"4 Tage in NO"Bewertet von Katrin K. aus "Stuttgart, Germany" am 31. Mrz. 2012

"not happy"
was not happy at all! they overbooked our room, so we have to wait 2 hours to get our room, the air in our room didn't work. not a very happy stay I have to say
"For the Price, Cotton's nice"
booked this a night before jazz fest ... low expectations ... got there and was pleasantly surprised. nothing fancy, but definitely a comfortable stay.
Excellent service from staff. Large room, large, clean bed. Modern clean bathroom. Close to Canal street..
"Close to must see sights"
It was excellent. We had a very good time in New Orleans. The hotel is in a perfect location near the French Quarter, River Walk, and Bourbon Steet. The Hotel has a lot of history--with modern conveniences. We were able to try new restaurnts while there.
Rooms didnt have any windows, only one elevator, tolient flushed slow and no kitchen for room service.
It's not the La Pavillion, but if everything else in town is booked up, it's better than being on the street. The elevator is slower than molasses in January, so be prepared to take the stairs.
"Hotel in rough shape"
For the price, not a good value. Location is perfect, and the staff were cordial, but this place needs to be gutted and re-furbished. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms clean at least, with good water pressure in the shower. Very run down, only one elevator was functioning, and there was no internet access in the room itself.
Our stay was good. We didn't sleep good. The ac didn't cool the room off. It stayed 74 all nite.
"good"
the stay was good, I held the room on my American express and wanted to change the card, I was told I could and i could not. In the future just tell the truth. thanks
"Possibly in transition"
Front desk helpfulness was highly variable. Some very friendly and helpful. Others not friendly. Don't stay on second floor on section of hotel near bar (233, 234)...loud music from the bar Thurs-Sat. We had to be moved. 2nd room nicer, but floors not clean. Killed cockroach after entering room one night. Location is convenient to Bourbon street (little […] more than a block) and French quarter. Mehr
"great location."
after reading all the reviews posted i was afraid i made a bad choice, but was suprised on arrival. desk clerk very friendly. didnt use valet but parked at parking garage right around the corner. room was clean on arrival. toilet was broken but fixed within the hour.a/c worked fine for all 4 days. room was cleaned each day without incident. the staff […] was always friendly to us even keeping some takeout in the fridge for us while we were out. elevator was kinda slow but never a big deal.the bar attached to the hotel never seemed to close if you like to have a late night drink like we did.never tried the breakfast instead we found a great restaurant tucked into the back of a bar called hobnobers on bourbon just after you cross canal. ate there every morning. great food. now for the not so good. other reviews were correct about the wi-fi service only working in the lobby.this hotel also seemed to be the college party hotel of choice on the weekend if that bothers you. although we never had any noise problems. no fridge or microwave was availble to rent in lower rooms as stated in hotel description. other than that had a great time in nola Mehr
"1.5 blocks from everything we needed"
did not have breakfest, internet not in room. people very helpful
"Great hotel"
I would stay there again and again...hotel is just down from bourbon street, nice walking distance. Hotel was clean, modern and very helpful staff!
"Convenient but nothing special"
The room was ok although a queen sized bed seemed like a stretch. We were right next to the elevator so it was a bit noisy. Location was right next to Bourbon St if partying is your thing. The French Quarter is little bit of a walk but not really an issue. I've stayed in nicer hotels in New Orleans but this was ok in a pinch. Oh, use the $10 a day parking […] garage across the street and not the $30 a day valet.. Mehr
"Not Too Bad"
Not the best hotel in the area. The location is convenient and safe. Hotel is getting somewhat run down. Price is right making it a decent value.
"NOT GOOD"
The service at this hotel was awesome! However the cleaniness of the room was horrible. when I first entered into the door, there was paper and beer tops on the floor in plain site. Later that night i found that the bed skirting and drapes had horrible stains. It was repulsive!
"Comfortable and well located"
Good if you want to be close to downtown or the Quarter. Staff were ok but not overly warm. Hotel is quiet. The rooms are small but with the high ceilings they feel much larger than they are. Reasonable price for the accommodations
The location was perfect for the final four but the lack luster conditions of the hotel itself were far from what was desired and even after we moved rooms we still had issues with our new room we didn't have our room cleaned once and had an issue getting towels and thr water in the shower was not hot
"cooten exhange New orleans"
TIred but clean hotel, was a relative bargain to others in the quarter for the final four weekend. no complaints-nice people.
