Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen. Sehr zentral. Sauber. Prima Frühstück. Haben die Zeit dort genossen. Wir sind ein paar im Alter von Anfang 30.

Das mir zugeteilte Zimmer war bei einchecken um 17.30 Uhr nicht bereit. Trotz "Rauchfreier Zone" stank es nach abgestandenem Rauch im Zimmer. Konnte dann eine anderes Zimmer beziehen. "Aussicht" in den Hinterhof direkt Sicht an/in andere Wohnungen. Auch bei geschlossenen Fenstern grosser Lärm von Klimageräten und Anderem. Frühstück reichhaltig. Wifi […] nicht überall im Haus empfangbar. Insgesamt Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis nicht angemessen. Mehr

After reading what others had written were not expecting much besides a great location and were very happily surprised. The location is what we payed for but we got also the friendliest staff we have ever experienced.We have traveled all over the world and stayed in much nicer hotels,but never in any with staff that went out of their way to be helpful. […] From the doormen, to the registration staff, to the food servers to the security, everyone had smiles and answered any questions or needs we might have. We spent 8 days in May 2013 at this WONDERFUL hotel. The first thing that impressed us was how clean the hotel was. Our room was spotless and newly updated. It was also bigger than we had been led to believe, a nice bonus. The real treat, though, was the staff. Although we travel a lot, we did not know one word of Portuguese. The staff was super friendly […] and helped us every single day: they allowed us to check in early and check out late, they helped us find a bank, set up tours for us, recommended restaurants, gave us excellent instructions for using the bus system (easier than we thought with their help!), set up transport to the airport and were always very friendly IN ENGLISH! We talked to them every day. The breakfast consisted of a fruit bar with 12 different kinds of tropical fruits, all fresh, and then several breads, cheese and scrambled eggs. Between the staff and the breakfast, this was a super value for the money. We did pay extra for the ocean view, so worth it. You can see futbol and volleyball fields right from the window and there were lazy mornings where we just sat by the window instead of going down to the beach right away. One drawback: The hotel is right on the beach and Av. Atlantica, the street that runs between the beach and hotel is very, very loud. I imagine this is a problem of any beach front hotel in Copacabana. Mehr

The unfriendly staff and the dirty room do not deserv the amount that they are ask for. We have booked a transfer to the airport through the hotel. The driver was unprofessional and unfrendly and he has been talking on his phone from the hotel to the airport and he was driving very fast! We have told home to drive slowly and not to talk on the phone […] while he drive but he just ignore and he was very agressive!! All in all our experience with Olinda hotel was very bad!! Mehr

Wonderful to open the Olinda Hotel room shades in the morning to look out at gorgeous, expansive, sandy Copacabana Beach and the magnificent blue ocean. A perfect way to begin the day. As I write this, I in the cold North remembering yesterday's snow storm and dreaming of returning to the paradise of Copacabana Beach and the Olinda Hotel.

This hotel is starting to get a little bit old. But you can not ask for a better location if you wan't to stay at Copacabana. The staff was friendly and helpfull. Good wifi coverage and it is free of charge. Large breakfast buffet included in the room rate. Excellent water pressure in the room. My stay was comfortable. I was in one of the rear rooms facing away from the beach (great for a good night's sleep). The room was one of the smallest rooms I've ever stayed in. Disappointed in condition of room. Decor was "tired" and needed updating. Carpet stained. Room lacked color and freshness. View was great, and location very good, but room though large, was not appealing.

Great hotel. Rooms were very clean and the staff was very helpful. We had a fabulous view of the Copacabana Beach from our room. Felt very safe walking around late at night. Great breakfast included in the price. The only annoying thing about the hotel is that the internet went down once in a while. I would recommend this hotel.

