Best Western Phoenix Hotel - London

Ich war schon x-mal in London und habe daher bislang schon einige (budget-)Hotels testen können. Dies war mein erster Aufenthalt im "The Phoenix". Das Einzelzimmer war im Vergleich zu anderen Hotels sogar geräumig, da das Zimmer auf 2 Etagen verteilt war. Man betrat das Zimmer über einen schmalen Flur welcher in einem mittleren Raum mit einem ausreichend […] großen Schrank und großem Spiegel mündete. Das Bett und ein Schreibtisch waren über eine Treppe auf einer Art Empore zu erreichen. Die Empore war ausreichend groß und somit war das gesamte Zimmer für eine einzelne Person sogar recht geräumig. Hingegen war das Badezimmer sehr klein und das Waschbecken geradezu ein Witz! Das Becken hatte eine maximale Tiefe von 25 cm (!) und direkt über dem Becker war noch eine Ablage angebracht. Daher war es schon eine Herausforderung beim Zähne putzen das Becken zu treffen! Beim Gesicht waschen etc. kam ich mir vor wie eine Ente, weil alles spritze. Nun denn, für 3 Tage/2 Nächte war es auszuhalten. Die Dusche war normal groß und der Duschkopf auch in Ordnung. Die Wassertemperatur konstant (hab da auch schon anderes erlebt!) Die Toilette war zwar etwas eng in einer Nische, aber dies war für mich kein Problem (und ich habe nicht Size 0) ;-) Der WLan-Zugang im Zimmer war okay, wobei dieser anscheinend um 12 Uhr nachts abgestellt und morgens wieder angestellt wird. Dies sollte aber kein Problem sein, es sei denn, man muss um diese Zeit dringend etwas nachschauen. Das Frühstücksbuffet war mehr als ausreichend! Ich habe kein Verständnis dafür, dass sich Leute darüber monieren, dass nicht genügend angeboten wird! Dies bekam ich von ein paar deutschen Urlaubern leider vor Ort mit! Hier wurde ja schon ausführlich beschrieben, was es alles im Angebot gibt - mind. 5 Sorten Müsli/Cornflakes, frisches Obst und Dosenobst, 3 Sorten Säfte, hartgekochte Eier, Wurst- und Käseplatte, div. Marmelade, Philadelphia, Nutella, Muffins, Schoko-Croissants, diverse Brötchen mit Mohn, Sesam und ohne alles.... Mehr

Habe das Hotel schon 2 x gebucht. Zimmer und Bad waren immer sauber.Die Lage ist auch gut. Es gibt 2 Stationen der U-Bahn in der Nähe. (Bayswater und Queensway) Ich war aber immer nur 2-3 Tage in London. Man kommt gut in das Zentrum von London.

Es war unser zweiter Aufenthalt im Phoenix.Wir waren wieder sehr zufrieden.Gute einkaufsmöglichkeiten in der Nähe.Alle Sehenswürdigkeiten sind sehr gut zu Fuß oder Underground zu erreichen.

Das Hotel Best Western Phoenix liegt nahe an der zentralen Underground Station Bayswater, viele Buslinien halten in nächster Nähe, so daß London-City wie auch z.B. Kew und andere, außerhalb des Zentrums liegende Ziele sehr gut erreichbar sind. Das Personal im Hotel ist sehr hilfreich und entgegenkommend. Mein Einzelzimmer war sehr sauber und überraschend […] ruhig. Der Blick fiel auf den mit alten Bäumen bestandenen Kensington Square-Platz, das ist überaus angenehm. Das Hotel liegt nur ein paar Gehminuten von der U-Bahnstation Bayswater entfernt. Die Gegend ist sehr belebt und es gibt viele Restaurants, Bars und Touristenshops. Die Ausstattung des Hotel ist einfach gehalten. Das Gebäude ist schon sehr alt und die Einrichtung erinnert mehr an die 70ziger. Zwar war das Zimmer sauber, wies aber Mängel auf. (Kaputte […] Fliesen im Bad, Wasser ist in der Wanne nicht abgelaufen,) Wenn man viel unterwegs ist und keine hohen Ansprüche hat, reicht das Hotel vollkommen aus. Der hohe Preis für ein Zimmer erklärt sich wohl aus der extrem zentralen Lage. Mehr

Das Hotel liegt Nähe Hyde Park - mit der Tube sind alle Sehenswürdigkeiten in wenigen Minuten erreichbar. Ruhige Lage, aber nahe Einkaufsmöglichkeiten.

