Gutes Hotel, in unmittelbarer Nähe zur Wallstreet , am südlichsten Ende des Broadway. Sehr nette Bedienung. Enges aber sauberes Zimmer mit zwei Kingsize-Betten.

Großes Zimmer, gute Betten. Bei Zimmern nach hinten raus kann man bei offenem Fenster schlafen. Internet fürs Zimmer zu teuer. Im Bad leichter Renovierungsstau. Frühstück im Hotelrestaurant empfehlenswert, sehr nette Bedienung. Infostand für Sightseeing im Hotel sehr gut. Karten tlw. kostenfrei. Mexik. Pub +Chinarestaurant ca. 200 m entfernt. U-Bahn ca. 400m weg.

Wir waren sehr zufrieden mit dem Hotel. Das Zimmer war sauber, zweckmäßig und der Service freundlich und aufmerksam. In direkter Nähe befinden sich viele Sehenswürdigkeiten (Stock Exchange, 9/11 Memorial, Trinity Church) und man erreicht 3 verschiedene Subway-Stationen innerhalb weniger Gehminuten. Außerdem die Fähre nach LongIsland bzw. den Anleger für die Boote zur Freiheitsstatue und Elis Island. Da an der Wallstreet Abends/ Nachts nicht ganz so viel los ist, kann man - für NYC-Verhältnisse - relativ ruhig schlafen, v.a. im Vergleich mit der Gegend rund um den TimesSquare usw. Ein kleines, aber feines, familiengeführtes (so schien es) Hotel, dass wir auf alle Fälle weiterempfehlen würden!

Es gibt allerdings auch Stimmen, die bemängeln, dass die Upper West Side zu einer Art Upper East Side verkommen wäre. Ein zutreffendes Beispiel hierfür wäre das Time Warner Center am Columbus Circle, eine der teuersten Liegenschaften von New York. An der Upper West Side befinden sich das Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, das American Museum of Natural History sowie die Columbia University. Harlem, das legendäre afroamerikanische Viertel, liegt im Norden und umgibt die Spitze von Manhattan fast vollständig.

Die Zimmer sind sehr schmutzig, die Betten und die Lacken sind mit verschieden farbigen Flecken übersät, Kakerlaken in der Dusche, Obdachlose übernachten in den Fluren. Das einzig positive ist die gute Lage. Wir sind selbst Backpacker, und auch schlechte Hostels gewöhnt, aber dieses Ding hat den Namen Hotel nicht verdient und gehört geschlossen.
Für kurzaufenthalt ist es in Ordnung. Ist halt ein hostel und kein Hotel. 10 min bis zur u-bahn, eine sichere Gegend und nah an City.
"Abenteuer Urlaub New York"
Also man sollte nicht länger als eine Nacht bleiben müssen. Ich glaube auch, es gibt vielleicht unterschiedliche Kategorien. In meinem Stockwerk - das fünfte - roch es streng nach Katzenurin, mir begegeneten mehrere Kakerlaken und die Badezimmer waren jahrzehntelang abgelebt. Ich glaube es wird zwar im Rahmen der Möglichkeiten auf Sauberkeit geachtet, […] trotzdem hatte ich zum ersten Mal meinen Hüttenschlafsack im Einsatz (ich hatte ihn sowohl in Asien als auch Afrka davor ungebraucht dabei). Das Personal ist ziemlich nett. Außerdem bekommmt man auch mal live das Kakerlaken-Problem New Yorks mit - irgendwie also ziemlich authentisch. Neben normalen Hotelgästen wohnen dort auch wilde Dauermieter. Ich würde nicht unbedingt nochmal dort hin wollen. Mehr

Viele haben es geschrieben: Da hängen Kable aus den Wänden, Obstabfälle liegen in den Ecken, die Toiletten sind ekel- und grauenhaft, die Duschen verklebt, haarig und wiederlich. Die Bäder werden nicht gereinigt. Im Zimmer hatte die Bettdecke ein Brandloch. Es gibt einen Kühlschrank und viel Dreck. Im Hotel wohne wohl dauerhaft einige alte Menschen, […] die über deutliche Defizite bei Sauberkeit und Hygiene verfügen. Die Lage ist wundervoll: Nähe Central Park / Upper West. Man darf sich aber vom Preis nicht blenden lassen. Oder man sollte über eine gehörige Ekeltoleranz verfügen und unbedingt ein starkes Desinfektionsmittel mitnehmen. Dieses Hotel macht einfach nur die Lage und der Preis interessant. Alt, nicht sauber, mini Zimmer. Ich habe sogar eine Kakerlage auf dem Wc gesehen. Mehr muss man ja nicht sagen.

