Zimmer: Mein Freund und ich haben eine Nacht in diesem Hotel übernachtet. Es hat uns gut gefallen, das Zimmer war groß, bat viel Stauraum (Kommoden, Nachttische, Schrank) und Platz zum gemütlichen Sitzen. Es gab einen Fernseher, einen Föhn und ein Bügelbrett. Das Bett war riesig. An unserem Raum 118 störte uns, dass er direkt neben dem Küchengenerator […] lag und es tagsüber bis etwa 22 Uhr abends sehr stark brummte , sodass man nicht wirklich im Zimmer sitzen konnte. Bad: Das Bad war behindertengerecht eingerichtet, sprich sehr geräumig und große ebenerdige Dusche zum "reinfahren". Lage: Das Hotel liegt im gleichen Gebäude wie der Bahnhof, was jedoch in keinster Weise stört, da der Bahnhof ein Sackbahnhof ist und die Züge langsam rein und rausfahren, sodass man sie nicht gehört hat, selbst mit Zimmerblick auf den Bahnhof. Des Weiteren liegt das Hotel direkt in der City, man kann abends gut rausgehen und die Bars abklappern oder Nachmittags bequem shoppen gehen, ohne große Strecken zurücklegen zu müssen. Service: Die Frau an der Rezeption schien schwer beschäftigt, wodurch der Freundlichkeitsfaktor nicht besonders hoch war, jedoch ok. Man kann bei Bedarf auf dem Zimmer frühstücken und es gibt einen Nachtportier, bei dem man auch Nachts Sandwiches bestellen kann. Frühstück: Es gab ein großes Buffet mit diversen Cerealien, Wurst, Käse, diversen Aufstrichen, Toast, englisches Frühstück, diverse Säfte, frisches Obst, Kaffee und Tee etc. also sehr reichhaltig. Zimmer sind sauber, Service ist OK, Freundliche Mitarbeiter, Organisation des Früstück manchmal etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig, nur eine Servicekraft bringt Kaffee und Toast an den Tisch, das kann dauern, Angebot aber reichhaltig

Grundsätzlich absolut empfehlenswert. Aber Achtung: bei der Buchung darauf bestehen, das das Zimmer ohne Bahnanschluss sein soll. Leider ist dies bei Zimmer 121 nicht so; aus der Zimmertür und dann 2 Meter nach links und schon steht man nahezu auf dem Bahnsteig.

The down stairs to this hotel is lovely until you go up stairs and the rooms we were in were in the attic and they were very dated , really need updating. The food was lovely and the breakfast. Would not stay here again unless the bedroom got decorated.

Beautiful historic hotel with charm.

stayed for 3 nights during my birthday weekend and on mentioning in the passing that it was my 65th birthday my husband and i were given a free upgrade of room and special treats, however prior to the staff knowing of my birthday we were treated very well indeed. would definitely come back again.

Good hotel, very central. No faults.

Great location right next door to rail station. Off the train and in the hotel within 2mins. Hotel, although it looks very grand downstairs could do with a upstairs revamp. The rooms are very dull. Good place for an over night stay or two.

We came up by train and as this is the old station hotel, it was very easy for tired travellers to find.You can't beat the location and the cleanliness of the rooms. We were very disapointed that the internet was unusable due to poor signal strength and the front desk ladies, save one, could hardly be bothered to be helpful.I would still recommend this […] hotel to others despite our disappointments. This would be a magnificent hotel if it had a fortune spent on it. Unfortunately that's not going to happen. So, like the Titanic, (the ship owners copied the hotels staircase) it's sinking. Nothing really works once you leave the bar and reception area. For instance the wifi uses one of the cheapest and oldest routers still around, a simple thing to […] fix but as one of the few Scottish people working in the hotel said (with the shrug of the shoulders of someone who has heard it all before) 'I'm not Management'. The Eastern Europeans working there are very pleasant. The Scottish breakfast is wonderful and the hotel is central, sadly there's not a lot else in it's favour it's sliding into decay and the rates will have to reduce to reflect this. A downward spiral. Would definitely recommend for location, value for money, comfort and helpfulness of staff. Will stay again!

This is the second stay at your hotel and we loved it.It is nice and bright and we love the beds ,they are very firm and we always get a good night sleep.