"Don't stay here"
Their AC went out so the rooms were about 80 degrees and damp from the humidty. Every time we asked when it would be fixed, they were incredibly rude to us and unaccommodating. We asked them to provide fans for us which they denied. They didn't discount the room so we had to pay full price. The service at the front desk was rudest I've seen. Requests […] for towels and key cards were met with rolled eyes and snide comments. Stay anywhere else, this hotel will be the worst part of your trip if you stay here. Also stay at a hotel that has a parking if you have a car. They will not help you find a spot, and you'll end up parking in the street. Mehr
"Don't wait until the last minute - go elsewhere"
The Cotton Exchange is okay in a pinch, if you've waited until the last minute and nothing else is available. You're better off spending a bit more money and staying nearby at the Renaissance or the La Quinta. The room was large but the carpet, curtains, upholstery and even the phone were all filthy and covered in stains. The bathroom was fine except […] for a lukewarm shower. The bed was comfortable but the dirty state of the room made us paranoid about sleeping in it. The table was useless and wobbly. There were very noisy guests partying in the hallway, but that's just something you often deal with in New Orleans. The streetcar line runs directly in front of the hotel, so we heard it pass by every 15 minutes until late at night. The staff were courteous, although a few times I came down to the lobby and there was no one behind the counter. We parked at a nearby public lot, so I can't comment on the valet parking. Mehr
"Not the best experience"
This definably was not the best hotel i have stayed at. The service was mediocre at best. the room was not the cleanest, the room service didn't seem to do a thorough job. Had problems with AC and getting hot water.

"Bad experience @ Cotton Exchange in New Orleans"
Unfortunately 1(one) is the lowest rating. Hotel is a minus 1. Total lack of maintenance and service. Inoperable a/c, inoperable ice machines, threadbare dirty carpet, failure to clean and restock rooms. List goes on and on. Convenient location is the only plus we found. Bad experience steer clear
"bad experience"
the hotel had no air conditioning no towels in the room very slow service
Don't go in expecting a 5 star resort, but it is nothing like all the bad reviews. Staff was all very nice to us, as we were very nice to them. Our room was cleaned, beds made, and towels brought each day. The location couldn't be better - especially for the price!!!!!! I would stay here agian - we were very comfortable.
"Great Flophouse!"
Do you enjoy arriving to a questionable mattress? A room with nasty, soiled carpet? How about stained bath towels, or an air conditioning unit that only offer the 'fan' option? Then you've found the right place! The Cotton Exchange Hotel offers all this, and more! Dimly lit hallways, an elevator that squeals, thirty bucks a night to park at the Park […] All down the street. This hotel is a true American flophouse. If you're really drunk, it won't look any better, but may be tolerable for a night - or until you sober up and realize where you are. If you're unfortunate enough to find yourself booked here, I recommend washing your clothes as soon as you return home - the heat will kill any bed bugs you may have encountered during your stay. And leave your bags outside, wrapped in plastic for a couple of days. I still itch.. Mehr
"Cotton Exchange- great location"
Nice hotel for the price n location.
