Ramada Biltmore West - Asheville

The room seemed cleaned but the hotel was vert run down - in need of repairs and updates - not worth the room charge even though it was Asheville NC. Would not recommend to friends.

It was just what I was looking for. It met my expectations and the price was very good. Very nice facility.

This hotel was every bit of 4-star status. The room was immaculate, and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was friendly, the check-in process speedy, and the overall experience was great.

this hotel is nice. it's only a few miles from downtown so it's very convenient to many areas of Asheville. The hotel was clean and bedding was nice and comfortable. The atrium is beautiful and the pool is nice. The pool and hot tub were cool, my kids didn't want to swim for more than a few minutes and the hot tub was cooler than bath water... disappointing. […] The breakfast was just ok, I think if they would've had something warm like biscuits and gravy or something would've added a lot. the interior part seemed much nicer than the exterior. next time I would definitely get an interior room and go outside to smoke.

The hotel was in a great location. We were happy with that but the hotel is older and the rooms had repair issues. One room didn't even have a smoke detector. Pool was clean Hot Tub was foamy and was overly chlorinated. Someone threw up in the atrium and despite calling the desk it wasnt cleaned up until the next day. Noisy brought about by having an outside room where there was a lot of traffic and noise from people on the same floor. Dirty curtains near the door gave a really bad first impression.

We did receive a smoking king size room which is what we requested. However, what we didn't know is we were moved into a handicap room. We were told this was due to overbooking, even though the parking lot was never full. Business seemed dead as a doornail. Also, the room had no refrigerator, hair dryer, neither a working light above the vanity outside […] the bathroom, nor a working heat lamp in the bathroom. I live 5 minutes from this hotel. Me and my son just needed to escape for a few days. The staff was very friendly. They have a big indoor pool, indoor hot tub, game room, indoor putt putt, pool tables, and fitness room. I was a bit disappointed in the contential breakfast. I figured that they would have more hot items or cereal selections. The room […] was very nice. we had two double beds and a pull out sofa. However, the pull out sofa was broken and I was disappointed that they did not have roll away cribs. The rooms was very outdated compared to the facilities outside the rooms. The Biltmore Ramada West is hard to beat for the money. Continental breakfast worked out well with waffles, sausage and biscuits.

First of all, we were almost knocked over by the smell of old smoke when we opened the door to our non-smoking room. Then we put things on the table and it almost fell over. Add to that the bathroom light that only came on when it felt like it, the faucet that ran water not only in the sink but also on the countertop, and the beds that were hard as […] bricks, and you have a less than optimal stay. I booked the room partly for the indoor pool, whirlpool, and sauna. The whirlpool was out of order, the sauna was filthy, and we didn't even try the pool (although it did look OK). The continental breakfast was great, and the rest of the hotel looked nice. Maybe they just hadn't got around to remodeling our room yet. To be fair, we did not complain to the staff or ask for a different room, which they may well have been willing to do. Mehr

Interior rooms are much nicer than the exterior rooms. My only complaint is that the hot tub was out of order. This hotel is well worth the price for all of the amenities available.

Have stayed at this hotel twice now. It's just a few exits from all kinds of attractions. Would be nicer if they got the hot tub fixed. Was there in June, and again in December, and it still wasn't fixed. And the formerly free breakfast at IHOP is now an in-hotel continental breakfast, but it was good with a lot of choices. The Ramada Inn West in Asheville provided us with a very enjoyable stay. The room was very clean and comfortable. Although it was New Year's Eve, the area was quiet and restful. My only suggestion for improvement is to sweep the leaves from the walkway in front of the rooms. We will stay there again when we return to Asheville.

The room smelled like cigarettes the bathroom was very dirty looking and the shower clogged up every time u took a shower. It took an hour or so for the water to drain out from clogging up. The toioet was not so clean along with the shower was very filthy Especially if u have kids it was a very uncomfortable stay.

Interior area with the pool and seating was beautiful with the Christmas trees set up. The rooms were so so, nothing amazing but not bad. The staff was very friendly.

