Out of town location but close to main roads,Metro and bus routes. Lots to see and do close by.

While at the hotel the stay was ok. There were a few functions/birthday parties on over the weekend and there were kids running around at 11:30 at night which i thought was out of order and it put a dampner on our night as it was noisy. Also there was a dirty plate and dish with food in them both which was left all weekend in the corridor which i thought […] very un-hygienic. Other than that the rooms were clean and comfortable. Lovely hotel can't fault the decor and layout. Arrived on sat afternoon and the only dinner reservation was for 9.30pm (too late for us). Idea to book in advance if taking the DBB option. Had a meal in the bar instead - Average standard, great service by the lads at the bar but typical pub food. Sat night we heard every door bang ALL night as revelers […] returned from nights out. Should have chosen a Sun & Mon night instead of Sat / Sun. Also Hotel very poorly signposted. Sat nav takes you to business park then you spend 20 mins looking for the hotel. Staff friendly, leisure facilities are best i'v seen in the UK. We walked 1.5 miles to Franky & Bennys and had our Sunday meal. We went as a middle aged couple and would go back again to this hotel but the stress of not being able to find the place and then not getting a decent meal time spoiled it for us. Mehr

Great hotel, fantastic gym.. one of the best in the Village group except possibly Solihull. I have stayed at most hotels in this group and always found them to be friendly and welcoming.. Newcastle kept up that reputation. I will definitely be staying here again next time I'm in the North East.

Bought as a present for xmas,lovely rooms,food great and excellent leisure facilities

We stay at the Village every year between Christmas and New year. What a great disappointment the first room allocated to us was very small and no chairs to sit on just the bed. We booked to stay for 4 nights this was unacceptable. We spoke to the staff at reception and they were most unhelpful and I quickly ask to speak to the on duty manager who then […] offered us a bigger room with a sofa. We finally had got settled into our room but them the guests who were staying in the room above us obviously could not control their children as the were constantantly jumping off the bed and running up and down in the room which did not go down well at 11pm till 2am. Children running up and down the corridors, up and down in the lift unsupervised without their parents obviously too busy at the bar to even think twice where the little darlings may be. Breakfast was very poor and there have been quite a few changes to the hotel in the respect to dining. The restaurant Buca is quite expensive but if you go to the Victory pub there are great deals on during the week which is quite nice. It's a shame that the standards of this hotel have dropped considerably. Will I stay at this hotel again not to sure. Mehr

We stayed at the Village hotel and found the place to be of the highest of standards, with very accommodating staff; Especially AA Annie who gave me directions over the phone after being lost, we also received very good advice about the transport into Newcastle etc.

The hotel itself is fine, however I wouldn't go back. The walls are paper thin - the guy snoring in the next room kept me awake all night. The beds are ok but not especially comfy, the room itself was fine but very dimly lit. The chair in my room was broken which made it very difficult to sit on to do my work in the evening. The bedside lights also […] were broken. As I was only staying for one night I didn't see the point in calling the hotel handyman. I requested a 'wake up call' for 7am but the phone never rang. Also the food in the pub side of the hotel was served up very overdone. Not great, but the hotel was in a good location for where I needed for work and I managed to get a few hours' sleep there so it wasn't all bad! Mehr

Everything was good apart from it cost £20 for taxi from Newcastle centre and is in middle of nowhere. The breakfast was good but the breakfast room is very small and it is cramped and we had to queue 20 minutes to get in.

Stayed overnight at Village as part of a weekend away with my boyfriend. As we were going to various parts of Newcastle and Northumberland both days, this was a fairly central location. We chose it partly for the leisure facilities, which were great. We particularly wanted the use of a pool, which was sizeable and enjoyed the jacuzzi, steam room and […] sauna. The changing rooms were large and very clean. Breakfast was brilliant, our room was clean, comfortable and modern and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We left something in our room and it was no trouble at all getting it back. The bathroom was nice and very clean also and when we asked for a taxi to be ordered in the evening it was called promptly and arrived very shortly after. 2 night stay for Great North Run Loads of run information and services put on by the hotel, including early breakfast, free bottled water and free pasta meal in the evening. Very friendly and helpful staff, especially considering there were 2 very loud and disruptive guests having an argument/fight in the hall outside our room in the wee hours. Fabulous swimming pool, good Italian restaurant, children loved it! Room met requirements and reasonably priced. Room at front of hotel and window open as very warm, guests at a wedding outside till 3am kept us awake!!!

