Ramada San Jose Convention Center - San José

The room was clean and the maid service was impeccable. The beds and pillows are extremely firm. I am not used to sleeping on a firm mattress/pillow so it was difficult to adjust to. They have an extended continental breakfast that included oatmeal, mini bagels, eggos, cereal, fruit and hardboiled eggs. Better than some of the other continental breakfasts […] I've had. Upon arriving, I was concerned by the outside of the hotel. The outside looked a little old and rundown. After a fast and easy check in, I grabbed my bag and headed to my room. I opened the door with the keycard, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a great interior! Dual king bed room, with seven pillows per bed, nice desk and dresser, large flat […] screen t.v., microwave, mini-fridge, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and best of all a full shower and bath. This hotel is in a good location if you're visiting San Jose State University and want to view the surrounding area. The hotel was clean and the staff was helpful and responsive. This hotel is a good choice if you have to be near the San Jose Convention Center and you are on a very tight budget. This is a motel type of property with the doors facing outward which is particularly troublesome when the garbage trucks do their pickup at 4:30 in the morning. polite staff, but it ends there. had to change rooms 2 times due to noise above, then a leaky shower. had an unexpected knock on my door at 4:50 am-looked like someone there to pick up a date-a little strange that he was able to get up the stairs or elevator without a room key. Then at 6:45, a maintenance person walked INTO my room- very old decor, […] needed paint in each of the rooms, fixtures old and grimey-how this got anything more than 1 star from its guests is beyond my comprehension. spend $10-15 more and get something clean! Basic room. No frills. If you need a comfy bed for the evening, don't have much to spend, and need to be in downtown San Jose then this is the place. It is BUSY though and the walls are a bit on the thin side. If you're looking for a quiet neighborhood choose something further out.

This is a Marginal hotel. Needs an upgrade. The walls are so thin could hear the person in the room above Snoring. Would not recommend this hotel.

I found the bed in room as hard!!! I woke up several times during both nights with back aches...would recommmend for a night but not for a long stay...

Simple hotel, clean and comfortable.

Our third stay at this property, and again we are satisfied with the quality of service, cleanliness of room and price. It's an easy walk to convention center, has free parking, and a free - although limited - breakfast.

room was clean and service was good. hotel is a little worn, but my one night stay was pretty comfortable. Internet VERY slow, and was not even able to check my e-mail. Breakfast was surprisingly substantial.

The room was as expected in size and clean- one irritating thing though, was the fact that all sensors for the light switches were broken; the breakfast buffet had good selection to chose from; for business travel the only real draw back was the fact that there was not one open wall outlet.

Pretty typical divey place. Clean enough, though slight funny smell. Thin walls and people walking above you sort of seem like they are jumping on wooden floor on wooden shoes. Super convenient to downtown and cheapest deal in town... So, that is nice! I had a hard time sleeping in the queen bed. Not sure why. Couldn't get the temp right, or the bed […] was not comfy, maybe. Gym was really basic missing weights beyond two 10 lb weights for the crunch machine. Mehr

Not sure why all the bad reviews? I was a little hesitant to book a room at the Raddison because of the horrible reviews but I couldn't resist the price! I was there for two nights and was beyond my expectations. The staff if super friendly, the sports bar/lounge is also great and had 1/2 off happy hour deals (not only on drinks but on their appetizer […] menu as well) until 7pm on a weekend! The room was perfect. The sleep number bed was amazing and pillows were comfy. I rarely get a good nights sleep when stay in hotels but here I slept all through the night, BOTH nights. The bathroom was clean and I loved their toiletries. The water doesn't warm up very hot in the shower but is warm, not sure why other reviews said they had to take cold showers? The neighborhood was quiet, there's a coffee shop right next door and a bowling alley. Otherwise not too much around there. I wasn't flying in or out of the airport so no sure how good the shuttle service is. Parking lot was packed both nights so obviously people like staying here. I travel to San Jose every two weeks or so, so I will be staying here again quite often! Glad I finally found a good, clean, comfortable, and very affordable hotel in San Jose. :) Mehr

We really didn't enjoy our experience here. We were first put in a room with one bed when we reserved a two queen room. We were also told that the hotel would allow us to stay in the two bed room for one night but that we would be switching for our second night. The rooms were not clean, mold on the shower curtain, and dirty floors. It was also very […] loud in the mornings when the staff was cleaning. The breakfast is limited so bring extra cash to go out. For the price and location, I think this hotel is a great value. I've stayed here a couple of times, and the rooms have always been clean and comfortable. This not overly fancy, but it has all the basics you would need, and it feels clean and safe. One plus is that my rooms have had mini fridges and microwaves so far (not sure if all rooms have that […] or not, but its convenient). There are a few cons: I've stayed in both the north stack and the south stack of rooms, and the north stack was much quieter. The south stack of rooms (the one that goes up to three stories) definitely seemed to let in more noise, and there are a lot more rooms in that stack, so you hear loud foot steps on the walkway outside more often (I think they should but some sort of mat on the hallway to reduce foot traffic noise). One night there was some fairly loud noise coming from the street (sounded like yelling involving a car), but given that this is downtown and near several bars, that is probably expected, though it felt like the room wasn't sound proofed as much as one would like. Overall, for the price (which includes free parking, free internet in your room, and free breakfast), it is an incerdible value in a very convenient location right downtown. As long as you don't mind a bit of noise, I recommend it, a soild, safe hotel experience. Mehr

Room smelled like urine. All kinds of debris behind the bedside tables along with dirt. Pulled out the bedside table the first night. Debris picked up. Not vacuumed. The telelphone was filthy.

