Ramada Mission Valley - SDSU - San Diego

Rooms were old and shabby. I wanted to check out as soon as we got there. We ended up staying anyways but wish I had picked a different hotel in a better area. This one was in an industrial area and hard to get to from the freeway.

Despite being called pet friendly the unannounced charge was 33% of the room (for two days). We could not book another hotel first because we arrived past midnight the kids were tired,and because the internet connection was as bad as the room which was too humid. The morning after we understood why the breakfast was complimentary,... horrible.

Pros: - close to SDSU - we were doing a college visit - trolley stop next to hotel goes straight to SDSU campus...faster, cheaper, more convenient than parking at SDSU with a car! Wish we had taken the trolley and left our car at the hotel! - complimentary breakfast was okay (hard boiled eggs, cereal, coffee, juices in machine, muffins, yogurt, waffles, […] oranges) - clean - firm bed/good mattress! - free parking Cons: - About 100 yards from freeway. Very unattractive surroundings. Traffic noise. - Old/old fashioned. OK for us but maybe not for everyone. Don't expect anything fancy or modern! Worth the price for our purposes. Mehr

This hotel has a great location relative to inland SD and is close to lots of retail, coffee shops, etc. However, trolley noise is intrusive on one side, and the hotel's wifi doesn't work for iPads or iPhones, which seems pretty egregious. Breakfast was decent if limited.

Excellent place to stay friendly, clean rooms, quiet, price was perfect ....

Hotel is a little more expensive than others around the area but it was a great Stay. Nice Lobby, good FREE breakfast, and couldn't be any more convenient for a chargers game. The trolley is about 2 min away walking. Chili's Starbucks, and gas station very close by so you can get back on the road home the next day. Overall 5 out of 5. This room was way over priced, the bed was old, items in the room were broke. I will never stay at this hotel, when returning to San Diego.

good value for the money, two trolley stops to qualcomm stadium. not a good area to walk in due to busy roads. wish there was a lounge on the premises. overall a very good experience.

We aren't really high maintanence but this hotel was pretty dumpy. Decent breakfast though. Rooms were just older and grungy. Very small too. Whatever, we stayed, no bugs, we lived, we paid less than most places and parking was free and free b-fast. Worked out fine. Won't ever go back though.

Not a bad hotel, parking is nice, Chilis Restaurant in walking distance, breakfast was okay. Overall I would stay here it again. Although I spent 90% of my time working.

I was in San Diego on biz and finding a decent hotel there in August without paying an arm and a leg is a challenge. The Ramada SDSU met that challenge. It's well managed and my room was very comfortable. They've got a very nice fitness center which is a big plus for me and I appreciated their breakfast.

the hotel was close to anything one might want to see in San Diego. I would definately reccomend this hotel to anyone wanting to be in the center of activities. Everything was clean, fresh and the free continental breakfast had lot to offer. I would stay again.

All was veary nice, the only thing that bugged me was Thay charged us An extra fee for the room safe That we did not use, that was Kind of strange? & we weren't informed of this untell we checked out not at check in, I think That you shouldn't be charged unless you used it, not just because.

Very pleased with the check in and check out. No troubles. The breakfast was great especially for someone who is on the go.

the rooms do not have a frig or microwave. the room had a mildew smell, the jacuzzi and pool look like they hadnt been cleaned in a while. the front desk personnel were rude when we asked for more towels and we both had many bug bites. we will not be going back.

The rooms are extremely small, the water pressure is horrible, and there is no fridge... Overall it's just not worth the amount of money you pay, for like $30 - $40 more you could stay in a much nicer hotel, my family won't be staying again.

Good stay. Was there three nights. Clean and quiet. Service at front desk was good. Breakfast was standard, but good in a rush.

