Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge - Lake Buena Vista

Das Hotel ist bis ins Detail ganz dem Motto. Die Savanne mit den Tieren ist wunderschön und auch die Poolanlage ist herrlich. Die verschiedenen Restaurants im Haus sind abwechslungsreich und für jeden Geldbeutel ist etwas dabei. Uns hat es super gefallen und es waren tolle Tage!

Every staff person was extremely customer service oriented

My stay at this hotel was amazing. I loved the hotel. I only stayed 2 nights and was so busy in the day that I wish I could have stayed longer to explore the hotel more. What I did experience there was great.

Enjoyed my stay....Wished I had scheduled more time at hotel instead of Disney World. My complant is that I was promised a king bed. I got a queen. It felt like more like a double. Incredible view with a variety of animals roaming out side of balcony.

A beautiful hotel in the heart of DisneyWorld but still a 20=30 minute bus ride from Magic Kingdom. We thought it was closer. We had 10 young children and it would have been nice if it had been closer to run back and forth. Wonderful Disney resort, very unique hotel stay...one of a kind. Great food; if you're tired of your standard amusement park foods, burgers, chicken nuggets, pizza, pasta...this place is for you the food was amazing (and they still have those other foods too) but a huge variety and great wines and drinks by the pool too. My only one regret is that we spent our time at the parks, and not enough time in at the AK Lodge. It is a great place to stay. My kids loved the pool and the animals. The Jambo House pool is the larger of the two and it never seemed crowded. Breakfast at Boma is the best buffet I have ever seen, anywhere. Greatest hotel for all ages. Kids had so much fun they didnt want to go to the parks.

We would highly recommend this hotel for families. Zebras & giraffes off our balcony - flamingos & great pool too. We ate at the breakfast Buffett three days in a row b/c the food was delicious & a bit different -yummy juice too. We ate one night at Jiko -fantastic food & service-5 star!!

This was a great hotel and experience! Staff was extremely friendly! We had a Savanna view room and woke up to zebras, griaffes, and many other animals every morning! Would stay there again! My 3 yr old absolutely loved it!

This was our first stay at a Disney hotel and we loved it! The staff was very friendly and welcoming...they made us feel at home!

Great to have enjoyed the whole experience. We booked one of the Arusha savannah, the room was comfortable with a great view of the savannah, but be warned these rooms are the furthest away from the hotel lobby, not good with lots of luggage! The only down side was our room requests weren’t able to be fulfilled, king sized bed and high floor room for […] the view of the animals. We were advised to request a high floor, for the view of the animals and savannah. Our room was on the second floor but I would add that after staying here I would say this is actually the best place to get as close to the animals as possible. A great themed hotel but very expensive, be prepared to pay a quite a bit on top of for a savannah view. The animals were great though, giraffe, zebra, gazelle, etc every time you went on the balcony you had a different view, saw loads of animals from our room but there are also plenty of public viewing areas in case you don’t have a savannah view. Great to stay at a Disney Resort hotel from animals, extra magic hours for the parks and free parking. A very unique experience, would definitely recommend trying it. Mehr

Pros: Typical Disney service - simple outstanding all around, though one does pay for it. Location - On the AK reservation, every morning we had animals within view from our terrace. Pool/Hot Tub. Cons: Room - Small size (just enough to fit the 2 queen beds) and ours had a dampness and musky odor the entire duration akin to wet towels. Food - Mediocre […] at best within the hotel. Location - Double-edged sword as the distance from the main hotels became an issue when one has to wait 30 minutes for bus service. At a Disney Resort you would expect the staff to be happy, friendly, informed and efficient. However, my experience was just the opposite. I spent approximately one hour in the evening just trying to get room service with no success. I was either hung up on or disconnected the two times I tried calling. When I called the front desk I was told that room […] service would call me back and I should just wait, but I never received a call from room service that evening. The next day, I went to the front desk to inform Disney of the problem I had with room service. Instead of apologizing, I encounter a very defensive and in my opinion rude staff member who did not want to hear any criticism for the lack of service offered at one of Disney's resorts. It appeared that the staff member was blaming me for not finding other dining options for my child which meant that I was suppose to drag my child out in the late evening. I guess she was never a mother or forgot she was working at Disney. When I told her that I did call the front desk and did not receive assistance in this matter, the staff member just snapped back at me stating that she did not see in the computer that I left a message for room service to call me and that when I call the hotel's front desk I am not actually calling the Disney's front desk, but some other location. In my opinion there was nothing magical about this Disney resort. Mehr