The surrounding neighborhood did not seem very nice. But very close to everywhere I needed to go for the weekend half marathon... the convention center, market, restaurants. The light rail system was very easy to use. The hotel was in good condition. The stairwell required a room key to access.

I was looking for a hotel and after much research, viewing reviews and pricing on 12 hotels, I chose this one. Budget pricing was great, parking great, room was clean, looked in great shape, no weird people hanging out anywhere. There is a small kitchenette in the room, great shower with a high head for tall people. Ample towels, good tv and channel […] selection. Alarm clock did not work properly so I set my cellphone alarm to wake up. Overall room was comfortable and would recommend a stay there for business. Mehr

A hellhole.

I booked this hotel since it was located close to the venue I was visiting. However, bad sound proofing and the proximity of several bars which were pounding away into the wee hours of the night kept me awake. Called the front desk at 1 AM to hear from the employee that this is how it is!.

The location was perfect for the event we were going to at HP pavillion. Close to downtown and transportation. It served it's purpose for the price. I would stay here again.

I expected better from Ramada the location was great but the overall feel of the hotel was run down. The rooms and bathrooms were old. The bed was not very comfortable and the staff seemed as tired as the structure. The only saving grace was the location which was so convient and the parking was free and secure.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at the Ramada Convention Center in San Jose.

This is more of a motel than a hotel--all rooms open to an exterior corridor. The location is fantastic but a bit towards the seedier side of downtown, as you can tell by the security gates that lock down the parking lot at night. However, the security is very reassuring and the property itself seems very safe. It's not a bad area for walking around […] at night. Extremely convenient to walk to restaurants and bars, as well as the convention center. The property is easy to find by car, and I had no trouble with parking. Most guests seem to be younger people or families passing through. The rooms are very basic, with a wall-unit A/C & heater and a very cramped bathroom. However, everything was in working order, and the free wireless Internet had no problems. For the price, it's a very good bargain in a great location. Just keep your expectations in check. Mehr

Glad I booked through hotel.com because the normal price was outrageous. The room was nice and clean beds weren't too comfortable and I saw a roach not sure where it came from. Surprised I saw only one considering it wasn't in the best of neighborhoods! We had a very pleasant stay at the Ramada. The location was perfect - a 5 minute walk to the San Jose Convention Center and many restaurants close by. Our 2 1/2 year old loved the pool and the fitness room. Breakfast was meager but adequate. This motel was 1/2 the price of the Marriott and Hilton nearby so if you are on a budget, stay here. The staff […] was very accommodating and my request for a later checkout was no problem. I also took advantage of their baggage storage service and stashed my luggage there while finishing my conference. They also provided information on the free shuttle so I was able to get to the train station for free and didn't need to "schlep" my bags down there by foot. A very nice experience. Mehr

I wouldn't recommend this Ramada at convention center. I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and the room had bad odor duiing the stay, and second day, the bed sheet was not changed.

Hotel was fine---better than average. Beds were very comfortable. However, hotels.com did not communicate to them our preference requests for bottom floor room, and smoking room. In fact, hotel receptionist said they do not normally get those types of requests communicated to them from hotels. com.

Well located in a popular neighborhood of SJ. A bit of street noise from local night clubs, but very close to the urban convention center. The elevator was "out" when we arrived, but were told it would be fixed the next day. It was; and improved access to our room & subsequent departure. "Free" breakfast was average or better with waffles available […] and ample CA fruit. Mehr

Small rooms but clean. Older hotel but a good value, considering what the big hotels in the area are charging. Needed some toothpaste and received a packet with everything at no charge. Nice. Water pressure brutal, and don't expect the breakfast to offer much. The hotel served its purpose for an overnight stay.

For what we paid, it provided good value: location, simple but adequate breakfast, clean room although a bit musty and dark, good size room for a 2star hotel, close to good restaurants and public transport. Especially worthy of mention is receptionist Wendi who was helpful in every way.

This is more of an inn. The rooms are accessed outside. Limited parking spaces available, especially if you're going back to your room late. We got back to our room about 1230 am and ran out of spaces because this RV took up 4 spaces even though the sign clearly says 1 spot per room. So we told the front desk. He was about to leave so he gave us his […] spot. There was also one security person walking around when we first arrived but that was the last time we saw him. The pictures are misleading. There is no jetted tub in he room, just a shower. The bathroom looks nice. Breakfast: not worth it at all. They have bananas, apples, oranges, cereal, waffles, and muffins. You would use the toaster/microwave to heat these things up if needed. Mehr
