air conditioner was working only after 10 PM, somehow they control the air conditioner because during the day if you put one the air conditioner after five minutes it goes off again. We found the hotel to be better than expected. Based on experiences at other European hotels, we found this to be above average. Service from the staff was decent. We had no problems communicating in English, and the staff was friendly. Good location. Felt safe. Just a short walk to the train station. We even found many of the tourist sights to be within […] a reasonable walking distance. Room was clean (very blue with cool fabric wallpaper). Free safe. Decent TV. Small fridge. The Good - 10 min walk from the train station, nice/clean/comfortable rooms. great staff,very helpful kept the luggage for 3 extra days while traveling elsewhere. The dark -Shower is small/internet is very expensive 15Euros/day.

The hotel was only a ten minute walk from the Roma Termini main train station which made it very convenient. The neighborhood was very good as my daughter and I ventured out most nights to explore the restaurants and cafes. The hotel is also within a few minutes walking distance to both Metro A and B lines. The hotel room itself was a disappointment for the price as I wouldn't pay more than $30 to $40 dollars U.S. back in the states for a room of this quality. The shower head would not stay up, the shower was so small you could barely turn around in it, the television only provided two channels that were english speaking (BBC and CNN) and the hotel charged $1 Euro for every ten minutes of wireless internet access. If you're on a real tight budget and don't expect much from the room, this is the hotel for you. Mehr

Great value for your money, quality and decor was excellent. Front desk spoke very good english, and helpful in all areas. Easy walk to metro/bus station. Enjoyed our stay in Rome.

The hotel staff was great. We stayed in a quad room. Two adults and two teenagers. Barely had room to walk between beds and no place to put luggage. Room was clean. Common areas of hotel were nice. Bathroom was small. No more than one person could be in there at a time. Location was fine. This was my first time to visit Rome so I'm not familiar with […] what the standard neighborhood is like but this one did not seem exceptional either way. Prices of items in mini bar very reasonable. Hotel highlight was the friendliness of the staff. Hotel is not in a great location, although it is walkable to all the main sights - good walking. Hotel is a bit dated, bed was really hard & lighting grim. Although there is nothing wrong, it is not a hotel you want to spend much time. It does the job however...

Clean and comfortable room. Hotel located at walking distance from all major subway and train lines. Breakfast was OK but could be improved.

Distance to central railway station was 10 min. by foot. It was easy to catch buses from railways station to any destination into the city. (Trams are also near hotel.) Was worried about the adjacent XXX movie theater from reading the reviews. No reason to worry, the place is not even noticeable. (There is no noise, no foot traffic and no pictures on […] the windows.) The hotel was older but clean. The breakfast buffet was also much better than we had expected. A large variety of rolls and cresant-type breads have been added to the sweet rolls, cereal, yoghurt etc. All staff was pleasant and we were able to leave our bags after check-out to do a little sightseeing - we would stay again. This hotel is very easy to find, the neighborhood is ok nothing to worry about and there are several convienient resuarants. It takes about 10 minutes and two turns to get to the train and metro stations. The staff is helpful and the rooms are clean. Only thing needed is english language tv, and yes I know you're in Rome:)

Some of the staff were very nice, others were rude. The rooms were cleaned daily, but were overall dirty (the carpet was very worn and brown). Bathroom was extremely small, shower was practically unusable (I am a petite, average weight college student). Air conditioning is difficult to adjust, it is either too hot or too cold. Also, the air blows right […] in the face of the person who sleeps on the closer bed. Location is convenient to Termini, but further away than they would have you think. Literally around the corner from a porn theater. Down the street from armed guards. In a safe neighborhood, with a close by grocery store. It was pretty cheap, and some of the staff made the stay pretty pleasant, but I think you can find better in the neighborhood for the same price. Mehr

This hotel was overpriced relative to hotels in the area. There is a XXX Movie Theatre next door and it is NOT within walking distance from Termini if you have to drag luggage. In the evening, I would not consider the neighborhood 'safe.' None of the concierges were helpful and one was even condescending. La ubicación esta bien. Cerca de república. La zona es segura porque esta rodeado por embajadas. Las habitaciones son amplias y el hotel en general esta bien

Stort rum, bra service. Inte handikappvänligt eller barnvagnsvänligt, tyvärr. Kuddarna var väldigt osköna, jag fick nackspärr sista natten. Bra att det låg hyfsat nära tåg- och bussstationen.

Et lite hotell med OK rom, sentralt beliggende. Liten bar som manglet det meste. Helt grei frokost. Vi kommer nok til å bå her også neste gang!

Kohtuuhintainen melko rauhallisella paikalla oleva hotelli. Huoneemme sivukadun puolella, johon kuului jonkin verran liikenteen ym ääniä. Hissi remontissa, mutta onneksi huone "vain" 3.kerroksessa. Hotellin kautta tilattua lentokenttäkuljetusta ei kentällä ollut! Ei myöskään mitenkään erityisesti pahoiteltu. Jouduimme tulemaan bussilla ja hotellilla […] vasta klo yksi yöllä. Muuten ystävällinen hlökunta. Hotellin baarissa kalliit hinnat eikä jäitä eikä hintaan kuuluvia naposteltavia (joita pahoiteltiin, mutta silti täysi hinta juomista) Mehr

God beliggenhed - dog skal man være opmærksom på at der skal benyttes offentlige transportmidler til centrum. Ligger godt i forhold til hovedbanegården. Venligt personale og meget rent på hotellet.

O hotel é muito luxuoso e a localização é bom, (10 a 15 minutos do terminal central). O que não achei bom, foi o preço do café da manhã (EUR 10) e da internet (EUR 1 por 10 minuto).

Erittäin ystävällinen palvelu. Huoneissa ilmastointi ja ikkunat pihalle eli hyvä nukkua, siisti. Sijainti kohtuullisen hyvä.

Et helt midt på treet hotell. Rommet var lite, men ok. Stort og ålreit bad. Senga var veldig hard, det samme med hodeputa. Beliggenheten er grei nok, ca 5-10 gange fra Termini, men på "feil side" av Termini iforhold til sentrum. Vi hadde ikke frokost inkludert og er i grunn fornøyde med det da vi kikket på utvalget (ikke egg, ikke skinke, ost, kun syltetøy, […] men det er jo søt frokost som er tingen i Italia). Huone, jossa yövyimme, oli aivan uusi. Vaikka se oli katutasossa, ikkunat kadulle päin, ei kadun meteli yöllä häirinnyt ikkunan läpi. Hotellilla aamupala kuului varaukseen, mikä saattoi olla pienoinen virhe, etenkin henkilölle, joka ei syö lihaa. Aamupalalla tarjottiin sömpylöitä, makeita leivoksia, jugurttia ja mysliä sekä juustoa ja leikkeleitä. Kahvi/ […] tee kuului hintaan. Jäin kaipaamaan esimerkiksi kananmunaa. Henkilökunta puhui hyvin englantia ja auttoi asiakkaita mielellään. Hotelli on hyvin lähellä sekä Terminin pääasemaa, että Castro Pretorion asemaa (vielä lähempänä) joista pääsi hyvin liikkumaan metrolla ja junalla. *HYVIÄ* (luetaan edullisia ja laadukkaita, tai oikeasti italialaisia) ravintoloita hotellin lähellä ei tuntunut paljon olevan, joten kävimmekin muissa kaupunginosissa syömässä. Parasta roomassa on antaa itsensä eksyä pikkukujille kaikessa rauhassa löytämään uusia seikkailuja. Mehr
