Affinia Gardens - New York

Comfortable hotel with large rooms and full kitchen. Staff and hotel amenities are merely average. Great location on Upper East Side makes it a good choice for a stay in the city.

This a was perfect hotel to stay in for 5 days while staying near a family member in a NYC hospital. Good location, close to lots of places to eat and get food to keep in the room's kitchen.

If we could have stayed longer, we would have! Possibly the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in... Peaceful, quiet.. wonderful showehead too. Loved the place!!!

this affinia hotel is in need of a serious upgrade we usually stat at the shelborne and were expecting something like that hotel and we were very disappointed.

This is our third stay in an Affinia hotel in Manhattan. We have like them all but really loved the Affinia Gardens. More intimate scale, with only 12 rooms on each floor, facing a medical office building in a peaceful residential neighborhood. Loved the open,, fresh modern aesthetic of the room - huge for a studio, beautiful fabrics, with plenty of […] lamps, lots of natural light, a really comfy King size bed, pristine new bathroom, great kitchen to store our yummy leftovers from Union Square Cafe and EATely., Peaceful, location. Enjoyed the stay in this hotel. 4 blocks to central park zoo and 2 blocks to the subway station. There are a couple of garages next door and you can get a good deal if you use the early bird discount during week days. The room was spacious and well maintained. The bathroom was small but nothing to complaint. The kitchen was a added bonus. There is a […] 24 hour CVS close by. The downside is there is no free internet and the free channels in the TV where not clear. Mehr

We had a great experience with this hotel. Very friendly stuff and great room too!. We had a small but nice and clean kitchen, and a nice little bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. Our son slept on the couch that was converted into a queen size bed and he had a good night sleep. The most amazing value ever. On a business trip, a two bedroom suite, with a large living room and conference table gave me flexibility in preparing for morning presentation I would never have had otherwise. Very nice surprise!

I was delighted with this intimate hotel with a superior helpful staff - in particular the doorman who went to great lengths to help me with some packaging. Terrific coffee in the Lobby and my room had the most amazing patio - a true oasis in New York and very well located.

Definitely not a 5-star place, but generally clean (I THINK there was a hint of cigarette smoke in some of the linens), and sensibly if not lavishly furnished. I didn't try room service or make any other demands on the staff, so no opinion to offer there. Anyway, a good enough hotel at what is a remarkably fair price in NYC. If possible to get a room […] there, I'd probably prefer the Yale Club as it's the same general quality with better amenities under the roof and much better prices. I had the best room I have ever had in my extensive travels and times spent in hotels. It was beautiful and even had its own patio garden to sit in. The staff was also very friendly and accomodating when i requested a later check out time.

hotel recommended., it was located in a very nice street ,safe and was very close to shopping, The room allocated to me was very comfortable and had a selfcomtained kitchen and was very spacious.. I would certainly stay there again when travelling to NYC.

This hotel used to be apartments, so your room is literally an apartment. Thus, you have a kitchen with a fridge, stove, sink within a huge room, which is really convenient. It is also in a pretty good location (upper east side) which puts it close enough to main attractions to be really convenient, but not too close that you get stuck in the tourist […] trap of times square area, which also keeps the price very affordable for what you get. My wife and I work in the city, but live in PA, and we stay over when we want to see a show or have a work function. So we are always looking for new places to stay that are convenient and not over the top in cost. This place is it. The service was also very friendly, homey, and not pretentious, which again is because it's not in the tourist trap area of Midtown. Everything is within a cab or subway ride in the city, so being away from the center of Manhattan is better anyway, and because it's the upper east side, the clientele and area is very homey and not overly crowded and pushy. And of course, it's NYC, so there are great restaurants and eateries close by that are affordable. We highly recommend this place. (Minor note: valet parking is good and convenient, but there are garages all around including one that is just at the end of block - on 64th just past the hotel - so park it yourself and you'll save a little money.) Accommondating and curteouse staff. A great value.

This hotel was perfect for our family of five. I had to be in classes all day so the apartment style set up made it very convenient for my husband to keep the kids comfortable. There was minimal noise because the hotel is in a more residential area, though, we still felt close to all of the tourist attractions. I gave 4s for cleanliness because the […] carpets are a bit dingy but it's otherwise clean. We'll definately stay there again. Mehr

I spent a week in New York. The Affinia Gardens Hotel met my needs well. I practice Yoga, and the Junior Suite had great floor space for that. Having a small kitchen was also a huge advantage (leftovers from restaurant dinners became my breakfast the next day). By Manhattan standards it's very fairly priced, and it's in a fine neighborhood for restaurants […] and subway access. A few appliances were in less than stellar shape (the TV was a bit fuzzy, the hair-dryer was broken, the kitchen trash basket lid was detached, the shower didn't fully switch the water from bath to shower-head so water pressure was slightly degraded) but I found these problems not at all important in the grand scheme of things. (I realize, however, that if I had visited with my wife, she might have found these appliance issues more problematic, especially the hair dryer.) Mehr

I recently stayed at the Affinia Gardens and overall the hotel was pleasant and comfortable. The colour scheme and lighting however, made the hotel seem very gloomy and upon entry did not feel welcoming. The internet photographs portray a different aspect altogether. Apart from this, my room ws clean and having a kitchenette was very convenient. If […] you are looking for a hotel in a quiet neighbourhood this is a good choice but is quite a distance from Lincoln Center, theatre district and other entertainment. Great bargain! The room was very clean and comfortable. The only drawback was the noise outside (horns tooting at 6:00 a.m.), which is probably the same with all hotels in major cities.

