"A bit shabby but adequate"
I got a decent price on a room. No one will be impressed by these accommodations but they are adequate and reasonably priced.

"Windsor hotel"
I normally do not write negative hotel reviews. However, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone (especially women). The hotel is a dilapidated property with red shag carpeting. It looked like they were trying to renovate the rooms but ran out of money. The TVs are small square boxes with a cable unit sitting on top of them and exposed wiring. I […] didn't even stay for the breakfast, which I normally don't miss. The next two nights of my stay were in a different hotel that cost less and was much nicer. Mehr
Great value for the price. But the wireless network didn't work all the time and the continental breakfast had limited choice (it was mostly carbs). It would be nice to have the option of only bed (not bed and breakfast).

Front desk clerk at check in was great, but I would not go back there.
"Not a bad price"
. . . but you get what you pay for I guess.
For the price this hotel was great! The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The complementary breakfast was very nice and the hotel cat Mona added charm. The location was perfect and the neighborhood was pleasant. The staff were very helpful too. On a side note, the water pressure in the shower could have definitely been stronger. Also the room […] was way too warm and the radiator adjustment was not working. Opening a window or two solved the problem though. Mehr
"Windsor hotel - Washington DC"
excellent location and good breakfast. On the same street with the White house :) Not expensive price.

"Hotel Windsor Inn, Washington D.C."
Very conveniently located, 3 blocks from Metro station. 10 minutes by Metro to all tourist sights in city. Hotel was very clean and services was very good. Breakfast was quite complete and in pleasant surroundings. Hotel is an old building, converted to hotel, but very well re designed. Only negative comment is that the nearest parking facilities is […] 6 blocks away. Parking is very difficult in the street anywhere in the city. Only possibility is in private parking facilities in the city, and there are not many to speak of. Even museums do not have parking facilities in Washington D.C. . Mehr
"Not sure why I even bothered..."
All I wanted was somewhere to sleep. Is that too much to ask from a hotel? Room was fine, service was fine, location was great. It was all very promising until 7AM Sunday morning when all the and continued until I checked out. No, I was not just a victim of bad neighbors. My friend on the other side of the hotel had the same issue. And don't think high […] quality earplugs will get you through. They didn't help at all. Mehr
"Old and run down"
This hotel reminded me of a low end European hotel. The staff was pleasant, and the neighborhood was fun and funky. This is a NO FRILLS hotel.
will come again

"Perfect Price and Location"
I had a great time! The room was cozy and the inn was small and comforting. I liked the overall style and the surrounding areas have a lot to offer. Also, it's not a far walk from the National Mall. I highly recommend it!
"Bed Bugs"
Most of the staff was very nice and the hotel seemed fine, but the "king suite" has a serious bed bug problem. When I reported the problem and asked for a room change, the employee on duty was rude and unapologetic. Not a fun experience, and after thoroughly washing my stuff I really hope I did not bring any of the bed bugs home.
"Stay for the convenience, not the Thrills"
Stayed here over labor day weekend 2011. The GOOD: 1. Very Conveniently located to tour DC. We toured Adams Morgan neighborhood for bars and food, and could walk there easily from teh Dupont Circle Tstop. 2. Safe neighborhood that's great to walk around in 3. Continental breakfast was basic but available: milk, cereal, OJ, Bagels, Pastries, toast 3. […] Coffee + Water at all times 4. Free Wifi, ask attendant for passcode 5. Cosy, old age building 6. Did I mention this place is conveniently located! The BAD: 1. They have no elevators, you must carry your own luggage if you are on top floor 2. Rooms are tinier than an NY condo. Bathrooms even smaller. The bathroom was so small that the sink was located in the bedroom 3. Walls are paper thin, I could here next door neighbors getting frisky 4. No parking available Mehr

