Ramada Birmingham Sutton Coldfield - Sutton Coldfield

This hotel looks lovely from the outside with ample car parking but once you are in, it is like a rabbit warren. The room I was put in was dated, dark and very cold and smelt like damp wall paper. When I complained I was told the heating had been turned off but they would put it back on. I will not be staying again.

This hotel is in desperate need of renovation. As soon as I walked in to the reception area there was an overwhelming smell of damp which unfortunately was also present in much of the hotel. The hotel was by no means full, however I was placed in a third floor room, which required a lift to the first floor, and then a walk along several corridors and […] up 2 floors - the lift I was directed to by staff did not go to the third floor. On arrival on the third floor, the smell of damp was very pronouced and could be smelt inside the room itself, although the room was of an acceptable standard - the bathroom could however do with some upgrading. The leisure facillities were adequate, however during my walk to these facilities, I found another wing of the hotel which appeared more modern, and which certainly did not smell of damp. I wondered why on a quiet Monday evening, the hotel would decide to put guests in an area not fully accessible by lift, requiring upgrading and in which there was an exceptionally offputting damp smell. Would not stay in this hotel again and this experience would certainly put me off the Ramada group. Mehr

Great value, lovely location, comfortable lounge bar and absolutley wonderful value & exceptional food in the main restaurant. We will go back next time we are in town.

Internet not working and shower with no pressure.. Stay away.

Room was fantastic, very clean and comfortable, would definitely recommend. We stayed on New Years Eve and we had the added bonus of late check out the next day which was a nice extra to our stay. Would definitely book again.

Swimming pool, steam room and sauna were a big bonus which we were not expecting to be so nice. It was a very relaxing start to our stay. The room was great with only one inconvenience - the ventilation from the kitchen smelt and was very noisy. This was irritating but as it was new years eve after a few bottles of wine the noise is bearable! Although the hotel decor and style is pretty dated I cannot fault the cleanliness of the room and general areas. What merits a mention most however is the friendliness and willingness of staff to ensure guests enjoyed their stay - nothing seemed too much trouble! Can honestly say I will recommend this Hotel as even though it is part of chain it had […] a real 'family run feel'. Mehr

This Hotel was pretty unknown to me, I normally stay near the NEC......It was surprising to see the Hotel had full Leisure facilities, free internet was also included in my stay and the room was very good for the tariff. I dined in the bar section and i thought the food i had was bland and very pricey for what it was. Overall though, I would stay […] again but look to eat out elsewhere. Mehr

I have read lots of reviews on this hotel and while I can see the point of some negative comments I disagree quite strongly. Corridors - loads of them, yes. Difficult to get to rooms, no. Use common sense and read the boards for clear instructions where bedrooms are. Cleanliness - as a sole traveller I have stayed in lots worse and paid lots more […] money for privelige. Staff - Polite as you would expect Decor - yes it is bit tired in corridors but rooms are satisfactory. Location - ideal for me with various eateries within 5 miles, vibrant area of Sutton well within taxi ride This is my second stay and the only real negative commen i have is the beds and pillows are not the most comfortable. All in all for the discerning business traveller this hotel ticks the boxes as long as you offset positive and negative. Mehr

The most omplicated hotel I have ever been in. It took 10 minutes to find the room with no lift the floor. Food was ok.

I would recommend only on price alone.I had to have the shower fixed before use as it would not stay up also there was a dead bug just inside the door which was still there when we checked out.also when the bed was remade the sheet was never straightened out all they did was pull the doona up.overall the place looked very tired .overall if you just […] want a bed to lie in that's ok Mehr

Nice staff, nice breakfast, nice area, nice atmosphere. Shame that they tried to charge me again for the room in the morning, when checking out !!!

Had booked this hotel for an overnight stay after a wedding a few miles away. With such a low/good price we did not expect it to be as nice as it was and wished we'd been there for the whole time to enjoy it! Reception service was fantastic and upon joining their privilidge club (there and then) we were offered an upgrade to a lovely exec room. Also […] opted for breakfast the next day, which was very good and if booked offered a saving on their restaurant price. We will definitely be looking out for more Ramada Jarvis hotels like this in the future! Mehr

The hotel is in a pleasant and quiet location with plenty of parking. Reception staff were helpful. The room showed signs of wear and tear but was comfortable. The best aspect of the hotel was the pool and fitness centre which were very good.
