Holiday Inn Express Cardiff Bay - Cardiff

Service and accommodation were fine, but nowhere during the booking process were we advised about a £5 per night parking fee.Amount not exhorbitant,but have never paid to park in a hotel before and felt the charge was underhand,and therefore resented it.

Great locationcentral to the quay and restaurants or the town centre and castle. Hotel was a good standard and the breakfast was a bonus. Nice views and ample parking. Very friendly and helpful staff too.

The location was perfect as it was only a short walk from the bay however there were a few things we were not happy with. We had a family room and only 2 cups for tea was provided and the milk had gone off. The sheets had a split in them and the double pull out bed was extremely uncomfortable. The breakfast wasn't great either, you had to wait 10 minutes […] to get a seat and another 10 minutes to get breakfast which was cold by the time we got it. Mehr

We had a lovely stay with the two children in this hotel. Great value for money with kids eat and stay for free. Easy walk into Mermaid Quay area, about 15 mins with a 7 year old child.Hotel was clean and friendly and efficient.

Hotel was lovely, room very clean with lovely staff who help out at need you may have. Breakfast is yummy and keeps the kids happy and full for the day ahead. The hotel is within walking distance to both the Bay and Shops so everybody is happy. This is the second time we have stayed there and would definitely go back again.

very convenient for shopping, milennium, habour restaurants and cafes, only a five minute walk to all. Good, friendly staff, breakfast good. Pub next door very nice. great time had by all.

Good points:- Friendly and helpful hotel staff. Bad points:- Hotel looks tired and as if it was once part of the Alan Partridge comedy series. No food is served here so resulted to having to pay the hotel to order me a Domino's pizza @ a cost of £19.99! TV was "stuck" on welcome screen and couldn't change the channel or volume. When I went to call […] reception the phone in the room was soo worn and damaged it crackled and I could barely hear reception on the other end. This resulted in having to move room which was above the reception level toilets so all I heard for most of the night was the loud extractor fan and running water from the toilets. Lovely setting on the water, excellent and very reasonably priced pub next door and very close to all amenities whether you want the City Centre or the bay. Breakfast was more than adequate and the room slept 3 of us very comfortably, will definitely return in the summer :)

Great hotel

Great value for money hotel. Good sized clean room. Good location and nice pub right next door. Light breakfast included in the price. No complaints.

Made a mistake in booking this room as it was a holiday inn EXPRESS and not the proper hotel. I tried to get a transfer to the cosha holiday inn on Castle street but this could not be done as the Holiday Inn name is only a brand name and franchise as the this hotel is owned in actual fact by another company. Checkout was early at 11am and breakfast […] closed at 10am so no good for a nice holiday break but ok for business. Staff were however very nice indeed and place was nice and tidy. Could be a good place to stay for groups as some rooms have sofa bed. I live and learn! Mehr

The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The room was clean and quiet and very comfortable. The breakfast was ample and enjoyable. Overall we would definately recommend this hotel and use it's facilities again!

We've stayed in this hotel before and that's why we chose to stay this time. My party thought it was a good value hotel and perfect for our visit to the Millenium Centre

Fair enough we expected budget, we expected basic. however the room smelled of stale smoke and was really musty, i sprayed my body spray and perfume around the furniture but it made no difference. I wouldn't feed the breakfast 'sausages' to my dog...they were vile cheap nasty and tasteless. The scrambled eggs tasted of cardboard and we couldnt eat any […] of it. very good customer service at hotel, location is brilliant for visitors to Cardiff Bay attractions and eateries. Hotel is clean. They would do excellent to invest in slightly more comfortable mattreses

Convenient, safe location for access to Cardiff Bay for relaxing evening meals and day-time access to Cardiff city by water bus from bay (30 mins relaxing no hassle journey). Possible to return to hotel by No. 6 Bus from o/s Hilton Hotel-ensure you get off at City Hall stop. Staff most helpful and considerate. This hotel was close to the Bay with only a 5 minute walk to a variety of restaurants and fun things to do. The room was clean and comfy and the breakfast was perfect. The hotel staff were all friendly and helpful when needed. I would highly reccommend this hotel to anybody wishing to stay in Cardiff.

the standard of the room was did not reflect the rate paid for the room. Needs up dating and a good clean.

The hotel is located in a nice location which is a big plus. I was disappointed to walk into the room to find the toilets werent cleaned properly since the last person vacated. Rooms were fine and well cleaned. Not a noisy environment. They have a nice pub adjacent to the hotel which served nice food. To say the breakfast was a disappointment would […] be an understatement. ten minute walk to many pubs and restaurants. 20 minute walk to the central train station but be sure and get specific directions under excellent management

perfect location to stay in by the bay, especially if going to the CIA for a performance. park and ride is up the road and across the water is a fab pub would definately stay again in the near future

Excellent staff, comfortable room (except the sofa bed, dear god, it was awful..) and lovely location on the bay with a nice pub next to it. We had a great stay, and they even kept the hotel bar open til after 2am for us. Would def recommend this hotel.

The room and communal areas were clean and well maintained and the staff were without exception very helpful and polite. The hotel was close to the city centre and quite close to restuarants, although if you have trouble walking a short taxi ride is needed to get to either. This hotel presented no surprises, apart from the big one that WiFi access was over ten pounds for one night (for a throttled service - more for full access). This was not explicit on the booking page, at time of booking.

A hotel near to many venues in Cardiff Bay and within walking distance of city centre for shopping. Helpful staff, clean comfortable rooms, not the best breakfast in the world but adequate. Despite being busy with rugby fans it was quiet and restful. Would definitely stay there again.

We stayed on a Saturday night. We smell cigarette smoke on our non smoking floor which we reported. Later in the early hours revellers returned making excessive noise and further cigareete smoke wafted in the room again. This not only disturbed us but adjcent rooms. Eventually died down down in about an hour between 1 and 2 am. Breakfast was fine. Our overnight stay was a most enjoyable experience. Friendly staff, pleasant rooms and a very good buffet breakfast.

Halfway between City centre & the Bay area, both within easy walking distance. Good buffet breakfast, very attentive & courteous staff. Would definitely stay here again.

the hotel an its staff were great. Only problem the breakfast area was way to small, there is not enought tables or room for the size of the hotel

The room was booked for 2 adults and 2 children but was far too small for this purpose and they should not make it available on such a basis. With the sofa bed folded out, there was no room to walk, stand or sit other than on a bed. The bathroom was passable for one night, as was the complimentary breakfast - although I suggest you eat early as by mid […] morning there are no tables left and the area is very overcrowded. An extra parking fee is imposed and many staff have very poor English language skills - especially at reception. We stayed 2 nights. The hotel was excellent. Comfortable, clean, quiet room. The ensuite was impeccable. The hotel doesn't supply the small toiletries in the ensuite, but are available from reception. There is a small breakfast room looking out over the water. The hotel was full when we were there and consequently there were queues for the breakfast […] buffet, but that wasn't a problem for us. There is no restaurant in the hotel but it is located 20mins walk from the city centre which has a huge choice of eating & drinking places. The area around is renovated dockland and is quite pleasant and mainly residential. The car park in front of the hotel was full on our second day, but there is safe roadside parking lose by. There is a small daily car park fee for using the hotel car park. The receptionist was efficient and pleasant. Mehr

The location of the hotel was excellent, convenient for the city centre and the bay area. It was easy to find and accessable from the motorway. Staff were friendly and helpful One slight issue was the cost of using the internet, I expected the WiFi to be free or at a much lower rate than it was. Having internet access would have improved our stay
