good location, worked out well for what we wanted

Mostly a good experience. Staff is good and the bed fine.Probably a better location in winter than its cut rate competitors in the area. Not so good: Internet support was poor, slow and awkward to access the first time. Television needs satellite feed. Restaurant doesn't understand how to cook eggs.

Nice, family-friendly hotel walking distance to Legoland, but disappointed w/ no movie channels on TV, opting instead for DVD players in each room (we arrived w/o DVDs). No restaurant connected, but brew pub (w/ room svc) in parking lot which also has large breakfast buffet. Kids enjoyed pool area. Friendly staff.

The room was the best part. The lobby and surroundings are just OK. It is not a GRAND Hotel by any stretch. Not much in amenities. Legoland in walking distance. TOO much of a sales pitch for the vacation agreements. Next door restaurant was good with good service. Will not go back.

i stayed there in a 2 bdrm room with my son (8), niece (12) and nephew (6) and we had a blast! The people there are very nice and professional.

The vibe at this hotel is that they're hustling to sell time shares/condos - not catering to their paying guests. Felt like a second class citizen. Couldn't get through to room/food service the whole time we were there - kept getting routed back to an answering machine - Rooms are fine/nice, staff was friendly but scarce (no valet to help park, no bell […] hops) I got the impression the corporation that owns the hotel isn't quite on top of their game. It couldn't be more convenient to Legoland so that's the big plus, and the next door Karl Strauss brewery/restaurant is great. Mehr

Great hotel for families. Rooms are roomy. Lots of eateries close by, Staff efficient and service prompt. Would definitely stay again.

First class service..warm welcome and CLEAN hotel! Rooms were clean and functional! Pool was amazing!

Bathroom pipes made moaning sound when showering. Also, this is the lowest flo shower head I have ever seen. The bathroom needs a makeover. Karl Straus was the only restaurant in the hotel--great beer, by the way--but the hotel has a misleading sign stating the breakfast buffet was included.

We spent 3 nights at the Grand Pacific Palisades Resort. Our goal was to be close to Legoland so we could maximize our time there with the kids. This is probably the closest hotel to the park and they provide shuttle service if you want it. We stayed in a 1 bedroom condo which was spacious and clean. The kitchen was well stocked, which allowed us to […] cook a few meals in. The hotel provides daily activities for kids and has a great kids' pool as well as a very nice adult pool. There's a game room with some old video games and and an activity room with air hockey, foosball and ping pong tables for older kids. There's a small playground onsite for young kids. The resort also provides grills and fire pits. The onsite restaurant is a micro brewery. The food is pretty good, though I can't see eating there more than once or twice with kids. The resort also has a limited DVD library that guests can borrow from. Overall we were very happy with our stay and would return if we decide to visit Legoland again. Mehr

The hotel location is great if you are going to Legoland because it is so close by, and it has a great pool area for kids. But we were really disappointed with the service. Our room was rarely cleaned until 4 or 5 in the evening - just as we were getting home - and when they did clean they did not vacuum or wipe down the table and counters. When we […] got there the patio chairs were so dirty they turned my fingers black, and even after a "cleaning" they were still yucky. The beds were also shockingly uncomfortable. I travel a lot for work and pleasure and was surprised at how they couldn't get basics right. Although the location is great, we wouldn't go back because our room was so uncomfortable. The other thing that turned me off was how they tried immediately to sell us on a condo - literally as I was checking in, they directed me to some woman who was supposed to give me a "welcome packet" but was really just trying to convince me to attend some sales pitch. Was a nice stay at hotel and great trip to Legoland. The hotel is very clean and people are great that work there.