The Royal Highland Hotel, as the former station hotel, is of course very convenient for Inverness railway station. 10 meters from the main entrance of the station, is the entrance to the hotel. It is an imposing stone building, convenient to the centre of Inverness and should you not wish to eat in the hotel, there are plenty of restaurants nearby. […] My room was a single room, not large but quite well appointed with full size bath in the en-suite. The room is equipped with iron and ironing board, even an umbrella. Mehr

After a long train journey it was a welcome sight to see the hotel was literally next to the station. We had a couple of really lovely big rooms which was great for the baby cot we had provided. The lobby area was also a really good place to meet family the next day over a relaxing coffee. We'll definitely come back.

I stayed at the Royal Highland Hotel in Nov. 2011. It was perfecct place to stay . Arrived on the 5 pm train from London and departed the next day at 7 am for Thurso. A pleasant as well as convenient place AND that fabulous plaid carpet!

Very convenient. Room 328 some of the wall paper needs attending to. Good breakfast times eg 7am start for early travel. Not that it effected me,but VERY limited parking,right outside of hotel. Only adverse comment,when I tried to check in,along with several others,at 3pm,we were asked to wait ten minutes whilst they completed a paper work exercise! You […] never get a second chance to make a first impression. Enough said!! Mehr

The staff were unprofessional and unorganized. We arrived at 14.50 to check in and was told rudely that check in was at 3 pm, so we sat in the bar and had a drink. At 15.05 we went to check in and was told not asked to wait 5 mins whilst they sorted the paperwork out. Whilst we waited we heard comments from the staff that she only had £1.50 to her name […] and that her wadges had been "screwed up". Several other customers came in to check in and were all told to wait as the paperwork had not been done yet with no appology or reason why it hadn't been done. Once the paperwork was completed customers started to check in but one couple came back down to the reception as they could not find their room. When we went to check in we were then told that we had a twin room for my partner and I, and was told that they were fully booked. A gentleman also checking in said that we could swap rooms with him as he had a double and did not mind the twin room. The receptionists tried to swap the rooms over but got terribly confussed and realised that the gentleman did not have a double as told but also a twin, to which one of the receptionists said "my head hurts and I done think its due to the beer I had last night". Upon eventually finding the room, understanding how the previous couple got lossed, I truss to access the hotels WiFi as advertised on their website and a reason why I chose that hotel. I could not find any details in the information book so I rang down to reception. They did not have a list of the WiFi network names and as I am security conscious I like to know what network I'm connecting to. She then told me the password for the WiFi and when I tried it, it failed. I called reception again and told them but they just replied with "oh, I don't know then" and left it at that with no WiFi access. My partner was curious and suggested that I range reception from my mobile phone and requested a double room for this evening. So I did and was told that there was a double room av Mehr

stayed for 4 nights , stayed here because it said room service was available and wanted to surprise my husband on our wedding anniversary with breakfast in bed but was dissapointed that the web site didnt state that the room service only do continental breakfast and not the full scottish breakfast, the room was very clean, the only thing that was a […] pain was the parking, no spaces available when we arrived, but the receptionist told us to park on the keep clear sign !went to the ASH restaurant in the hotel for our anniversary which was fab great service and got 20% of our bill because we stayed in the hotel. I would go back to this hotel !!! Mehr

It probably didn't help that my room overlooked the neighbouring train station and as a result I shared all the noises that go with that, but I felt that the hotel was really just for those who like nostalgia (tired nostalgia). If you are a business traveler beware! The wireless internet did not work, and when I called to get it working the suggested […] solution was to come down to the lobby if it was really important. Also, note that although they boast complimentary parking there are only 8 spaces available (one of which was taken by one of their vehicles the whole time). They boast heated towel rails, but that didn't work either. I guess in their favour, they are wonderfully located for walking around town. I won't stay there again though. Mehr

This is an old time station hotel that retains a bit of its old charm. The taps in my room screached into action at times but its clean and friendly with a lovely stairway in teh main lobby. Due to it location by the rail station this is a very convenient hotel to explore Inverness itself and for avoiding last minute rush to the station on your departure. […] (The bus station is also just around the corner)There is FREE wi-fi access which is always a bonus in hotels. I normally stay in other hotels in Inverness, but would keep this one in my list for the future. Mehr

We loved the character of this hotel - the bathroom was amazing. Top quality! The foyer was a little tired, but they were looking at carpet swatches, and i think that's all it needs to spruce it up. not many parks out the front, but we still got a space - twice. I think most people arrived by train (which is right next door/under the hotel)

Good value for the price. Room was warm and couldn't control temperature.