Nice hotel with comfortable and quite room. Friendly staff. Central location (5 minutes walk to Quennsway Tube station). Breakfast was pretty good, too (cereals, cheese/jams, toast and juices/hot drinks). Beds could be a bit firmer. TV was pretty small, too.

Hotel ist in ruhiger Lage und trotzdem zentral gelegen, in ein paar Minuten ist mein bei der Underground, es gibt genügend einkaufsmöglichkeiten in der Nähen und auch nette Pubs. Das Frühstück war gut und ausreichend. Das Zimmer zwar klein aber sauber und mit allem Nötigen ausgestattet. W-lan war kostenlos!

Gut geführtes Hotel, sehr saubere Zimmer, ausreichendes und für Londoner Verhältnisse sogar sehr gutes Frühstück, kann man nur weiter- empfehlen.

Naher U-Bahn-Station; alle Orte von Bedeutung sind in kurzer Zeit erreichbar...Hervorragend !!

excellent location but the room i got on 3rd floor was very very small

A friend and I stayed in your hotel for the first time. We both liked the hotel. My friend thought that the rooms were a bit small, but we had an excellent stay, you have a very friendly and serviceminded staff. I would like to stay with you again on another trip.

I regularly use Best Western hotels but this is one I would not go back to. The reception staff were disinterested, gave out keys without needing to see proof of your room number (no security). Room tiny, bed must have been cut down as my feet were against wall and radiator and you lost part of the bed under the curtains. Shower not clean and was broken. […] It was same price as other hotels I use but not worth the money and let the Best Western name down Mehr

I really like this hotel.....however, it would be helpful to have people at the front desk who are more familiar with London. And, the pillows are awful!

I chose this hotel, because it is a Best Western hotel. Yes, Best Western hotels are usually a bit better than this one, but this is London. The room was very clean and the bathroom looked quite new. Very comfortable bed. The single room wasn't too small. You can hear noises from other rooms, especially steps from above, so some people may need to sleep […] with ear blugs. The location is great. The breakfast room was a bit too small and very hot, but the food was OK. I will probably go to this hotel again, it is not easy to find good and affordable hotels in London. Mehr

For a hotel of this price class, this was surely one of the best. The rooms themselves are small as one would expect. But unlike many other small hotels, this one offers a decent lobby and lounge and a bar. A computer was available for use. "Continental" Buffer Breakfast was above average offering the usual tea or coffee, rolls, ham, cheese, and on […] one day hard boiled eggs. Full English breakfast is also offered and is good and not overpriced. The location was very good, a 3 minute walk from Bayswater underground and 5 minutes from Queensway. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. An urban shopping mall was practically across the street. The area itself is not that noisy, but with the large amount of tourist traffic in the area, one hears the occasional rolling suitcase early in the morning. Mehr

A convenient small hotel handily placed for my purposes in London. there are no meals provided, other than Breakfast, but there is a range of places to eat nearby; I particularly liked a small place on the same road as the hotel that serves Morroccan food at a reasonable price in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The Hotel's decor is perhaps a little […] tired, but it seems to be heavily used and is central to many London attractions so that is not too surprising. I shall use it again. Brian. Mehr

Hotel was OK, buft the elevator/lift was out of commission much of the time, making it a pain if you were on a higher floor.

The stay was fine, room clean and location was good but the staff were not overly friendly or helpful. Seemed as if they would have liked to check you in without saying a word. Any information you wanted had to be asked for.

What a darling hotel! It had all the charm of old time hospitality! It was so quaint and cozy. We loved the breakfast downstairs! The staff was so sweet. I understand all your heat is pumped up from the gas lines below, so there isn't much you can do about the rooms being too hot. But, aside from the hot room, we were very pleased!!! Kathryn P.S. Single travellers generally expect a small room, and this was one. But the bedlinen was spotless, the bathroom immaculate, the hot water hot at all times, and the little bonus items like the soaps and shampoos and tea coffee and biscuits fine and always renewed the next day. The buffet breakfast too was good: plentiful and varied, with nice fresh ham […] and yoghurt. Excellent value for central London, and only minurtes from Bayswater tube. Mehr

To be fair, I opted for the lowest rate. While I was expecting a small room, the I give the hotel credit for squeezing my bed into the space allotted to it. The nice thing about having such a small room is that it encouraged me to go outside. I spent very little time in my room as a consequence. Not a com,plaint, just an observation. If you are travelling […] for business, this may not be the place for you for the above reason and the internet kept cutting out on me frustrating my communication with colleagues overseas. Mehr

Exceeded my expectations when compared to a lot of London hotels in the same price range. Very very convenient...close to the tube station, shopping center on same block, lots of eating choices. Staff was very helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Friendly, helpful staff, small but comfortable, clean rooms, good breakfast and super area. Incredibly convenient, close to all transit options, shops, restaurants, everything you need for work or pleasure trip. Free wifi throughout hotel. I stayed a total of 10 nights and it could not have been easier to get around! Second time staying in this neighborhood […] on business but a much nicer hotel in every respect. No heating in my room in February, and something strange in the tub.

