The hotel was conveniently located to just about everything we wanted to do. Street car was right out front, walk to wwIi museum.. Staff was pleasant and helpful got us early check in and even phoned to let us know when room was ready. However, when you walk into to the lobby, there is a distinct smell of mold, mildew, mixed with wet dog... It was an […] assault to the nose every time you walk into the lobby. The other issue would be the bed.. While the room was clean and well appointed, the bed was overly soft and uncomfortable to sleep in. Not good on the back. Mehr

Overall we were satisfied but there were things that could use improvement. The staff was friendly. The room was nice and clean. The bed could have been a little more comfortable and the sheets were just above standard quality. We requested a pack and play crib for our child when we checked in and stayed in the room for about 3 hours before we left […] for dinner. I called to see if it had been delivered as we were on our way back and she was asleep. They said it had not been delivered, but it will be there when we get in. Luckily it was. We noticed some articles of trash and smashed crackers in our hallway in front of the elevators on Friday when we checked in and it was still there when we checked out on Sunday. Our television had very limited channels and the remote buttons were a pain in the rear to use. Our key cards lost their magnetism twice and had to go downstairs to recharge them. Keeping the card next to your cell phone or with other credit cards will apparently erase them. So it's just another seperate item you have to keep track of. Valet is helpful if you have a small child. Its $29 per night, if you are traveling light, it's $22 across the street. Everything else was nice but we just expected a little more from a name like Hilton. Mehr

It was absolutely amazing. The room was just right. well organize and impeccably clean, specially the bed. My wife absolutely loved it. Thanks.

Great hotel in a lovely old masonic building. Staff were very courteous and it's located in a slightly quieter area only a short walk from Bourbon St. Great happy hour deals on drinks and oysters in the restaurant next door.

My room was pretty run down: torn wallpaper, a shower head that came out of the wall, non-smoking room that reaked of smoke, windows the size of portholes, shoe prints on the bathroom floor, leaky bathroom sink. Luckily I don't care much as long as I have a safe place to sleep. The worst part is this. I did a thurough check for bedbugs and didn't find […] any signs. but now that I'm home, signs are showing up. We've narrowed down the possibilities and all we can come up with is that I picked them up from the hotel. I can't prove it, of course. But I can say that I won't be staying there again, even without bedbugs it didn't live up to what I'd expect from a Hilton property. Mehr

We received an unsolicitated upgrade to a suite which was a pleasant surprise. The room was beautiful & comfortable. The hotel location was great as it was within walking distance to most of the sites we wanted to see. Also, the trolley was conveniently at the corner. All in all a wonderful first expericence to New Orleans. Thank you

Staff was great, location fantastic, LUKE the bar and restaurant attached was real good, check it out! Only small item was very cramped room, but it was very nice. Will stay here again for sure!!

Being a "germaphobe" the thought of staying in a hotel gives me the creeps. The cleanliness of the room had me at ease I actually slept under the covers and on the pillows which were soft like marshmallows :) the staff was very friendly and knowledgable about EVERYTHING in the area. I would defiantly stay here again and again

My wife and I stayed 5 nights. Rooms here very, very small. Most important, customer service was surprisingly lacking for such a respected brand. Can provide numerous examples but most memorable was no hot water on Sunday, February 26th. When we called the desk, we were snapped at with "our engineer just fixed it, the hot water will be there shortly." […] We waited another 90 minutes and gave up. No apology. No courtesy. Our stay was great. The room had everything we needed and the bed was extremely comfortable. All of the staff were helpful to us. We would definitely stay here again.

Hotel was clean and very conveniently located. Hotel staff was very friendly. The restaurant downstairs is excellent. The fitness room is really nice.

We stayed here for a convention so wish it was closer, but the walk there wasn't bad since the weather was nice. Desk staff very nice, professional. Hotel lobby, room etc. was very nice and upscale - comfy beds, decent size bathroom, etc. We only stayed one night so didn't check out the other amenities, but overall very pleased, would stay again.

