Union Bank Inn - Edmonton

I have never stayed at this property before and was pleasantly surprised by this boutique inn. The rooms were clean and well appointed. The electric fireplace was a nice touch. There was a wine and cheese plate waiting in the room when I arrived and a personalized greeting card. These are small details but they add to the overall impression a hotel […] makes. The full breakfast at the Madison Grill restaurant downstairs was included in the room rate. Very well done. The complementary wifi is also nice for those of us who have to do business on the road. I only have a few quibbles with this property and it may have to do with factors beyond its control. The parking is hard to get to and the directions to it are vague. As well, the beds were a little firm for my liking, but my wife who accompanied me on this trip found them fine. The bathroom was quite large in our room. This aside, I can say that I enjoyed my stay at the Union Bank and would recommend it to my friends and colleagues. It is certainly amongst my top choices to stay in downtown Edmonton. Mehr

Hotel room was excellent. However had to pay extra for outdoor parking. II was not aware of this when I made the booking. In addition, breakfast was included in the rate when I made the booking, but when I checked in, I was told breakfast will be at 7AM. As I had an appointment at 7AM, they offered a continental breakfast to be brought to my room […] at 6:30AM. It did not happen, even after I reminded the front desk at 6:40AM. Mehr

We gave our daughter and son- in- law a one night stay at this hotel following a wedding we all had attended. It was a small intimate wedding in their ballroom. . .it was beautiful and the meal was superb. The hotel room was warm, inviting, and very comfortable. They offered little extras i.e. a glass of wine and little tray of fruit, cheese, and crackers […] for each of them. My daughter was most impressed with the Kurig Coffee Maker in the room. They said it was very quiet, never heard a thing like the usual, ice machine or elevator doors opening and closing. It felt like they were the only guests on the floor. They loved the complimentary breakfast in the morning . . most delicious. It was not a buffet but ordered off the menu. The stuffed french toast was supurb. It was a little pricer than what we usually pay for a room, but it was well worth it. Parking was extra and it was a little difficult getting off Jasper Ave. and into the back to the entrance. We definately would recommend this hotel that many have referred to as a Boutique Hotel. It has great history as well. Mehr

This hotel is small, clean, comfortable, and quiet. It calls itself a "boutique" hotel, and I agree. Breakfast is included in the room rate, and it's not one of those buffets you get in so many places; you can order whatever you like from the menu. It's definitely my preferred hotel in Edmonton.

very nice, quaint hotel. located across from the LRT so in case you are going to a football or hockey game it is a breeze. we only had breakfast in the hotel restaurant but it was very good - I can imagine the dinner menu would be spectacular. wine and cheese delivered to the room for cocktail hour was a nice touch.

Very friendly staff and excellent restaurant--definitely the hotel we'll stay at the next time we're in Edmonton.

I booked this hotel as a gift for my son and his bride for their wedding night. We thought everything was sorted - checked them in in the afternoon, got their keys, etc. Everything seemed fine u til the bride and groom arrived around midnight.Their room keys didn't work, help was hard to find AND they were awoken the morning after their wedding night […] by the front supervisor walking into their room without knocking or announcing himself. When approached about this he insisted that he knocked and refused to admit responsibility. Apparently 34 years of hotel experience does not make you anything more than apologetic and full of denials. So, if it's a private romantic stay that you are seeking you may want to consider another venue. A huge disappointment. Mehr

The hotel was perfect for my stay. I traveled with my husband who had business in Edmonton. I was on my own during the day. The hotel was close to shopping and restaurants. When the weather changed to rain I stayed in my cozy room with my fireplace. I read my book and did some paperwork. Then at 4:00 everyday, I received my complimentary wine and cheese. […] It was the perfect relaxing getaway. The staff was also very friendly and accomodating. Mehr

The hotel Union Bank Hotel in Edmonton Alberta, is straight in the middle of the financial district, with some very high buildings, impressive architecture, including the Art institute. The Hotel staff were absolutely brilliant, even one member of staff gave us his cell phone number to contact him out side of his duty hours, if we needed any help with […] negotiating the city of Edmonton. The rooms are very clean, sophisticated in design, and comfortable. My only compliant was there was no water in the room and i had to call room service in the early hours . Complimentery cheese with wine, awaiting out arrival was a lovely touch. Mehr

The staff upon check in were very professional, courteous and pleasant.We hada room in the contemporary wing, awesome.Wine and cheese awaited us in our room, gas fireplace and ,most important, CLEAN! We never had reservations for the lovely restaurant, Madison's Grill, and we wre accomadated, to a wonderful table, great service. only complaint we had […] was that the wine selection lacked Canadain wines, i beleive they had two on the menu.In the morning, we had breakfast there also ,which was included in the price. The entire hotel has a great ambiance.We will definately stay again, and recommend this to all travellers. Mehr

This hotel is outstanding! Wine, cheese and crackers provided upon arrival in my room. Gas fireplace to take a chill off the air. Bath salts and luxury robe. Incredible dining experience and delicious breakfast the next am. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!
