PIKES WATERFRONT LODGE - Fairbanks

It was great, clean, friendly and gave us all the services we need for a trip to Fairbanks.

They cancelled my reservation because someone with the same name checked in earlier that day. They didn't attempt to verify personal information (ie address) to differentiate the two reservations. I checked in anyway because it was too late at night to find another hotel. NOW I've been charged twice, once by hotels.com and again individually by the […] vendor. Mehr

I live in a bush village and Pike's is usually where I stay when I am in Fairbanks. Its slightly more expensive than other places, but its easy to find, the restaurant is good, the decor is good, and the staff are friendly, so usually its worth it to pay a little more.

located right next to the airport.. so the shuttle is a quick ride. Very nice lodge type hotel lobby and right on the river.. so nice views etc. Front Desk had some issues with my check in .. I arrived at 10pm and they had double booked some rooms apparently.. and it took about 10 minutes to fix it. Adding to my consternation was that the clerk kept […] his head down the entire time and wouldn't let me know what the issue was, even when asked directly, but finally explained it to me after he had fixed it. ??? Not sure what that was about. When I inquired about food, I was told that the restaurant closes at 10pm... I walked across the parking lot to a bar & grill co-located with the hotel on the river.. and found that they had absolutely no food after 10p as well. This struck me as odd. as I'd just come from a small native village where both restaurants are open until 1am due to the longer summer day light. Was able to order pizza for delivery. Shuttle back to the airport in the morning was flawless.... this hotel is not within walking distance of anything. Mehr

My stay was brief, for a meeting. Everything was more than adaquit . The service to the airport was great.

My husband and I traveled throughout Alaska this past season and decided to attend the Fairbanks Fair - after a long day at the fair we arrived at the Hotel - which the lobby was closed and slippery due to them waxing the surface of the floor at 11:30pm. The gentlemen at the desk were helpful, but very awkward, staring at my husband and I in a very […] uncomfortable way. When we checked into our room it was 85 degrees and very humid. It was no big deal - until we turned on the A/C and it cooled the room about 5-10 degrees. After that the room was nice, large TV, nice refrigerators, I will say the beds were the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in, very soft, it made up for the scratchy sheets. I put a do not disturb sign on the door and bolted it and went to bed. In the morning, around 9am we were awakened by someone pounding on the door and then they keyed in. About 30 seconds later, more pounding and they keyed in again (because somehow in 30 seconds we vacated the room). Furious, frustrated, and sleepy we called the front desk and complained, told them we didn't appreciate almost getting walked in on twice, and them pounding on the door. The woman laughed and said "Ok I'll tell house keeping to tell her kids to stop knocking on your door. Haha just kidding I'll tell them to stop" Not amused, my husband and I rolled over to go back asleep. 20 mins later, the door was beat on again, and they tried entering again. We called down again and they said they wouldn't enter AGAIN, but in the middle of my husband talking to the front desk woman, she hung up on him. When we checked out we complained yet again, and no one apologized, offered a discount, offered a meal compensation or anything. We will not be recommending, staying at, or eating at Pike's waterfront lodge ever again. Mehr

The hotel was dated and had not been redone in a long time...Luckily we were only spending the night so we came and went quickly...there was a stale, musty odor in the hallway and in the room. I was able to open the door and air out before we went to bed. Their service to airport was good and timely.

The welcome ice cream was a nice touch, but it couldn't make up for the horrible decor. So campy!! I live in Alaska, love a little celebration of what sets Alaska apart, but I felt assaulted by the gaudiness of the decor. It even follows its guests down the hallways!! Yikes!

Staff was wonderful - I had stepped in tar used in road construction, and didn't notice it until I returned to the hotel. One guy on maintenance staff spent half an hour on my boots with a wire brush, paint thinner, and hot water getting all the gunk out. Great staff all around!

Alaskans traveling from a village appreciate the "in town" experience from Pike's. We look forward to the relaxing rooms with the luxury of a hot bath and soft bed. A full evening includes the fine food and social life of the Landing next door. Thanks Pike's!

I appreciated being allowed to stay there with my pet and overall the experience was good with a couple of exceptions. The room was too warm for us and I didn't want to open the window as we were on the ground floor. Also, animal waste pickup needs to be addressed. I know the group I was with were diligent about cleaning up after our own animals but […] clealy, many other guests or employees weren't. Some hotels offer poop bags when guests check in - or have some unfortunate employee assigned to scoop the poop. Mehr

I will not stay here in the winter months. I thought the service was slow and not up to my expectations.

This hotel is located close to the airport and provides a shuttle. It is beautifully decorated and it was clean and the employees were friendly. RECOMMEND!!!!

I probably had the best night of sleep during my entire vacation at this hotel. The breakfast was very good, everything was very tasteful. The only thing I would say was the laundry factilities were not the best. They did not have a change machine, although you could get change at the service desk. The other issue was that the laundry soap machine was […] not working properly, and the front desk provided soap from their laundry service, which was not very good. The machines were pretty pricey, but then again I haven't been to a laundromat in years. Note to self-bring laundry soap. The front desk staff were extremely helpful in providing directions, and another questions we had even though the hotel was full the night we arrived. Mehr

The hotel is right across from the airport and jet noise--too bad because otherwise it's a very nice hotel. Breakfast buffet is a little pricey.

Pikes Waterfront Lodge is a very beautiful hotel, but hopefully the airport can relocate. Lol. I couldn't sleep too well with the noisy airplanes taking off the runway. Sometimes I am a light sleeper, but airplanes are loud too & I am more comfortable without ear plugs stuck in my ears. I really recommend others to stay at Pikes as Pikes takes care all your needs effortlessly. I don't normally do hotel reviews but we had such a great time at Pike's Waterfront Lodge in Fairbanks that I had to comment. The location, on the river, is gorgeous with all the midnight sun shining off the water. The hotel staff was wonderful. The free ice cream parlor was great fun. And the Alaskan artwork in the lobby, by well known Alaskan artists, […] rivals anything at the museum. We hired the hotel's banquet hall for a special event dinner party, and the staff did an amazing job. This is real Alaskan hospitality at its finest. Mehr
