The hotel was pretty old, they have to renovate to compete with raitree , Marriott where they charge same rate.. Location is pretty good..service as good as other hotels, but amenities and gym facilities not that great ..kind of three star compared to international standard..

This is among the top five in my list of favourite hotels. Stepped in through the entrance doors and a wonderful atrium greeted me. Check in was very quick and within a few minutes I was in my room. The room was quite spacious and quite well appointed. The most impressive factor for me was the quality of staff at this hotel. From the doorman to the […] bellhop, from the security staff to the staff at the front desk and the coffee shop, everyone was attentive and extremely courteous and pleasant. I was very impressed with the the newly opened spa, with its temperature controlled indoor pool. When in Chennai, this is the place for me. I have stayed several times at GRT and it is a great and enjoyable place to stay, Unfortunately it wasn't the case this time as my room A/C wasn't working and had a broken shower pipe to confront. The issues were fixed as soon as I raised and the rest of the stay was very pleasant. The hotel is superb. The services are fantastic. The staff are very nice, courteous and quite helpful. They are always at the beck and call of guests. The manager is very nice and friendly, no wonder the staff are good. The price is quite reasonable for the excellent services rendered. I have no complaints at all. I recommend this hotel.

The hotel did their best to make our stay as comfortable as possible. When we called Housekeeping a few times they were very prompt and helpful.The hotel staff were on the whole very polite and professional. Good hotel. No jetted bathrooms in hotel. Statements on website are not true. Or are they? One staff member told us the jacuzzis were more expensive rooms than ours, I showed her the booking with jetted bathtub and she said no! Then another staff said they don't have in hotel at all. We were beautifully looked after by the staff in this hotel, it was our first trip to India and we were concerned about health issues, but this hotel and staff looked after us and we did not become ill. They were very willing to help us in any way possible. We are unable to eat the Indian curries but they had other food choices more suited to the European […] diet. Lovely breakfast and helpful staff.i have been staying in this hotel for the past 12 years and sadly i have noticed the condition and maintenance are not upto date.They have to especially concentrate on the maintenance of the bathrooms.Linens are clean,food is great,excellent staff,located in a central convenient place.

First, we are experienced travellers and have our share of the continents. We stayed one night in the hotel. The Anytime restaurant is fine for quick lunch or dinner. The buffet is ok. The Azulia restaurant had Spanish week and the tapas were tasty. At checkin we had to wait more than 15 mins because our room was not ready. This can happen when you […] arrive around lunchtime. Unfortunately the staff kept saying the room would be ready in 5 or 2 minutes. Quite annoying when staff starts to give answers they think the customer likes. It would have been better to tell the truth, so we could have lunch while waiting. Or even better,a lunch partly paid by the hotel. The condition of the hotel is fine, but it's best days are over. Our room smelled a little humid. Disappointing to us was the fact that the swimmingpool is currently being renovated. I have failed to read that on any of the websites. I guess it's a fine hotel for business, for holiday I would choose another hotel. Mehr

I had two nights of stay at this hotel. staff are very polite and nice. good customer service. only draw back was trip to the Airport by Hotel car will cost a lot around double the price of an ordinary AC car. apart from that stay was good.

The hotel staff were very friendly and always willing to assist. The pool was closed for renovation but the staff ensured that we were given al alternate place with taxi service. This was my second stay at this hotel. The first stay was not very pleasant. But this time I stayed here because an American colleague had made reservations in the same Hotel. And when I mentioned my unpleasant experience ( last time ) during check in they immediately upgraded me to a better room without any charge. The complementary breakfast is very […] good and good variety. You get Hot Dosas and omelette. The masala tea was superb. I also ate 2 dinners in the In - House Restaurant and the food was very delicious. The Hotel is somewhat old and they need to do something about that. One can see the ageing. They charge like a 4 Star but I would rate is just as a 3 star ( however, I would prefer a newer 3 Star Hotel if given the option ) . The Bed is just good enough and not super comfortable or cozy. The towels are not bright white. The television set is a 100 years old ( exaggerated ! ). The 8th floor has Club rooms which I guess may be much better and more expensive. Location of the Hotel is very much in the city and there is a shopping street just nearby called as Pondy Street. They have fast elevators. And the Lobby is really spacious and well lighted. Mehr

GRT seems to have the amentities but everything is a bit dingy. The toilet in our room was a bit temperamental, and the ventilation was weak, meaning the room was damp, musty and distinctly smelling of mold. Old food smells permeate the common areas. Probably okay for a night or two, but not comfortable for a long term stay.

We were spending 10 days in Chennai and we liked the hotel. It was very clean, the rooms were comfortable and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We would be happy to go back to this hotel again when we visit Chennai.

Absolutely amazing service. Was so well looked after. On arrival was greeted by manager and giving free upgrade to a suite. Was bittrn badly by mosquito in taxi and GRT got a doctor and oitment in 15 mins. Restaurant was pasted closing but chef re-opened kitchen and delivered meal to room which was a superb lamb shank with veg and rice. Staff were attentive […] and always willing to help. Their english was excellent. My luggage was dropped off before I arrived which was a nice touch. Only regret was I didn't stay longer! Paid a great price. Nice hotel with good breakfast buffet and restaurants. All of India is a dirt hole, so no points for neighborhood anywhere in the country. Hotel is as clean as anything gets in this armpit of a country.

The Grand Club rooms at the 8th floor provides good privacy, security (security guard at the floor round the clock).and convenience. The breakfast and happy hour (drinks and finger food on the house) are provided at the floor itself and is very comfortable and exclusive.

Excellent stay at this hotel. Thoroughly satifisfied by the service and friendliness of the staff. Only down point is that they still have smoking rooms so be sure to specify for a non-smoking room if you're bothered by the smell (all be it a faint one) of stale cigarettes.
