Microtel Madison - Madison

Neat, clean, great continental breakfast, friendly service. Noisy bathroom fan. but manager noted a need for oiling, etc. Check for directions from I-90, 94 for access to and FROM motel--different routes needed if west bound.

It was OK for the price. I was attending a wedding and just needed a place to sleep one night. The room was clean and comfortable, small but adequate. (They call it MICROtel for a reason.) The TV was old and the picture discolored. The breakfast is minimal. Overall experience OK.

It was close to the highway, but also close to the interstate and our room was on that side. We heard the traffic most of the night from the interstate. Otherwise clean and neat. Friendly staff and good rate.

Overall we were satisfied. Rooms small, but functionable. Wish breakfast was a little better, needs less carb filled items. After spending all day in Madison, WI. at Horse Fair, It was a good place to lay our heads.

Nice place for the dollar. Front desk is always helpful, and is close to eating and shopping

Hotel could use a little updating, television and pillows, but over night stay it was very convenient for our needs.

Room was small, but it's called Microtel for a reason. Room was clean, staff courteous, bed reasonably comfortable; what more would you expect for an economy hotel? I'd stay there again.

I have no complaints what so ever with the hotel. Very helpful and courteous staff

Room was clean and front desk person was very accomodating. The room setup was a little strange however. There was a large mirror behind the bed, the tv was on top of the small closet for storing clothes and the bed was a bit uncomfortable. However, for the price, really can't complain.

decent room..bad coffee

room not real clean, but ok for overnite stay. was kept awake by what sounded like a gymnasium directly over our room. we were on second floor. also traffic noise was louder than i thought it should have been. did not stay for complimentary breakfast. overall not a good time. don't stay there; better places available close-by.

The only thing I was dissatisfied with was the shower facility. The shower head did not spray, it was more a heavy flow and the shower curtain was such that water leaked onto the floor.

Hi location can be seen from expressway but difficult to get to Nice room for the price RR

We found the hotel to be in very nice area with a lot of shopping near by. Also very close to restaurants which was very handy. All in all we enjoyed our stay

good place to sleep and shower for a cheap price.

Let's get this straight: This is a budget hotel. However, the basics are all right, which is the important part. Rooms were clean and free of odor, beds were comfortable, working alarm clock, iron, etc. The rooms are of good size with a nice window nook. You could probably sleep 5 in a 2-bed room. The breakfast seems to have been purchased at Costco […] and is best avoided, unless you like Froot Loops. Likewise, the gym consists of cheap unmaintained equipment with poor ventilation. Your neighbors are cracker barrel and the shopping mall. Bottom line: If you are looking for a hotel with all the essentials, this is a great place. If you need much more than the basics, look elsewhere. Mehr

Arrived at the hotel front desk and waited 15+ minutes before anyone showed up. Even tried calling their phone number, but with no answer. By the time the desk clerk got from wherever he was, he just quickly procedded our reservation, handed us the keys and moved to the next custeron as there were about five people waiting by this time. No apology for […] being gone, no reason, not even was there a note left. As for the room and it's cleaniness, I would say it was great for the price paid for the stay. Staff member in the morning of our depatrure was also pretty grumpy as we were leaving. Aside from the two employees we had contact with, this place was worth the stay. But, the two employees of the hotel make me much rather just try a different place next time I am in Madison. Mehr

Horrible customer service. I'd rather just pay more for a better hotel. Checking in was a nightmare.

This was a cheap stay and we got what we expected. No better no worse.

The hotel itself wasn't too bad, but if you use hotel.com to book it make sure you uncheck the box that says "pet room" because if you don't that's what they give you and you can tell a pet has been in there.

I liked the place. This is my 2nd microtel I stayed at. Neat clean all the basics. The reason for a 3 on surrounding neighborhood is because it has expressway on one side and shopping mall on other. No problem just to get a 5 you would need to have the grand canyon or the ocean outside your window. I didn't bring the dog but good to have a pet friendly […] place. We recently stayed at the Microtel in Madison, Wisconsin. This was actually our second stay there. It was a great room for a great price. Keep in mind, this isn't a five-star hotel like Four Seasons, but it isn't meant to be. What we got was a clean and comfortable room in an easy-to-find location at a more-than-reasonable price. Our main criteria for this stay was whether it was close to the interstate and had a place to put a truck with an eleven foot U-Haul trailer. It was walking distance to some good places to eat. We found the room rather tired but fit our need.

The Microtel in East Madison is very convenient to almost anything in town. There is a shopping center quite close,and there are quite a few decent restau- rants nearby. The hotel staff is courteous and friendly. If you are looking for luxury,this is not the place. If you wish good value for your money, you will be satisfied with these accomodations. Irv […] K. Mehr

You get what you pay for. Don't book it and expect the Hamptons. It's a tiny step up from motel 6. Don't get me wrong, its nice and clean, just not grand. My bf plugged the toilet, they were professional and kind for bringing a plunger to the room.

