very nice location, could walk to variety of restaurants for supper. Hotel a little tired, but clean and bed comfortable. Breakfast all carbs and no protein. Disappointing. For an overnight certainly OK. Price was OK.

The breakfast was better than I expected, but aside from that, this was what I would anticipate in a low cost hotel. Nothing was fancy, but nothing was broken or disruptive, either. OK overall.

Host was Very Nice and Hospitable BUT the room bathroom was NOT very nice. Shoe print on wall. Poor cleaning. Decoration looked like skid row. Would not go again. Hope I don't have bugs!

My family often chooses a Microtel because in general we have found them to be consistently very clean, comfortable, and perfectly adequate for a one night stay on a road trip. This MIcrotel however, looked like it had not been updated at all in the past 30 years, was not terribly clean, the staff was unhelpful, and in fact wouldn't even address me--only […] my husband. I stay at alot of hotels in knoxville but this one was very nice very affordable and extreemley friendly staff would highly recomend to anyone wishing to save money on a clean efficient room

We had been driving ALL day...came to the Microtel at around 1:30AM. When I walked into the lobby to the front desk, there were two guys watching a porno!!! I was absoultely horrified, and really creeped out. They were watching on a TV in the breakfast area, which is directly across from the front desk. This is the first time I have ever asked to change rooms and they were extremely friendly about it. The lights in the bathroom did not work but the staff was very accommodating. The place showed wear but it was cheap. This is the first motel in my life that did not have a coffee pot in my room. Walking down the hall you could hear the people inside […] the rooms which made me a little nervous. For the money is was fine. I would recommend this to anybody that just wants an inexpensive room no frills. Bring your own coffee pot. They redeemed the entire stay by serving gravy for breakfast. Mehr

The front desk staff was very friendly. Room was decently clean- more outdated than dirty, really. But for the price, a great place. Bed was super-comfy. Nice, small, room for my overnight during a long road trip. Good location right off the interstate. I would stay there again, definitely.

We have stayed at this Microtel on many occasions over the last four years and have never had a problem. This visit didn't turn out so well though. Our car and 2 others had the windshields broken and so far they have not seen fit to take any action regarding the problem.

Ok for the price but cars were vandalized overnight in the parking lot. I will not return.

after a long drive, I need a comfortable bed (great topper!) and a quiet room. The clerk offered me a top floor non-smoking room and a queen bed...that and a great shower (which needs updating/repairs) was all I needed! If I have one suggestion, it's don't try going anywhere near North Peters during Rush Hour. I stayed in the Microtel Knoxville Friday night. The room was clean, if small. The staff friendly. But the traffic was insane and getting anywhere near the hotel was.. frustrating. I stayed on the second floor, which was the non-smoking floor! I loved the 12 o'clock check out! As far as the cleanliness is concerned, there was a weird chemical-like smell in the hallways. There was also some rusty things in the bathroom, like the shower and the sink. However, given the price per night at this place, it's a killer deal!

Microtel Knoxville was perfect for simply needing a value-priced, clean, comfortable place to lay my head after arriving on a late flight into Knoxville. Both the night staff and morning staff were courteous, welcoming, efficient and helpful. Free breakfast was included, which included cereal, juices and coffee - and coffee was decent house coffee. […] For the price we paid, we felt it was a terrific value considering the quality and condition of the room, and a convenient location right off of I-40 and other major roads. Better than we expected in terms of modern furniture and fixtures, comfort and cleanliness. It is conveniently located if you're visiting friends/family in West Knoxville or if you just need to stay overnight in a place that is not far from the interstate. There are many convenient amenities nearby, including big box retail stores, gas stations, mid-grade chain restaurants, movie theaters, and even a well-respected jazz club on the same street if you have time to get a drink. Since we were visiting friends in downtown Knoxville, however, we only stayed one night and then switched to a hotel closer to our friends and other points of interest, which happened to be 3 times the cost per night at the time. Microtel Knoxville is about a 20 minute drive from campus/downtown and for the price and overall value, I would consider staying here in the future and simply making the drive each time to go visit downtown/campus areas. It is no frills, nothing impressive or luxurious - simply a decent, friendly, reliable, clean, safe, value-priced place to stay - if that is what you're looking for. Mehr

