It is close by the waterfront area. 3 minutes walk. It´s very safety. Good value for money. I can recommend it.

Das Hotel hat als ehemaliges Gefaengnis einen eigenen Charme. Es besteht aus mehreren Gebaeuden, bewachte Parkplaetze sind vorhanden. Die Zimmer sind zweigeteilt (Schlaf- und Wohnbereich), Toilette und Duschraum sind getrennt. Es gibt auch Gemeinschaftsbereiche (mit Sitzgelegenheiten, Kuehlschrank, Waschmaschine und Trockner). In einem Gebaeudetrakt […] sind in den unteren Etagen auch Raeume einer weiterfuehrenden Schule untergebracht (was nicht stoert). Das Fruehstueck wird in der Studentenkantine eingenommen - die Auswahl und Qualitaet ist gut. Ein Restaurant mit kleiner, aber guter Auswahl fuer das Abendessen ist vorhanden, ebenso ein Computerraum. Fuer die Preiskategorie absolut empfehlenswert. Mehr

Hotel ist sehr gut gelegen. Absolute Sicherheit auch Abends. Spazieren auch Nachts vom Hotel zur Waterfront ohne Probleme möglich. Guter Standard, Internetanschluss zu teuer, sollte in dieser Preiskategorie gratis sein. Kein Pool vorhanden, reines Stadthotel.

The hotel is at a very nice & convinent location .. with a frienly staff ... over all it was a well maintained hotel, though the service was a bit slow.

The hotel is a bit different in that it was formerly a jail. You can still see telltale signs like the metal stairways, but it saves taking a trip over to Robben Island. The room we had was a 2 bedroom with a bathroom in between the two rooms. The rooms are small but adequate. The hotel is located very close to all the waterfront attractions and is […] across the road from the Aquaruim and the City Sightseeing hop on hop off bus which is a great way to see the city if you don't want to rent a car. Rubbish under the bed, not clean

Great stay if you find a deal - otherwise the Commodore next door also includes breakfast for their similar regular-day rates. Rooms are quite beautiful and comfortable though on the smaller side. Very helpful front desk/concierge. No breakfast on site (though business school next door has a restaurant) and nothing is open before 8am nearby, so this […] could be a problem. Close to V & A waterfront this hotel in a converted jail is comfortable, stylish and just a few minutes stroll from the 450 shops and restaurants at the waterfront. As 2 women we felt safe at all times and with a wide range of restaurants the choice was superb. We were in room 2213 which overlooked the courtyard garden, was fairly quiet. There is a car parking charge which we werent aware of but as it was only £10 for 4 nights was not a problem, The only item the hotel lacks is a pool which would have been nice to relax by after a day sight seeing. Our stay in Brreakwater Lodge - former prison in Cape Town was very pleasant - close to V&A Waterfront. Hotel clean and comfortable, helpful and friendly staff.

Although the rooms are small they are clean and comfortable. Great when all you need is a safe and clean place to sleep. 5 minutes walk to Waterfront. Note that both Internet and parking should you bring a car is at extra charge.

Not necessarily a bad thing but it did not really feel like a hotel. The building itself is a bit run down but the room was fine. A short walk to Marina about 250m past the taxi rank.

Reasonably priced hotel near to all activities. Friendly service. Exceedingly clean. Room very modern and kept beautifully clean. Could not fault this hotel at all and would certainly recommend it to all our friends.

Very good location, next to the Victoria Waterfront, which is a nice and safe area with many restaurants, shops and activities. Intersting hotel building, which is an old prison re-builded as hotel. Efficient and friendly staff. Good breakfast.

The receptionnists never say "hello" ; it was not very clean ; I booked a family room via hotel.com but they gave me a standart room because they thought it was an error. So the 1st night we slept in a standart room... with 2 babies !

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel, the staff are very friendly, the location is one of the best and the value is great. Two more things to sum it up: very clean, very safe.

Wow! What a great location! You can walk here very safely. Great shops, hotels, food. Try the Harbor House for fabulous seafood. Citytours bus line just across the street.

Protea breakwater lodge is perfectly located, recently renovated, aesthetically pleasing, altogether clean and comfortable, and very well managed by a warm and knowledgeable staff. This is an interesting hotel, being a former prison. It is basic, but clean and comfortable, but best of all is very convenient for the V&A waterfront.

The hotel was ideally situated being just across the road from the tourists bus office and bus stop. So good for first time visitors to Cape Town. The waterfront was an easy walk away and it was possible to catch a city bus from a nearby bus stop to take you into the main city centre. It is overall good value for money. only negative points is that there were very strong smoke smell in the room where the management was failing to impose the non-smoking restriction. In addition, it is more noisy than the average hotel.

Basic but decent with helpful staff. Near to V&A waterfront.

It used to be a prison, and it still feels a little like one... or, to be more accurate, like a decent college dorm. The rooms are quite unadorned, but everything is clean and functional. A very good 2** hotel that would dfinitely 3***. The location is perfect: very close to the V&A Waterfront with all its restaurants, bars, shopping malls and entertainment. Just a 5 minute walk to the hotel! Security (always a matter in South Africa!!): very high due to the location... I hope it will be the same after the World Cup! This hotel is very simple but pretty clean. the rooms are small. The location is great, just 2 minutes from the stadium and to the shopping mall.

If you want to be close to the V &A Waterfront but cannot afford the V&A prices this is a good budget option. The rooms are that of a budget hotel but they are clean and comfortable and you are a 5 min walk from the waterfront. We stayed here 3 nights. Driving in South Africa is easy and the route to the hotel was straightforward. The only problem I […] had was when i tried to contact the hotel directly prior to visit regarding parking I got no reply. and as it is a private car park that you pay for I would have liked to has had it booked in before we went. Trata-se de um hotel muito bem localizado e perto do V&A Waterfront onde há lojas e restaurantes. Além do Hotel estar próximo à partida dos ônibus do City Tour. Recomendo aos que foram contratarem um "shuttle" do aeroporto ao hotel, já que o numero de taxis lá é escasso. Excelente custo x benefício !

Et meget flott hotell med sentral beliggenhet ,kort vei til stort sett alle severdigheter. Litt små rom,men service og rengjøring er helt på topp.Kommer gjerne igjen og kan anbefale det videre

Ligger helt toppers til at det har vært et fengsel før og blitt gjort om gjør det mere spennende , meget sentralt og trygt . Bodde der alene som jente :) :)

Breakwater lodge ligt tegenover V&A waterfront. Dat is de reden dat wij het gekozen hadden. Je kunt lopen naar de overkant. Het hotel wordt gerenoveerd en dat is nodig want ondanks dat de kamers schoon en netjes zijn zijn de badkamers abnormaal klein. Ook is het jammer dat je niet buiten kunt zitten. Het is een ideaal hotel om te slapen en als uitvalsbasis […] te gebruiken om Kaapstad en omgeving te zien. Als je tijd in het hotel wilt doorbrengen zou ik dit hotel niet aanraden. Mehr

場所はV&A Waterfront に隣接し、歩いて何度も食事や買い物に行きました。警備員も常駐し、白を基調とした、とても綺麗なホテルです。３泊しましたが、窓からはテーブルマウンテンが見え、快適に過ごせました。

Billigt hotel på den helt rigtige beliggenhed ved Water Front og Hop on/hop off-busstop. Værelser meget små, men da det er et gammelt fængsel, kan man ikke forvente mere.

Conveniently located near the Waterfront district. Nice with separate shower and toilet rooms, each with a sink. Also nice with separate bedroom and office (with sofa). The only thing annoying us was the noisy early birds (seagulls) on the roof (mid July).