I was surprised as how good value for money this hotel was .Hotels by the beach are a gem and you pay for location in Rio,.Staff was hyper helpful allowing us in before checking time and giving us late check out.,The hotel is still in the process of refurbishment but the ongoing decoration of the lobby did not interfere. It is a very traditional hotel […] ,therefore ,not for those looking for sleek modern .Breakfast is copious and the variety is unlimited. I will definitely stay there again and recommend it. Mehr

This is my second time staying at this hotel. My first stay was exactly 2 years ago when the hotel was under different management. The change in management has not inproved the hotel. The good things about the hotel first - The location is excellent. Centrally located on Avenida Atlantica midway along the Copacabana beach - very convenient to everything […] and easy to get a taxi to other parts of Rio. The ocean view from the room is great! The hotel has good bones - nice classic architectural details - spacious lobby with ample seating for leisurely relaxation outside of the room. The not so good things - The hotel is showing wear and there is no indication that anything is being done about it. There is an unsightly section of the lobby that is draped in a plastic construction cover - who knows what's behind that. The room itself was spacious enough, but the horribly stained carpet, worn drapes, and unattractive bedding made it feel like a cheap motel room. Simple changes to the carpet, drapes, and bedding would make a huge difference. The bathroon is a very nice size although it could use some updating. I would love to stay at this hotel again, but I will look for other oprtions on my next visit unkes, there are some updates. The cost is too high for the property condition. Also the restaurant food quality could stand improvement. The steak I ordered for dinner my first night was the worst cut of meat I've ever had. I hope the hotel turms all of this around. Mehr

This is a gem of a hotel, right in the middle of Copacabana. The breakfast is simply awesome and the hotel staff are very attentive and friendly. Room was a bit small, but serviceable and fit in with the whole 1960's ambience. As if you might bump into Sean Connery or Peter O'Toole sitting in the bar, making small talk while scoping out the high-roller […] bad-guy sitting on the other side of the bar murmuring to his minions with a Bond Girl at his side.. Cost/benefit is absurd, rooms and bathroom are so small you can't walk around the bed. For the cost of this hotel you should definitely try Ipanema hoteles better

Really liked the Olinda. Perfect condition at Copacabana, feels safe around the area. Ipanema is a nicer area but its convenient enough. The staff were helpful, good English. The breakfast was great. Its worth paying the extra money for a sea-view room. Beds v comfortable and clean. A couple of gripes: leaking ceiling on last day - not sure what that […] was about.... also, when we checked in initially there was a bikini hanging in bathroom from previous guest (but the place was clean - housekeeping just neglected to remove this item!). finally, the staff at the olinda arranged an airport transfer (international airport) for one rate but didnt tell us they have a cheaper option for half of that price if you go by minivan with multiple pick ups, which a different staff member told us about the next day. We were happy to pay the higher rate but just wondered why we were not given both options... Nevertheless, I am happy with this hotel and would recommend. A sense of humour required for some of the hiccups! Perfect for price and location. Mehr

The location was good, room was nice, staff helpfull and spoke good english. The bartender in the lobby bar was very serviceminded and really put an effort in when mixing drinks, with excellent results. Good place to stay.

We had a wonderful 10 nights at Olinda Rio. No complaints. The hotel staff is very friendly and they spoke good english. The rooms were clean and the location can't be beat. It's right in the middle of Copacabana. I highly recommend this hotel, you will not be disappointed.

Staff was amazingly helpful with all issues, reminiscent of top hotels. Location was very central in the Copacabana district and directly across from the beach. Breakfast spread was the best I had in Brazil. Only issues were the hotel is rather 'dated' - one wall of my bathroom and one wall of the shower appeared to be particle board or something and […] basically put there as a temporary measure. Also the elevator was basically broken (kept stopping on the 6th floor and not moving). And my room was rather small...outside of the double bed there was very little space, it felt very 'European' in that regard (laughably small desk setup, and had to nudge bed aside to be able to open the closet door). I guess the rate was fair in comparison to the other options in the area, but that was only after I had gotten an early booking discount on Expedia. Mehr

Nice "local" hotel, with a very good location (on the Copacabana beach), very tasty breakfast buffet (included in our rate), and a variety of city tours available for purchase. Nothing fancy, but all the basics were well met (we stayed at a see-view room). No need for a car, but if you rent one, you can park in front of the hotel for 2 Reals per day. […] Shuttles back to the international airport are 20 Reals per person (you can also get a taxi for about 40 Reals). At the airport they try charging you 100+ Reals (you can get one for about 50 Reals to Copacabana beach). Mehr

The hotel is well appointed, it does not have many amenities but is not expesive in comparison with other Rio hotels. It is right in the middle of Copacabana Beach, close to public transportation and different restaurant options. Very good breakfast included in the rate.

