"4 Tage in NO"Bewertet von Katrin K. aus "Stuttgart, Germany" am 31. Mrz. 2012

"STAY AWAY!!"
We did not stay there. It was horrible. I have sent two previous messages to you saying the same thing and have gotten no response. I would like someone to go there and see for themselves, but I have pictures instead if you'd like to see just how unbelievable it is.

Needs major upgrade. People are nice though
"NO"
Shadiest, sketchiest hotel ever. Terrible location in New Orleans(bad neighborhood).Complete dump. Don't understand how its still in business. I recommend hotels.com drops them from their site.
"Everyone settle down."
This hotel was JUST FINE. Surprisingly clean. The towels were a joke, but all the linens were clean. No bugs, comfortable temperature, present staff. Didn't see any sketchy patrons, nothing like the "hookers" and "junkies" in other reviews. The neighborhood wasn't scary--in fact it was charming. If you're going down to New Orleans and all you need […] is a place to leave your stuff and crash, this is an excellent choice. Mehr
"Empress Hotel in New Orleans"
No hot water. Beds were horrible. No ice. Charged deposit for key and hairdryer use.
"Do NOT Waste Your Money!"
This was the WORST hotel we have ever stayed at. Paid a lot for the night. At check in we were informed we were not allowed to take the key outside of the hotel we had to leave it at the front desk. When returning to pick up the key, housekeeping was getting our key, to "put towels in our room" However, they give you towels at check in...so why was […] he going into our room? We moved all of our valuables to our vehicle so they wold be safe. Small about 10x8, dirty rooms. Dingy. Staff was not friendly at all, they had the attitude as if they were doing us a favor by letting us stay there. Overall the absolute worst place ever. The hotel was rated at a 2 star...I would rate it as a flop house. Mehr
"KEEP AWAY - WORST OF THE WORST"
This hotel was like a bad dream. I have never been to prison, but it is my guess the conditions are better there than at this hotel. It was the grossest, scariest place I have ever stayed. Keep away for your own good.
"TOTAL CRAPHOLE"
This place is thee biggest dirtbag hotel. i have ever seen or even walked by in my entire 42 year old life. Went to it ONLY because it was cheap online at the time. I have had prison/jail cells with better accomodations. Went there in Jan of 2012 for the Sugar Bowl festivites. Better hope there isn't a fire, no window big enough to crawl out of on 2nd […] floor. The mattress is just a second hand throw out to the curb style. Bare floor tile and a dirty throw rug. Heater is a plug in and hope it doesn't burn down the place. A prison size tv is bolted 6 feet off the ground over the bed and don't hit your head on it cause it won't move. Window is a rusted push out that is sealed in place with caulk and wind blowing in thru cracks. A/C is practically caulked in with some type of styrofoam junk. Room not insulated and you can hear EVERYTHING around you. It is the size of 100 sq ft. closet with a toilet that is sunk into the floor and the shower curtain is literally screwed into the wall to prevent someone from stealing "that dollar store quality" from them. One single light bulb lite up the "closet" and "bathroom" each. I was scared just to sleep in my own clothes for the neighborhood. The door "lock" was nothing more than a keep the door shut latch. Any one could of got in just by pushing hard. I screamed OH MY GOD as i walked in. What the hell were you thinking as i looked at my girlfriend in disbelief. At least they were cleaning windows and sheets were clean. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, and spend a little more for a better place. Unless your a crackhead and plan on serenading the local transvestites for a romantice evening with the cockroaches. Mehr
"Don't ever stay at this hotel!"
