Wir möchten immer ein Zimmer zum Hof haben und nicht eines im angrenzenden Hotelgebäude. Ich habe deshalb schon die teurere Zimmerkategorie gebucht mit 2 Betten. Aber wie letztes Mal 10 Dollar Upgrade gezahlt. Aber dafür super freundlicher Service. Super Preis Leistungsverhälltnis für San Francisco und tolle lage zu Fuß 5-10Minuten zur Fisherman-Warf. Auch parken für 12 Dollar in San Francisco ,es sind es in den meisten anderen Hotels 25-50 Dollar.Jederzeit wieder.

Das Hotel liegt in der Geary St. ein paar Blocks vom Union Square. Wir hatten ein Zimmer im zweiten Stockwerk im Mittelgang, was den großen Vorteil hat, dass man den Straßenlärm nicht mitbekommt, sondern nur den gelegentlichen Lärm den andere Gäste verursachen. Die Zimmer haben nur ein kleines Fenster mit einem wenig schönen Ausblick auf den Innenhof. Das Continental Breakfast besteht aus Kaffee, Toast m. Butter u. Marmelade, O- bzw. Apfelsaft u. einem Stück Obst. Problematisch ist die Parkplatzsituation, da gleich vor der Haustür eine Bushaltestelle ist und ansonsten i.d.R. nur Parkplätze für Kurzparker vorhanden sind. Das Hotel bietet für 30 $ p. Tag einen Valetparkservice an, d.h. es kommt jemand u. parkt das Auto irgendwo, was sehr gut funktioniert hat. Das Hotel liegt zwar in der Nähe des Unionsquare aber auch sehr dicht am Tenderloin Bezirk, den man vor allem Nachts meiden sollte. Insgesamt kann ich das Hotel vom Preis - Leistungsverhältnis weiter empfehlen!

"The Donatello Hotel - Great Place to Stay!"
Stayed 4 nights, rented 3 hotels rooms for family members. A very positive experience for all of us - the staff was very friendly and accommodating, the location was within easy walking distance of Union Square, Chinatown, Westfield Shopping Centre, and many great restaurants. Enjoyed the jazz at the Zingari Ristorante on the 2nd floor. The room was […] large (for San Francisco) with a king size bed and pull-out sofa. Called the hotel a few days early to get advice about transportation and Joe arranged transportation with Manuel for rides from and back to the airport. Manuel was great - very prompt and he even picked us up the next morning to take us to our tour meeting place! The only negative thing was that our 6th floor room overlooked a patio area, where a loud party was held til the early morning hours one night, and several other nights there were loud smaller gatherings. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of our room and location of this hotel. Our room was so nice, comfortable, and spacious! Hot tub, sauna, and gym upstairs. Great location for Bay to Breakers! Would definately stay there again!

The front desk staff are great, know their rooms really well. The girl asked us if we would mind waiting half an hour to put us in a room with more space (as there was 3 of us travelling). "Great Place to Stay!!"
Hotel was close to Union Square and cable cars, lots of shopping and restaurants. Hotel staff was excellent!!! Hotel was very clean and polished, room was very clean and comfortable! The only downfall was that the corner that the hotel sits on was a bit noisy.

Large and comfortable rooms with huge bed, friendly staff, good service. The free WiFi was not very good and kept dropping out so we had to keep reconnecting. "Good value hotel"
This hotel was chosen because I was travelling with my 11 year old twins and we wanted to be close to Union Square and Chinatown. We had to wait for the sleeper sofa to be made-up after check-in, how they thought 3 of us could sleep on the queen size, not king bed, I don't know.Having a fridge and microwave was very useful, it meant we didn't have to […] go find breakfast every morning. If I had been with my husband I'd have stayed at the Inter Continental for the same price. Nothing luxurious about this place, the windows needed cleaning and the bathroom showing age, why have a hand-held shower! If you walked in the wrong direction, you would be in the Tenderloin district which is not a nice area to be strolling. Had a few issues with hot water and wifi. Considering you are so near tech valley the wifi was pretty awful. But on the whole a great hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, would stay again.

"Nice hotel near Union Square"
We enjoyed our stay at the Donatello. The room decor seems somewhat outdated, but everything was clean and the location was great. Not super fancy, but comfortable and convenient The staff were all friendly and helpful. The only complaint was the wifi internet connection was bad, as was cell phone reception.

