Sanctuary Beach Resort - Marina

Wer als Paar eine Auszeit braucht, ist hier gut aufgehoben. Erstklassiger Service (Empfang hat uns jeden Wunsch erfüllt), leckeres Essen im Restaurant und eine klasse lage direkt am Strand. Lediglich das Frühstück, das NUR im Zimmer gegessen werden kann, könnte besser sein.

Das Hotel liegt an einem langen, wunderschönen Sandstrand. Wenn man sich ein Zimmer mit Strandblick leistet, hat man einen unglaublichen Blick auf das Meer. Wir hatten unser eigenes Golf-Cart, was sehr praktisch war, da der Weg zum Parkplatz weit ist. Das Essen im Restaurant in der Anlage ist gut, das Personal nett. Der Blick ist den Preis wert!

They think of everything! The $10 a person breakfast in bed shouldn't be missed. The bonfire on the beach at sunset is a nice touch! We like to travel with our dogs and this is definitely a dog friendly hotel!

This hotel was fantastic. Right down on the beach. Incredible value. Very clean.

I was on my first visit to California and found this hotel online. I was amazed at how gorgeous the resort was! All of the staff were very friendly. You also get a golf cart to ride around in during your stay while on the resort, my boyfriend loved this idea! The only down fall is that the restaurant on the resort was not open very late and it took […] forever to get anything you ordered (food and drinks). overall I would absolutely come back! Mehr

Came down from San Jose (40 miles) for a romantic overnight celebration. Third time in the property but 1st in 4 years. It has a timeshare connection now vs independent. Overall, it’s the location and the view, right on Monterey Bay and a quick drive to dinner in Monterey. The property is large and the bungalow rooms are nestled into the dunes. Personal […] golf carts get you through the winding paths. Spotted a few whales and pelicans flying by in-formation from the room balcony. Quiet room and easy access to the beach. Showing some signs of wear – paint, lights not working over sink, grounds untidy in places, linens and bed great but the towels were worn . Attendant was personable. Stayed in a deluxe – one room – this time and would choose a suite again, next time. It’s a destination spot for a day or two. Spa on the property but we didn’t get to use it for the short stay. Great location on the beach. Very relaxing. A few minutes drive to Monterray and Carmel. Breakfast for $10 is great deal to start the day, delivered to room and staff does not hold out their hands for tips at every occasion.

This was our first stay at Sanctuary but it definitely won't be our last. The check in was quick and easy. The rooms were comfy, nicely decorated, and conveniently close to the pool and the beach. The staff was friendly and helpful. The on-site restuarant was delicious and decently prices.

Great stay, Bathroom was big clean and had a good shower head. Loved the Kurig coffee maker in room but wish they had better flavors besides hazelnut (maybe they were out of non flavored coffee). The view was fantastic and loved the golf carts. The bed was a little hard but I heard that they are getting new beds soon. Would definitely go back for the […] price! Mehr

Loved the fireplace, the electric carts provided to roam the property and keep motorized vehicles out of accommodations area of resort, and the $10pp continental breakfasts delivered to your room. Beautiful view of ocean and sunset, lovely amenities and accommodations. I would stay here again! My only complaint (small) was only one napkin delivered […] with breakfast for three people. All in all, a wonderful resort close to Monterey and Carmel. Mehr

This place was great. The rooms are very nicely decorated and come with everything. I would highly recommend the location to anyone who is looking for a relaxing place to get away.

If you like being away from the ig hotel/motel atmosphere, try The Sanctuary Beach Resort. Why? You can only get to your "room" in a golf cart and your "room" is atop a San dune less than 100 yards from the surf. I have nothing to be critical about but, candidly, would scream it out if I had. Best test: would We return? Yup an we will

Extremely pleasant place to stay. I would, and will stay at Sanctuary Beach Resort again. I really enjoyed the stay and the employees were very professional and accommodating.