Während die Lage noch einigermaßen überzeugt und die Zimmer mit Kühlschrank, Klimaanlage und Fernseher gut ausgestattet sind befiel uns in dem verwinkelten Hotel spätestens im Bad auf dem Stock ein gewisses Ekelgefühl. "Liegt in "walking distance" zum Lincoln center"
Riverside Studio ist ua auch ein Midtown Welfare Hotel, was bei der Ankunft, im Lift und an der Rezeption klar sichtbar ist. Meine bestätigte Reservation (Im Hause A) nennt im Zimmer ein Telephon, das nicht existierte. Der Weckservice am Morgen meiner Abfahrt hat nicht funktioniert und ich habe deshalb meinen Flug verpasst. Ich kehrte für eine weitere […] Nacht ins Hotel zurück, diesmal in einem Zimmer mit Telephon (aber kein fliessendes Wasser). Ich bewerte trotzdem mit "JA" wenn dem Kunden die Mängel bei der Reservation klar gemacht werden. Ich habe das Hotel eine Nacht nach dem Studio2 Home Balto bezogen das perfekt war. The corridors are smelly; the facilities are dirty and aren't cleaned every day; the rooms are shabby and need renovation; TV is not working neither the air conditioning and you can't open the window; the only good thing is the convenient location close to Central park

Wir hatten ein Zimmer im Erdgeschoss, in einem Bereich des Hotels, der unlängst renoviert worden zu sein schien. Es war sauber, beide Zimmer und das geteilte Badezimmer am anderen Ende des Gangs. Ich war angetan in Anbetracht meiner geringen Erwartungen. Ja, ich würde es wieder tun.

Zunächst die gute Nachricht: es war erschwinglich, in einer Stadt, die es nicht ist. Das Reinigungspersonal leistet gute Arbeit mit seinem Service. Alles in dem Zimmer funktionierte. Der Aufzug war schön. Die schlechte Nachricht: Das Badezimmer war nicht gut in Schuss, funktionierte aber. Ein bisschen Kunst würde nicht schaden. Sah keine. Neuer Teppichboden […] wäre angebracht. Hotel Riverside Studios Zimmer waren ausreichend, um zu schlafen, teilten sich aber ein Badezimmer, waren seit Monaten nicht gereinigt worden, Fliesen fehlten auf dem Boden, Schimmel wuchs auf dem Boden der Dusche, kein heißes Wasser. Nicht für menschliche Benutzung geeignet.

Schmuddelige, enge, verwinkelte Korridore. Schlechter Geruch. Sauber und ordentlich, kleines Zimmer mit eigener Klimaanlage - das war der einzige Komfort. Ich war entsetzt, als ich feststellte, daß ich das Badezimmer mit anderen Leuten in angrenzenden Zimmern teilen muß. Gute Lage, aber für die Zimmerqualität und Sauberkeit überteuert. Das Gemeinschaftsbad nervt. Ich hatte einiges mehr erwartet für diesen Preis. GEHEN SIE LIEBER IN EINE JUGENDHERBERGE.
"SHUT DOWN BY NYC LICENSING DEPT!"
I booked the room 3 mos. in advance for New Year's Eve and received confirmation after monies were withdrawn from my account. In September I received notice from Hotels.com that this hotel was unable to accept my reservation, and to please contact them immediately. Curious, I called the Riverside whereupon I was told they were closed for business by […] the NYC Licensing Board. Luckily, Hotels.com handled this matter very courteously and efficiently, finding another (even much better) room for us at the Milburn Hotel for NYE with less than 3 weeks notice! The clerk at the Milburn was aghast when I told him of our original booking and said he had received many guests with nightmarish experiences who had fled from the Riverside. The clerk also said that one must do their own due diligence and call the hotel directly and ask to see the room before booking. If they resist, then that is not the lodging for you. I highly recommend that you spend a few more dollars and stay the nearby Milburn Hotel if you can - the private bathroom and kitchenette alone is worth it! "Don"t stat at Riverside Studios"
Having stayed on the Upper West Side in NYC and knowing the community and it's reputation I thought I would be getting a clean and safe but bare bones room on Riverside Drive at a great deal from Hotels.com. First, my Taxi driver would not go to that dead end..... When I walked in the lobby I saw large full trash cans, paint buckets and nothing else? […] I found an attendent who signed me in and gave me a key. I was given directions to walk thru a very small long hall, go thru a door, another small long hall and through another door and I could find my way up to the third floor? I only saw a maintanance man as I made my way and I was so afraid I did not dare go up two levels to the 3rd floor!!! I really feared for my safety!!! I wound back thru the halls and doors and gave the key back to the desk clerk (who did not seem suprised that I brought the key back). This facility is nothing but an accident waithing to happen. Even considering a shared bathroom and shower, the one bathroom on the second floor did not have operating lights over the sink, only in the shower. The window at the shower in the other shower room was jammed open and made my female friend uncomfortable The window in her room was in a sad state of disrepair..

