This hotel gives the perfect setting for a trip to New Orleans. It is the true feeling of the city.

We were in town for a wedding and stayed at Le Richelieu, in the French Quarter, for 3 nights. It was quaint, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable (several times we asked for recommendations ex. where to get a good steak while listening to music, ice cream place open late), and the location was an easy walk to both day and night life. even though […] parts of the French Quarter can be loud late into the night, this hotel was on a cute, quiet, street, in between 2 active areas, so we could easily fall asleep when we were ready but quickly get to the bars and restaurants on wither side when needed. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable(and clean!). Mini fridge in the closet, security guard on premises at all times, and I would stay here again. Recommended! Mehr

My husband and I stayed seven days at Le Richelieu and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The staff was very friendly and helpful. While the bathrooms could use some updating, it did not distract from our stay. Our room was very comfortable and the location so close to the French Market and Jackson Square was definitely a plus. We've stay here before and were quite pleased; so this time we opted for a suite. Upon arrival, the a/c in the sitting room didn't work, there was no balcony, coffee maker or microwave. Each call with room service was a guessing game as to whether the order was understood. The lobby and bar area are lovely. My daughter and I had a good time, even in the rain. We look forward to our next visit and would stay here again.

Clean, safe hotel. Nice with a small pool and breakfast area. Very quiet end of the quarter which is great. Cheaper parking than most places, very convenient.

Great location, clean and quiet, which is not easy to find quiet centrally located in the French quarter. Only problem was the mattresses were WAY too old and need to be replaced. If you have a sensitive back pick somewhere else.

This was a pretty nice hotel in the French Quarter. Although it was at one edge of the Quarter it was within easy walking distance of the French Market, Frenchmen Street, a lot of good restaurants and sites. We stayed here primarily because we had a rental car and needed parking. I somehow missed any notice of there being a charge for parking ($20 a […] day) before we checked in. But the lot was easy to access from in the hotel and secure. Our room was very comfortable, the shower really powerful. The hotel had a small restaurant and room service, but no breakfast was included and the prices for food were high like everything int he French Quarter. I would have given it more stars if there had been at least coffee in the lobby. The desk personnel were helpful and printed my boarding passes on departure. I got a good rate on hotels.com - better than on the hotel's own website. Mehr

I have stayed here sevral times and like the hotel, but carpet etc may need some updating. It was a good experience agion though overall and I recommedn this hotel for a real feel of the French Quarter that you cannot get with a chain.

This is the second time I have stayed at the hotel. Always clean and convenient. They now have a gated lot, which is nice for safety of the car. Only downside to the hotel is VERY slow internet

We were greeted by the owner, but did not know then this friendly octogenarian was owner for 40 years. I talked with him several times and he had nothing but praise for his staff who were terrific esp. Molly and Dee at the desk. Plusses were convenience to great restaurants, parking, quiet, close to Frenchmen St. and the market, very spacious, nice […] balcony, and great staff. Minuses were it was cold and no heat, but they gave us a heater that worked great. Wifi for Apples didn't work in the room...only lobby. All else great! Mehr

Overall I was satisfied with the Le Richelieu. The proximity to Frenchmen Street was great, a little further to Bourbon, but we didn't mind as that is not where we spent most of our time. The crowd there is older, but again, we didn't mind (we are in our 30's - by older I mean 60+) as we are there to sleep, and it made for quiet conditions. The staff […] could have been a bit friendlier, but they were ok. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were awful. The bar drinks were spendy but strong. All in all, I would stay there again. Full of charm and situated on the edge of the French Quarter, we enjoyed the ambiance. The rooms themselves were 60's remodel, disappointing. Our family had 4 rooms. Heat was an issue; some rooms too cool and and others too warm. Not able to control temperatures. In need of a redo. Staff couldn't be more helpful or friendly. I have stayed at Le Richelieu at least three times when I have visited New Orleans. The location cannot be beat. At the far end of Chartres Street, near Esplanade, it is close to the French Market & the Flea Market. You can also catch the Riverwalk Streetcar less than two blocks away. It is a bit of a walk to the more rowdy end of Bourbon, but at the […] end of a long day, you will be glad to be away from the noise of Bourbon and Decatur Streets. The hotel itself is older but in decent condition. The service and hospitality of the hotel staff (and I mean everyone who works there) is supreme. Because you are asked to leave your key with the Front Desk when you leave out each time, there is sometimes a slight wait to get your key back (they use real keys, not credit card style). The only problem I had is the HVAC unit; it is old and somewhat difficult to work with. Luckily, the window opens up via handcrank and makes for a nice breeze into the room. The bathroom is ok, nothing spectacular, but functional. I would definitely recommend this hotel for families and guests who are in town for a romantic getaway. It's nice to be away from the noisiness of the city while being close to everything. Mehr

