Bahia Resort Hotel - San Diego

Very noisy during the day as the rooms next to ours were being renovated. We weren't aware of this fact until we were already booked in. Our room and bathroom had been nicely updated but the beds were old and uncomfortable. The shower sprung a leak the first time we turned it on. There was also no hair dryer in the room. I stayed in this hotel the night before and the night of my wedding. The suite was great and made for wonderful photos. Loved the open parking and convenience.

Our room was dark, mildewed and small. There is a major remodeling/refurbishing going on and we arrived too late to request a change. When queried how can you rent such a room to people, the staff cited their repeat business and successful banquet operations. WE met two other parties attending the same event we were who had similar experiences the same […] weekend . This could be a great place, just not now. Mehr

Beautiful hotel, convienient location right by Mission Beach. A little messy due to construction, but never affected our visit. Definitely would recommend to others.

The hotel was in a great location, but if you want to sleep this is not the place to stay. They hosted a loud college party on our last night at the hotel. It was so loud and they said there was nothing they could do about it. We basically paid for a night that we were not able to sleep at all. The staff was rude and not helpful at all. WE HAD SO MUCH FUN STAYING AT THIS HOTEL. THE LOUNGE WAS ALOT OF FUN. WE REALLY ENJOYED OUR STAY.

The Bahia Resort Hotel on Mission Bay was wonderful. The room had recently been renovated and by the looks of the parking lot they are updating the waterfront rooms. The beds were clean and comfortable and the staff were very nice. I will definitely stay here again.

Rooms were clean, service was good. Restaurant was "O.K." but the bed comfort was not so good. We woke up with aches and pains every morning. Location is fantastic! We spent a lot of time at the beach, shot up 5 to Legoland, shot DOWN 5 to the harbor for a cruise.

This is a hotel that makes you want to spend more time at your hotel rather than sightseeing!

We enjoyed our room and would stay again.

The Bahia is located on Mission Bay, just 2 blocks from the heart of Mission Beach. It's close to Seaworld , to tourist destinations downtown, and to Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo and Coronado, among others. It's actually possible to stay here without a car since bus service to all points of interest is available just across the street from the Bahia. […] The resort is large and continually updated. It has a beautiful setting and they let you check in early if the room is ready. The front desk clerks are cold and a bit rude. When we got off the elevator to go to our room we were hit by an overwhelming stench or mold and mildew mix. The ceiling in the hall looked like someone splattered blood on a few tiles, the light covers were stained an dirty, […] some displaced. Once we got in the room though, we were instantly met with a gorgeous & clean room. The bed was incredibly comfortable and so was the couch. The shower head was very low though. Enjoyed our stay at the Bahia, nice, clean & comfortable room, helpful staff, and ideal setting at the bay........very relaxing!

This hotel was ok. It is old, not too much view. The bathroom has coakroaches.

When we pulled in the driveway we were already impressed by the beautiful lush tropical landscape all over the grounds of the Bahia. Upon check in the front desk clerk offered us a free upgrade to a bay view suite. The room was right on the water and had very large balcony for a hotel room. Durring our stay we were delighted at how quiet the hotel was […] and how friendly and helpful all of the hotel staff were. The on site restaurant Cafe Bahia has excellent food. Outside the cafe on the grounds of the hotel is a lagoon with 2 resident seals that were rescued. Our next trip to San Diego will definitly include a stay at the Bahia Resort. Mehr

Nature lover will absolutely like the place, aside from the landscapes scattered in the different area of the resort vicinity, they have this pool area where rescued seals were taken cared of. Our room was called Garden Room and it was huge, clean, cozy and I got it with a very good deal. Phil's BBQ restaurant is just 2 miles away to have a very very […] good meal from. One of my friends who went with me wanted to come back soon and experience more of the resort with her boyfriend. she said she did not know there's a place like this in San Diego and wished they've had expensed their money in this cozy room than the same rate but lesser amenities hotel they've kept on going. Great location, awesome pool and hot tub, very friendly staff. Minutes from Seaworld, The Zoo and Walking distance to Mission Beach.

We love The Bahia! We always have a great time there. The only thing I would suggest is that we think that when someone stays a night and loves their stay so much that they want to stay another night and you have available rooms....you should reward them, NOT penalize them! My sister only reserved 1 night, then decided to stay another. She had 2 rooms. […] The 1st night was a good rate, but the 2nd was way too much. Why do you penalize someone for liking your hotel. You know, they might just tell everyone they know about it, GOOD or BAD! Mehr

LACATION IS GREAT, VERY CLOSE TO MISSION BAY AND EVERY THING IS JUST A 10 TO 15 MINUTES DRIVE. THE ONLY CONCERN IS THAT THE ROOM SMELLS...YOU KNOW THE OLD SMELL AND THEY MUST BE ORGANIZE IN TERM OF DISIGNATING ROOM TO EACH GEUST, FRONT DESK GIVE OUR ROOM TO ANOTHER GUEST AND CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT THEY BASICALLY OPEN THE DOOR WHILE MY HUSBAND WAS IN […] BED. THEY MUST HAVE SOME KIND OF SYSTEM TO PREVENT THIS THING FROM HAPPINGING AGAIN. Mehr

Rooms were not fancy, but were clean and above average. Liked the Friday night riverboat cruise, and gorgeous heated pool. Ice machines in the building would have been nice. Overall, I would definitely stay here again.