My partner and I went to Knoxville to visit a friend, and knowing that we weren't planning to spend any REAL time in the hotel, we booked the Microtel because it was inexpensive and close to where my friend lives. The hotel was pretty "eh." I felt like it wasn't as clean as it should've been. I'm pretty sure our sheets weren't freshly changed (my hair […] isn't black, yet there was black hair ALL OVER our linens). The light fixtures and tissue cover were rusted, we didn't have a real shower curtain- there was no vinyl liner, just a fabric piece, so our bathroom floor was soaked. There also was no fan in our bathroom, so it remained steamed up and hot the entire stay. The stairways were dirty, smelled like cigarette smoke and REALLY needed to be cleaned. The entire place really needed a new coat of paint, and some deep-cleaning. Even our carpet looked like it hadn’t seen the gentle scrubbing of a steam-cleaner in YEARS. It reminded me of the hotel from the Shining, although there were no twin girl ghosts haunting the hallways. Our door didn’t shut all the way unless we pulled it really hard, and even then, I could still l shove it open (thankfully non of our belongings were missing at the end of our trip!). The walls were like tissue paper and I could hear our heavy-footed upstairs neighbor, as well as anyone going down the side stairway near our door. The staff was polite in our few interactions with them, but, let's be honest, this isn't a fancy hotel. It's a place you choose to stay because you need a place to stay. If I were to come back to Knoxville, I’d probably spring for a pricer hotel, simply because I was afraid I was going to contract some diseases from this place. I can’t recommend this hotel to anyone, but I also can’t say it was terrible. It was just very “eh.” If the staff put more work into the place and cleaned it up a little more, I think they’d get more business. Mehr

The room was small (hence the name), but clean, and I was overall satisfied with the experience. However, I met my boyfriend at this hotel, and although I had already paid for the room, they would not allow him to check until I got there (even after I made repeated phone calls)-- I thought the front desk staff was very rude.

Although the room was clean, it carried an odor which was bothersome. Not a cleaning product smell, not perfume,not offensive, but made me want to air the place out every time I came into the room. Those with sensitive sinuses might want to make another choice. Oct. 2011.

I literally stayed at the hotel for about 8 hours. It was very bare bones as far amenities are concerned. I wasn't expecting much and that is exactly what I got. It served it's purpose so I was satisfied.

The Microtel in Knoxville, TN was a dissapointment. I know you can't expect much when you pay so little for a room, but it was gross, really. The bathroom was pretty nasty (caulking was dirty and coming off). There was a good layer of dust on things, to name a couple. The security latch was literally falling off the door/wall. There was a cockroach […] crawling on the floor. The AC had mold on the vents. The stairwells were very dirty and they (and the whole hotel) smelled bad. Everything was outdated. The best thing was the bed. Quite comfortable and clean. The continental breakfast was quite adequate (4 cereals, bagels, muffins, pastries, toast, milk, 2 juices and coffee/hot water). Although they always ran out of coffee by the time I got there (8am). And yes, the rooms were small, but manageable. Mehr

This property needs renovation BADLY, this is all I have to say. I mean, staff was very accommodating, but there is only so much they could do.

