Queensboro Hotel - Long Island City

Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis war ok, 10min zur U-Bahn. Zu kleiner Frühstücksraum mit konstanter Unterversorgung für die Anzahl der Gäste.

Da wir mit dem Auto unterwegs waren wolten wir eine Übernachtung in Manhattan vermeiden. Das Hotel lag daher sehr günstig, mit Metro in laufnähe, und ist keinesfalls überteuert.

Das Queensboro Hotel liegt ca. 20-25Min von Manhattan (Times Square) entfernt. Durch die nicht besonders zentrale Lage zahlt man für das Zimmer (+ gutem Frühstück) jedoch eindeutig weniger als direkt in Manhattan. Wem es also nichts ausmacht, 10 Minuten von der Bahnhaltestelle zum Hotel zu laufen (mit viel Gepäck war das etwas mühselig), der ist hier […] bestens aufgehoben. Das Zimmer war sehr schön und modern eingerichtet, auch mit dem Service waren wir durchaus zufrieden. Es gibt sogar einen Shuttlebus, der direkt in die City fährt und bei dem man nur 'tip' zahlen muss. Man sollte diesen jedoch früh genug buchen (1-2 tage vorher), da die Plätze oft schon belegt sind. Wegen des vergleichsweise günstigen Preises habe ich dieses Hotel gewählt. Der Komfort ist angemssen. Das einfache Frühstück reicht als Grundlage für den Start in den Tag. Das WLAN konnte ich nur in der Lobby nutzen. Der Zimmerservice ist gut und zuverlässig. Das Hotel liegt direkt an einer Hauptverkehrsstrasse, was Nachts zu einem daurhaften Grundrauschen […] führt. ich konnte damit leben. Die Nachbarschaft ist freundlich - man muss keine Angst haben, auch mal im Dunkeln von der U-Bahn ins Hotel zu laufen. Die U-Bahn Linie 7 ist fünf Häuserblocks entfernt. Supermärkte, einfache Restaurants, Bäcker, Apotheken usw. befinden sich in Laufnähe. Wer mal fein ausgehen will, müsste aber dann noch nach Manhattan fahren. Das Hotel eignet sich auch sehr gut als Ausgangspunkt für Exkursionen nach Queens und Brooklyn. Mehr

Vom Hotel zum Timesquare ca. 25min, davon 10 min. Fußweg, ca. 15 U-Bahn-Linie7, die tagsüber im wenige Minutentakt fahren, nachts im 20 Minutentakt, aus unserer Sicht absolut OK. Kurz online die Baustellen der U-Bahnen prüfen, auf diese ist man schon angewiesen. Die Gegend war völlig i.O., auch nachts muss man sich über den Fußweg nicht sorgen, die […] Anwohner parken die neuen Mittelklasse-Wagen am Straßenrand. Die Zimmer sind ausreichend sauber, für die Anzahl der Sterne sogar recht großzügig ausgelegt. Wir wählten ein Zimmer nach hinten raus, hier war es leise, allerdings ohne schicke Aussicht. Auf der Vorderseite verläuft der Highway, es soll allerdings dort Schallschutzfenster geben. Das Bad entspricht dem Sterne-Standard. Sogar free-wifi (WLAN) ist vorhanden. Das Hotel liegt ca. 12 Minuten Fußmarsch von der nächsten Subway-Station entfernt, ist also für Leute die nicht gerne ein Stück laufen eher nicht gut gelegen, uns hat das aber überhaupt nichts ausgemacht, dafür war der Preis des Hotels auch ok. Die Fahrt nach Manhattan dauert ca. 20 Min. Die Essensmöglichkeiten im Umkreis sind soweit in Ordnung, internationale […] Küche zum mittleren Preis. Die Gegend mag auf den ersten Blick nicht so toll erscheinen aber man wird nicht belästigt und kann auch nachts sicher herumlaufen. Das Frühstück ist für amerikanische Verhältnisse durchaus in Ordnung, da haben wir schon ganz anderes gesehen und es ist definitiv mehr als das klassische "Continental Breakfast" das es anderswo gibt, also hierfür Daumen hoch. Allerdings Finger weg von den Säften, die sind gräßlich. Augen auf bei der Zimmerbelegung: wir hatten zuerst ein Zimmer im Erdgeschoss und das war sehr feucht und um die Klimaanlage herum war die Wand total verschimmelt und das hat man auch gerochen. Sehr ungesund. Wir haben es aber moniert und durften dann nach der ersten Nacht umziehen. Die anderen Zimmer im Erdgeschoss waren auch etwas feucht und muffig aber nicht so schlimm wie Nr. 107, wir sind dann aber in den 1. Stock gezogen und das Zimmer war topp in Ordnung, konnte man nichts sagen von daher haben wir dann doch die gute Bewertung für das Zimmer vergeben. Was sagen lohnt sich also, man muss das nicht aushalten. Das Hotelpersonal ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit man muss halt mit ihnen reden. Allerdings ist das Hotel sehr hellhörig wie alle Hotels in den USA: Oropax sind eine der besten Erfindungen der Menschheit :-). Die Zimmer hinten raus gehen aber vom Straßenlärm her echt, wie es vorne ist wissen wir nicht. Am besten beim Einchecken gleich sagen, dass man ein Zimmer hinten raus will, dann klappt das :-). Für einen Städtetrip für Paare oder jüngere Reisende ist es denken wir durchaus in Ordnung, mit Familie würden wir es nicht empfehlen wg. des weiten Wegs zum Bahnhof und Mehr