"What a mess"
Smallest room I ever stayed in. TV was broken1980s model Only picked up shoping channels ION pbs cbs an local pbs Sink was in room very little room for toiletries Air conditioner was on and off. The little ice machine was 4 all 46 rooms and was broken with no ice on Thur. The web site has not been updated in 3 years. new owners dont fix anything. Out […] of food on Sunday morn. with irrate people demanding food or money. The maids come in during the time guest are eating which takes up precious room as the room is small and eat the breakfast foods. Toaster is OLD and takes 4ever to work There has not been an evening wine and snacks thing in a long time. I felt sorry for the young man who had to receive the anger of the guest who were expecting breakfast on Sunday They were yelling at him in very heavy accented english and he could NOT get in touch with anybody to tell him what to do. I heard him say the owners were not answering the phone and the other contact person was in Germany. I loved the neighborhood It was lovely. I loved the cat. It was hard to understand a couple of the people at the checkin desk. They did not speak very clear english. When I ask about the ice and if there was anothr machine the man said no and yelled sorry at me then continued with his conversation with a man who I saw behind the desk the next morning. They didnt count me important enough to stop their talk and serve me I wont stay there or recomend it unless the owners fix it up Mehr

"Excellent Value"
The Windsor Inn is clean and comfortable with a friendly staff, and is conveniently located in a nice neighborhood a few blocks away from a metro station. It fit all my needs perfectly for much less than I would expect to pay!
"Great Place"
Great location. Very helpful staff. Eat breakfast early or you may miss out. My room was beautiful and i will absolutely be returning in the near future.
"Great location, Old traditional Inn"
At check-in, the gentleman working was very friendly, fun and helpful. They havn't upgraded the key system, so someone has to buzz you into the building every time you leave. The man working overnight was not so pleasant. The room looked just like the pictures and the building was very conveniently located near much nightlife along U street. It was […] a pleasant one night stay. Mehr
"good value for the money"
We arrived on a Thursday night and left the following Monday morning. We booked this hotel because it was walking distance from the attractions and we did not intend to use the car on Fri/Sat/Sun. What none of the other reviews specifically tell you is that you can park on the street without getting a ticket on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday, but […] on weekdays you have to play musical parking spots every three hours in order to avoid getting ticketed or towed. Jamie at the front desk was fabulous; he advised us to park at a pay lot down on P Street on Thursday night and Friday day, which we did. It was $8 overnight and $10 for the next day. Small price to pay for peace of mind. On Fri. evening, after the daytime parking restriction lifted, we took the car out of the lot and parked on the street for the rest of the weekend. Everything was fine in that regard. The hotel itself was fine; very European/boutique style, as stated in the other reviews. Our room was fairly newly decorated, with fresh wallpaper and window dressings and a new bathroom vanity, though why they did not replace the horrid old carpet is beyond me. We had a sticky bathroom door and no towel rods to hang towels, but the room was very clean. For the amount of money we paid we were happy with the hotel. Mehr

"Cozy Comforts in a nice neighborhood"
The Windsor has its pros, but mostly they're cons. It's a little off the beaten path of Dupont Circle, not really near the bars and main attractions. The neighborhood is very gay and pet friendly, which was nice. The hotel itself was a little old, and gave off a bit of The Shining feeling when you walked in the hallways. My biggest complaint was that […] there was a cat in the lobby. She was very nice but being allergic to cats, I wish I would have had some advance notice. We got upgraded to a Queen mini-suite since it was the last room available, and while the bed was nice and comfy enough, the sheets had what felt like a layer of grease on top. I can't adequately describe it and I found a bug near the bed. The tv is also verrrryyyy small. I don't think I'd be staying at this hotel again but maybe I'd be staying in the neighborhood. The concierge was very accomodating and nice but it didn't make up for the unwashed creepy feeling. Mehr

"Windsor Inn"
I think that they do the best with what they have. Very old building but they are all old in DC. But some of the rooms smell old. Ours was ok... The food in the area was great. The inn keepers were very nice and accomodating. We will stay there again.
"Comfy and Cozy"
With the hustle and bustle of the city, this quaint bed and breakfast brought the calm of the country. I enjoyed the mnimialistic amenities and the price was well worth the peace of mind. I heard no noise in the evening when sleeping and the continental breakfast dining room was charming along with the rest of the decor of the building.