I stayed here and the first morning I woke up, there was a room service tray outside my door from my neighbor. When I returned at 11pm that night, the tray had been moved to be in front of my room. I called the front desk and asked to have it taken away and they said they were sending someone right up. When I woke in the morning, there was a cockroach […] in my room (17th floor). And sure enough, when I opened my door, the food tray was still sitting outside my door (for over 24 hours). GROSS! The food in the restaurant is very delicious. :) Mehr

The St. Charles Hilton is a wonderful place to stay in New Orleans. Just a couple of blocks from the French Quarter, it's close enough to walk to any downtown destination but out of the loud 3am crowds. The hotel building is an early century historic building originally built by the Masons, with a number of Masonic lodges restored to their original […] appearance hidden away inside the structure. If you step 50 yds away from the entrance, you'll notice the Masonic symbols built into the facade. Mehr

The hotel was nice check in was easy. We did not spend a whole lot of time in the room, but the other reviews are correct regarding small rooms. It is nicely located in the cbd on the street car line and a couple block to the french quarter. Only a couple of issues, you could hear any door slam or hallway noise, so it could be a problem if you are a […] light sleeper. My main issue is that the pool was under maintenance the whole time. The main reason I picked this hotel is the indoor pool. We were not informed of it at check in or any other time. We found out when we went to the pool and it was closed. Mehr

Our family was greeted with friendly smiles from the front door to our rooms. Our joining rooms were beautiful and huge. The design was everything I had expected of the French Quarters. The proximity to Bourbon Street and other attractions was very convenient. Thank You! We loved our stay. We can't wait to come back and stay longer.

VERY courteous staff. One or two bellhops open the door(s) every time you walk in or out of the hotel. Clean rooms and lobby. Fifty cent oysters on the half shell every day from 3-6pm, at the Luke's restaurant off the lobby, is a real treat. You can hop on the St. Charles streetcar only a block away. Only 4 blocks down St. Charles Ave. to Canal St. […] and the start of the French Quarter. Print airplane boarding passes in the lobby for free. Don't look for a view out the windows below the 10th floor, though. Seems to be surrounded by taller buildings. So get out and enjoy New Orleans!!! Mehr

We enjoyed our recent stay. The location was great for us as we wanted to stay away from the chaos on Bourbon St but could easily take a short walk to enjoy all the action. The hotel was conveniently located near the St Charles Trolly as well. Although the stay started rough the staff was understanding and quickly met all of our needs. We booked online […] and must have checked smoking room by accident. Although the hotel was nearly full they were able to get us in a non-smoking room. We enjoyed the stay and would stay again. Mehr

We had an excellent experience with the Hilton - the staff was extremely courteous, our room was clean and comfortable and the location was great. We especially enjoyed Luke restaurant next door. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights for the Saints vs. Falcons game. The location was perfect for walking to the Superdome and not too far from the French […] Quarter, where we spent most of our time. This hotel was a great value and had everything that we wanted. Has been updated and it works just fine, except for the windows which were absolutely filthy, even though a glass window panel had been added to the inside to essentially keep the old windows seperate from the room itself. I booked this hotel directly with a Hotels.com agent who was very pleasant and extremly accomodating. We choose this hotel and city to celebrate my husbands birthday, I requested a higher level room and was booked on the eight floor, confirmed by the agent. Upon arrival that evening I was given a room on the second floor. I explained that I had a confirmation […] for the eight floor but the desk agent said the hotel was booked so I had no choice but to except the room. Arriving in the room I was very pleased with the size, furnishings, decor, etc that the Hilton group is known for. The following morning I knew why my room had been changed. The room was directly on the streetcar line that stopped there every hour on the hour so sleeping thru the night was impossible. The rate I paid was far less than the Hilton advertised rates so I was relegated to one of the worst room they had so their "higher" paying guest had the better rooms. I realize this is not a Hotels.com issue but its disapointing to travel 6 hours for a special occasion weekend and not be able to enjoy it. Mehr