"Convenient location, but pricey"
The room was clean and comfortable overall. Our room seemed to be placed between floors, so we only had two 2' windows coming up from the ground. Parking was available at the Hilton's gigantic lot next door for $15 per night. Our room lacked a remote control for the TV and one was never brought up by the front desk, as requested. The location is great […] if you are interested in the Quarter, but besides that convenience factor the price felt too high for the quality received. Mehr
"Great location, Nice Staff"
My husband, friends and I stayed at the Cotton Exchange this past weekend as we had traveled to the city so that I could participate in the Rock N' Roll Marathon. True, the hotel is a bit worn, there is some wear n' tear in the furniture/carpet/paint, the bathroom hasn't been updated -- it isn't 5 Star, BUT, the beds were comfy, the staff was really […] nice and the location couldn't be beat! The entire city was sold-out as there were a lot of events going on this weekend, so we didn't have very many options as far as where to stay (within a reasonable price point). I had honestly dreaded reaching the hotel based on the reviews and was afraid it was going to be a nightmare, but I was VERY pleasantly surprised. We had a great view, the bed was soooo soft (which was an absolute godsend after all of that running!) and we were within walking distance to EVERYTHING. My only complaint isn't even something that pertained to me -- when my friends showered, they said that the water in both of their rooms wouldn't get hot. I think it is likely because since the hotel is so old, the pipes are probably being shared and since the hotel was sold out, it is likely everyone was trying to shower at the same time. When I took my shower after the marathon, the water was steaming hot! So, I have no complaints. Long story short, the hotel doesn't necessarily LOOK that great, but I wouldn't have any issue staying there again. If you are looking for "looks", then I would suggest the Hampton across the street, the Hilton around the corner, or the Marriotts or Sheraton on Canal. I'm normally a Marriott person, but for the cost and location, this spot wasn't bad at all. Mehr
"Great Location and Value for the Money"
You can disregard what most of the other reviews say. For most of these individuals, their complaints seem to suggest five-star expectations for a two-star hotel. My girlfriend and I have been to New Orleans on four separate trips. We have stayed at Monteleone (twice), Loews (twice), Columns (twice), and now Cotton Exchange (we often stay at more than […] one hotel on each trip). Of course, Cotton Exchange was not as nice as any of the other hotels, it was a great value for the money. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable (much more so than the beds at Columns), and the location is extremely convenient, only two blocks off of Bourbon and Canal with easy access to the St. Charles street car. The staff could have been a little more friendly, but it was Mardi Gras and I'm sure that they were busier than normal. For the money, I was definitely satisfied. If you want the best of the best, by all means, stay at one of the more expensive hotels. However, if you are looking for a base of operations between trips to Bourbon and the Garden District and do not want to spend an arm and a leg, plus a very comfortable mattress, Cotton Exchange will do nicely. "Cotton Exchange New Orleans"
Overall stay was good. We did end up with 6 BUS loads of Fraternity kids there. Wish we had known before we got there!! The elevator was SUPER slow we took the stairs alot. Only 1 was working due to remodel. The staff was very nice.
cheap, no amenities (gym, pool, breakfast) but if you are just looking for a place to sleep, it's decent enough.
"dont stay here"
Horrible service and overall crappy hotel, don't stay here. The only positive is the location.
"Completely Unacceptable"
Reviews of dirty towels and broken toilets are true. Hotel staff is completely uninterested in interacting with customers. This hotel is made for booze-soaked broke college students. No redeeming qualities other than proximity to Canal/Bourbon.
False, Fire alarm went off at 3:30 am and was very loud and disturbing!!
"Cotton Exchange - nice location"
No place to park. You have to park at a different hotel and their parking was just horrible. The lock on the door was broken like someone had tried to break into the room and maintenance has not fixed the lock. Houskeeping cleaned the room but did not throw out the trash.
"Hard but enjoyable"
The hot water was not hot, there was no refrigerator, no ice machines worked, there was no remote for the television, the room felt like a studio apartment, but the view was nice. oh and the parking garage was horrible.

Not bad, great location.
"Stay here"
Some of the other reviews had me worried about staying, but once I got there it wasn't so bad. My room was perfect for my boyfriend and I but no more than us. The location was perfect we stayed for 3 days and once we got there we didn't drive again until it was time to go. We are def. staying here again for Mardi Gra

"Needs upgrades"
Only one elevator in poor working order. basically an OK hotel to be close to the French Quarter and still be able to sleep.
"great location-can be loud"
Great location. Some rooms are loud because of the bar underneath. The staff are unhelpful.
"Cotton Exchange hotel was close to everything!"
The staff was simply fantastic. It's about a block from Bourbon Street. Many restaurants are in the area, however my first night the heat didn't work and the second night it was far too hot (the thermostat worked when it wanted to) but overall, I would definitely stay there again.
"Cotton Exchange Hotel in New Orleans, LA"
Great hotel, price and location - 2 blks from the heart of French Quarters. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The only 2 issues were that there was 1 elevator that took forever and when trying to contact a 'live' person on the phone at the hotel - there was none. You continually got answering machines or you would loop through the call options. […] And, nobody ever returned my call when I did leave a message. Mehr
"Cotton exchange"
Great location and room.. Only complaints was that the water never got hot.. Barely Luke warm
"Good but not great"
Needed just one night stay so I got this place. Certainly did the job. Room was clean and location was very convenient. If you're looking for an extended stay and luxurious accommodations, this is not the place for you. If you are just looking for a inexpensive place to stay for a day or two while you enjoy NOLA, this will do the trick. Rooms are clean, […] beds are nice, service friendly enough. Mehr