No hot water everyday for 5 days . Had to call each day for someone to go fix the problem . Bus transportation from Disney is poor at most hotels but , this is the worst . Boma Restaurant used to be perfect . Food quality has gone way down since their chef from a few years ago left . Used to eat here every night on previous stays . Management is helpful […] . We loved this hotel and would definitely stay there again! Expensive but definitely worth it. A very unique experience - saw lots of animals from our Savanah view room but there were plenty of public viewing areas also. Taking the shuttle to the park was so convenient. Beautiful surrondings, we saw many animal, the rooms were a litlle small, but the view outstanding...

In our three night stay, we never had our room cleaned or got a paper or anything.. We reported it and were told they were sorry, would clean good the second day but they never did a thing. Room was dirty, phone did not work. Very dissappointed.

so booked a trip to WDW and stayed at the contemporary hotel first 2 nights then animal kingdom the next 3. checked in around 7pm for the first hotel and they claimed to not have any king sized beds even after i went through multiple calls to the hotel directly and specifically requested a room with one. i can understand that maybe its due to disney […] being a kids destination and they are trying to cater to families with 3 or more in their party instead of a couple so i suppose thats fair. after some complaining i just sucked it up and asked for compensation and was given $75 in credit to use for food etc and was satisfied. heres where my real issue comes in. i leave the hotel 2 nights later and check in the animal kingdom lodge and guess what? TADA!!!!!!! NO KING BED AGAIN!!! at this point im very annoyed and was again given a credit of $75 but once again, after requesting and making it very clear i wanted a king size and not getting one, this was very very frustrating. if you dont care about this matter than this hotel is great. we woke up to zebras, giraffes, and some other small animals right outside our balcony in the savanna view room. kids would definitely love this and its a pretty amazing sight to watch these animals eat so close to your room. but once again, if you need a king bed, dont count on it......... The Arusha view room is absolutely beautiful. Worth every penny. The animals are unbelievably close. So so beautiful.

This hotel had everything - fabulous staff, great pool, beautiful grounds, and good food at the restaurants. Just be sure to reserve meals in advance!

Love all the disney stuff!!

The hotel is simbly over rated over celebrated. The Arusha rooms, or whatever they call it, are the furthest away from the hotel. I stayed there because of its reputation. They are nothing extra except fine advertising for the rooms far far away! They have zebras, giraffes, pigs and ducks. Nothing wow that deserves the extra money. Yes the kids will […] enjoy it, but they are out at the parks most of the time! Besides, what 4.5 stars hotel has its in-room dining close by mid-night! People are on vacation here and will be staying late. Kids may need to eat late! It is an OK hotel, but not as I expected. People going there, don;t have your hope high and above. Mehr

The hotel is lovely espically if you have a savannah view. One word of advice - if you are placed in room 2035 don't accept it. This room has no natural light due to a large overhanging portico, you cannot sit out on the balcony as everyone has to walk past to get to the bus and can see right into your room, you also get the noise from the pool pump […] late at night - we had to be moved and were so glad we were as we then got a savannah view. If you want to eat in the Boma resturant then do book or be prepared for a wait as it gets very busy - the food is good however and eat all you want. Very good pool area though it does get busy as you would expect. The african theme of the hotel is great and very well done and with all those magical Disney touchs. Mehr