My husband and I spend our anniversary here every year. We get the most amazing ocean views and a beautiful room with a fireplace. We recommend it to all our friends and family. We look forward to this getaway every year. Complete relaxation and rejuvination.

This was our first time at this hotel and we were more than satisfied! The beach is so close to the hotrl and taking a walkto the beavh in the morning was so cool! The bed was not the most comfortable but manageable...we would definately go again!

Beautiful hotel, the staff is very friendly and helpful. It's about 10/15 min to downtown Monterey but the views can't be beat and you are right on the beach which is so quiet and beautiful. Our room was gorgeous and I would totally come back. Plus, who doesn't love getting their own golf cart!

We arrived at Sunset the day before our anniversary. The views of the beach are wonderful. Usually when we visit the Monterey Bay area we spend our afternoons visiting local attractions, but we found this hotel so enjoyable that we chose instead just savoring the local beach and coziness of our room. The staff were very helpful.

We loved the location of the hotel and the room. We had a fabulous time sitting near the fire pit in the evening and watching the waves. The fireplace in the room, coupled with the sound of the waves, made for a very romantic evening. We had dinner at the restaurant on site, and, while we had a good time, the food hurt both of our stomachs. We both […] had difficulty sleeping due to upset stomachs all night. This certainly took from the overall experience. So, we would recommend the hotel for its location and rooms but not for the on-site dining. Enjoy the location, but eat elsewhere. Mehr

My only regret in this stay was that we weren't there when the weather was warmer. The view from our room was amazing and our only real complaint about the room itself was lack of garbage cans (there was one tiny one in the bathroom and a recycling bin) and we would have loved if the water bottles in the room had been complimentary. The golf carts were […] a great convenience, though a bit under-powered for the large hill they had to climb, and I really appreciated that they had covers on them to protect from the cold wind and rain we experienced. Also would have helped if the back seat on the cart was foldaway so we could fit more of our bags on in order to take them to the car. We were close enough to the places we needed to get to (10 minute drive) that the lack of things to do in the immediate area weren't that daunting. The beach was lovely! Mehr

We had a much better experience the last time we stayed here. Unfortunately the resort is under new ownership & things have really gone down hill. There was only one bellhop scheduled & it was a very busy Friday night. We all had to wait 10-15 minutes to be taken up to our rooms since they use golf carts to take you & your luggage to your spot on the […] property. I felt bad for him, he was rushing as fast as he could & some people were less than pleased with how long we had to wait. He was very nice & apologetic & had a great personality, even offered some tips on where to go. It was my birthday & the receptionist Katherine was wonderful, she went out of her way to try & make our stay special even though we couldn't get an upgrade. The room we stayed in was not as nice as I expected & I found hairs everywhere. The mattress was in need of replacing as well. The new owners have not kept up on maintenance or the standard of cleanliness you would expect for the price you're paying. I think we'll be staying somewhere else next time. Mehr

My girlfriend and I only stayed here one night but this place is amazing. We got upgraded to a premium ocean view suite, and the view was amazing. I highly recommend a stay here. It's a bit off the beaten path but that is what makes is special.

Setting can't be beat. Even in the rain the fireplace and cosy room was fabulous. Close to Monterey but really no reason to leave. Definety will return!

MY BF AND I SPENT OUR ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY HERE LAST WEEKEND. WE ARRIVED REALLY EARLY AND OUR ROOM WASNT READY YET BUT WE WERE OFFERED AN UPGRADE FOR A GREAT PRICE. ENDED UP WITH A OCEAN SUITE. IT WAS AMAZING! IT WAS AS COMFORTABLE AS BEING IN YOUR OWN HOME BUT WITH THE MOST AMAZING VIEWS AND SOUNDS OF THE OCEAN. DESPITE OUR BEST EFFORTS TO STAY AWAKE […] WE TOOK THREE NAPS THAT DAY LOL IT WAS THAT COMFY! THE RESTRAUNT WAS AMAZING AS WELL ALTHOUGH A BIT PRICEY FOR THA XTRA GOOD STUFF BUT A GOOD SELECTION TO CHOOSE FROM FOR MOST BUDGETS. I CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN! THIS IS DEF MY NEW FAVORITE HOTEL/RESORT. My girlfriend and I just went for a quick over night stay. We were totally satisfied all the way around!! Excellent experience!!