We booked this place because it had a heated pool annd Jacuzzi. Well the Jacuzzi (as written in a previouser review) is still broken and the pool is not heated, lobby waterfall is empty ,yoilets dont work well. It looks and feels like they are going out of business because they are letting the place fall apart . It is sad because you can see that with […] some updating this place coukd be 4 atar Mehr

We were given a room at exterior of everything -- w/o wifi signal and ineffective A/C. We were not sure why since the hotel was not busy at all.

Re: Tuesday – 11/22 to Saturday 11/26/11 I enjoyed my stay at the Ramada. My room was very pleasant and larger than other hotels in the area. Since I was in the Executive Suite, it might account for the large room which I enjoyed. I called earlier and requested a room where I did not have far to walk since I have a problem, and was pleasantly surprised […] with my accommodation. I did not have a car and was happy to find I-Hop attached to your hotel, also Applebees adjacent to the parking lot. The past two times I’ve been in Asheville I stayed at the Holiday Inn next to you. They offer a nice hot buffet, which you pay for, but if you miss it, there is nothing all day till 6pm when they reopen their on site restaurant. Last month we had to wait an hour to get checked in and could not get a cup of coffee. If you are already checked in you can get room service. We couldn’t. We did have a car and could have driven somewhere, but we didn’t know how long it would take to check in. Your bed was very comfortable and I plan to order some pillows on line from your site. My son lives nearby you so next time I come to Asheville I plan to stay with you. This time I used you local taxi services and found them dependable. They charged me $31 to the airport, which I found reasonable. Sincerely, Mehr

PEOPLE WERE WONDERFUL

Clean room. The heat was a little difficult to regulate. It is was either too hot or too cold. Overall it as fine.

We got a great price which made the stay good vs just ok. Hotel is old, but was clean.

This hotel stay was average...the price we paid was a special price for that time, otherwise the hotel would not have been a great choice. We arrived an hour early and the male desk clerk at that time was not a very friendly face. The evening clerk was more accomodating and friendly, she had a big smile and great attitude. The room itself was basic […] in need of updating, i could justify this room for the price was low compared to others and we spent most of our time seeing the sights and events instead of staying inside. If you're not staying too long and looking for a reasonable rate, then this hotel is sufficient. However, the television had very poor reception, that blacked out channels. Also, the toilet was slow in flushing and overflowed leaving particles on the bathroom floor. House cleaning finally cleaned the bathroom. The sink was also clogged and needed plumbing. […] Maintenance came after one hour to unclog the sink. Other than those things, the hotel was alright. Mehr

My family and I stayed here Nov 4-6..the door was very hard to get unlocked which wouldnt have been an issue had our room not been outside so needless to say coming from the indoor pool to the outside trying to get our door open it took us 15 mins I have 4 kids and they all were freezing..also there was only one working lamp in the room the rest were […] missing bulbs..loved the location and the kids loved the indoor pool though it could have been heated alittle warmer! The hotel is very old with construction going on. The rooms need updating - some of the wall plugs didn't work. Breakfast was the best part - very nice. No handicap access which meant I had to lug my suitcases up the stairs! Train goes by at 5:00 am which woke me up each day.

Having stayed at hundreds of hotels I would say this hotel was one of the worst!!! Not only was the hotel shabby, but staff was even worse. We rented two rooms, no phone books, thermostat didnt work on heat, tub would not drain, ceiling in bathroom peeling off. Even after confronting front desk nothing was fixed for the two nights we were there. The […] rooms had a terrible musky odor and we asked to change rooms if the repairs couldnt be done and were told it wasnt possible. But you know there is a problem with quality when you have Days Inn phones in a Ramada Inn room!!!! Mehr

While the sheets were clean, the TV worked, and the bathroom sink, toilet and tub were clean, I still felt like everything was dirty, i.e., needed to wear my shoes so I didn't walk on the carpeting, stains, condition of bathroom fixtures, walls, and flooring were deplorable. I stayed here for four nights and have mixed feelings about the place. Room is nice and the bed was great; had everything I needed including microwave and refrigerator. Continental breakfast has a wide selection of food items. I am disappointed with the pool though. I originally picked this hotel because of the pool. The picture of the pool area fooled […] me. It was very dirty to a point where I did not feel comfortable swimming in it. There was garbage on pool floor and surface. The hot tub was closed and under construction. I had noticed from previous comments that it was closed since August and one other comment that the pool was closed by health inspection. I had a funny feeling that this particular Ramada is struggling to keep the pool clean and they struggle to build a new hot tub. If you wanted a place with a nice clean pool and a working hot tub, do not come here. If you just need a comfortable hotel room to stay and don't plan on swimming, this hotel is for you. Mehr

