Ascot Hyde Park Hotel - London

Gerade noch erträglich für eine Nacht.

Das Ascot Hotel liegt in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Bhf/U-Bahn Paddington und des St.Mary Hospitals. Mein Zimmer war frisch gestrichen und für EZ recht groß allerdings waren 3 Betten drinnen. Wasserkocher und Kühlschrank sind sehr nützlich sowie ein kleiner Fön. Adapter für das Stromnetz ist nicht verkehrt mitzubringen.

Unfreundliches Personal an der Rezeption, das ganze Hotel schmuddelig und aufgebraucht, Frühstück sehr übersichtlich. Die Bilder im Internet sind sehr geschönt und stellen die Realität nicht dar. Trotz des für London günstigen Preises mangelhaftes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis!! Nicht zu empfehlen!!

Das Ascot Hyde Park Hotel liegt im Stadtteil Peddington direkt an der Bahnstation die Nachts die Betten wackeln lässt. Das Hotel ist eine absolute Bruchbude. Das Personal ist unfreundlich und das Frühstück eine absolute Katastrophe. Das Personal speiste uns mit den nötigsten Worten auf unfreundlichste Art und Weise ab. Es machte grundsätzliche jeden […] Morgen den Eindruck als würden wir stören. Zimmer: Das Zimmer war eine Zumutung. Es war nicht nur sehr alt sonder auch an vielen Stellen wie dem Schrank und der Heizung so wie der Balkontür defekt. Da wir von Ende November bis Anfang Dezember dort waren lagen die Außentemperaturen schon im Minus Bereich. Auf Grund der sehr kleinen und nicht ganz intakten Heizung frohren wir auch in unserem Zimmer und mussten uns Nachts mit allen Decken die wir hatten (pro Bett 3) zudecken und zusätzlich einen Pulli anziehen. Eigentlich frieren wir nur selten aber das war sehr extrem. Es lag aber auch sicher daran das die Balkontür keine Dichtung besaß und es zog wie Hechtsuppe. Badezimmer Das Badezimmer war ebenfalls sehr alt und dreckig. Die Fliesen am Boden defekt die Badewanne fleckig und der Duschvorhang hatte auch schon wesentlich bessere Zeiten hinter sich. Weder im Waschbecken noch in der Wanne war der Stopfen vom Abfluß vorhanden. die Auflage für die Seife rostete bereits und die vom Hotel gestellten Seifen klebten mit der Verpackung an der Ablage fest. Bei jedem Durchgang versuchte man den Vorhang nicht zu berühren. Betten Die Betten passten sich dem Gesamtbild an und quitschten bei jeder Bewegung. Aber groß Bewegen wollte man sich auch nicht da man mit jeder Bewegung eine andere Feder spürte. Ich kann auch nicht sagen ob dies echte Betten waren oder selbstgebaute Matratzenauflagen die zusammen ebenfalls für wenig und wenn dann keinen angenehmen Schlaf sorgten. Extrem Spartanisch, Frühstück hat Flair einer Jugendherberge der 70er Jahre. Günstige Essensalternativen in der Nähe.

Das Hotel ist recht "abgelebt" und die Sauberkeit laesst zu wuenschen uebrig. Der Fernseher hat nicht funktioniert und das Personal war sehr unfreundlich. Die Lage ist allerdings super - direkt neben Paddington Station, und der Preis war auch okay...

I think this was fair for the price, but certainly did not match the photos they show on the net. The staff were extremely courteous. The hotel is old, being remodeled--but shabbily. Not much attention to detail. Located steps from Paddington Station which gives great access to London, and especially to Heathrow Express trains. I spent 3 nights at the Ascot Hyde Park Hotel but I wouldn't really recommend it. My room was next to the lift, overlooking Praed Street and apparently it was recently renovated although it did look a bit worn. There was no remote for the TV, one of the light bulbs didn't work and the light in the bathroom could not be turned off. The lift could hold […] 3-4 persons (or 1 person + two suitcases) and worked slow. The maid supplied fresh towels every day but didn't bother with the tea cup and glass that had been used. Needless to say, I didn't bother acquainting myself with the continental breakfast being served in the basement each morning but ventured out instead. The only advantage the hotel has is its proximity to Paddington Station - hence the two stars. A shopkeeper during my stay put it very precise: "Are you looking for cheap or quality?" - this is cheap, just so you know it. Mehr