Very nice rooms, location and amenities

The place was nice, if you are planning on staying close to the beach but not right on it. There is a small airport right next to the hotel and there is a good amount of overhead noise. The beds were hard and the toilet had some kind of a "leak" or crack in that it smelled like a latrine the entire week we were there. The walls were also paper thin, […] you could hear everything going on above you and nexrt door, we had kids jumping off the beds above us and you could literally hear them climbing the bed and then jumping off. Also, beware that the other side of the hotel is a timeshare and when you stay there as a hotel guest they keep hownding you to go downstairs and meet with a guest services representative to hook you up with discounts to local restaurants or tickets to attractions which is secret code for, buy a condo and waste a day of your vacation in order to get 20 bucks off per ticket to Disneyland or Sea World. The plus sides, location. It was right next to the outlets if you like shopping. It was walking distance from Legoland. The rooms themselves were attractive and nicely decorated. This resort is on top of a hill overlooking the Pacific ocean. Just outside our window were flower fields and I bet the view would be spectacular in the spring and Summer. The rooms are comfortable with nice colors and furnishings, and the pool and fire rings add just the right ambiance. There's even a Karl Strauss restaurant next door!

We'll return!

Stayed at this hotel many times and still impressed with the staff and surroundings. Great for kids and adults. Can't wait to spend a weekend with my husband and well as coming back with my child.

The pillows were way to hard!!!

My son and I enjoyed our stay very much. The rooms were extremely clean and quiet. Room #311. We walked to Legoland. Less than 10 minute walk. McDonald's, Carls Jr, tacobell, chevron and Costco very close by. Will definitely stay again.

Stayed one night as a break for overnight bike ride. Jacuzzi and sauna was great for reviving and energizing for the next day.

Amazing property. Great family pool. Don't miss the activities game room, ice cream at 5:30 and the hot tub. Getting our room cleaned was a problem slow though, and forgot to clean our room so we had to ask.

Nice and very spacious resort hotel. The one hotel that really lived up to its promise that it can fit my party of 2 adults and 3 children age 6, 11, & 12. Enjoyed the beds, 1 King, 1 Queen and 1 Double.

The hotel was a great location from Legoland and the service was great but we did not get a good night sleep. The pillows were like gigantic bricks. They are big and puffy looking but are definately not!

We had a very enjoyable stay. My son loved it because there was so much for him to do and he also loved going to Legoland!!

the best thing about this hotel is that it is close to lego land...and the kids liked it. hotel staff was rude on the phone upon booking and did not respond to our needs when we requested extra blankets & reported that the phone in our room was not working. desk staff was rude when we had to change rooms and again when we needed information and tickets […] to lego land... very unprofessional all around! we found dirty socks on the floor behind our door that belonged to a previous guest. the pool chairs were filthy & were never changed during our 4 night stay. there were no toiletries in the bathroom which i typically expect from a "resort/hotel". the "special entrance" to lego land that is advertised is actually a public gate marked by an orange cone, which is a five minute walk from the hotel. we would not stay here again nor would we recommend this hotel to anyone. we got a great rate for a reason, you get what you pay for here! My family and I love this hotel. It has great activities for families and space for the kids to run around the pool or play games. It is close to dining for any price range. Also, you can't be a walk across the street to get to legoland. We love this hotel and will keep coming back.

Very nice stay. Adjoining restaurant very good. Pool areas excellant. Views very good. Rooms a little nicer than the Courtyard at Marriott. Hope they have HD TV soon, they have the TV's but not the service.

If you are looking for a convenient location and don't mind a hotel that has huge turnover then it's an ok choice.

Walking distance to Lego Land, a kids pool with water recreation area, a decent restaurant on site, and still had adult only areas. This was such a wonderful place to stay...I thought that the price paid for what we got was excellent and since it was all families with kids, we could "be ourselves" without feeling like we were bothering anyone.

