Hotel Monaco Washington DC, a Kimpton Hotel - Washington

Zimmerkomfort: Airconditioning unerträglich, jedoch keine Möglichkeit die Fenster zu öffnen. Service im Restaurant SEHR langsam. Gesamthaft stimmt Preis/Leistung nicht ganz.

I reserved the room about 30 minutes prior to check-in and the hotel front desk staff was very rude about this as if it was very inconvenient for them. Also along with the cost of the hotel they put a $100 hold on your credit card for incidentals. The hotel was not that nice for the cost and the rude staff

This was our second visit, but unfortunately we have been allocated a basement (floor 1) room that looked inward to the courtyard. It was terrible. ...the window looked out onto a wall only a few feet away and there was no view, and little daylight. We declined to accept the room and were allocated a more suitable room on floor 4. Floor 2 is street […] level. Its a very clean and tidy hotel in a good locatiuon and the staff are very friendly. My ranking of the hotel relate to the second room allocated. Mehr

Came for our anniversary...awesome place to stay but the rooms are just okay.

Perfect location to walk to Verizon Center and great restaurants, bars.

I stayed there for 2 nights. It has a nice restaurant in the hotel. Close to many attractions and museums.

Very convenient location and within walking distance to many things in DC and to metro station. Hotel is in beautiful, old historic building. 20 foot high ceilings, great decor, very comfortable rooms. Very cool lobby area and great bar. I ate at the restaurant one night and was not thrilled with what I ordered, but absolutely loved everything else […] about this hotel. Location is perfect... right in the middle of things. The building is lovely and they've done a great job making it into a hotel. It is definitely an interesting place!

It's a lovely hotel, very close to the white house and other big sights. This comes at the price of much smaller rooms - I stayed at an equally nice Kimpton hotel near Du Pont circle that had rooms over double the size at similar prices.

The hotel is located across the street from the Verizon Center and the National Portrait Museum. It is within walking distance of so many great restaurants and the unique spots in China town. This hotel is a great stay. I spent the weekend there with my girlfriend and we would definitely go back. The wine hour was a great way to start our evening out. […] We walked to a great Greek restaurant two blocks away and then caught a Wizards game right after. The hotel hallways are really long but its a great walk because this is a very unique historic building. The rooms had everything we needed. The mini stereos in the rooms are perfect and the rooms have a lot of unique historic character, not the typical box room you see in other hotel chains. Highly recommend this hotel! Mehr

Great Hotel, Great Staff, very friendly and informative. They project the image that they really care about you and your stay with them. They provided us with everything that we needed and met all of our wants and needs. This is a great hotel and we had a fantastic experience with them.

My husband and I had one night away from the kids and this was fantastic. The rooms are tiny, and the bathroom kind of feels like an afterthought, but it was super clean and hospitable. the location was great, and the staff was very helpful.

Great old building with incredible ambience, a great restaurant, and located close to everything, including Ice Hockey. Could not have been any happier with the choice.

Very happy with the hotel - including the excellent staff and very cool rooms. The location to great eating options is unbeatable. Highly recommend!

This was a repeat stay over night to celebrate a special occasion. The staff was outstanding! Other family joined us for dinner there and the special attention was much appreciated. We will be back!

I stayed at the Monaco for my birthday and a girls weekend. Upon arrival back to my hotel on my birthday the manager had champagne sent to the room for me! What a great treat! Central location, nice rooms, friendly staff, but the parking is a bit expensive.

This is an excellent hotel in a great location for business, attending sporting events (across the street), culture or tourism (metro across the street) .The classical 19th centure building will appeal to architecture buffs. Very clean and efficient.

This hotel is great!. It is across the street from the Smithosian Potrait Gallery, next to the Spy Museum, and also next to the Crime and punishment museum. It is also just a couple of blocks from the National Mall. The hotel in itself is a museum, and the staff is very courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable about the hostory of the building. Location, location . location. You can not beat the location. We really liked the funky decor. We brought our two daughters aged 10 and 12. They loved the hotel. The rooms are a bit on the small side, however they are very clean and the beds are comfortable. The staff were very pleasant and kid friendly. I would not hesitate recommending this hotel […] to anyone interested in art galleries, the Smithsonian and the White House. Mehr

Great location for the weekend tourist. Poor service on the front helpdesk and very moody employee. The rooms were clean but quite small. There is a great courtyard for drinks outside in the summer.