Very close to station therefore convenient for travelling. They could provide a much improved late night sandwich service. My experiance of this was expensive and disgusting. There is absolutely no excuse for such a poor service

There were no parking spots when we arrived so we had to pay to park in a structure a few blocks away; later we got a parking spot. There are about 10 of them and some more open at night, but have to be vacated by morning. Otherwise it was an excellent hotel, with helpful staff and a great room and location

Very pleasant stay. Have stayed again. Restaurant food very nice.

You can tell this hotel was "the" hotel in an earlier time. You could sense the history. While a little dated (carpet) it was very clean and well taken care of. We arrived by train so the location was perfect! Good restaurants and pubs within an easy walk. Felt safe.

I was extremely disappointed by the level of cleanliness of the hotel room. The room smelled very badly of cigarette smoke and actually stopped us from getting a good night sleep. I would not book this hotel based on the experience we had with the state of our room. the location of the hotel was good as it is right next to inverness train station.

A beautiful example of Victoriana, the 'Titanic' staircase by itself is worth staying for. The hotel needs a refurb. and that would cost. The rooms are ok except for the lighting but are small and tired. Flat screen tv and the inevitable 3 sheepdog painting (Bonny Prince and Charlie) dominate. The staff are good breakfast didn't quite make it, quality […] and, being a buffet, quantity ok but not very warm. Free wifi but if you need it check it out before you unpack it's a bit flaky in some rooms but they will move you. Being an old station hotel it's very central and has a charm which makes it's quirkiness pale into insignificance. Mehr

We arrived at the hotel not knowing what to expect as website reviews were mixed. The location was perfect - right in the centre of town. Only about 5 parking spaces out front of the hotel, although there is a large carpark just along the road which costs about £6.60 for overnight parking. The hotel reception was a spacious area with seating and well […] decorated. A large open staircase gave it a grand feel. Our room was on the 2nd floor so it was nice to have the lift for taking our bags up the stairs. The only thing that I would say against this hotel is that the tatty decor in the corridors make it look so old fashioned and shabby. If the corridors had some money spent on them it would make such a difference. Then to our room. Upon opening the door I was expecting a tiny room and was worried that it would be noisy (the entrance to the railway station is right next to the hotel entrance). I need not have worried about either as the room was a good size and the bathroom was almost just as big. It was nice to have extra touches like the bottles of water, boiled sweets, good quality toiletries etc. Although breakfast was not included in our package we were right in the centre of town and there were plenty places round about to eat. If I need hotel accommodation in Inverness again, this is the hotel I would choose. It is so conveniently locataed, traditional, hospitable and very comfortable.

The hotel is very central, right next door to the train station. Although dated the hotel is very comfortable and the breakfast buffet was very good.

fantastic location, very friendly and helpful staff. Delicious food served in the restaurant and all at a great price. Definitely book again.

Stayed at this hotel before and was disappointed with breakfast. Decided to give it another go but the hotel room was small the breakfast was terrible. Unfortunately will not give this hotel a third chance. Its decor is bad with holes in the roof in the dining room, walls need painting and rooms small and in need of redecorating.

We booked a short weekend break in Inverness and picked up quite a good price for a double room at the Royal Highland. As the name suggests, it's an old hotel but it has been kept fresh with refits while retaining a classic hotel feeling. The bedroom wasn't huge and the bed was fine rather than wonderful but the bathroom was an absolute treat - a shower […] that seemed to blast you with Scottish water and a bath fit for a good wallow. Breakfast was included but even if it wasn't, I'd highly recommend paying extra for it. The buffet is packed with all sorts, from haggis to lorne sausages, bacon, eggs (fried and scrambled), fresh rounds of tea and toast made fresh for you with several members of staff on hand, happy for you to have as much as you like. There's also the usual continental style breakfast and cereals if you eat light. Each member of staff we spoke to seemed only too happy to help and we left with a very positive impression and a firm intention to book there again the next time we visit. Definitely recommended. good hotel good location, staff nice, I like the attention to details in the room, ie headed writing paper, a pencil, sweets, and bottled water, you can see they have thought about it. breakfast was good with great staff running round making sure everything was there for you thanks everyone