Das Queensborro-Hotel fällt im Preis-Leistungsverhältnis eindeutig durch. Die Zimmereinrichtung ist zwar gut, wie in den Hotelfotos abgebildet, doch wird anscheinend nicht viel Wert auf Erhaltung und Sauberkeit gelegt: Zimmer oberflächlich sauber, man darf aber nicht genau hinschauen, Duschkabine mit Riesenriß, notdürftig abgeklebt, Fruhstück mäßige […] Qualität und wenig liebevoll angerichtet.´Das Beste war der Parkplatz im Hof, was in New York nicht selbstverständlich ist. Dieses Mittelklassehotel hat die für solche Hotels üblichen Probleme: - laute, richende Klimaanlage - hart Betten - zu kleinen Frühstücksraum - ziemlich kleine Zimmer Die Lage zur Downtown ist nicht ungünstig (ca. 10 min Fußmarsch und ca. 15 min S/U-Bahn bis zum Times Square). War 5 Tage im Hotel und kann es nur empfehlen.Frühstück wie überall Kaffee im Becher und das übliche dazu.Geht so.Aber kurz vor der u-Bahn(gute 10 Minuten zu Fuss)durch eine sichere Wohngegend gibt es Pete`s Grill (sehr gutes Frühstück) und mit der U-Bahn sind es dann 20 Minuten nach Manhattan was absolut kein Problem ist.Ich würde dort jederzeit wieder […] übernachten. Wir waren mit 3 Personen in diesem Hotel unterbebracht. Das Personal, besonders Louis vom Nachtdienst, waren sehr nett. Der Frühstücksraum ist etwas zu klein, wenn das Hotel ausgebucht ist. Sonst können wir nur das Hotel empfehlen, wenn man sein Geld doch lieber zum shoppen ausgeben möchte. Sehr zuvorkommende Angestellte, sehr saubere Zimmer und eine gute Anbindung an die öffentlichen Verkehrsmiitel. (10 Minuten zu Fuß zur Ubahn, dann 20 Minuten ohne Umsteigen direkt zum Times Square. Bahnen fahren rund um die Uhr). Sehr geräumige Zimmer. Weiterzuempfehlen!

Das Haus liegt außerhalb der Stadt. Durch den etwa 2 km entfernten Metro-Anschluss liegt es für Touristen jedoch ideal. Einzig störend war der laut arbeitende Kühlschrank.