Nice room with lots of space and small kitchen with basic utensils. But - we were on the 5th floor and still had a lot of disturbing noise from the street most of the night. Nice top floor sitting area both indorrs and and a small terrace

Great hotel and perfect location. The room was big and very clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. Fino's Italian Restaurant a block away was terrific. Union square and great shopping, just a block away.

A sore knee and the hills of SF are not a good mix. The hotel location helped us out. We were 2 blocks from Union Square shopping and the Powell cable car line, 4 blocks from the BART and shopping at Westfield, Many good quality restaurants near and the concierges were very knowledgeable. Very nice hotel and a very convenient location close to Union Square. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was quite big and had a refrigerator and micro wave. Overall, a good experience
"Everything great but the gym"
This was a great hotel - would highly recommend. The only negative thing I have to comment on is the gym - it's a tiny little room with limited equipment and no tv, and it doesn't open til 7 am.
"No Internet!"
All the other reviews for this hotel are spot on but they DO NOT have wireless Internet in the room. They will apologize profusely and promise to reboot the system, but it just does not work. If you need an Internet connection in your room.........keep looking. If connection doesn't matter.........this place is great.

Rooms are huge, plus you get a microwave, frig in room. Bed was comfy. 5 star service. Very clean, and a great hotel. 2nd time staying here, love it. It is also close to all the theatres and a quick 15 min bus ride to the warf

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Donatello Hotel in San Francisco on November 6-9, 2010. It has the perfect location next to Union Square, the Cable Cars and Chinatown and the service is strictly first-class. The price can’t be beat given the location of the hotel and the clean, spacious, well-appointed room with all the conveniences. Unlike the pricey high rises in the area, The Donatello remains close enough to earth so I could enjoy the wonderful sights and sounds of downtown San Francisco from my perch on the ninth floor. The Donatello Hotel was simply one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in, everything was so clean and staff are more than helpfull to everyone. The hotel is so well situated for easy access round the city and you are in easy walking distance for everything you need. I would certainly stay there again without question as the rooms are so big and […] comfortable. Do use the public transport it is so easy to use and takes you everywhere you want to go, buy one of the travel card which will allow access to all modes of public transport we bought two at $20 each for three days and it saved us at least $50 between us so do make use of it. It's a wonderfull city with so much to do and see so take advantage of the trips and in particular Alcatraz. Mehr

"Excellent location at a very reasonable price"
The room was huge with a dressing area and a little kitchen area, invaluable, especially the fridge. There was also a 'club' room on the roof which served complimentary, tea, coffee and hot chocolate all day, this was also a useful area when we arrived too early to check in and we were also able to us it on check out day.

San Francisco was our last stop on a four week holiday and we were exhausted. We were going to stay at another hotel around the corner which was recommended by a friend but I decided to look for feedback on hotels in the area and came across this gem. Very close to the heart of SF - Union Square and shopping!! It's central to everything and the staff […] were EXTREMELY friendly. Our experience in the US hadn't been the best and we encountered lots of unhelpful and rude people. The Donatello staff put our faith back in the US and was the highlight of our trip. the hotel is in union square so it's accessible to bart,cable cars , buses and tram. near shopping areas and buses for hop on hop off. there are homeless people in surrounding areas but its populated enough to feel ok walking even at night

Hotel was clean and the staff friendly and helpful. There is a small gym on the top floor and a pleasant longe with free 24/7 coffee available. The location is ideal as only one block from Union Square and easy to access buses, cable cars etc. There is plenty to see and do in the area and although other reviewers have mentioned the street noise at night, […] this is to be expected from such a central location and didn't bother us. One warning however, there is a $28 plus tax per day charge for car parking. We stayed for 6 nights in July 2010, 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Very pleased with the standard and size of the room. Kitchen facilities were very useful (fridge, microwave and sink). We would definately recommend this hotel. Great location for Union square and shops. Very friendly staff.

The Donatello was a great place to stay. We were there 10 days and never felt crowded or crampt. Very spacious, clean and everyone was extremely friendly. Having stayed in Vegas & LA also this holiday , i have to say that all though the Donatello was the cheaper of the 3 Hotels . It was by far our favourite, for location, size of room, staff and most of all the Wet bar , its a good send and i would recommend & revisit this hotel without hesitation .