Although the hotel looks like it has not work done since 1945...which was not a major problem ..what was need was proper vaccuming of the rooms under the beds and the blinds were beyond dusty and a few of the tubs were so old the paint fell off..I was not expecting the 4 seasons but what i was expecting was a place with so much visible dust and cob […] webs .. Starting with the positives: the employees were helpful and kind. The neighborhood was great and quiet. But sleeping in this room was like sleeping in a dirty closet. The carpet looked very nasty and the walls were pretty scuffed up. I was happy with how well they kept the bathrooms clean as they are shared - this made sharing a bathroom less nasty. This […] place really should be categorized as more of a hostel. There is no signage other than what you see on the awning photo. "OK if you don't mind dorm type setting."
I knew what I was getting into--that the bathrooms would be shared and in the hallways. The place was clean but reminded me of an old college dormitory. My biggest concern is that there is access to the hotel from the street from a door that is not locked or monitored. For security reasons-I would not stay there again. Among the highlights of our stay at this hotel are: bed bug crawling over my book while reading in bed at night (and yes, I know how to identify a bed bug, Cimex lectularius, and this was one); rooms have a distinct cellar quality to them; elevator smells like generations of roaches have lived there for a looooong time; clogged shower (i.e., over the […] ankles in the previous user's used water, yikes); clogged toilet; bathroom where someone had used towels (and I do not mean paper towels) as toilet paper and then left them in the trash bin....go figure. It was interesting staying here, the staff was so helpful but the building needs some upgrade. It's great for a few nights. My friends and I had a great time there. For a last minute booking this hotel saved our staying in NYC.

The room was cleaned daily. Shared bathrooms were grungy at best. Heat with the snowstorm was minimal. Location is great. "Worst hotel I have ever stayed in EVER"
I cannot even believe that hotels.com would list this hotel on their site. The mattresses have plastic wrapped around them...the rooms stink and are dirty. The bathrooms are ROACH infested. I took a shower and counted at least 20 roaches crawling on the walls and the floors. I slept in my CLOTHES and wouldnt stop on the floor without shoes. If you're on a tight budget and need something cheap i would recommend this hotel. Definitely not a five star hotel let alone a 2 star hotel but it will work for short trips. Nice neighborhood and easy access to subways food shopping and site seeing.

ts the most disgusting place i have ever stayed ..We booked for 5 nights only stayed the one night . As i walked into the front door my face dropped , that holiday excitement disappeared.The entrance was dirty ,then turned right into reception it was worse .At this point i still had hope. When we walked into the room ,i cried . "Great Location - Funky Hotel"
Since the express train stops at 72nd, this is a great location. The neighborhood is fantastic. However, the hotel is rather grungy. Bed is awful, the sink is gross, and the phone doesn't work. I also never got my room serviced or cleaned. However, the room has a mini fridge.

"Riverside Studios"
Hotel is in poor repair. In bathroom, no rubber mat in tub, no mat when leave shower, no rail to hold on to when getting into or out of shower, telephone did not work, walls in halls were moldy. I had wanted inexpensive, but didn't expect this to be so bad.

I would recomend this hotel for NY Lovers that spend only sleeping time in the hotel. The place is huge and kind of confusing. Some of the floors have an uneven floor, what is kind of scaring, the elavator is really old and stinks, but besides the look and the smell there were no bugs or roaches. It is a shared bathroom, it was pretty clean but I always […] were sandals to shower. The room was really small, what I didn`t mind because it was just me, but the bed was really small and noisy, everytime I moved I would wake up with the noise... I was a different experience because I have ever never had to share a bathroom in a hotel, but for the price and location it was ok, it could be better. I would recomend this hotel for people that spend just enough time in the room, I was gone from 9am to 12am, but if you like to laydown and watch a movie on you hotel room I would not recomend this hotel. "Not as great as I'd like, not as bad as I feared"
No matter the location, I still think this hotel is overpriced, given that you have to use a communal bathroom. Once I knew I had to bring flip-flops, it really wasn't as bad as it could have been. Never had to wait for the shower, and though unbelievably narrow, it was serviceable. There was a second bathroom in the hall (further down) that was slightly […] wider. No counters in the bathroom, so bring a bag or something to put your toiletries in. Shower was actually quite hot! Room and bathroom were freezing--I closed windows in the bathroom to help the cold. Turned the radiator open in the room and nothing happened, but the heat did kick on in the middle of the night. Was surprised to have clean towels, mini soaps, and 2 rolls of toilet paper--we never lacked, as the bathroom had plenty, and so I never needed the fresh rolls they gave us. The table lamp did not work, and so we only had the harsh overhead light....but the room was clean and big enough. Not a bad place from which to go sightseeing, but just don't book this "hotel" for the ambience or accommodations. Book it only if this is the best you can afford, and realize that you get what you pay for. We did not get lost (maybe because I knew from other reviewers to pay close attention to the directions) and the hallways were not dark or unsafe. I saw no bugs (roaches or bedbugs). Hotel Ricerside Studios was a standard hostel-type accomodation and pretty good for the price. Ammenities were simple and the housekeeping could have been better but the location was great.