this has got to be the worst hotel i have stayed in london.my wife and i decided to spend a few days in london for our ruby wedding40years and we had an experience to remember.On arrival we were given our key by what i would call an unhappy recptionist,no smile or welcome.Wethen went to our roomon the fifth floor by lift.We only went as far as the fourth […] floor and had to climb the stairs to our room .On entering the room it was dark and we tried all the switches in the roomseven of them before we got the right one .There was only one spoon one cup and i had to go down to the recption to get them then i had to pay a deposit on the remote controlof 20 pounds so i could use the television.there was no running water for two days we were there the breakfast was laid out on a pool table with only cornflakes boiled eggs and toast plus either tea or coffee..As for the cleanliness of the hotel there is an accident waiting to happen 1carpets on staircase on all floors were shabby and on several staircases there was blacktape keeping the carpet secure and even that was comming a way2bathtiles onthe upper floors stacked but no warning signs and in dangerous position for any nearsighted person to bump into3no running water in bathroom for two days unable to wash and have shower.4Draught from window and withonly a blanket and a sheet on the bed we found it cold at night because the central heating wasnot working either . Location is good. So I am happy for it. Also the breakfast is very good. I am fine with it. But the quality of rooms is not good for the cost which I paid. It is worth to stay if rate is half compare to current rate.

I booked two nights in this hotel because it was convenient for Paddington station and the Heathrow Express. However, I walked out after seeing my room. A single glazed window overlooking a noisy back street, a creaky floor, a room down some side stairs cluttered with bed frames and mattresses and a shower tray with no surround! Oh, and the shower hose […] was leaking. When I told the guy on reception I was leaving and told him why, he shrugged his shoulders and said "It's your choice." Dire service and an attitude that stinks. I found a Best Western around the corner for the same price. What's worse is that this place advertises enormously high rack rates on sites like this and offers you a discount that's too good to be true. There's no way you'd ever pay that to stay on what is, at best, a two star hostel. Mehr

Yes this hotel is in a great location, for bars it is very noisy. The hotel is run down and dirty and the photos on the site looks nothing like the hotel is. We had booked to stay for three nights, but check out first thing the next day.

Never stay there, first they had to move me due to overbooking. The room was 6m2 and was full of bed bugs. The key to the door outside (separate entrance) did not work so i had to ask reception everytime. They tried to compensate with a weak dinner and one internet voucher.. I'm full of bites!!

Nothing worked including the sink, the toilet, the lights and even the door handle. The shower leaked into the bathroom. Bathroom floor was broken with loose and missing tiles. The carpet in the room was ripped and frayed. Starting at midnight and continuing to almost 4:00 am the noise in the hall and stairwell was reminiscent of a college dorm on party […] night. The only thing positive that I can say is given the poor condition of everything it was generally clean. Mehr

If you're looking for a cheap place to sleep, this might do it for you. Otherwise you should really think of spending more money on better hotels.

Good value for money.Despite the redecoration and refurbishment the overall impression is nearer 2 star than 3. The only power point in the bedroom was situated at high level (approximately 2 metres plus). this is extremely dangerous. To use the socket it was necessary tp move a bed and stand on it. Ok when connecting a kettle with cold water, but quite […] the reverse when unplugging a kettle full of boiling water. The new sanitary and bathroom fittings are excellent but could benefit from the provision of soap dishes particularly in the shower. Mehr

This is not a 3 star hotel, I wouldnt even give it 1 star. The pictures on the website were mis-leading at best. It was old fashioned, run down and in need of serious upgrading. There was a large hole in the plasterboard in the wall outside our room, the room lock was an old hall door type lock and was broken. Only 3 of the 5 lights in the room had […] bulbs in them, the room was dark, cramped and the window looked out onto a flat roof full of rubbish (bottles, cans, crisp wrappers etc) and the single bed was a temporary camping bed. In the bathroom the tiles were cracked and broken, the toilet roll holder was broken, as was the towel rail and there was no hot water in the sink. When we returned to the hotel that evening the reception area was unattended and the room key box was wide open for anyone to take keys out of - a huge security risk. Overall we would not recommend this hotel to anyone, didnt think places like this could still be in business in this day and age. Mehr

The location and convenience of the hotel was ideal, however there seemed to be ongoing renovations and or structural works being carried out, which impinged on our satisfaction with the hotel overall as materials were left in hallways, and it seemed as if the facilities on offer were curtailed. Thoroughly clean and tidy otherwise.

