Brewster's Mountain Lodge - Banff

After winding around 17 sets of stairs we finally found The Birds Nest where we were directed to have breakfast. When we finally got there, all there was was fruit loops and a tub of yogurt. For 2 guys who needed some protein to negotiate the maze, it was really off setting.

We have stayed at Brewster's several times. It is in a central location, close to restaurants and shops. The rooms are spacious and clean. It is very good value for the money.

If you get parking don't leave you will end up looking else where for place to park.

Overall courteous staff with a few exceptions

A very nice lodge type hotel. Loved our room, spacious, ample room with lodge style furniture of settee, table chairs dresser etc. large bathroom. Very clean. Even breakfast room being in the basement was okay..........good selection of foods and very pleasant warm room to eat in. Will always stay there!

I was surprised at the spacious size and comfort of this hotel. The last time I was in Banff, I stayed at the Fairmont Banff Springs. This time, I decided to on a more modest accommodation but was impressed with the large size of the room - 2 queen beds but have enough room for 3 adults. Thought the hotel was a little tired. Very difficult to get around as there are twists and turns to the hallways.

The room was warm & there was no air conditioning but they did provide a fan. Bathtub was dirty & had some personal hair left around it - had to water it down before using to wash the hair away Nice overall though

Hotel itself was great! Staff helpful, was with seniors so close to shopping, sightseeing, met physical needs.. What was extremely upsetting was that there is no AC in the room, only a fan, which was not working. First night we were up until 3or 4 am due to bar traffic and skateboarders. Finally it was quiet until 5:30 ish and were awakened by the delivery […] trucks lined up out our window. We were on the 3rd. floor facing the back alley. Excellent location. We booked based on quadruple occupancy but I didn't feel like we got anything extra for it. There were no extra towels or shampoos/soaps. Also the continental breakfast was basically cereal, toast/bagels and some out of a can fruit salad - so we didn't eat it. If you are booking for more than two people I wouldn't pay the extra $$ […] - I would just book a room with more than one bed. Mehr

Convenient but nothing special. We checked into our King loft , it was so disappointing that I upgraded to a pricey suite. I've stayed here before and was very impressed ... As for our recent stay i was not impressed at all. They downgraded there bedding in the last year and also tiny televisions even in the suite! It felt like I needed to keep my shoes […] on the entire time.The location of the hotel is the only reason I would recommend it. Very pricey for the lack of room comfort and quality your getting . We recently enjoyed 3 nights in Banff, AB at Brewster's. The room was clean, the staff friendly and courteous and the amenities fairly adequate. The rustic decor with the pine furniture throughout the room and the hotel was quaint. The cold continental breakfast was fine, but nothing special. Underground parking was at an extra cost, but that was nominal. […] The hotel's location right in downtown Banff was very convenient. Channel selection on the TV at night was limited and reception was poor. Loss of internet availability on the morning of checkout was annoying, but presumably could have been corrected had we pressed the issue. This was the only hotel on our trip that didn't have a mini-fridge and that was inconvenient. Nonetheless we did enjoy our stay and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. Mehr

I would recommend this lodge to friends but I would tell them to specify that they want a room in the back of the lodge and not facing the main street. There was a bar with a lot of rowdy people going till all hours of the night.

Great hotel, great location...

Brewster's Mountain Lodge is conveniently located in the center of Banff. You can walk to many of the shops and restaurants in the area. The staff is friendly and helpful. It was handy having a complimentary breakfast in the hotel each morning so we could eat and get on our way. The underground parking will challenge your driving and parking as you […] maneuver into the tight parking spaces. On the positive side it was very affordable and insured your car was safe overnight. My only suggestion is that they invest in some thicker towels. The ones supplied were so thin that it took two to dry off after a shower. Come on guys! Mehr

the hotel was great + staff were very helpful when we needed to book another hotel for our travel to carry on + visit another place in canada, would definately stay there again + recommend this holiday to anyone who is visiting canada.

Brewster's is in an excellent location being right in the middle of the main shopping and eating areas. I would recommend it on this reason alone. The hotel is nice, but a bit dated. It serves continental breakfast included in your hotel price which was decent. Also, has underground parking for a nominal fee. Could use upgrades to the televisions (very […] old CRT) and channels (I think there were 13). The wi-fi (free) was also very slow and intermittent. Other than that, nice place. Mehr

Good location and friendly staff.

