I loved the convenience of being within walking distance of the many restaurants on State Street and the capitol square. Because we knew it had two double beds per room, we booked the four of us into two rooms. We took advantage of the pool and hot tub. We did not eat in the restaurant, but there was a nice Sunday Brunch available in the dining room. […] My only complaint was that there appeared to be a wedding and people (and children) were making a lot of noise and running through the halls. Also, the doors have to be slammed VERY hard to get them to shut. So we heard them till 2 in the morning and they woke me up in the morning by 6 AM. Another couple in our party stayed on a different floor and had no problem. Mehr

There were extra charges for guests after the first, $10 per night per person. Parking was $13 per day. Internet was $10 per day. The restaurant is not inexpensive. All in all, there were too many surprise charges.

Although I pre paid the hotel I was billed again upon arrival and this was posted to my credit card. Not sure why I would have to pay a second time since this was guaranteed on my credit card. They called this insurance. This is the first time in all my 20 years of travel this has occured.

The room was nice and we had a view of Lake Monona. Location was steps away from the Square. Our only complaint was the level of noise on our floor. I stepped into the hall and asked the room next to us to keep it down. We were surprised that there wasn't a better level of sound proofing.

Took a family of four there over the weekend due to a company function at the Monona Terrace. With only options a king or two double beds, it would be nice if queen beds were available. Luckily, we were upgraded to a room with two double beds and a sleeper sofa, so we could spread out a little. Everything is nicely updated with upscale lobby, restaurant […] and lounge. We skipped the overpriced $17.95 Sunday brunch. Attentive staff was very accomodating and helpful. Not getting HHonors points because we booked through hotels.com was slightly annoying. Mehr

This is my favorite hotel to stay at in Madison, WI. The professional staff, location, and clean rooms makes this the perfect stay. On one side of the hotel you have a view of the state capitol and on the other side a great view of beautiful Lake Monona. Love it!

It was a bit overpriced. We had a great time, and the staff was great. We were even the randomly selected "Guests of the Day" which meant we some fun perks like free breakfast on the top floor, upgraded room and free parking. The staff was overly accommodating. There were always friendly and charming in a genuine way. I only say overpriced because without […] all those extras we would have been a little disappointed. The lobby, bar and restaurant were beautiful, but they definitely saved money on the rooms. Small, cheap carpeting and a pretty basic bathroom (our shower had such a cheap showerhead it was tweaked so it would on spray up and to the right. No amount of adjusting would fix that). We assumed it was an older hotel and were willing to overlook that stuff as "character and charm" but then someone mentioned that it was only built 10 years ago. So...no excuse. The location is perfect right down town, and walkable or short cab right to most major attraction. I'd definitely walk if the weather cooperates with your stay. Mehr

I couldn't believe the amount of additional charges this hotel had. $ for an extra person, $ for parking, $ for internet. The rooms were small. The beds were small. Not a comfortable room at all! Will not stay at this hotel again and ABSOLUTELY will not reccomend this hotel to others. I have paid less money for a a better hotel! Way too expensive for […] what you get. Mehr

I happened to win "guest of the day" ! It was a very nice surprise! Upgraded room,free parking and breakfast amongst other perks. The staff were all really nice. I will definitely stay here next time I'm in town.

Great location and clean. However, for the price, there are certainly very comparable hotels in Madison. That being said, the lake view was spectacular. It was a fun place to stay

My favorite hotel to stay at in Madison. Only gripe is that the parking garage is a tight squeeze with my truck, but it's nice to park indoors.

Great location, right on the Monona Terrace and 2blocks from the capital. However, even with the great location, I wouldn't stay there again. Musty smelling room, loud old a/c made sleep impossible, and the room was over stuffed with uncomfortable chairs that made it difficult to open the curtains. Restataunt not open Sunday.

The Hilton Madison is in a good location within walking distance to both State Street, local restaurants and the lake. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating with room, car and dining arrangements. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Awesome location! You can walk to all of your downtown destinations. We were in Madison to celebrate my husband's birthday. Our corner room with a king size bed was very nice. The morning breakfast was a delight as well. We will return!

A very pleasant surprise. Hotel is definitely has a newly updated decor thoughout the entire property. Very clean rooms and common areas. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. And they allow pets for those who are pet friendly. Even to the point where there is a list of pet names staying at the hotel next to a bowl of water and treats! I definite […] must stay place if visiting the Capital or your children at UW. And the rate was great!! Mehr

The staff are helpful, friendly and honest when asked the tough questions about the area. Loved the decor and comfort of the hotel on the lake. Easy walk to any site downtown. I would stay again!.

Beautiful hotel and a beautiful view from the Lake View rooms! The room was very spacious and the beds and linens were very soft and comfortable. The staff were all very polite and courteous! Even Housekeeping left a note thanking us for our stay, nice touch. The hotel was also very easy to find which is nice when you are in an unfamiliar place. It's […] within walking distance to The Majestic Theatre and other very nice restaurants and bars. I don't normally write reviews, but this place deserves it! I would definitely stay there again!! Every time I go to Madison I stay at this hotel, especially if you have a function at the Monona Terrace Convention center. It is connected and closest of all the hotels. Easy walk to great resturants and the Capitol. Madison is a fun town!! The Chop House which is connected to the hotel is a great place to eat and the bar in the hotel is first class […] with friendly service. Parking is easy or Valet if you want. You can take a walk along Lake Monona which is beautiful. Mehr

Stayed here for a wedding. Only in town for one day. Location is amazing. Walked to Capitol and nearby State Street. Room was in fine condition. What you would expect from a Hilton, if not nicer. But the view was amazing! Gave us a room with a view of the lake and Monona Terrace - I suspect because we booked on Hotels.com :) Very nice.

Great location and friendly, helpful staff. Would definitely stay here again.

It's also not as close to the University of Wisconsin as it leads you to believe.

I was very excited to prepay for my room through hotels.com and only have to worry about incendentals once I arrived. I had a few minimal items charged to my card (parking, dinner) and when I returned home my card had been swiped by the hotel staff for over $1100 in charges. After speaking with the hotel accontant and my bank assuring me that it would […] be fixed my end of day, I found out that I was charged for over $1100 AGAIN! I usually prefer to stay at Hilton Hotels but am definitely going to think twice before ever booking with one again. Plus Hilton has made no effort to apologize for this! Yesterday I was ok and calm about it, but now that I have even more money gone, I am furious! Mehr

Perfect location just off Capitol square attached to the Monona Terrace Convention Center on Lake Monona. Absolutely beautiful views. Standard Hilton quality.