We needed a place on the upper east side and this was just perfect. We were very lucky and even got street parking, which I normally wouldn't do in NYC, but the neighborhood was nice, so I took the chance. The lobby is small, but well-appointed. The room was very large and included a small kitchette area, as well as a sizable sitting area. Bathroom […] was clean and suitable. As someone who can appreciate the smaller touches, I loved that the room even had a lit mirror and cushioned seat for applying make-up or doing one's hair. If you need a place on the upper east side, this is it. The staff was very friendly too. And if you need a gas station because getting through the Lincoln Tunnel takes an hour during the holidays, then you will be grateful to know one is just three blocks from the hotel. Mehr

THIS HOTEL IS GREAT. LARGE ROOMS WITH KITCHENS. LOCATED IN A CONVENIENT SPOT IN NEW YORK CITY.

Even though the hotel is closer to Central Park than other must-see sights, access to those sights was very easy, either by bus, taxi or metro. We appreciated our stay very much and would have stayed longer if we could. The room accommodated all five of us. The kitchennette was very convenient and we were able to save a little money on food. We stayed here for one night while visiting some family. Booked the hotel 48 hours in advance and got a great deal for a one-bedroom suite. The room was fantastic, and had an enormous balcony with table and chairs - we had dinner and drinks outside. The room was very large, clean, and comfortable. The only one small disappointment was that we had two […] double beds instead of a king. I was not about to complain though, considering how nice the room was otherwise. The manager and staff were very friendly, and we would definitely return if we could get a good rate again. Mehr

great location near the park, large rooms, more like appartments with own kitchen and friendly helpful staff. Not cheap but not over-priced either.

Took my parents for their first visit to New York. The hotel is really handy. Supermarket, restaurants, subway station, and Avis /Hertz are just around the corner. The 2xQueen suite we stay in is of good size. The only thing I would like is complimentary internet rather than having to pay.

Stayed three times as good rate during Peak Xmas holiday season. Location is not great, nice cosmetic upgrades but motel quality heating and AC. Bathrooms are minimal with almost no place to put personal items.

Everything about this hotel is great; big apartments (the one-bedroom can sleep six very comfortably) with full kitchens. The only caveat is watch out for the "extra guest" fee. It drove the price way up and $50/person - for a couple of towels!? - is really ridiculous.

This place is great for those who want a larger room with a kitchen. A little out of the way but much larger than normal room size that would accomidate a small family of four. A good value for the money.

The room was big, the bathroom small and decoration to bland. A little bit pricey for what they offer. No luxuries for the price.

This hotel was exactly what I expected. Quaint without being ultra homey, neat without being boring. Room size was great in the Junior suite, convenient to shopping, the Park, and T Square. If you're looking for a neighborhood feel, you'll love this one...

Everytrhing about my stay was perfect and outstanding. I would give this hotel ab excellent rating and ideed plan to return in the future.

We had a pleasant 4-night stay in a suite that exceeded our expectations in this price range. The room was clean and comfortable, plus very spacious and quiet. (I would recommend this to families, especially.) We attempted to check in around 4 p.m. on a Wednesday and we were told that we were being "upgraded" to a room on the 11th floor. We were told […] that the room would not be ready for three hours, and that we could leave our luggage and return. We did this. Upon our return, we were told that our room was not ready. (By 7 pm, we wanted to freshen up and go out for dinner. My spouse's displeasure was visible.) There was some fumbling around, and some muttering about having only one staff person to do the housekeeping, etc. We were offered another room on the 9th floor which was ready. We accepted. The bellman was then told that the room had been for another guest and would he please remove the flowers and gift when he showed us to the room. (Odd.) No apologies, no mention of the previously promised "upgrade." The place is busier on weekends than midweek, so for guests arriving midweek, I'd recommend that you call on your arrival date to make sure they actually have a room ready for you. Otherwise you may get the same treatment and delays. Other than this unpleasantness, this is a very good hotel in a very good location. I would stay here again. Mehr

The people at the hotel were extremely helpful and friendly. I don't think you could get a bigger room in Manhatten for the price. My wife and I were impressed. Would definetly stay there again.

Jag bodde 5 nätter på Affinia Gardens med min familj i december 2011. Lägenheten, 2 rok, var ren och snygg, köket litet men funktionellt, två tv-apparater och fräsch wc/dusch. Personalen var alltid trevlig och tillmötesgående. Den dagliga städningen av lägenheten var bra. Läget på hotellet var perfekt: ca 800 m till central park och Zoo, bara ett stenkast […] från Lexington, Madison och 5th Ave med bra shopping. Nära hotellet låg tre ok restaurangen som även hotellet rekomenderar: Silver Star (en lokal diner med god mat), Kina Fun (Kina krog med bra utbud) och Jacksson Hole (trång liten krog med ok mat). Kvaliten var bäst på Silver Star, de andra i fallande ordning. Vi kan absolut tänka oss att bo på Affinia igen! /Anders, Stockholm Mehr

Me quedé con mi esposa y mis dos hijos adolescentes en una suite de excelente tamaño. Dos camas king y un sofa-cama adicional muy comodos. La suite impecablemente mantenida y bien equipada con cocina tipo kitchinet. La ubicación exceldente, como a 5 cuadras de Central Park y la zona mas activa de Manhattan. No tiene estacionamiento pero a 50 mts hay […] uno donde puedes dejar tu vehículo por 40$ diarios. No incluye desayuno, pero tiene varios restaurantes cerca que te sirven en la habitación, aunque no es muy buena la calidad de este servicio. En general, buena opción para ir con la familia. Mehr
