Courtyard by Marriott Norfolk Downtown - Norfolk

This was an educational trip with my two daughters. The location was perfect to enjoy the MacArthur Memorial, Chrysler's Museum of Art and Nautical Museum. Not to mention the Mall for fun !

The staff was so friendly. The hotel is in walking distance of everything that we wanted to see. The room was very clean. Only negative was that the snack bar was a bit over priced. $3 for gatorade is a little outrageous but besides that we will definitely be back!

I think you have to hire more staff on weekends or when you are booked full. We couldn;t get into our room as there were no towels ready. Rooms were supposed to be ready at 3pm. The bar closes at 10pm on Sat night and the bistro only has microwaveable food avail for breakfast at a high cost. I don;t think we will be staying at the Courtyard by Marriott […] again. The room was very big. Took me a call down to the front desk to find the hidden fridge (inside the dresser) an our coffee pot didn't work. but overall was very nice

Everything at this hotel was great! Though I did not realized that parking would be an additional fee, it would have been nice to have the overall price include the parking ($19.00 per night).

The staff was very friendly and helpful over all. (We felt very comfortable giving the valet our car.) The room was very clean and the hotel is within walking distance of Chrysler Hall, a huge mall, and Ganby St. (lots of unique restaurants). We would definately stay there again.

The Staff was very nice and helpful. The Gym, Pool and Hot tube were right on the mark. The Lobby is an interesting and comfortable design with both work space and relaxation space that was right for our needs.

Clean, well kept hotel in the heart of Norfolk. Excellent service, valet parking, and nice touches such as snacks, chips, frozen meals, soups and drinks available downstairs 24/7. Didn't try the restaurant, there are just so many great dining options just minutes away.

Like many of the reviews on this hotel thus far, I agree with being preturbed at the $20/night for parking. Also, the hotel does not offer any amenities. The bar is sub par and shouldnt even really be in the hotel. That said, the front desk staff was great, the rooms were spacious and clean and the hotel was convenient to many restaurants and the mall. […] I'd stay there again. Mehr

I have stayed at the Courtyard the last four years while attending the Virginia EMS Symposium. I always have had great service. Salute!! Also, a great big thank you to housekeeping. I was notified within an hour of leaving, that I left my IPAD.

I had selected this hotel by mistake but thought i would go with it as it would have more amenities and bring me closer to down town. I did not anticipate $19. per night parking fee, no complimentary newspaper or breakfast with such a hole in the wall room overlooking a parking lot. Our stay was fantastic. We stayed there Memorial Day Weekend and checked in really late Sunday night and book a second night for Monday night. The room was so clean, staff very friendly, and the area was nice. There was no parking however, and valet was $17 extra. Since it was MDW, we parked at the meters close by. We were there for the beach, which […] was about a 20-25 minute drive. This hotel has an amazing location, there's a huge shopping mall right next to it, and it's right on the water in Downtown Norfolk. Going out for walks in the morning was really nice. The attendants at the front desk were very unprofessional. The were young and appear not to have hotel management training. There were a couple of young people hanging around the front desk acting silly when I was trying to check in. I came back downstairs later, and I had say, "excuse me", so that I could get the attention of the clerk to focus on […] my question. Also, I had to ask the young people to move away from the counter so that I could talk to the clerk. But on the other hand the house keeping staff was so nice and very helpful. The location - just across the street from a large shopping mall with plenty of dining options and the comfort and cleanliness of this hotel were perfect for my short stay in Norfolk. I did not have my own transportation, so the convenience of the location was very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful when I needed taxis or had other questions.

I stayed one night at the Marriott Courtyard in Norfolk downtown. I drove around several time trying to find the parking garage entrance. I called the hotel and they said it is valet only. I pulled up to check-in but there was no one to greet me at the valet stand. I went inside to an empty lobby and 1 woman at the front desk. She checked me in quickly […] and also went outside to open the gate so I could park my car. I get to my room and the view is of another building and the sound of the whistle from the train on the new tram system filtering through the windows. The bed was made up but the sheets looked like someone had been sleeping in them. However, the room was comfortable and clean. I will not stay there again. Mehr

I needed to stay by the Waterside for a conference event but didn't want to pay the high prices of those hotels. This Marriott is literally 3 minutes from the Waterside so it was an excellent location. Also you can walk 2 blocks to the best mall in Norfolk which has great shopping and dining options. Parking in Norfolk is already hard to come by so […] having a hotel with valet parking was a surprise and a huge plus! Mehr

disappointed on the actual room we received. overlooked all the ugly utilities and the room itself was non-descript. I really thought, by the reviews and pictures, this would be a much nicer stay. will not come again. i'd stay at the waterside. stayed there a few times and rooms are so much nicer.

Marriott did a great job renovating their lobby!!!! They also did a nice job marketing this hotel. The rooms were vintage 1982 style with the addition of a flat screen tv. Beds were of love quality. There is a light rail train that comes in front of the hotel every 15 mins ringing the bell. Iron was missing. The ironing board was at least 10 years old. […] Horrible experience!!! Mehr

I didn't like my stay, I think that it is over priced and I was tired of hearing the new rail system go by. I also wonder why there was not a microwave in the room and I had to pay $18.00 for parking in addition to the expensive cost of the room. Not a happy camper, no plans to stay again.

All staff were very friendly and helpful. We had problems on arrival as the AC appeared not to be working. The room air had a musty odor. But help arrived immediately and the problem was solved. A short time later while sitting in the desk chair an arm fell off of the chair. Since we were ready to leave for dinner we told the maintenance staff as we […] were leaving and the chair was fixed upon our return to the room. So not a bad experience at all. The only unexpected shock was the parking fee of $18. No mention of that feature appeared anywhere in the advertising. But a good feature was being able to extend check out time to 2 PM so we could continue sight seeing the morning of departure without having to move our things from the hotel room early! Mehr