We were looking for an inexpensive place to stay. found it. My wife wasn't crazy about it, but it worked . The breakfast was a nice surprise. I would stay there again if I was looking for a place to flop. It is not glamorous, very plain, a tolerant person will like it just fine.

While I was there the Wifi didn't work, but they said "we're working on it" and then the elevator broke down and they "were working on it." The halls were not air conditioned and it was really stuffy. There was not much to the breakfast at all. But it was cheap, room was clean, air conditioning in room worked good and it was close to a lot of resturants […] and shops. Plus it was right off the interstate. so it was okay. Mehr

O K Motel for a good price.

Clerk slightly hasseled me about how I made my 2-night reservations b/c I reserved them separately and I asked to have the same room for both nights. I arrived ay 12:45 am to check in & I simply asked to have the same room for both nights. He asked my why I did I make separate reservations & that I should not expect to do that on weekends b/c I would […] be granted the same room. Then he started to lecture me on how to change a reservation. I told him not to lecture me and just check me in as it was late & I was tired. I also stated that I didn't care if I had to change rooms or even get another hotel if he was going to hassel me about it. I just asked a simple question and I wasn't even persistent about it. He should just do his job and stay out of guests businesses of why the reservations were made. Mehr

The workers are so so nice. I didn't think the vending machine worked so one of the workers decided to use his own dollar to see if it worked. The room was very very nice. The beds were extremely comfortable and we had a good view. The prices were very reasonable for the quality of the room. The hotel is in a very good place too. We didn't have a car, […] but we could get food, or go to the local office max across the street. Mehr

Put us in a handicap room Were going to charge a hyge amount to move into a normal room. Manager was ok after a bit of talking Bed was broken in the middle. No fridge or micro as promised. Price was right but I quess you get what you pay for. Excellent location, too bad they are letting the hotel go to seed.

I stayed at this property about 5 years ago and at that time it was a nice Micro-tel. I am not sure it has had any maintenance or upkeep since, and it may be that long since it had a thorough cleaning. After seeing the room we went to a local store and bought disinfectant wipes--they came away blac from wiping the table, repote, and other surfaces. […] The carpeting along the edges of the beds had debris along them. There was hair in the bathroom on the floor. The dresser has something spilled down its front. The public areas were equally bad. The stairways were unvaccumed. The elevator floor had spilled beverages on it. The stainless panels in the elevator clearly had not been cleaned in quite some time. Disappointing. Spend a few dollars more a night and stay somewhere else until they bring this property up to standards. Mehr

This facility provided a quiet and clean basic honest hotel room at a fair price. The location is reasonably close to downtown and the University without the attendant drama. In the immediate area, basic shopping for incidentals and chain food are readily available. Location is also reasonably close to yet far enough from the airport to not experience […] the roar of arrivals or departures. From the moment we checked in, it was awful. We were given key cards to the first room, we entered and turned on the lights. There were large crumbs on the dresser/desk, a sock on the bed, and cobwebs that completely covered the top of the window. (they covered an area roughly 2 ft wide by 12 feet long). We complained to management and showed them the […] room. The lady manager told us that she thought it was still "liveable", but did give us a new room. The new room had a bed that made a very loud "thunk" everytime one of us turned over. We were given 3 pillows approx. 1/8" thick. The hot tub had a hole in the side, the floors were filthy, and they shut the water off with no warning for 4 hours. This place is awful. Mehr

This hotel was trashy, as were the staff. All rooms in the hotel are line with mirrors. The carpet and bathtub were not clean, the lighting was horrible, the bathroom fan and alarm clock were broken. I requested to change rooms and hotels, to which they would not let me. The front desk worker refused to let me speak with a manager.

The room was very clean and well lit. The beds were comfortable. I loved the window seat. The only complaint I have is the in room coffee. They left enough coffee making items for 2 - 6 oz cups of coffee but they have 4 cups. They didn't explain that coffee was available all the time in the lobby or where the ice makers were or that you had to bring […] the tray down from your room if you needed to use one. Mehr

It was compleat sufficient for our needs. Nothing fancy, slightly small, but very clean.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a night (thank goodness it was only ONE). The receptionist was rude and the rooms werent very clean (think ring in the toilet). I dont expect a whole lot when I go budget, but I do expect friendly and clean. Also, the matresses are terrible. You could feel a couple of springs. My boyfriend and I tossed and turned all […] night long. He even tried sleeping on the other end of the bed! We barely slept and our backs hurt badly in the morning (We are in our late 20's). The only upside is that it was very close to restaurants and shopping. We enjoyed Cracker Barrel in the morning since it was right next door. Also very close to the interstate, which is helpful for travel. My advice is to spring an extra 15- 20 dollars and stay at another hotel (There are at least 5 others in the immediate area). Dont stay here. I hope this review helps someone have a better stay and more peaceful nights sleep at another hotel! Mehr
