Kingston Plantation Condos - Myrtle Beach

Although the room was beginning to show its age, the easy access to the beach trumped any of my misgivings. And, I got my Hilton Honors points! I would book it again.

We stayed in South Hampton 402, an ocean view two bedroom/two bath condo, closest to the road side of the building. It was quiet, comfortable, clean and has a killer master bathroom. My husband and I and our recent college grad daughter stayed and it was perfect for us. We didn't cook but it seemed well equipped and we hated to leave.

This was a well needed getaway for my family and myself. When arriving at the location, we were very impressed with the Landscape and the overall professionalism of the staff. Once we got into our rooms that all changed. the faded out 1970's furniture looked as if it hadnt been clean, refreshed or even updated in years. The light blue carpet was disgustingly […] stained and dirty and the appliances in the kitchen were dirty as well. To top this all off the bathroom had paint over everything, to make it seem"newly painted" but even that didnt make up for the discusting stand up shower in which we wore flip flops in because the tile was in desperate need to be stripped out. The biggest wakeup call for me when during checkout, I noticed myself among 3 other women were checking out at the same time and not one desk clerk ask the question "how was your stay" they just kinda rambled on about the weather, which is unusual for any hotel or resort not to ask that question. My thoughts on that? They are trained not to ask! Because they know what the responses will be. What a waste of money. If it wasn't for the fact that we went thru a third party vendor for the purchase of the room, we would have left and gotten our money back! Mehr

The hotel/condo complex was very nice. The unit we stayed in was a quad-plex condo. We were on the bottom floor. The room was great. We especially liked the kitchen. The washer and dryer were really loud when being run, so could not do a load at night. The unit was a decent walk from the beach, but very close to the tennis-courts and indoor pool. There […] is a shuttle around the complex and golf carts can be rented. It looks like the complex was under repair before the summer months hit. The maintenance crew was painting and repairing several condos and we needed to move out car to prevent cross spray. The only real complaint was the internet. The hotel charges 9.95/day (24-hour) access and it is only complimentary to GOLD or Platinum HHonors members. Overall the stay was great and we would be willing to stay there again, although we might look to stay closer to the beach. Mehr

I ended up at this hotel after another hotel I booked changed my reservation at the last minute. Soooo happy that it happened. I loved the ocean front location and all of the amenities. You will feel like home.

Carpet needed cleaning, felt dirty and was spotted. The room had the appointments of an old Holiday Inn room from 15 years ago.

The room was nice and clean, the staff was nice and very helpful. We didn't have to drive far to get groceries or to go shopping. Their are lots of things to do (swimming, arcade, spa, gym, bar, water park)onsite. Our late night walk to the beach was nice. The neighborhood was peaceful, we felt safe with security on patrol. Nice facility. Would rather not have paid for the resort fee I didn't use but I understand it would be hard to separate that. Beds in our room were very hard and I had top sleep on top on the covers (folded over) to get any sleep. The refrigerator ( which apparently was a loaner) was noisey.

The condo was very comfortable with impressive upgrades. We enjoyed having 3 flat screen TVs, washer/dryer and the granite was a nice touch! The children loved having access to several swimming pools, the water park, as well as the beach. We did venture out and found local attractions to be rather close to Kingston Plantation. Our most recent trip was the 3rd time we stayed here. The first & 2nd time was just me and my husband in a villa, 2nd time in the Embassy Hotel in a suite, and this last time with our 4 kids (ages 4 and under) in a villa. Everytime has been wonderful!! There is a fantastic Splash pool for kids of all ages that our kids LOVED. The property is immaculate […] and the rooms are very clean and nicely furnished. We also took the kids for a run in the stroller and they have beautiful walking paths. I highly recommend this hotel for everyone, especially families. Mehr

I was impressed because my room was right by the elevator. I checked in with an orthopedic boot on my foot, so that was very convenIent.The pool and beach was easy to get to. And. Shuttle service was available. Everything was close by from eating, too shopping and the spa.