Upon arrival they were not ready for us and they had to make sure the work that had been done on the ceiling in the bathroom had been cleaned up before we could be ESCORTED to our room. The doors are locked with an old fashioned key so we had to put a $10.00 deposit down for the key that by the way we had to drop off at the front desk upon leaving and […] ask for back upon arrival every time we left the building. There are no closets to hang your clothing, the tub that had painted was flaking and the toilet looks like it belongs in a public shelter. You can feel the coils throuh the matress. The cleanning lady on the first full day did not come to our room until after 7pm! Upon our leaving they actually made us wait in the lobby while they checked the room and to make sure that all of their linens, towels, and wash cloths were still there. My husband had spilled some coffee and since there was no toilet paper (none had been given to us the day before) used a hand towel to clean it up. Upon coming back downstairs they informed us that we were going to be charged for the stain that was on the wash cloth! I have stayed at inexpensive hotels before and never in my life have I been so disgusted with the room, service and overall appearance. Mehr
"pretty bad"
Has to be worst room I have ever stayed in. However, when booking a room I was informed that it had bad ratings.
"Wrong Turn/ you get what you pay for"
I was not impressed at all and would recommend only if you need a place to lay your head.... ONLY IF YOU ARE DESPERATE...... ONLY!!!!!
"worst experience at a so called hotel ever!"
from the weird smell throughout the entire hallway on into my box of a room, this was quite rediculous. my college dorm was more appealing than this so called hotel room. i would have rather stayed at an hourly motel!
"More hostel than hotel"
So classy they charge extra to have a guest go to your room with you.
"Empress Hotel-NoLa , you get what you pay for"
The Empress Hotel was not impresive but then the whole reason I stayed there was the price, so I wasn't expecting much. It is literally a bed in a room. There was a TV (the remote did not work), A/C, and a bathroom. There were no toiletries provided but I also didn't ask for any. I had two friends share the room with me that were not on the initial […] reservation and there was an additional fee per person and we were given the option of a cot or air-mattress, and given the review of my friend who slept on the cot, I would say take the air-mattress. The staff of the hotel was very friendly and the receptionist working when we tried to check in early was kind enough to hold our bags and even put them in the room when it was ready. There was a room deposit upon check in that I was unable to get back upon leaving because I left prior to my friends who were not on the original reservation and therefore not allowed to get the deposit back. The location is a 5-10 minute walk to the French Quarter or about 20mins to the main drag of Bourbon St. It is close to Louis Armstrong Park and the neighborhood was quiet. There is nothing fancy about this hotel, but for the price why would you expect there to be. This is not a place for people who have germ issues as there wasnt even a mattress pad on the bed, and I saw several people carrying their own sleeping bags as they checked out. I reccommend this hotel becuase if you are looking at this review you are probably looking at the "cheap" hotels as I was, and as far as cheap hotels go, it was suitable and satisfactory. Mehr
"Empress in the ghetto"
This is a nicely run hotel with friendly, caring people on duty. However, the neighborhood is terrible... drug dealing, prostitution, etc. It is numerous blocks from the French Quarter and poses risks to those who wish to walk back and forth.
very dirty and not safety
"convenient & quiet"
long-distance & frequent travellers will enjoy it
"just a bed"
Pretty much just a bed