We were blacked out the 4th night. No electricity so we could not get to sleep and had a difficult time using the bathroom.

Our stay was just ok. The hotel was not what I had expected based on the hotels website. I didnt even find the lounges along the shore that was pictured on website. The bathroom wall paper was peeling. It needs major renovation. The Sat movie by the pool was a good idea though. I booked for 2 double beds but when we got to the room it was a king bed. […] I like how the sofa is a convertible bed though and the idea that there is a kitchen. Mehr

Was a great stay ...but the food poisoning we got from eating at Donavons in gas lamp caused us to spend the whole day in the hotel room.....sicker than dogs....My husband and I were so upset and resturant refunded part of our 34th Anniversary dinner but diidn't even give a return visit coupon or really say anthing that would make us eat their again […] !! The eggs in the ceaser salad we think made us ill for days...it was too bad we couldn't enjoy the pool or the grounds like we wished. We would come back to the same hotel in future...bugalows need a tad matience but lovely place. The boat ride was awesome at night,,we were able to take it the second night...as we rallied for a while to go out of the hotel...not what I would call a great anniversary Mehr

This is a Motel 8 quality room in a 4 star location. Expensive room for what it is. Room was very old and had an early 80s vibe. A painted brick wall was on one side of the room and the bathroom was small with chipped tile that needs updating. Shower was slow to drain also. Leaving the resort is pretty ridiculous as all parking is angled in one direction. […] To leave however, you have to back out and turn enough to go the "wrong way" down what would appear to be a one way entry. However, it is the only exit and seems quite dangerous at times if you meet an oncoming car. Not sure why it is kept like this. Also, I used the pool which wa nice, but was very cold and had to get out soon after despot it being August. They really should heat it up to a slightly warmer temperature. Overall an OK hotel in a good location, but a bit overpriced for what it is. Mehr

We arrived in the least expensive room they had to find water dripping by the sliding door. They upgraded us right away to a bay view. I do reccomend stayin on the other side where there is the beach right there. huge rooms and awesome grounds.....

Had not visited this hotel before but had stayed at there sister hotel close by. Very convenient to Sea World and beaches. Room was spacious but needed some minor maintenance- sliding door needs new rollers, carpets need replacing and beds were not so comfortable. All this was offest by the marina boats rentals, private beach and complmentry boat cruise. […] The staff were very helpful and friendly. The grounds were beautiful. Great place for a family vacation with little ones. Mehr

Our large room was a perfect fit for a family of four. We even had a terrific view of Mission Bay and Sea World Fireworks from our large balcony. Full kitchen saved money, but didn't have to do the dishes!! Loved the amenities too!

We loved our stay at the Bahia Resort! It's in a great location close to the beach and right on Mission Bay. We only had 3 days to vacation and we were so pleased that there was many things to do on the property and within walking distance so we didn't even need to drive anywhere during our 3 day stay.

We arrived at the hotel in afternoon.Our first room was a disappointment. For the price we paid, you would expect more than the ghetto. The AC did not work in the bedroom, the furniture was from the sixties, and the rest of room was old and musty. The only thing going for the hotel was the front desk service and the location. Out of all the resorts i have been this rates the least. The rooms are very old and have this bad smell that overpowers you the moment you enter the room. There were dark spots on the carpet and the kitchen was not clean. The location is nice though . Please keep away as the entire place gives a 80's highway motel kind of a feel and you dont get a […] resort type experience. Mehr

Our family just completed a 4 night stay and thoroughly enjoyed it. The resort location was PERFECT, the grounds were well maintained and the staff was excellent. We had a recently renovated ground floor room, with a view of Mission Bay. The only complaint was the air flow from the airconditioner blew right on the side of one of the queen bed, but nothing […] an extra blanket couldn't resolve. We will definitely stay here again! when I read the reviews that other people made that were full of complaints, then stayed at this hotel, I don't know what they were talking about! We had nothing but a great stay. Kids loved watching the rescued seals out front in their private lounge pool. Our room was a beautiful bay front, perfect sand beach with swings for kids, a sunset view and […] disneyland-like paddle boat lit up at night, right outside our window. The pool was excellent, large inviting and shallow area for little kids. The jacuzzi was the BIGGEST jacuzzi we had ever been in! It was like a mini pool! Also, the beach was only a couple blocks to walk to--great location! So, if I were you, I wouldn't waste my time reading any of those poor reviews. Mehr

We stayed at the Bahia finishing off a long weekend in San Diego area. The Bahia is conveniently located and the staff was awesome. The grounds are definitely kept up - the ducks and the seals are definitely a draw!! Rooms had NO ventilation and smelled moldy/musty - I know it's an old resort - in California - air quality should be more of a priority […] for the rooms. Would I stay here again? Probably not.... This hotel is in a great location and has great facilities, however the standard of the rooms let the hotel down. While the rooms are clean, they are old and run-down and in need of updating. The free cruise on their ship the Bahia Belle was a pleasant suprise, however it would be even better if kids were allowed on the cruise when you can see the Sea […] World fireworks. Mehr

The grounds are beautiful for this hotel which is the draw. The hotel is old and needs updating - especially the bathrooms. We had just come from a Westin and this didn't come anywhere close. The towels even seemed old.