We have stayed here before. Last time we had three live roaches in our room. We really liked the location and the hotel grounds, so we decided to try it again. This time we stayed in a 3 bedroom condo. The size was good but the condo was very outdated and old. I had to clean the refrigerator and the cabinets before we could use them. Two of the rooms […] had 2 twin beds, which was not convenient for an adult couple. The floors were covered with dirt and hair. The entryway was covered in cob webs. The blinds were torn and bent. The furniture was very outdated and tacky. We really do think this could be a nice hotel, but unfortunately they have not taken care of the condos. Perhaps staying in the main hotel would be nicer. As much as I like the large rooms and the area, I do not see us staying here again. Mehr

The beach is clean and well suited for families. The check in folks were kind and professional. My only complaint was about the cleanliness of the room. There was left over garbage (empty water bottle under the night stand and goldfish crackers on the floor), we had no cups and the closet had one of the cleaning crew's brooms in it and looked like there […] had been some problems with the shelves (not repaired). Notified the front desk personnel about these issues and they were inappropriately concerned but nothing offered for compensation. Mehr

Wifi should be included in the price. Housekeeping people we encountered seemed confused. I think this place is a little pricey for what you get, but it was a comfortable stay with no problems. I would stay there again, but only if I got a better price.

The review should have noted that the Laurel Lodge had a full kitchen. This would allow guests the ability to purchase food in advance of their stay. Otherwise, our stay was pleasant and the staff was very courteous. I also highly commend this facility for allowing outside family/friends to use their pools and water park.

Our room was OK. However one of the two elevators was not working and had been broken for a week (any number of staff corroborated). This is a 16 story hotel with 1 working elevator. It was most inconvenient during check-in/check-out/house-cleaning cart times.

I stayed in Kingston Plantation Condos, an extension of the Embassy suites that is owned by the chain. The town house we stayed in was wonderful, clean and spacious. It had two bedrooms and even a third floor loft that served as a third bedroom so there was plenty of room for the seven people that we had with us. Beds were comfy and condo was equipped […] with furniture and kitchen ware. Hotel fees gave us access to all resort luxuries even though we weren't staying in the main tower including pools, bars, fitness facilities and more. While it was a seven minute walk to the shore our parking pass allowed us to park right in front of the hotel tower where we could walk just behind the building to the shore. The only complaint that we had was that check in was so late in the day... at 4 pm -- which didn't give us much time to get ready before the concert we were going to see at seven thirty. Also, while the layout of the area is lovely, Kingston plantation is actually six or seven resorts that are surrounded by condos -- and if you aren't staying in one of the main towers it can get complicated. Just make sure that when you check in that you have them explain the map to you and give you directions to your destination to lessen confusion. Mehr

I was skeptical about staying at this hotel after reading some of the reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised after we arrived. We stayed on the property in a two bedroom villa and it slept 6 people comfortably. It was very clean and the staff was awesome.

There were six of us, all over 35 and we kept getting a knock on the door telling us to be quiet. I admit, we were having a little fun because we were playing games, but I honestly do not believe we were really that loud. I think the walls are just thin. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay.

I cannot speak for the main hotel, but the condo that we stayed in that is directly behind the hotel was filled with Cockroaches. I called the front desk, and I was told that someone would come out to spray. I'm not saying that they didn't, but I never saw them .

The condo is spacious, and well laid-out. The unit is showing it's age, with rust on appliances, dings in the wall and ceiling. Lamps don't work, the coffee table was disassembled and leaning against the wall; it feels like the maintenance department has simply given up any pretense of caring. The worst thing was discovering sand in my sheets, meaning […] that the sheets were not changed before I checked in. I moved to the other bed in my room, and found no sand, but in the morning I stripped both beds, hoping that the housekeeping staff would not simply remake them AGAIN with used sheets! Mehr

Nice large balcony, spacious, close to shopping centers, restaurants, and activities for the family. I did not like having to pay for daily Internet usage. This was the only huge downside (being required to pay to use the Internet during our stay). We were down for spring break, and the weather turned cool. Then the hot tubs started being closed - intermittently, and no one seemed to know when they would open. If one was open, it got overcrowded (which may have resulted in in shutting down). The desk staff was very friendly, just not very helpful. The overall experience was satisfying. The reservation said "Kingston Plantation condos", but we were given a room at South Hampton. but it turned out a good stay right at the beach with lots of kids amenities and activities, also access to other kingston plantation resorts. Restaurants are good and clean too.