"Not what I expected based on the rate and location"
I was given a room in the basement which smells as soon as one starts going down the stairs. The room is suffocating with the horrible smell. AC simply cannot fix it. This hotel is classified as a bed and breakfast. Really there is no breakfast but some pasty, white bread, tea and coffee, one type of cereal with milk and orange juice. no staff was […] around to refill things. The dining room is in a semi-basement with an overall depressing feeling to it. If you compare this to a youth hustle, it is on the nice end of things. but it is not a hotel. the night watch man is similar to one at a motel. Mehr
"the winsdsor inn"
the hotel is located just out of the adams/morgen area. within walking distance of dupont cir, within waking distance of bout 14 and u street and 18 and u st nw
"Windsor Inn-great location and budget friendly"
The Windsor Inn is in a great location; very close to downtown. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I loved my room. I will stay there again on my next trip to D.C.
"Not a very good hotel"
If you want to stay near whitehouse and looking for a budget hotel then it is fine otherwise this is not a very clean hotel. The folks at the reception are very friendly. Room is small and breakfast is not good.
"Nice hotel"
The coffee in the hotel is the best I have ever tasted!!It is a comfortable hotel, and I strongly recommend it !
"charming old fashioned hotel"
Thoroughly recommend this for those who want something different. It is quaint and clean and in a fantastic location. Although it has no parking, the onstreet parking is not a problem as long as you remember when each side of the street becomes a clearway. The continental breakfasts were great. (The hotel cat is one lucky animal.)
"Good for the solo traveler"
The place is a simple easygoing locale that fits if you are not looking for anything too fancy. Room was already air conditioned and for the hot night in DC was a welcome relief, but I paid for it with a head cold the rest of the week. Again this works well if you are looking for a quick easy convenient room and really good for the short term.
"A Pleasant Surprise"
I stayed at Windsor Inn with my colleague for 3 nights while we were in Washington for a conference. At first we expected it to be sketchy and dingy (given its reasonably low price), but we were surprised that it's actually quite decent! Pros: 1. Internet access (wifi + 1 available desktop in the main area) 2. Large walk-in closet (so big you can sleep […] in it) 3. Clean, comfortable, and spacious rooms 4. Good air conditioning 5. Reasonably close to the subway station (~10-15 min walk to U St. station) 6. Timely and well-done housekeeping 7. Breakfast - had different types of danish, toast, coffee, tea, and cereal. 8. Large beds Cons: 1. No elevator (difficult to carry luggage up/down its steep, narrow stairs) 2. Front-desk customer service is inconsistent - some staff members were polite and helpful; others had attitude and didn't care much. Some didn't even ask for names or ID and just gave away the hotel keys when you tell them a room number! (You have to leave your hotel keys with the front desk every time you leave the building and reclaim them when you return) 3. The area for storing luggage at the front desk was quite small and difficult to access. Mehr
"Bad infrastructure"
The hotel was very old. Faulty AC in our room. They could not fix it neither did they could provide an alternative by giving us the new room, etc. Receptionist counter had a leaking AC. The water was dropping from it. Location was very good, nice buildings around. Also, the cat in hotel was very nice. We had good time with her.
"Last Minute"
I was forced to look a hotel because of last min. changes and I was traveling from Chicago...So I was stuck at the Airport on line looking on line for 2 hours and it was already 6pm. I had to come in town for a Performance at Club Cobalt. At this particular date and time there was something going on in the city that cause Mostly all of the Hotels to […] Jack up their prices up to 350- 500 a night I was so Frustrated and still stuck at the Airport. Then a Friend suggested the Windsor Inn and fortunately I found them on Hotels.com! The Service was Great and I got in 8pm but I had one of the best night's sleep while stopping through D.C. for a one night's performance! Thanks Hotels.com! and Windsor Inn! it was awesome and I can't remember the guys name at the desk but If I could I'd give him also an honorable mention! Fantastic! Mehr