The hotel was ok. Our bathroom was really dirty when we arrived. I liked the play area for the kids. Our experience with the hotel restaurant was rediculous! The wait time was SO slow, the waitress looked at us blankly each time we asked a question. (My son has a food allergy) then after waiting FOREVER every single item came out wrong. I guess not […] really the hotel's fault but made the experience less enjoyable. Mehr

A great location for people going to Carlsbad's main attraction! Just across the street, so you can walk to and fro (or take the hotel shuttle) and save the $$ for parking. Not a lot of restaurants in walking distance, though; so be prepared to drive for dinner. It's just a few blocks from I-5, so it's easy to get to the other San Diego attractions. The […] room was "standard," not what I would have expected for a place that bills itself as a resort, but I'm sure they have larger and better rooms than we got. Even so, it was great -- we were only there to sleep anyway! All public areas were clean; housekeeping did a good job with our room (we were there for 4 nights, so I'd have noticed); the grounds were very nicely maintained. The desk staff were outstanding. If you are looking for a hotel with perfect views of the ocean this is it. If you plan on spending most of your time outdoors you will be satisfied. You can walk around the hotel on a pathway that smells of jasmine, a soft ocean breeze and swaying palm trees. You can sit in the hot tub with a glass of wine and watch the sun set. Only get a room with […] a view if that is important to you. The hotel has reasonable room prices for rooms that don't face the ocean. The villas are really nice as well that are attached to the hotel. Great pool, hot tub. Great hotel for price.. Mehr

Was here on business, but Hotels.com gave me a crazy good deal so I stayed here. For the money I paid I mean it was off the charts good. karl Strauss Brewery is walking dist across a parking lot, and they provide growlers should you choose to drink beer in a hot tub... which I did to great satisfaction.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The hotel grounds are beautiful and there is lots to do onsite - game room, kid and adult pools, walking path with a beach view. The hotel staff were very friendly. If we go to Carlsbad again we will stay here.

this hotel is great if you want to go to the beach and to legoland...other then that you have to driev quite a while to get to anything else and california traffic is not that much fun....but great hotel other then that!

We were there to take our three kids to Legoland. The sink in the bathroom was dirty upon arrival and the A/C didn't seem to be working properly. We headed out to Legoland after requesting a crib be sent up to our room (they had already assured me it would be in there when we arrived). We got back to the hotel and there still wasn't a crib. It was 7pm […] now and our kids had been up at 4am to get the flight from Vancouver. I called down to front desk again and they said someone would be up with one. About an hour later and 2 more phone calls someone finally delivered a crib that looked and felt like it had been stored in the kitchen. It felt all greasy and there was no way I was going to let my child sleep in it. It had an old Winnie the Pooh crib set that was well worn. I called down and asked for a pack and play as I had brought my own sheets. They said they would get back to me and also send someone to look at the AC. By this time my older kids were in bed and pointed out the dried out pair of contact lenses that were on the headboard. Gross. They were willing to move us to a different room when I called the front desk again to let them know how filthy dirty the room was. However, they didn't have a big enough room to sleep all of us, and they did not have any other cribs. The maintenance guy had come to fix the AC, but turns out he didn't. By this point I was on the phone to the Sheraton trying to get a room there as we had stayed there in the past. We ended up getting a refund for our two nights stay that we had prepaid on hotels.com and moved to the Sheraton Carlsbad at 10pm where we were treated very well and they were so helpful in getting us a room that would sleep all of us for a discounted price, and quickly as the kids were so tired and the baby was crying the whole time. I would stay away from this hotel and book the Sheraton Carlsbad that is attached the Legoland, it is a much nicer hotel, and not much more in price. Mehr

The housekeeping was horrible and the staff was unaccommodating - talk to managers on duty if you want anything done for you. For the money, I have high expectations of a resort like hotel and this is not the one! The pools were segregated from adults and families - family pool was dirty, over crowded and deck chairs were never cleaned/towels were everywhere. […] Additionally, everything is an upgrade and needed $. To top it off, as a hotel guest, the last thing I wanted to have is to be solicited to buy one of their properties/time shares. What a horrible experience - for the $, they need new management to do an overhalul. Mehr
