I felt like I was in a redneck version of the Jersey Shore. This hotel was just a 24hr cheesey night club with some hotel rooms attached. It is not a kid friendly place at all. The rooms were nasty and the noise was unbarable. The pool and beach areas were full of drunk out of control patrons, most of which were not guests of the hotel. We really enjoyed the atmosphere of this resort. The live music and happy hour was wonderful. The all-u-can-eat buffet was excellent. The buffet had a large variety to choose from. We had a great experience at Shepards!!! We went in February with our 3 small children and were extremely pleased with the service and treatment. Whether lounging by the pool listening to the live band or experiencing the fabulous buffet overlooking the water, we were treated like family. Nice mid-level resort. I came here imediately after a three day stay at the Grand Floridian so I may be a little spoiled but the front desk staff at Shepards needs some work. I walked in, said hi, introduced myself and was greated with "I.D. and credit card". No "welcome to Shepards" or anything. Very cold. It was as if they did not really care if we […] were there. The room was pleasant and clean. Food pricing was fair. Overall condition of the resort was a little worn out. I may stay there again but would probably look elsewhere first. Mehr

People were outside of out room cursing and screaming all night long until 5am everynight. When told to front desk, they u should of known that how this hotel is

Very nice hotel - never at a loss for music, good food and drink! One thing that we did not like was the "boom - boom" from the nite club on Friday, Saturday and also (surprised) on Sunday nite until 3am. And we were on the 4th floor - would not stay here again over a weekend.

Like the hotel and everyone was friendly, but mostly for people who like to party and spring breakers. Live band every night till midnight. Entertainers were very good, but if you are looking for peace and quiet this hotel is not for you. Young people will love it.

We had a wonderful, relaxing time. We went there to celebrate our 25th anniversary. It was everything we wanted. Clean, comfortable, good food and spirits, live music,and all right on the beach!!! We will be back soon!!!

Excellant sunset views but had trouble with noise. One of the nights a drunk women was knocking on all the doors at 4am looking for someones room. Good valet services. They take good care of you and your car. The resturant has an really good Seafood Buffet.

hotel is in a great location, close to most of Clearwater Beach and on the water. It also has a great outdoor bar with live music which is a lot of fun.

sucks.. old hotel.. found red ant on bed... dirty carpet.. old room overall... will never go again.

I was there 3 nights. Water heater was out for 2 days. Hotel gave us a credit of $25. Main TV never worked but small TV above refrig did. Said they would repair TV but never did.

I would not recommend this hotel for families. It is more of a party place with a night club. We stayed on the 6th floor and could still hear the noise from the nightclub. Pool was a little dirty. Rooms were clean.

The hotel has one old an one new part We were booked in to a Pool suite, sounds fancy but it was a dungeon! There was no view of the pool instead it overlooked a 10 feet fence and a concrete wall. It wasn´t renovated for at least 20 years. Shortly it was a dump! All the positive reviews and pictures come from the new parts. I would newer stay here  […] again. Mehr

Shepard's Beach Resort exceeded expectations. Hotel parking was a breeze. Small private beach out front, and a very short stroll to the expansive public Clearwater Beach. Room was squeaky clean and quite comfortable. Well maintained property. 2 free internet terminals next to reception. Dinner buffet was superb with excellent prime rib and crab legs. […] The encrusted basa fish and ribs in Thai sauce were exceptional. The number one reason for the stay was the resort's night club. WAVES has a top notch sound system and attracted a great crowd. Outside venue to boot had live reggae band and then dj. Drinks pricey, but bless them, the place is smoke free indoors for the club and the rooms. Your clothes won't reek and you will not have a smoke hangover from guests chain smoking cigarettes. After closing out the club at 3AM and sleeping like a baby, I so looked forward to the breakfast buffet, especially after experiencing such a wonderful dinner buffet prior. One look at the breakfast offerings and I told the hostess, the waiter, and then the front desk: I will have to pass on the buffet before even getting started! Pancakes were rock hard, obviously hours old. And empty serving pan after empty serving pan! There was still 1 1/2 hours to go on the buffet and only a half dozen tables were seated, so no excuses there, only disappointment of entire stay. The hotels location is perfect for walking the many shops, and Pier 60. If you time it right, don't miss the dozens of giant pelicans squabbling as the charter captains feed them at the fish cleaning stations at the marina. Also, one of the of the large surf/beachwear shops nearby has an indoor surfboard ramp that is great to watch people surf and wipe out. Mehr

If you are looking for "the happening spot" on Clearwater Beach, this is the place!

I was impressed that even though it was an older building on the inside you could not tell. Will stay again... Perfect location....

Great room, nice balcony & view, nice facilities, good restaurant & buffet, excellent pool area, tiki bar, and entertainment. We booked it over Xmass weekend and oddly the place and area was packed! A couple of gotchas though! First off they have a large on-site garage but you can't self park, it's vallet parking only, which is classy, but inconvenient […] and expensive (tips). Second, If you want anything on the beach, lounge chair, umbrella, etc., you gotta pay for it, separate concession from hotel. Third, the tikki bar pool area entertaiment day and night was excellent, the lounge entertainment was so so, but the nightclub WAVE is populated by very youn folks in thier 20s, we're in our 50s, love to dance,and pretty hip, but this crowd was a bit much! If you enjoy dancing all night long with extremely loud and crappy music just underneath your room - this hotel is for you. Otherwise look for a quieter place.