This is the 2nd time I have stayed here and we were not dissappointed. Excellent Staff very helpful and friendly. Rooms are roomy and compared to other places in NOLA we've stayed the bathrooms are nice and roomy too. Quiet and no road noise. The location is a little far from all the action on Bourbon, but if you don't mind the walk it isn't that bad. […] Located close to Esplanade. Had security and felt safe. Gated parking. The Hotel Richelieu is in the best part of the French Quarter-quiet, close to all of the good local bars and restaurants including those in the neighboring Marginy area, notably Frenchman street, which is a must visit if you like a qreat selection of beer (dba specifically on Frenchman). Aldofo's (Aldopho's?) on Frenchman also excellent, especially […] a very memorable rack of lamb. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat! Mehr

I don't understand why this hotel gets so many good reviews..it is located in a good spot in the French Quarter and there is a certain old world quality about it that is kind of charming, but it needs some serious upgrading...they gave me a tacky room overlooking a dirty parking lot ...although it had been cleaned, the room still felt dirty and the […] chair fabric felt sticky and stained...the decor was atrocious... on a Friday night, a loud party in the room next to mine awoke me at midnight, moved on elsewhere, then returned and awoke me again at 3:30 A.M....the hotel staff did agree to move me to another room the next day, but not without making me feel in the wrong for complaining... the room I was moved to was much nicer and overlooked the pool and courtyard...make sure you ask for this if you are going to stay there Mehr

Great little hotel away from the noise of Bourbon but still in the Quarter.

When it is cold outside the heaters do not turn off and the A/C will not go on. I had to change rooms because the Ac wouldnot go on and the temp. in the room went from 93 to 98 before they came and turned off the heat. But ac would not come on. They gave me a room where I could open the windo which solved the problem

Le Richelieu is one of the very few French Quarter hotels that has its own on-site parking lot. Unfortunately, that convenience now comes with a price. Up until earlier this year parking was complimentary; now it has a $20 charge attached. However, if you've ever tried to find on-street parking in the FQ, you'll agree its well-spent! I love everything […] about this hotel and try to stay here as often as I can when making NOLA trips. The front desk staff is ALWAYS helpful. Quaint on-site restaurant & bar and cozy pool help make Le Richelieu a favorite of mine. Mehr

We were looking for a 'boutique' hotel with a New Orleans feel and a good location. Le Richelieu fit perfectly. It's not new or luxurious but very well maintained and the service couldn't have been better. We walked a couple of blocks in one direction and listened to jazz on Frenchman St, in another for a stroll on the riverwalk and coffee at Cafe du […] Monde and in another to walk to Jackson Square while being just far enough from Bourbon Street to still be quiet. Hotel seems to do what they can with a low budget. Its an old hotel in need of remodeling. Odd smells and rickety appliances make it less than comfortable. Would be OK, if it we less expensive. For the price, I would stay somewhere else.

Fantastic location, great service, older rooms but clean and functional at a great price. Would defintely recommend.

All the reviews were correct. Great hotel at great rates in the best possible location. The pool is officially open till midnight, but if you agree not to make a noise the staff turn a blind eye and you can swim till the early hours of the morning which is what we did on our last night. Although breakfast is not included, the poolside cafe is fantastic. […] The bar seems to be open most of the day too- all at very reasonable rates. Rooms were spacious, most with balconies. Our stay was exceptional. The room was a bit small and dated but the service, location and atmosphere far out weighted the room limitations.

Quit hotel in French quarter. ( except for loud group down the hall) not hotels fault. Staff very friendly The have real keys for the room Imagine that. Not much in the way of food at hotel. Ask for a coffee maker and bring your own. If you want a quit clean friendly hotel, you will not be disappointed. I will be back.

Nice hotel, Quite street, liked the design of the lobby and swimming pool. The room were very cold, the only way to control the AC was to ask the front desk to close it. The AC unit was full of “grey” stuff..maybe mold.. The front desk was very nice and informative. Over all the location was good, the hotel unique(not all in the good way) , The condition […] of the hotel wasn’t good but the staff was Very nice. Not sure that I’ll come again. Mehr