I have stayed in London 38 nights in the past year, I have stayed all over the city though Bayswater/Paddington is my favorite neighborhood (convenience, quiet yet central). This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, not just in London, ANYWHERE! Dirty towel left in our room, holes in the bathroom, exposed wires in the hallway, lights didn't work […] on the stairs (two floors of stumbling around) and the staff couldn't be bothered. Absolutely disgusting, would never EVER stay there again, so bad I am going to write a letter to the owner of the hotel and send pictures so he knows I'm not just moaning. Window was stained with streaking bird poo, 20 inch flat screen TV (nice) only uses aerial (no cable) so everything is fuzzy. Hair dryer worked for literally less than 10 seconds before it died on my wife. We are not fussy people, but we travel a lot and accept that not every hotel is going to be a Ritz Carlton, this was below Hostel standards. Sure you get a private bathroom, but if there are literally dark black holes in the wall, you'd rather use a shared bathroom that didn't. Just gross. After reading past reviews I arrived with very low expectations but I was really impressed with what we got for our money. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable, the shower was fab and it even had tea/coffee facilities! Exterior of hotel was not as pictured and although the front desk seemed modern and clean it was not a taste of what was to come. Upon checking in we were told where our room was, and on the way to it had to walk over a floor thick with dirt, dust and grime. The room was not much better, although the sheets looked clean the floor was also covered […] in dust and dirt. Also quite noticeable in the room was the smell of sewage, not a pleasant smell. The Corridors were no better dirty and musty with paint flaking off the walls. a fire extinguisher outside our room was think with dust which showed how long it had been since it had last been cleaned...or serviced? This place is pretty rough, I wouldn't stay here again, breakfast was poor, room was shabby, bathroom was ancient. On the plus side I had a good sleep and the bed was very comfortable, location is ok (not great). The moment we got there we retired to look for somewhere else to stay the night....

I booked a place at this hotel because it was convenient to transportation. The reviews I read before I booked haunted me in that I am making a bad choice. The rate was very decent. I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. Look!!! if you want to stay at the 4 seasons, this is not the place. If you're looking for value and the free breakfast to boot, […] then you won't find much better than this. This hotel is in central London and close to all the main attractions and transportation. Ascot Hyde Park hotel is old. The rooms are small and not really comfortable. The hotel needs a serious makeover. I will not stay here again.

Bugs on the bed; towel rail broken; reading lights didn't work; single bed dangerous (on castors, slides around); no hook on bathroom door; curtains unable to be drawn; dingy, dark breakfast cellar; wash basin tap loose

This hotel was the worst ever...no warm water in the shower, the toilette wasnt working and no heat in the room..The staff was extremely uninterested in helping about anything. The stairways smelled terrible and was really creepy..The bed was filthy and dirty. People who say that the place at least is worth the money are wrong- I have stayed at budget […] hotels before but this is another dimension of budget...wouldnt be worth even 10 pounds per night. The reception (front office) staff were not friendly, they had construction going on in the hotel, they didn't wake us up for the embassy appointment, they didn't fix the TV as we asked so many times, we had to ask for glasses so many times to bring it to the room. The fifth floor room was awful, so many stairs with no lift, had to change to fourth […] floor. Never get a room in fifth floor. This has to be the worst hotel I HAVE ever stayed in. The place looks nothing like the photos, it was dirty, breakfast was a bun fight, and was not worth what I paid. Thank goodness it was only somewhere to lay my head after a party..... The only plus point is the location!

This was the worst London hotel I have ever stayed in. Both the hot water and the cold water supply to the washbasin in the bathroom was little more than a trickle. A 'portable' washbasin plug was supplied but it did not fit the hole, so that the water simply drained away. The combination of luke warm water and no water in the washbasin meant that shaving […] with lather and razor, as I do, was very difficult. The valve for flushing the toilet was loose. There was no glass in the bathroom to fill and rinse your teeth with. Only sufficient milk, sugar, etc was supplied for one drink, not one in the evening and another in the morning. No biscuits were supplied. The breakfast was served in the bar/pool room downstairs. There was a choice of only one cereal. The bread was toasted in two double toasters; on one of these only one unit was working. The bread took so long to toast that a seat was provided for those waiting and there was a queue. I appreciate this might be a 'basic' hotel, but the bathroom especially was unacceptably poor. I would never stay here again. Mehr