This was an economy hotel, so I didn't go expecting the Ritz, and I was not disappointed. The room was small, but big enough for an overnight stay with little time spent in the room. I liked the lay-out of the room with the light above the bed and no lamps to clutter the bedside table (er, shelf). The bed was comfortable. At first I thought the bathroom […] wasn't very clean, but on closer inspection, I found it was clean, just sort of showing age and wear. Actually the room seemed to be cleaner than a lot of places that cost quite a bit more. There was no hair dryer in the bathroom, but when I called the desk, they promptly brought me one, even though it only worked on low setting. The breakfast pickings were slim, but for the price I didn't expect a buffet, and my tea and muffin were good. Mehr

Location of hotel is great. Overall cleanliness of hotel seemed fine with exception of bathroom. Not clean at all! You get what you pay for on this one...

The hotel was a bit old, but everything was clean and functional. It was close to a whole strip of restaurants, so it was easy to find dinner, and it was convenient to the highway.

For some reason ants kept swarming the bathroom sink each night. I had to close the sink stopper and fill the sink with water to keep ants from going there.

My one night stay was exactly what I needed. The room was a good value and provided a quiet comfortable environment. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was standard continental fare. I would stay there again.

I have stayed at this Microtel a couple of times. The rooms are not big, but they are comfortable. The rooms are perfect for someone who has a lot to do, and is not in their room a lot. The breakfast is simple, but exactly what I like for breakfast. Cedar Bluff is a good neighbourhood with restaurants nearby and a Kroger. I recommend this moderately […] priced and comfortable hotel. Stayed here for a two day weekend event. I have stayed here before and they have renovated since last year and have greatly improved their beds. Mattresses are comfortable and bigger pillows. Good location near restaurants and shopping.

The rooms we booked were not available so we had to argue until they switched us with another customer. We could not get our money back because it was after 4pm. So we had to stay there or spend more money for another motel. There was suppose to be a room with two twin beds. They gave us a room with one queen which was not suitable. I showed them our […] confirmation numbers and they said they could do nothing. They said your people overbook rooms and that I should contact you to complain. The cord on the clock was cut. The smoke detector was missing. The exhaust fan in the bathroom did not work. One of the rooms did not have a frig. The linens were not changed, just thrown to the side. We called for room service to make the bed. They said they could not and had us go downstairs to get fresh linens and make our own bed. There was no hair dryer in one of the rooms. And no hair conditioner to go with the shampoo. Your ad stated there were coffee pots in the rooms. They were not and the front desk said they never had coffee pots. Mehr

I got a good price and glad I stayed here. It is older and shows some wear and tear, but halls, room, lobby and breakfast areas were clean. Staff very polite.

Room smelled like someone was trying to use air freshener to cover up bad odors. The mattress should have been changed a long time ago-- Most uncomfortable bed I've ever had in a hotel. The toilet barely flushed and the bath was poorly cleaned. I had booked for 2 nights but left after one. I have never written a review before but this hotel should be […] avoided. Mehr

The clerk when I checked in had what I can only imagine was her 2 daughters, maybe 11 and 7 years old eating cereal and running around in their stocking feet. The coverlet on the bottom of the bed and the curtains had major stains on them. The chair was nasty enough I would not sit in it. The next morning at breakfast the cereal was all over the counter, […] orange juice had filled the over flow for the dispenser and had run out on the counter, and trash and food was scattered over the rest of the counter. Only after I took the first picture of this nastiness did the clerk arise from his perch and clean it up.. I plan to send those pictures tomorrow to Microtel corporate office. What a disgrace! They should be ashamed. STAY ELSEWHERE!! Mehr

The hotel is located by a fire station and fire trucks with sirens blaring go by the hotel all night. The cleanliness of the hotel is not good. The furnishings are very dated.

Room was very good for the price. Small but clean and neat. Breakfast was very limited but ok. Laundry only had one washer and dryer so there was a backlog of people using them. Parking was good and plenty of places to eat around hotel.

Room was small but comfortable. Bed was comfortable and clean. No coffee/tea service in room nor was there a hair dryer. Room keys needed to be re-activated multiple times on daily basis. Staff blamed cell phone and other strong electromagnetic fields. Despite these aggrevations room was worth the money spent. Top quality despite the small flaws.