"Good location"
The Hotel was older, but clean and kept up. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would stay there again. For the price it was a good deal
"not what i expected..empress hotel, N.O."
prior reading about this place was somewhat disturbing. but having traveled extensively, and stayed in 'less than a star' places allowed me to relax and go with the flow. hotel was 1950's...rooms small and bearely basically furnished (pillows??what are those?) window rusted open and tied with plastic bag tie, but great location, good coffee and relaxing […] porch, and never an unkind word from the staff who really were helpful. Mehr
"You Get What You Pay For"
Pros -This hotel is walking distance to the French Quarter. -This hotel is very affordable and available during major events, when the higher rated hotels are not available. Cons -This hotel is very old, and the rooms are very small and doesn't have the ammenities that most hotels have. I believe that internal reconstruction might be needed in upgrading […] this hotel to it's former self. In summary, if you are looking to see New Orleans and just need a place to keep your things and lay your head, this hotel might work for you, but if you are looking for a 5-star hotel, in which you can be served and enjoy all of the ammenities that those hotels have to offer, then you might want to look elsewhere. "Empress Hotel - New Orleans"
This hotel is walking distance to the French Quarter and the neighbors surrounding are friendly. No bells or whistles at this hotel but a clean bed, cable tv and AC are all you really need in this town. If you plan to get out and enjoy the city and all you're looking for is a place to sleep then this is perfect. The staff is wonderfully friendly and […] the balcony is a nice place to relax after a long day. Mehr
"Worst place I've ever stayed"
The hotel wasn't clean at all. It felt very unsafe, even while in my room I had a lunatic pounding on my door threatening he was going to get me. It was 1 am in the morning and very scary as only a flimsy lock separated him from getting in. Don't stay here.
"This Empress Hotel- Bad experience"
Front desk personnel where rude...seems like they want something back every time we place a request. It was never coffee at the sun room. The room has no furniture..only a bed and a nightstand...no closet...Will never stay there again.
"Empress Hotel New Orleans La"
I will not ever stay at this hotel again. The Empress Hotel is a real dump. It has nothing good about it.It is a boarding house that they rent out for a hotel.
"terrible"
i will never stay here again and i will warn others to keep away. a deposit is expected for the room key. you MUST leave the key if you ever leave the building. and we were not returned the key deposit because we used the towels!!! service is horrific and the room was not clean nor pleasant. also, the rooms are about 10'x8' -VERY SMALL.
Motel was nice and clean. Security was good as neighborhood was just a few blocks north of the French Quarter. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I would like to stay here again in future.
"worse place we've ever stayed."
Empress Hotel was worse place we've ever stayed. The room rate was a ripoff for what we got in return. Toilet didn't work and we were given a bucket to pour water in the toilet so it would flush. No repairman ever came although the clerk tried to get one. Window was open in room when we got there and would not close all the way. We could not get another […] room since it was Mardi Gras week-end and there were no rooms. Mehr
"Not That Bad"
If you're not picky/high maintenance then this hotel is for you. The location is amazing and cheap for being a short walk away from the French Quarter and Bourbon St. The bed was hard, the water pressure is a joke, the bathroom is tiny and so is the room. I mean, ya get what ya pay for. That said, the hotel staff was friendly and professional, the room […] was clean, I saw zero bugs, and did I mention how cheap it was? You're probably not even going to be in the room much anyway if you're here on vacation. There was a small charge for an extra guest, but nothing unreasonable. Also, we comfortably fit 3 adults in the bed. I was expecting the worst coming to this hotel, but ended up being pleasantly surprised. I also expected a really bad neighborhood, but it's quite the opposite. Mehr
"One night stay"
The rooms are very old. no closets, bed in bad condition. Pillows flat. $10 cash deposit that will not be return until mgnt make sure you did not ruin the room. Such as staining sheets. The receptionist was very nice. This is only for a one night stay. Not recommended to stay their for a week.

"Do not stay at the Empress Hotel"
This was the worst place I have ever stayed and I would not let my worst enemy stay there. Please read all the reviews before booking like I should have. If you do stay there, please bring sheets, pillows, and cleaning supplies to make sure that room is clean.

"Empress Hotel"
expansive-little bedroom-AC closed when we arrive- window closed off-no breakfast.
"Poor Service"
I would not want anyone that I know to use this hotel. Service is bad and the hotel is like an old partly repaired drug house.
"You get what you pay for!"
The location is the best thing about the hotel, as it is only a couple of blocks from the French Quarter. The hotel staff was not friendly, and seemed disorganized. The room was small with the bed shoved against a wall. The bathroom was dirty when we arrived and we had to ask for towels and soap. The hotel overall seemed dingy, and the thing they don't […] advertise is their "weekly" renters. I won't stay here again. If the price seems to good to be true, it probably is! Mehr
"cher pour ce que c'est"
vraiment pas génial sinon qu'il est pres du centre. Ne pas avoir besoin de confort surtout!! Mais ça peut dépanner pour une nuit (mon cas)
