Fun pool area for kids with a water slide. Nice game room. Friendly staff. Close to many restaurants and shops. Good breakfast
"Great stay"
The hotel was exactly what we were looking for, affordable, convenient, and relaxing. Our 2 year old and friends' 3 year olds loved the the kiddie pool and water slides. They talked about the pool non-stop for the next week. Would highly recommend for a weekend away with small children.

Very clean and comfortable. The complementary breakfast was very good and diverse. The personnel was very helpful and polite. I would highly recommend this hotel to my friends.

My wife and I stayed one night and the hotel was well maintained, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good and we appreciated the hot meal option. This is a nice hotel.

"Could be cleaner"
The bathroom was obviously not as clean as it could be, with hair in the shower (not mine) and an execessively dusty exhaust fan. Other than that (clean is a big deal to me), I had no complaints about the hotel. The area is very nice, and the staff are friendly.

"our stay at country inn & suites by carlson galena"
overall, my wife and i were extremely satisfied with our stay overnight on wed., sep 28th, 2011. the room was very comfortable and the breakfast choices were outstanding. the only thing we found annoying was the constant drone of the heater/airconditioner in the hallway outside our room at the end of the hall.

"Comfort Inn & Suites Galena, IL"
Nice hotel. The adult waterslide was really fun. The pool was clean and the water was warm. Really great breakfast! The only negative thing was that the king bed had a heavy quilt and a sheet. So at night you either froze with just a sheet or boiled with a sheet and a quilt.

i loved everything about our stay. nice to stay on the main level, not having to deal with elevators. great public restroom in the hallway, nice pool area, workout room and a breakfast with everything to choose from. phenomenal.

"On the edge of the valley"
Hotel has great location...close to all the historic sites and downtown for good eating. The rooms are large and comfortable. Breakfast was very enjoyable. It was a great stop for us and we can recommend it!

"we always stay here when we visit Galena"
This is the 4th time I have stayed at this hotel. The pool is great, the breakfast is wonderful, and the staff are very nice. Galena is known for its bed and breakfasts--but those aren't family friendly. This hotel is perfect for a family (or anyone else for that matter who is looking for a comfortable stay at an affordable price).

Really liked this hotel. Our room was very clean. And the pool was open til 11. The waffles in the morning was good too.
The service was great where the people at the desk were very friendly and helpful. The food at breakfast was excellent and the two girls working were nice. Our only concern was that the room was very warm and it was hard to get the temperature set at a comfortable level. We also enjoyed the pool and hot tub. We stayed at this hotel the last time we visited Galena and did so again knowing that it was close to main street and all the festivities. Also, the hotel is very nice and clean like the last time and reason we went back. The staff was very friendly too.

We stayed at this hotel while in town for a friend's wedding. About 5-10 minutes from downtown Galena, it was a very convenient location. We had looked into bed and breakfasts in Galena, but these were all over $200 for that Saturday! Country Inn & Suites was a more affordable option and clearly better than staying at the motel, but still very expensive. The […] room was beautiful, relaxing, and very comfortable. However, it could have used a fridge. The shower had great water pressure, but we noticed the hotel has soft water. Maybe this is the case throughout Galena? The best part of our stay was enjoying the pool, hot tub, and GIANT water slide in the morning. Fun for adults and kids!! it really gave the feeling of being on vacation. Mehr
"a surprise"
Hotel was fine, employees were very nice, but was very sad that there was no DVD player. In a town that closes early, would be nice to play/rent DVD's in room. Also sad- no refrigerator. Things I will be sure to look for when I book hotel next time.

Contrary to the listing online when I booked this hotel room, there were no smoking rooms available. As far as I can tell, all of hotels in the Galena Area are non-smoking.

I thought this was a great way to experience Galena in an affordable way. Since everyone goes for B&B stays up in this area we were having a hard time finding something affordable. The Country Inn and Suites was affordable, clean, only a five minute drive west of main street and the staff were all friendly. If you have kids the pool and water slide […] is a huge draw as is the Culver's across the street. The hotel is in a more commercial area [relatively speaking] and right next door to a mansion-turned-B&B and one property over from the Ramada Hotel & Day Spa. Among the three I would still pick Country Inn and Suites again! Fresh-baked cookies at the desk all day, a great breakfast buffet in the mornings (staff was telling us they are soon upgrading to a more extended menu with chafing dishes of sausage and scrambled eggs. Currently you have to microwave pre-cooked sausages and/or hard boiled eggs.) with the made-to-order waffle bar many others have mentioned and free WiFi were definite hits. Traveled with 10 & 14 yr olds boys, they loved the pool and slide! Front desk was very friendly. Hotel was nice and quiet at night. Cookies at check-in & we could borrow books from library in lobby. Breakfast was good, plenty to choose from & waffles were an added bonus! Would definitely stay here again.

"Outstanding for the money"
Very friendly staff. Pool area was excellent for adults and kids alike. Tasty waffles and strawberries for breakfast. Overall, it far exceeded our expectations. Two restaurants in walking distance.