The standard room we had booked was a black hole. the only rooms that are OK are thoose in the front with a viewof the ocean. The beds are hard as bricks. and the rooms are relatively small. The staff were very nice and very helpful.

Good value and a very pleasant hotel. Food excellent and staff very friendly. rooms are a bit small, and can be on the dark side. Wireless is not that strong but overall a good choice if you don't want to pay Marriot prices. well situared on the beach with lots of amenities nearby

Olinda Rio surpassed every expectation. The hotel is in a great location, the staff is friendly, the breakfast was great, and the rooms were very clean! I would definitely come back to stay at Olinda Rio!

I've stayed in many hotels in Rio and this is definitely the best. It's not old and run-down like most of the other 4-start hotels, our room (ocean view) was funished with neutral colors, linens carpets and drapes were new and everything was very clean. The breakfast buffet was basic but adequate. Reception staff were very helpful! We arrived at 7am […] and checkin isnt until 3pm. Christine checked our bags (with a claim ticket, not just thrown in a corner so anyone could walk out with them) and let us use the bathroom / lounge to change in to our beach clothes. She even offered us beach towels. I'd recomment booking the shuttle to the airport at 75BRL (2 persons) as a taxi from Copacabana to Galeão/ GIG could cost between 60 and 150 BRL even if you are brasilian and not a tourist (ask me how i know!?!) If you can get a good price, I'd definitely recommend staying here, but get a room on a high floor if you dont want to be woken up at 5:30am from the traffic. We were on the 6th floor and could hear it loud and clear! Mehr

The hotel is working on making improvements, i will say that. However, our first day, our AC starting leaking. The AC is located in the ceiling next to one of the beds, not outside a window like most AC's usually are. We called the front desk 2x, with the promise a tech would come up to check it. We left our room, after we were told that they would […] fix it, and there already was a huge wet spot next to my bed. Between the wet carpet and the humidity, the smell was unbearable. And you couldn't open the window seeing as they are very old and if you did manage to open it, good luck trying to close it- very rusty. By the time we returned (approx 10pm) the AC was still leaking. Finally, after 2 more calls, the tech came up and had to use a bucket to remove all the water that was just sitting up there. Even more smelly. The hotel definitely needs a face lift. The breakfast was good and their front desk was helpful with questions we had. Only issue was the AC. The hotel is also about 5 blocks away from the train station, in case you decide to use public transportation. I wouldn't stay here if I had to again. Mehr

Two visits close together - second time got 'an upgrade' (not asked for# - Room had a seaview and a desk/two chairs/an armchair in addition to previous room. BUT twin beds instead of a king - tiny 1-person shower #could have got 4 people in previous one# with nowhere to run when water temperature changed dramatically, tiny wash basin area with room […] for only one #other half with make-up# at basin/mirror #previous could fit three#, Vented AC which had no discernable way of regulation #previous had old-fashioned blower and hand control#. Old fashioned #stiff# sash window to sea-view, I suppose, qualified the room as an upgrade. But given that it was a two minute walk across the road if we wanted to see the sea, and we were a couple wanting to do things together the furnishing was not appropriate. We were returning for just one night, having been 'up-country'. More than one night and I would have asked for a 'down-grade'. Total of 5 nights - breakfast standard but staff seemed to be working to 'a plan' rather than responding to needs - eg - taking half a platter of food away to be topped up, while passing a queue of people at an empty coffee urn. I suppose it was just different staff having certain responsibilities. Mehr

This hotel is right on the beach. The wifi was free and reached the beach area; which was good since the additional costs of sorrounding hotels were ~$20 a day, but bad since it was very slow during busy times (anything after 5pm-1am). The service was great (they let us check-in early and were very helpful when we had questions). The free breakfast […] was great, just a little crowded. The tv was a fairly new flat screen and the mini-fridge had a lot of space for my groceries. The only glaring drawback was a broken AC. Mehr