I was very diappointed with this hotel. I took a group of international students and we had a total of three rooms. The guys' room had no heat. They changed rooms for the second night. The bathtub in my room was disgusting -- lots of mold. Hotel overall run-down. The breakfast was also a disappointment, considering that one of the "selling points" was […] the adjacent IHOP. Evidently they bring over a few items from the IHOP and that's it. Bad selection, long line, only one toaster which took forever. I was very embarassed that I took students there. Run, don't walk, in the opposite direction from this place. Mehr

With the name Biltmore attached to it, I thought it would be a splendid property. It probably once was. It reminded me of a grand old dame, who's time weathered cracks are glaringly visible under the facade of her cosmetic enhancement. In other words, a beautiful indoor atrium and pools are there, but the paint is peeling and cracking everywhere. Fountains […] are not working and the large atrium had an almost ghost-like feeling to it. Some of the following occurred during my 5 day stay: door to room would not open; had it re-keyed twice; desk clerks were not overly friendly, and could not be concerned with visitor complaints (not just mine; I heard others while I was waiting at the desk). Two of the three pools were not working; no hot tub working at all. That would have been nice to know ahead of time as we were there for 5 days. But I really am getting tired of hotels advertising free wi-fi when the connection is so poor that it takes 20 to 30 minutes to get a connection, then 10 minutes between each function. The location - on the far west end of Asheville - was very inconvenient to downtown or any tourist attraction at all, for that matter. What was good about it? The generous breakfast buffet served each morning until 10 am and the lobby computer that did have a good internet connection. Mehr

This place has seen better days..... everything was a little run down and the heater was difficult to control plus very noisy. It did have lots of hot water for showers.

I elected to stay at this hotel despite some negative reviews about it's upkeep because of it's close location and greatly raved hot/full serve breakfast (there is an attached IHOP). I found the pool area under construction, however the rest of the hotel was not as bad as I was led to believe. It is an older model for sure, however, the staff are taking […] steps to keep things up. The breakfast was great. You could chose to have hot or cold cereal, yogurt, juices, coffee, and direct from IHOP to the hotel - pancakes, sausage and scrambled eggs! I was a happy camper there. The bed was comfy, with ample pillows - six to be exact for a queen bed. I also got a free upgrade when I got there. The only really negative things I can say about my experience is that the door keys were a little difficult to get to open the door (locking wasn't an issue), and that on the second day I came across an upside-down, live cockroach on my dresser! Although this grossed me out for sure, I squished him successfully and chalked it up to the fact that I was not longer in VT, but in the warmer climbs of NC! But I will leave that to your comfort level. I can tell you that although I checked for additional "friends" in my room every chance I got, I never came across another one during my 4 day stay there. Tub stopped up, no maintenance or plunger. Room had a smell, sink was broken, tub was dirty. Changed room and toilet wouldn't work, had to go back to old room just to use toilet. Big mistake!!

The TV was in bad shape (HBO had awful feedback) but they told me that they'll be replacing all their TV's soon. For the price, it can't be beaten, though you should calculate the cost of transportation into town before figuring how much you'll save.

I had heard good and bad things about this hotel so I wasn't sure what to expect. Everything turned out great. It was a nice stay. The room was quiet and clean (I had heard stories). Breakfast was excellent. Front Desk was nice and happy to help. Definitely will stay there again.

The staff was very helpful. We were booked into the wrong room type and the front desk staff resolved the issue quickly and pleasantly.

Right near the I-40 exit, with an IHOP on site, but we went for the free b-fast, which was pretty good. Needed 2 beds for 3 ppl, but got a room w/ a pull out couch, which was great.