Unser Aufenthalt im Queensboro Hotel war sehr zufriedenstellend. Das Hotel liegt ca. 10 min zu Fuß von der U-Bahn-Station entfernt, was überhaupt kein Problem für uns darstellte. Es liegt auch in einer sehr sicheren Wohngegend und man braucht keine Angst haben sich am Abend hinaus zu begeben. Die Zimmer wurden jeden Tag gereinigt, aufgebettet und es […] wurden neue Handtücher nachgelegt. Das Frühstück hat für den Preis sehr viel geboten. Es gab Muffins, Toastbroat, Waffeln, Würstel, Ei, Bagel, Marmelade, Butter, Honig, Frischkäseaufstrich, Zerealien, Yoghurt, Tee, Kaffee, Obst (Äpfel, Bananen und Orangen) und ein Angebot an Säften - also es war für jede Geschmack etwas dabei - besonders das Obst war toll! Ein kleiner Minuspunkt war es, dass wenig Platzangebot beim Frühstückbuffett war und man so ca. eine viertel Stunde warten musste, dass man einen Platz bekommen hat zu sitzen - allerdings wenn man im Urlaub ist, sollte man dafür auch Zeit haben :)! Nettes Hotel in einer sicheren Wohngegend. Das Frühstück war für amerikanische Verhältnisse in Ordnung, das Personal sehr hilfsbereit. Wir hatten ein ruhiges und sauberes Zimmer zur Parkplatzseite, die Zimmer zur Straße sind sicher lauter. Fußmarsch zur U-Bahnstation dauert ca. 13 Minuten. Von dort ist man in wenigen Minuten direkt in Manhatten.

Loved the neighbourhood, very vibrant. Loads of good eating options around the subway stop. Might seem a bit down-heel at first but don't let appearances put you off, this really is a great neighbourhood. Hotel - pretty much as reviewed - but not bad at all. This hotel was pretty much what I expected for the price. If you are on a tight budget and want to stay within easy reach of Manhattan without the high Manhattan prices this is fine. A 15 min walk to the subway and a 15 minute train ride to the centre of Manhattan. No luxury, rooms are shabby and ours had a damp smell but you get what you pay for. We stayed at the hotel for a week and that was way too long. You got tired of the lousy breakfast ;everything was empty att all times, the toaster only took two slices at the time and the woman who worked there was the most unfriendly person I've ever met. We got a room on first floor next to the reception/breakfast area and we woke up early every morning […] because of the not soundproof walls. The freakning beeping from the waffelmachine almost killed me. The transfer to Manhattan only took 6 people. The distance to the subwaystation was a 15 minute walk which felt too far when you stay for that long. We tried to get the hotel to call us a yellow-taxi but they're only willing to call a cab from another company, which charged THREE times as much. Mehr

Worth going to, great breakfast put on. Food offered is a choice of cereal, oats, bagels, bread, English muffins, sweet muffins, fruit (usually just apples), eggs, bacon or sausage, waffles, caffeinated and decaf coffee, hot chocolate, three juices (apple, fruit, cranberry when we were there). Rooms clean and spacious, staff courteous. The location is about 4 blocks from the 40th and Lowry stop, which is not far. You get views of Manhattan along the way. There are plenty of small shops and pharmacy's along and near Queen's Boulevard. Go east if you want variety though as west there is not many shops. Even walking along the back streets there are many places to eat. The community has a nice feel to it, and it is only 15 minutes train ride to Times Square. Well worth the saving instead of spending big by staying in Manhattan and you get to mingle with the locals and feel like a New Yorker in the mean time which is something my children and I absolutely love. Also, there is a laundromat a block from the hotel with heaps of machines, so you can use those at a good price while meeting the locals also. McDonalds is at the end of 37th Street, a Gas station at the end of 38th Street, both on Queen's Boulevard. If you want to take the trip into Manhattan by foot, there is a path over the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge, that will take you to Central Park (North from memory). That is a about an hour's walk. The subway number 7 line is linked up with most, if not all, of the other lines running north/south Manhattan. So overall a great hotel with a community feel and ease of access to Manhattan that is a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Mehr