We are a family of four with two older teens. Harry Potter at Universal was the destination (well worth it) so we trekked from Los Angeles to go to Hogwarts. Disney was our second stop. The Animal Kingdom hotel was under some renovation - never a pretty sight but generally very nice. The lobby is a bit over-Disney with animal themed "artifacts" and […] such. It is a VERY kid oriented hotel with lots of small children coloring and involved in activities so if that is what you need - you will be in t right place. The room is fine but you are paying for the view - yes, real live giraffes (more than one) outside your window. I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it myself. And zebras and other wild animals I can't identify. Truly amazing! The room itself is average - beds were comfy, bathroom adequate but nothing to write home about. The staff was all very disney friendly - many seemed brand new and had trouble directing us places in this HUGE hotel. The pool was ridiculously warm but very large and nice. No deep end (like I said - very little kid friendly). It was waaaay too hot in August to actually enjoy anything outside but I imagine in February it would be nice to relax at the pool and jacuzzi. Our only real gripe was the food. We're not interested in the "fine dining" and the overpriced buffet didn't appeal to us either. We are California healthy eaters and it was nearly impossible to satisfy us. There is an inexpensive cafeteria type option but the choices are very unhealthy - pizza, hot dogs and fries. The chicken option was incredibly unappealing. Salads come pre-made in mcDonalds type packaging and all had ham on them! My only suggestion would be for them to improve the food - it's 2011 and Americans are demanding healthier choices! (at least on the west coast!) You should also know that you can only get Disney channels on the television - it felt as though we were trapped in Disney hell after awhile (4 nights was too many for us) Overall, though, it was a good va Mehr

This can be a great hotel if you are prepared to pay a quite a bit on top of standard rate. We have stayed there 3 times each time with a different specification of room. The savannah view rooms are wonderful, but try to request not the main savannah but the quieter one as this is where the animals get fed and they tend to congregate here. It is very […] expensive but certainly an experience! On our second visit we decided to book a standard view. They actually now call this standard view / no view and the latter is meant literally! We were shown to a room on floor 3 the same level as the lobby and bus stops. The balcony front is thick block 6 feet high which faces the walkway to the bus stop. It is then topped with a low sloping roof . The result is just a narrow strip of light at the top. It felt like we were in a tomb!! I cant see how such a room is legal, let alone a room in a luxury hotel. We complained and were moved to a pool view after the first night so be very wary if you book a standard / no view avoid floor 3!. On our third visit not wanting to risk a tomb room we booked a pool view. It was ok and we could just glimpse the pool through the trees but it was directly above the smokers area outside which was off putting when you were enjoying sitting on the balcony. Mehr

My husband and I had a lovely stay here for our honeymoon. Though we did not get the king sized bed we requested, we were sent a congratulatory fruit and cheese plate to our room. It was terrific having the animals right outside our balcony. Our room did have a slight odor near the sink are which I alerted housekeeping to upon our departure. Lobby to dark, very few animals on the grounds. Room was Disney quality. OK. Bath and bedding were fine. Fan was on, full force. The only other choice was off. Ice machine was broken. TV choices were limited. Overall, I felt that it was overpriced. We much prefer the Boardwalk.

Great hotel. All the staff very friendly and went out of their way to help out. Did not see the animals other than what we saw at the Animal Kingdom Park, but we were also on the "Pool" side of the hotel. Pool staff always had some sort of activity going on for the kids. We had a fun time.

Delighted to have enjoyed the experience. The reception/checkout team were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Only recommendation to improve the service would be to sort out the breakfast registration system in the restaurant which was bizarre, inefficient and very frustrating - the restaurant was 95% empty and we had to go through this registration […] process and then be asked to wait for a table to be allocated to us when the serving staff/team were just waiting to serve customers!! The whole process must have taken at least 5 minutes and we were the only people in the queue. Mehr

We absolutely loved our stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge in Walt Disney World. We had the Savana view and saw wonderful animals daily (girraffs, zebras, birds and many others). The hotel was very clean, staff was wonderful and their restrurant buffett was excellent for both breakfast and dinner. Our stay could not have been better. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, and the Arusha savannah view was amazing. We woke up every day to giraffes eating right outside our window, and there were several animals right outside almost all day. Our stay was so relaxing that we opted not to go to the parks and enjoy all the activities around […] the hotel. Don't miss it! Mehr

Safari room was great for watching animals from the room. Room a bit small but quite comfortable. Restaurants on the properties were quite expensive, but it was a lovely trip and the kids really enjoyed the animals.

This was one of the most expensive hotels I've stayed in, but it was worth it for a night! We arrived late, were wowed by the grand lobby, checked into our room and immediately saw giraffe, ostrich, zebra, wildebeast, and storks from our "partial savannah view" balcony. You won't get that at just any hotel! There were plenty of places to see the animals, […] but the property did not appear as large as I imagined... "savannah" is a bit of an overstatement. That is not much of a complaint though because it was still impressive and unique and the African ambiance was everywhere.