I will use this hotel next time I will trip to London.

Stayed here for a week for business and have no complaints. Not a huge room, but it was all I really needed, and the free WiFi and inclusive continental breakfast made it better value than other nearby hotels. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is great for a wide variety of restaurants and easy to get to two different tube stops […] or 10-min walk to Paddington. I'd stay here again. Mehr

I visit london a lot and always stay in Bayswater. I stay either at the Phoenix or London House Hotel, right next to each other. For the money, it's great. Bayswater is an awesome area though not walking distance to the main sites. But two subway lines are 3min away. Perfectly safe and fun area. Rooms are TINY though. Don't expect area to do jumping […] jacks. Breakfast is fine. It's clean, staff is nice. 15minutes by tube to Big Ben Mehr

I chose this hotel for two reasons. One, it was convenient to the embassy where I had a meeting first thing in the morning. Two, it claimed to have free wi-fi in the rooms. The second claim was, effectively, a lie: while I was able to get access to my email, I was unable to access a wide range of quite common websites (including Facebook) and in particular, […] was unable to log into my bank and credit card websites. (In the end I was forced to go to the internet café in the mall to take care of some business – clearly, not a good solution.) I reported this problem to the front desk a number of times but it was not fixed. The room itself was astonishingly cramped (I kept banging my arms on the knobs in the shower) and had extremely thin walls: in fact, on one night I had to be moved to another room because of the noise from next door (I will say that the front desk were very helpful about this.) The surrounding neighborhood, Bayswater, is a dreary sort of place with one or two good dining options but little else to recommend it. In particular, none of the bars appear to have gotten the memo about England’s early closing laws being reformed – they all seem to shut down at 11 pm, whereas in other districts of London they stay open to a more civilized hour. Summary: more cramped and expensive than a New York hotel; more uncomfortable than a Cambodian guesthouse; internet (amazingly!) less accessible than in a Chinese hotel; neighborhood dismal; pretty much the worst hotel experience I’ve had in the last five years; all in all, way to not live down the stereotypes of London hotels, guys. Rooms are small as are all European hotels but was very clean and had modern bathroom. Continental breakfast was included in room rate and was satisfactory. Two Tube stations within a couple of blocks and plenty of restaurants, pubs, shops, markets, and even a great shopping center all right around the corner. All-in-all for the price the hotel was […] in a very good location and we would recommend it and stay here again. Mehr

Smallest room (single) I've ever stopped in and the bathroom was even smaller, couldn't do anything in there without banging in to something! Room was clean and Hotel location OK - fairly quiet and the area is quite good lots of restaurants etc. But overall disappointed for the money spent. Will not be going back.

The hotel is in a great location, just a few minute walk from the Bayswater tube station. The friendly staff made the experience very convenient. The room was small, although the private bathroom was a big plus for this area.

I was surprised seeing a Best Western hotel with the old-fashioned room keys instead of key-cards. A small safebox in room would be convenient to have. The door to the bathroom could open only a quarter way as it was hitting the bed - not enough space to open the door. The breakfast was good.

OK hotel, the staff was helpful, location is great. The room is pretty small for the money and not all that updated, so I'd only give it a 3/5 but the location and staff bump it up a bit. Breakfast was a plus, too.

I stayed at the Best Western Phoenix Hotel as I liked the look of the hotel when searching on the internet. It was not the best hotel I have stayed at but definitely not the worst, some where in between. I would not have liked to have stayed there in hot weather as there was no air conditioning., although a fan was provided. The day I arrived was a […] very warm day and terribly hot in the room... I had to leave all the windows open. I did not mind that as the hotel is situated in a very quiet spot of Bayswater. Infact the hotel location was ideal,, it is two turnings left turning right out side of the station...there are loads of restaurants, bars etc in the local vacinity. I had to get to the Albert Hall which I found dead easy about half an hour from the hotel. I did not have the continental breakfast or any breakfast that was offered simply because I wanted to get up later than the breakfast time ended. Cannot comment on the food at the hotel. Some of staff were more friendly than others which put me off a bit on arrival. I was worried at what the condition of the room would be like at the reception area is not very appealing. I was pleasantly surprised though. The room was adequate, lovely bathroom, comfortable bed. I felt the rate I was charged for two people for one night was about right. Mehr