I was pleasantly surprised at how spacious the room was. It was very clean, and there was more than enough storage space for our clothes and belongings (for a five night stay). There was also a microwave and fridge in the room. Unfortunately we stayed during some building works which we hadn't been warned about in advance so the window to our room was […] mostly covered with boards, but these things happen I guess. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good, though did get a little busy and on one occasion we had to take our breakfast to our room as there were no more seats. Free wifi, printing facilities and hot drinks available from the breakfast area at all times was a bonus. The neighbourhood felt safe and we enjoyed the little walk to the subway stop as it felt like walking through a real neighbourhood, which we actually didn't do much of in NYC. Mehr

the hotel is being renovated at present but this didnt stop us enjoying our stay there. the staff are friendly and informative. The bed is nice and comfy and the rooms are spacious and clean. breakfast is quiet good and useful as saves on some expense. Although the hotel could do with a bigger space as the breakfast bar gets pretty overcrowded after […] 8am. 15 minute walk to 40th street subway which is 5 or 6 stops to time square. $40 cab to jfk airport. $15 if go by train/subway. overall no problems and would recommend it as cheap and convienient especially if on a budget. We traveled to NYC from Las Vegas for our son's wedding. The hotel was convienently located and the hotel provided a car service to get us from LIC to Manhattan for the wedding. The staff was extremely helpful with the 11 people we had in our party including 2 adults with special needs. The rooms are small, but very clean, and for the money were a GREAT […] deal! The provided breakfast was very good, but the woman running the breakfast service needs to learn patience and better people skills....she was a little rude! All in all, we will stay here again, and save the $100.00+ that other people at the wedding spent at other hotels in the city! Mehr

I've stayed for one week and the hotel has a pretty look, it's a simple, cozy and good for a week, maybe for a month. They give a pretty small room, but, after a couple of days, i'd rather to stay there than change for another. The breakfast is regular, nothing really special but has eggs, bacon and yorgut. a very good hotel for the dollar with a breakfast. However it is a 20-30 min walk from the Subway and if you are not in good shape it may be too much after a 10-14 day of walking in NYC. The 3 daily shuttles into the city is an added perk (and it's free)

Stating outside of manhattan is a good way to save some bucks. This hotel is a good option. Basic but very affordable, friendly and clean. It's in a quiet residential area of Long Island City but a reasonable 10 min walk to Queens Blvd, where there's plenty of stores. Once there it's an easy 20 min subway into the heart of Manhattan. This is obviously a hotel under renovation... There was a lot of construction and the staff could use an upgrade as well. The beds were VERY uncomfortable. Tube TVs are from the early 90s and are burned out. Rooms smelled of mildew. Towels were hard.

If you are comfortable taking the subway into NCY from Queens, the value is definitely worth it.

Rooms are neat, but dark, breakfast very busy and location is poor: Next to a highway, takes about 30 minutes to travel to Manhattan by metro. Staff is very friendly, free wifi and shuttle services to Times Square.

Very happy with the services of the hotel. You can get tea, coffee etc in the downstairs breakfast area at any time. Rooms are a nice size even the bathroom. Breakfast is good and included in the price. The only downside is that you have to walk a few blocks to get the bus or subway, but it is frequent. The distance to the subway is acceptable but a bit far especially when returning after a long day of walking. Breakfast was very crowded but you can bring the food back to your room. Staff was very sweet and helpful.

Although initially our first impressions of the hotel and neighbourhood were not very positive, it proved wrong. The room was clean although a bit cramped with 2 double beds inside. The breakfast is nice and the staff friendly and helpful. Especially Luigi, when we needed to go to JFK airport and the shuttle usually didn't operate that early, he drove […] us so we didn't have to haul our luggage the four blocks to the subway. Enjoyed our stay, breakfest was great and the people their were really nice helpful. They had a shuttle into New York daily and was only four blocks from a subway station.

I wanted a place to stay that was moderately priced, but in a convenient location around Manhattan. Queensboro Hotel provided both. It was nice to have a refrigerator in the room. The bathroom was a little shabby, and there was trouble with flushing the toilet, but otherwise all things were functional.