We stayed at this hotel to attend a wedding there and booked it through Hotel.com They must be paying the staff too much because all of them, without exception were happy and full of smiles. They were also very courteous and did all they could to ensure we were looked after well during our stay. The room was large and well furnished and was also clean […] and tidy. Drinks were expensive - a pint of lager and a small wine was £8.05p - OK if your from down south but o.t.t. up here. If you are there all day, as we were, it soon adds up. That and the noise generated by other guests both in the large hotel itself and from outside during the night were the only downside. The included full english breakfast the following moring soon made up for that though - buffet style fill your plate up job ! I would go back again and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the area without hesitation. Mehr

The room was fine very comfortable bed quick check in good leisure facilities and lively bar and restaurant. after using the pool i took a shower in my room to find the shower heas had a large black mark which turned out to be mildew!! I personally cleaned this off and also wiped marks off the wall tiles and the edge of the bath where the silicone goes […] around the shower screen was dirty and mouldy. Surely this room had been cleaned it was not dirty in the bedroom but the cleaning was very very poor in the bathroom. There were also a lot of hairs in a pile on the floor too- obviously missed when it was mopped!! I asked for more towels and reported the cleaning or lack of it. I was given a tub of soap to take to the room and no further mention of a cleaner going in. i feel this really let the hotel down - it a lively vibrant place but i dont really want to be checking the cleanliness when i pay good money to stay there. it was dismissed on checkout when i mentioned it again to a different receptionist and was told the cleaning staff had been informed and it was being looked into. !!! She said it was not good enough but we were not offered any compensation or grace.... Mehr

sadl we had booked for two nights and we booked out early after first morning. staff were not concerned we left early. room especially ensuite was filthy.

An excellent location for seeing the popular sights of Northumberland.Although the hotel was full due to it being a Bank Holiday and Take That were playing at the Stadium of Light the service was very efficient especially at breakfast time where there was always a good selection of hot and cold food. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the […] leisure facilities great. The only downside was people smoking just outside the entrance. I feel they should be directed further away from the main doors. Would certainly stay here again. Mehr

The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in, The Bedding was top quality. The only down side to my stay was that I had to leave the hotel at 7.30 with no breakfast "although was paid for " because they don't start breakfast until 7'30. This is not good when you have paid for a breakfast and dont get it because the hotel do not cater […] for people who have to be on the road early. Staying at the Village Hotel on Cobalt with it's swimming pool and gym has started me on a new road to fitness. Not motivated to join a gym, I decided to have a swim in the pool for a bit of fun. An excellent hotel with modern facilities, good bar and goood food selection, although just a bit pricy. Leisure facilities including 25m swimming pool and spa bath are first class and completely free to guests. Car parking is also free which is a real plus in the Newcastle area, but bear in mind it is quite a way into the city.

stayed in village newcastle on jan 14th and 15th 2010, have to say hotel was clean, staff friendly at reception, bar staff very slow, could do with better manners also, not very helpful with us getting a table to sit down to eat. bedroom very comfy and spacious and clean. breakfast although good choice, not very tasty. pool looked lovely and clean. […] would return though if staying in the area. This Hotel is pleasant to stay in especially with children. good value for money and a great leisure centre. The beds are comfortable and overal a pleasant stay was had by all.

Very slow service in the restaurant, over 2h30 min. This could have been avoided with better communication between reception and the restaurant. In the morning, seating for breakfast was chaotic with no order There was also no second towel in the room despite asking.

hotel approx 10mins drive to Newcastle and Gateshead.Quiet location, good leisure facilities, dining in, reasonably priced. If staying at weekend if you like a lie -in on Sunday like everyone else be prepared to wait perhaps 5-10mins for breakfast, as dining area not over large for this big hotel, but breakfast has a great choice, this was not really […] a problem as rest of the stay went straight into breakfast, with no waiting. The hotel is pretty much your standard Village hotel, nice room, gym, spa, bar, restaurant etc. The staff here were very helpful. The hotel isn't that close to Newcastle Centre - probably about a 15 min drive, however there are still nice bars and restaurants nearby. Within Cobalt business park and close to Northumberland park metro station the hotel is very convenient for business in Newcastle. Staff is very caring and smiling, everything you ask is "not a problem" and they try their best to help. Price was very interesting, excellent UK breakfast too