We werre warmly welcomed by the people in the service desk from the moment we arrived to checking out. The only regret we had was that we stayed for only one night...but we are making a future plan to visit again !

The only problem with this place was that I didn't allow enough time here! I was also under the impression that it was walking distance to Montery, definitely not!! But you get over that pretty easily when you wake up to the view of the ocean from your bed.

The beach-front hotel was quiet and we had a very nice view looking out from our room of the to see the sand dunes and a partial ocean-view. The views from full ocen view must be spetacular! If youa re going to Monterey, make sure you check this place out. Beautiful spacious rooms, fireplace, fire pit on the beach to watch sunsets, easy beach access, decent restaurant on site, and great staff. You are only a 15 minute drive to Cannery Row and 20 minutes to Carmel. Great place to use as a base for day trips or just relax and never leave […] the resort. We will be going back. Mehr

The wife and I live locally, and came here to enjoy a night away from the kids. It was a very nice place, and had an incredible view of the ocean (usually you only get one or the other, in my experience). It is a good distance from town, though I figure that's sort of the point, isn't it? The only point against the place is the transfer to your room […] from checkin. It requires a bellman to "escort" you there in a golf cart... Kinda cool, except it took the staff a while to get around to picking us up. Kinda lame. A minor dig, though, I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Mehr

The hotel was very nice and so was the staff. However, the only rooms with real 'ocean view' are on the second floors. First floor rooms only gives a view of the sand dunes. We ordered the 'ocean deluxe room' and had to ask to be moved to a room with a view. I had read that there were no night stands and figured it wouldn't be a bother, but it was. […] I liked to have my coffee in bed but there was no place to set it down. The gas fireplace was beautiful and kept the room nice. The hot tub was great! I didn't like that there was no place in the bathroom to set my stuff out. Petalstool sinks and no counter space. Place is very nice - but it was a bit weird having to drive a golf cart to and from your car- especially since the weather was 32 degrees in the morning. But staying right on the beach is nice.

We stayed here for the 1st 2 nights of our honeymoon, and were very happy! We had an Oceanfront deluxe room, which was nice, but it's really not ocean FRONT, just closer than some of the other options. Location was great for our purposes, we didn't mind driving into town (only 10 minutes), and enjoyed feeling like we were "escaping." Bed was SOOOOO […] comfortable, great room set up, fridge, sink, patio, table, chairs, desk. Very nice! We wished they had jacuzzi tubs, and if they had, we probably would have stayed here the entire week. Also, skip the spa. Nice ladies, good massages, but the ambiance is lacking-I felt like they stuffed us into a closet. All in all though, GREAT stay! Mehr

Hotel stay: I would have to say it was really pleasant place and quit too. Service: Really nice staff and decent customer service. Rooms: We got the suite room with particle ocean view. Very large room for two people. It would be just right for a family of five. Love the two tv setup they had there. Cons: Beware of the items they leave there for […] you to eat and drink! They charge outrageous price for those stuff! One last thing, the restaurant they have there is pretty nasty! I recommend going to Denny's down the street for better quality food. Mehr

As we pulled into the parking lot we realized this would not be an ordinary hotel stay. I travel to Monterey frequently for work and I usually stay in hotels in Carmel or downtown Monterey. This will be my new "usual" hotel! I can't decide if the golf carts, ocean view, beautiful scenery or the nightly bonfires are my favorite - they all made the stay […] feel like a true vacation even though I only stayed one night! Mehr