Shepards was a great week-end away from home. Rooms are fabulous and spotlessly clean!

When I was researching where to stay in Clearwater Beach, FL, I searched the web and came across Shephard''s Hotel. I liked the pictures they have in their website, the price was not too bad, and I liked the idea of the kitchen in the room. When I got there, I was a little surprised with the exterior, but when I went inside, the receptionist was awesome, […] I got a great deal for the Tropical Tour Boat to see the dolphins, our room was very clean and I was absolutely satisfied. The neighborhood is great, a close walk to the beach and restaurants. I absolutely recommend and would stay there again. The small kitchen in the room is great, we prepared our own breakfast and dinner. Congratulations Shephard's staff!!! Mehr

Though everything was good overall, and my bosses really put out for this one (thanks guys), the music in the outdoor lounge was bad, all sounded the same with no real mix. Couldn't really dance to it, were no slow dances, they didn't take requests, and it was far too loud. We eventually went into The Wave nightclub, which was worse. The music was the […] same type, and even LOUDER. It was like hip-hop - gangster - techno.. No one was really dancing, just standing and drinking. My wife and I finally retired to our room at the other end of the hotel. It was so loud, we feel it. If your 21 and deaf, and like to drink to you puke, this is the place for you. If you wan a romantic evening, If you like to chat with friends, if you like to dance, or if you hope to just relax and get some sleep, stay far far away from this place. They should warn guests about these conditions before they check them in. The management seems to have chosen to cater to spring break kids and punks who want to get wasted. Mehr

Excellent service, beautiful, clean rooms with an excellent view, but... HORRIBLE complimentary coffee. The room even had a nice little kitchenette, just BRING YOUR OWN COFFEE!

Was a bit worried about my hotel choice after seeing a couple of negative reviews. I am so happy to say that my experience was wonderful. My wife and I had not been on a date for almost 2 years as we had a baby and have been busy parents since then. This was our night out. One word of warning though, this hotel was more of a good party spot than a hotel for a get away to relax. We were looking for a party and found it here. The night club was nice, smaller than most, but very very well designed and great crowde. High class club with less people than the big ones. This was a huge plus for us. If we had children with us or wanted to get to sleep early this could have been an issue since the club is a bit loud and you can hear the music in the rooms above (we were on the 5th floor and could hear most beats and even lyrics) but for a get away / party night this place is great! Overall good stay, nothing overly flashy. Font Desk staff was always friendly and accomodating. Wi-fi/internet service was not working in room for at least two days....frustrating for business travel. Hotel buffet/restaurant was hit and miss depending on dish. I'd return again at the rate I recieved so long as the internet service was working.

Although this property is listed on hotels.com as a "family friendly" hotel, that couldn't be further from the truth. The music from the bar is too loud to sleep through and lasts until 130am. In an effort to participate in the merriment rather than lay in bed upset and awake, we decided to dance with our 6 year old but we were immediately asked to […] leave. So we should pay to stay there, listen to the music in the middle of the night, but not participate in the fun. BTW...the window also fell out of the wall when we tried to open it to air out the stinky room. This place is a hole in the wall! Mehr

My husband and I enjoyed this hotel and will definately stay again. The staff are friendly and helpful and the location was excellant.

Was sceptical when I pulled up, but it turned out to be a great time for the wife and myself.Would not recommend bringing kids, but wouldnt let it stop me, either. Friendly, private, clean and fun.

Enjoyed this hotel location close to Pier 60 and nice beaches. Suite was perfect size for family of 4 but large enough for 2 more. Ask to see the upgrade if you are in a studio suite with older children. We were 2 adults and two new teens of different sexes so bed and sofabed works great. Could stand some disinfectant cleaning of showers and kitchen […] sink and drain and updating sofabed and living area chair. Kitchenette perfect for saving funds on breakfast and lunch and snacks. Big fridge, stovetop and microwave. Great staff, live bands were fun and buffet was great variety. Missed the nightclub and the action that happens with it. We would go back again. Mehr

I HAVE STAYED AT SHEPHARDS MANY TIMES I LOVE THIS PLACE, THE POWER WENT OFF FOR ABOUT 1 HR. BUT WE MADE THE MOST OF IT. I THINK THE ROOMS SHOULD BE A LITTLE CHEAPER.

Decent place, only stayed one night, a Monday night. Prob better on the weekends due to more avail activities. Beach is poor due to location on the inlet, look closely on the map, would recommend closer to or north of the pier for best beaches.

Nice hotel, clean, right on the beach not too far of a walk from pier 60... if looking for a peaceful place to stay, do Not stay here...loud music every night.. party atmosphere. Rooms were clean, not the most comfortable beds.

Great overall experience. Do NOT recommend the pool-side suite if you have little ones. The outdoor bar/restaurant includes a band that plays ALL day until about 2AM. Great for singles or couples w/out kids. Convenient access to the pool and beach.

Don't waste time looking any further.this hotel has it all, from great buffet to live entertainment with music. If you want some r&r stay in the studio side. Don't stay pool side. Every other hotel guests come here for the night life, food and everything. Need I say more. Don't stay any were else.

2 star accomodations at a 4 star price. Do not be fooled by the word resort anywhere along Florida's sun coast... Every 2 bit facility (including this one) loves to use the word without anything to back it up.