This place was warm, clean, the staff were friendly and the appliances had in-date safety stamps, but it won't impress your girlfriend (or your kids!). The beds were set in dormitory style with a communal headboard the length of the room carved with the names and home countries of former guests. I would check the window closes properly in case it blows […] open in the night. The shower takes a minute to get going but the water is hot and the towels are fluffy and clean. My TV didn't work, but I wasn't there to watch TV. The kettle, however, did and I entertained myself deciding which of the four different cups I should make tea in first. If you are on a budget, I mean really on a budget, then this place is great. I really enjoyed my stay. I've been pampered in poncey Hiltons for far too long, this place is A Classic London Cheap Hotel! Mehr

Very good value for money, only downside was the noise from the street. But that is to be expected for the location - which is great for Paddington and early start from Heathrow.

Very worndown hotel, the rooms look as if they have mildew on the walls and the draft from the windows is like a hurricane. Nonetheless, the beds are ok and the bathroom's functioning. The service is lacking - a request for a new functioning hairdryer had to be repeated 4 times and seemed like a lot of bother to the staff. The breakfast is to be avoided […] - it is awful. You may say CAN'T BE THAT BAD, FOR WHAT YOU PAYED... BUT GUESS WHAT... IT IS WORST!!! SMELLY (AND LABYRINTHIAN) CORRIDORS WITH ALL THE "CLEAN" TOWELS AND BEDSHEETS ON THE FLOOR. WORST BED EVER!!! MAINTENANCE AND CLEANLINESS, THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS...

The frontage and decor of this place is somewhat off-putting. It's very scruffy and dilapidated. Room was clean enough, staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was perfectly OK for a budget option. It's not a hotel to choose if you plan to spend much time in your room, but it's right opposite Paddington Station and underground, so it's a […] suitable base for exploring London. Mehr

Ascot Hyde Park Hotel is the worst hotel I have lodged in. The first issue is that the beds had torn bed clothes, the television wasn't functional and I kept asking the guy in the reception for help but he promised to when his relief arrived which he didn't do. The one that hit me most is that I saw bed bug on the bed. I couldn't sleep because of the […] fear. I wanted to check out by 11am but I had to run of earlier by 9am because the terrible conditions and services. The room pictures in your web didn't represent what I saw on ground. We were a party of 4 petite women. When we arrived, the receptionist was on the phone and didn't acknowledge us for 10 minutes. We were early so he said we could leave our luggage in the cafe and pointed to some stairs. We had to carry our heavy bags down the stairs, then found out there was an elevator we could have taken. When we finally checked in, […] we were told our flat was in a different building down the street. We were on the 2nd floor and there is no elevator. So we had to carry our heavy bags up another flight of stairs. To make matters worse, the carpet was loose and barely clung to the stairs they covered. It was hard to get a safe footing, even without bags! Next, the hot water heater did not work. We had to call them a few times to convince them that it was indeed broken and they needed to fix it. When we asked the receptionist for a recommendation for afternoon tea, he said, "Just go anywhere." The only positive thing I have to say about this hotel was it was conveniently close to Hyde Park. this hotel was not at all pleasant. I don't thing this hotel deserves a star. the walls had holes in and the sheets where horrible. there was a cockerouch in the bath and a split in the toliet seat.

What I found at the Ascot Hyde Part Hotel was unbelievable! The bed covers and carpets were so badly stained that I did not want to touch them. I found mold in the bathroom. And there was evidence of a fire in the room. The hair dryer had an "passed inspection" sticker on it, when I turned it on the plastic began to melt. Also there was a piece of the […] handle missing. When we arrived we were given rooms on the 5th floor, however lift only went up to 4th floor. Not impressed. Having eventually got to the room and started unpacking smoke alarm went off in next room, occupants said that they didn't smoke, neither did we!! After about 3/4 of an hour somebody did come to try and stop alarm, however at first just succeeded […] in switching off lights and T.V. Had requested a 6.00 alarm call next morning, did not materialise. We had to be at Euston for 8.00 am to catch a train but unfortunately we missed it!!! paddıngton ıs very convenıent and a great base for the london travellor. thıs hotel ıs somethıng else. tıny rooms wıth barely enough room between wall and bed. severely bıtten by vısıble bugs! and nıght clerk suggested we get clean sheets! dıd howeevr transfer us to a pleasant kensıngton sıster hotel after ınsıstıng could not stay.