Stayed at Brewster's for just one night. Had a very nice deluxe double queen room facing the shops below. It was very quiet in comparison to a room we had last year which was a double queen as well but faced an alleyway. It is very conveniently located and a great place to relax.

they was charged extra customer car packing ($5.20 per day) ice machine did not work

Great Hotel with Great Service!!! Room are the best size for the right price and location was perfect close to all resturants and shops.

Internet is too slow. It spend us a few minutes to browse a web page.

I stayed with my family (wife and 2 young kids) for one night. The place is very well located, clean and well decorated. There are 2 problems with this hotel. First is that you can hear your the people upstair of you walking very clearly. We came in very late and just wanted to go to sleep and until 12:30Am all you could hear was the people walking […] all over the room upstairs. Secondly, the sheets on the bed are like paper, they make a lot of noise. I know it soons weird but this actually woke me up in the night. A block from downtown which is good & bad. A short walk to the shops and to the scenic Bow River. There was noise from the bar hoppers outside but once we closed the window it was better. No A/C but a fan is provided. The front desk staff were really nice and very helpful. The continental breakfast served fresh fruit salad. Only drawbacks, no air, no fridge. We travel with our own snacks, missed the convienence of a fridge. Very clean, friendly staff. Great location, heart of Banff.

convenient location

Rooms were just OK on cleanliness as they needed a good dusting etc, sticky under the edge of tables is not appreciated. The rooom had been smoked inso they gave us a can of deodoriser, but nothing else. We ha s a loft room and the stairs were dusty and narrow, not really a room for the unfit. Continential Breakfast was nice and pleantiful

We loved staying at Brewster's. It's right in the center of town, so it was very convenient to stop back by to grab an umbrella or drop off shopping. You can walk to everything in the little village of Banff, so it was great to be in the center of it all. The city lost power for 4 hours while we were there, but the staff were professional and good humored […] about it. I would definitely go back and highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants an affordable, friendly hotel (it's comfortable and clean, but not romantic or glamorous). Mehr

The best value hotel we found along the Ice Field Parkway, which we visited during June. Good price for the high standard of accommodation, large room, breakfast included and underground parking, wi-fi etc. Just off the main street in the centre of Banff so very well-placed for restaurants and equipment hire, no problems with street noise. My stay in Banff at the lodge was good. The location was great for us to walk to different sites in an reasonable length of time. The staff was very friendly, the room was clean and very comfortable. Very centrally located. Staff is knowledgeable and very friendly (Rory). It was very convenient to be able to have a continental breakfast available as part of our reservation. Rooms are very quiet, even on the front street.

Nice hotel,great location,but noisy streets around it.We stayed in room on main floor,we heard people talking on the street. If I were to stay in this hotel again I would request room on 2nd or 3rd floor.This specific room was big and very clean,well furnished but window was small and curtain had to be pulled because of people passing on the street,so […] the room looked dark. This is a nice little place to stay, its located right off main street, walking distance within everything. Rooms are very nice, the only issue is limited unground parking, if you don't get there in time, you are send out looking for a outside spot, which on weekends parking is limited outside the hotel too.

The location is hard to beat, within a shopping center and a half block from Banff Ave. Only downsides were that the pool/spa was closed for repairs and the heat was on low but the room was still really hot (there is no A/C so we ended up cracking a window open. Overall a great getaway with a great location and a decent price

Hotel is good. brakfest is OK. restorant food is bad.

We had a great stay at this hotel. I was impressed with the breakfast, as some continental's are only bread and fruit, this had a few perks. the rooms were comfortable. I would stay here again.

Overall an excellent hotel, one small issue though, i asked for a really quiet room, as I read on the reviews that their are lots of rowdies at night that can keep you awake. Low and behold, I got a room over looking the alley, and all the drunken partyers would walk up and down bar-hopping all night long, not really the hotels fault though. Just make […] sure you ask for a room NOT facing the alley, and you'll have a peaceful stay. Otherwise a fantastic hotel, and super helpful staff. Mehr

Overall we enjoyed our stay very much. Appreciated the friendly staff. One suggestion would be to have good coffee perks in the rooms and I was surprised not to have a microwave.

We were pleasantly surprised at the quiet nights and satisfying breakfasts. Lovely rustic 'decor'. Wish we could have stayed longer. We had to pay an unexpected parking fee - but it was inside and well protected from the winter weather.