The Front Desk staff were courteous and helpful, however the place is a dump and in the middle of nowhere. It looks like one of those places in the movies where fugitives hide out. It comes up in the down town search but is 15mins drive away. yes it is on the tram line but reception printed me a time schedule to get to gas lamp area and ride was going […] to be over 1hr each way. Breakfast is pitiful unless you like packaged sugary garbage, it does have a waffle machine if thats your style. Plenty of traffic noise as you sleep by the freeway. Mehr

I slept well in a tiny, clean and reasonably quiet room despite great outside road noise. Bed was comfortable. 0.21 miles from Trolley station.

when i booked online I specifically asked for two queen sized beds for my 8 year old daughter and I. When i got there they told me because i had booked online they never received that request and only had 1 king sized bed. They told me a king sized bed would be big enough for my daughter and I to share. I finally got a cot. We were awoke by people yelling […] and screaming in the middle of the night. We used this hotel because of it's proximity to the trolley line and Qualcomm stadium. We came to town for the Raiders/Charges game so I wasn't looking for a fantastic view or plush amenities, just a clean, secure room in a decent area at a reasonable price. And that's exactly what I got. The hotel is right next to the freeway, but once inside the room […] we never heard any noise at all. The room was on the small side, but serviceable for two adults or maybe a family with small children. Anything else we wanted to see or do while in San Diego was just a short drive away. If you're looking for a reasonable place to stay at a good price, this hotel works nicely. However, plan on renting a vehicle if you don't have one and don't rely on public transportation to get you anywhere fast or cheap. Although it's called Ramada Mission Valley, it's not actually in that region with all the other hotels, which is confusing, especially […] to taxi drivers. The staff was friendly and there were options for dining within walking distance. my last 2 nights i was unable to sleep. i don't know what kind of buildings are behind this hotel but most all night the noise was like a fire alarm going off for hours. i would NEVER stay at this hotel again

When I visit San Diego I stay at the Ramada Inn. It is clean and comfortable. The staff are very helpful and friendly. There is breakfast every morning in the lobby, enough to get you to lunch. Loud band fr nearby club until late caused us to call to get another room - denied. Big wad of fresh gum on carpet in front of small safe showed how housekeeping worked. Poor directions and signage to find "back side" rooms caused unnecessary confusion. Charged for a small safe we did not want. Breakfast was okay for this type of operation. good service and cleanliness

The hotel is OK but the room where I stayed was very small. The breakfast area was big and there was a good selection.

i don't stay at fancy hotels, i go for price and convenience. to be honest, this hotel was a pleasant surprise. although right by the freeway, i didn't hear a peep of passing cars. this may be due to the fact that my room was on the backside of the hotel. the one thing i did hear (occasionally) was the rumbling of the SD MTS trolley that is within about […] 150 ft. it wasn't a downside because it was not frequent nor was it long lasting; there and then gone, so to speak. the small size of the room was made up for with the cleanliness and the newly remodeled feel of it. the bathroom was also small but quite nice, very clean, and well kept. the walls are fairly thin (in all directions) so if you do not get the 3rd floor, you will hear people above you if they have heavy feet. overall, the stay was nice. if you're going to san diego to spend a lot of time inside your hotel room, this probably isn't the place for you. it's perfect for those out to see the sights and explore a bit, in fact it's slightly homey after a day of adventuring. about 7 mins from little italy, 2 mins from sdsu, and give or take, 10 mins from the rest of downtown/gaslamp district. enjoy if you go, but don't expect some fancy shmancy hotel. bare minimums with a wide, well kept flare of comfort. Great rate for the Ramada, It was not as I had expected as the Hotel as my mother put it "one of the older ones" yet it was very clean and comfortable and the continental breakfast was more than expected. The hotel was 10 mins from SDSU very convenient and right off the freeway.

In our circurmstance, the location was first the most appealing thing, then we arrived and were impressed with the look and upkeep. Towels were maybe a little small, but no worries, the continental breakfast made up for that and then some! At one point the remote stopped working - i just called the front desk and one was waiting right there for me. […] Rooms looked great everyday they were cleaned! Didn't get to try the pool out but it looked great! Maybe next time eh? Thanks for great home away from home for a very much needed vacation for the both of us. Mehr

Although the service and cleanliness were excellent, this was the smallest motel/hotel room we've ever stayed in in our lives!!

I had read the reviews of this hotel being close to the freeway, but we didn't notice any additional freeway noise with the a/c working. There is also an aerial tram right behind the hotel. The only problem we experienced was the bedspread was dirty. My granddaughter screamed that it had "boogers" on it, which it did look like that. We were on the 3rd […] floor so it was very quiet and the beds were comfortable. The surrounding area isn't the best and all the help including the office staff were all mexicans. We asked where the ice machine was and none of us could understand even what floor it was located. Our granddaughter finally found it in front of the hotel on the ground floor. For the money, we would return again. Mehr