Great staff & location just off Canal street. Very convenient to Bourbon street & not far from the RiverWalk. Would have been all 5's but we only had hot & hotter water in our room.. no cold.. no big deal :)

Do not stay here if you need to use the internet. No wireless in room, and the ethernet cable connects at 1-3 K bps!!!....(10 minutes to open my home page) That's slower than the slowest dial up back in the 90's. The charge is $12.99 per day for this! I called the service line for help and they said they'd get right on it and see if they could improve...but […] 3 days later it was still the same. Even if you're only going to NO for the fun, it's nice to use the net to search for places and directions. Mehr

This hotel is worth a second stay. Room was small but clean. Valet parking crew was heavily staffed which made it the best in town, (I stay in New Orleans quite often). 2 different times, I needed something out of my car and they were happy to bring it around. It was cold outside and they were waiting with a smile. Luke's, the hotel restaurant was so […] good, we went there breakfast, and happy hour each of our 3 days in town. Awesome raw oysters. Everyone in the lobby had sweet manners and represented the big easy well. Negative: Our TV only caught 10 channels. The 18th floor has a beautiful rooftop deck. The room is nice but expensive. The hotel is old and the water get cold quickly which was not pleasant. The elevator going down to the pool is dirty. The pool room is messy, wet and smelly. Pool water is very cold.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights and had an overall excellent stay. We upgraded to the Executive Level and had free breakfast and coffee, plus free bottled water and pop all day long. Hotel is in a very convenient location, an easy walk to just about everywhere. We will stay again when we visit again.

Had to wait almost an hour for extra towels. Water was cold in the shower more than half the time. Expensive valet $29 per day. They ran the vacuum Sunday morning and woke us up. Expensive food in restaurant and the restaurant was FREEZING!

Location somewhat convient to Superdome, downtown. It has been undergoing rennovations. Had problems with its air conditioning recently. Room clean, comfortable. Pool/spa and stairwells dirty.

Spacious rooms, comfy beds, and excellent service. We stayed here two nights and on the last night.stayed at the marriott on canal, and we wished we would have stayed here the entire trip. Everything was wonderful! My only concern was the elevators...they are old and I was a little scared of getting stuck when the doors took awhile to open. Great location, […] we walked to bourbon street and the french quarter which was within a few minutes from the hotel. I recommend having the valet take your car. It is worth the extra cash not to have to deal with parking in NOLA. I will definitely stay here the next time I come to New Orleans. Mehr

I don't normally do reviews but I have to this time. This hotel was wonderful. We felt welcomed each and every day of our 5 day stay. People wanted to do their job and went out of their way to help us! We had great service. The location was great and I could easily walk to all the must sees: French Market, the Aquarium, the Mississippi River and paddle […] boats, Cafe Du Monde, Canal street was only three blocks away. The street car ran down our street and was easy to catch to Lafayette Cemetary and the Zoo. Mehr

The air conditioning was out all over the hotel during our stay. When we called about our hot (78 degree) room, we were told an engineer would be right up. After 3 calls and 2 hours, we gave up and slept the best we could. When we complained the nextmorning the clerk didn't even look up, muttered an apology, and asked us how we wanted to pay for our […] parking. We will certainly not visit that place again! Mehr

I recently spent six nights at the Hilton New Orleans on St. Charles Avenue. The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance of Bourbon, Decatur, Frenchmen and Magazine Streets, but just far enough away from party hotspots to afford guests plenty of peace and quiet. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating, and all the hotel's facilities […] (pool, hot tub, fitness room, etc.) were well maintained. In addition, out of all the hotels I looked into booking, the Hilton offered the best rates. All around positive experience. Mehr

Very good business hotel. Well located in business district (10 min walk to convention centre) and five minutes to Bourbon Street. Staff were friendly. Had an issue with breakfast one morning in that it was late (for three of us) and cold on arrival. However, when we informed them they apologised and did not charge us. I would definitely stay there […] again. Mehr