Stayed here and walked to all the DC sights! Had great options for dinner nearby and in the hotel. Very cool historic building. Comfortable rooms with nice aveda toiletries, tall ceilings, and comfy beds. Level 1 has NO view, just small windows near the ceiling, so ask for the 2nd or 3rd floors if you need to see out. I've stayed here before and, for my purposes, it is the best Kimpton location in the City (that's highly subjective, of course.) The building is beautiful (I believe it is the largest all marble bldg. or some other such claim) and the decor is modern yet tasteful. There is a nice reception hour and the entire hotel is spotless. Staff is friendly and […] knowledgeable about the area. I hear that the restaurant, Poste, is excellent but have not had a chance to dine there... yet. Don't expect an express elevator - it's an old building so I'm more than happy to stand and admire the architectural details while I wait to descend. Great value overall. Mehr

I was pleased with my stay at the Hotel Monaco. It's right off the Gallery Place Metro, nearly across the street from the Verizon center. The room was nicely decorated, with very high ceilings. I did not spend a great deal of time in the hotel, although I did have some drinks in the courtyard. Service was slow, but the ambiance was lovely.

Location is Great, close to all the museums. Hotel is a funky re-do of an historic building. Pet friendly, if you do not have one, they will "lend" you a goldfish to keep in your room. Lobby is large and comfy, but smells a little musty.

The whole weekend of our stay, one of the hottest in the D.C. summer (100-plus degrees), the air conditioning at the hotel was on the fritz. The hotel staff would mention the situation in passing--and we think we got upgraded to a room that was less oppressively hot--but no one would deal with the problem directly. Kimpton has hotels throughout the […] area; the management should have offered to bus people to those hotels, or to let them stay in the sweltering rooms for free until the problem was solved. We did not have it as bad as some others; there were tourists and older people having a tough time with the heat. The problem also affected the in-house restaurant, Poste, but the management there didn't notify customers when confirming reservations. We actually had a worse time at the restaurant than the hotel. I heard one waiter/busboy lying to a table of tourists, saying this was a city-wide problem affecting all old buildings in Washington. It was not. In short, a hotel with the kind of reputation Monaco wants to have, that charges what it charges, should handle crises like this one more professionally. Mehr

The hotel was very nice, but simply wasn't worth the astronomical cost of the room. I was also very annoyed that the room didn't have a coffee maker.

Elegant and modern at the same time, this hotel is housed in an old post office. A beautiful historic building convenient to restaurants, shopping and the metro across the street. Next to the Spy Museum and the Art Museum. Very nice people, even helped me find another hotel when my flight was cancelled and they were booked up. One thing, when exiting […] the Metro come up at 7th and F St., NOT 7th and H St. It's only a couple of blocks but that walk had some pretty scary characters every few feet. I don't know why but the bad element stayed away from F St. Walking from the hotel to the Mall took only 15 minutes, but the metro takes only 5, and it's very safe. Loved this hotel, will stay again. The Hotel Monaco walking distance to so many attractions in DC. It used to be the old post office, so the decor is unique. We love our room: even though it was on the first floor and in the front of the building, we weren't bothered by street noise. The room was very well-appointed and a good value.

My husband and I and our two children stayed at this hotel from 7/3/11 to 7/5/11. The hotel was very nice. It was a very short walk to many restaurants and the Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro stop was just catty-corner across the street. It is also within walking distance of the Mall and many museums. Execellent hotel and service. The hotel was walking distance from many points of interest in D.C. The hotel has a great courtyard dining and lounge area. The only minor complaint was our room was on the first floor (basement/lower level) and it had rained on our second night stay, and on the following day, the room/floor smelled a little 'musty'. This is a wonderful hotel. I stay whenever I can. From the room designs and pleasant staff to the animal print robes, it is always a great stay. And, it is close to the metro, restaurants etc

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. Front desk was very helpful even though we arrived very early. Rooms are very comfortable. The restaurant "Poste" has a very good menu and quality of the food is outstanding. What we did not like is the fact that some of the staff in the restaurant is pretty arrogant. I had a wonderful time. The service was amazing. They went the extra mile an I loved the decoration and location!! Thebest!

This is a big building, but it has a boutique feel. We had a first floor, garden-level room, but it was nice and quiet. My wife and I were very pleased with the location. Right across the street from the ChinaTown stop on the Subway. Lots to do within walking distance, restaurants, bars, shops, etc.. The International Spy Museum is just down the street […] and surprisingly fun. The mall is within walking distance, 7 short blocks. We walked to the Smithsonian Aerospace Museum and toured from there. Hotel staff was very courteous. Free coffee in the lobby. However, the restaurant is sub-contracted and wasn't open as early as I would have liked. The room rate was great. We will probably stay there again on our next visit. Mehr

Stayed here for Easter weekend in D.C. Hotel service was great. Brought cupcake and treats to hotel room on first night. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Would stay here again and recommend to all.

Easy walking to National Gallery, Smithsonian, Shakespeare Theater. Portrait Gallery/American art right across the street. Not so easy for breakfast restaurants. Very helpful staff. Crowded room.
