Hilton Portsmouth Hotel - Portsmouth

So convenient for the ferry port. Price was amazingly low for the quality of the room and the meals. Cheerful and obliging staff especially at breakfast time.

i was disapointed with the room for a 4* star ratiing i expected more to the room not just a standard room the tv was not very good very slow and then didnt work at all taps in the bathroom sink moved and bath mat had holes in it

I stayed at this hotel although initially concerned due to mixed reviews.... Nothing to be worried about the twin room was absolutely fine in good decorative order the toilet could b a bit temperamental and had to be flushed a certain way and the tv had a mind of it's own however these are small things the breakfast was buffet style and value with plenty […] to choose from and was available up to 11am. if heading out to Gunwharf quays and the main shopping areas you definitely need a car as it's about 15 minutes away or stay nearer to the main attractions. The Hotel tried to charge £15 for internet access. We were told that due to function we would not be able to eat until 2045 at the earliest. Tried to get a drink at the bar no gas so no draught drinks only very expensive bottled drinks. Very disappointing. No fridge or hairdryer in the room. No climate control and the room was really hot in the afternoon. Breakfast was nice. But one morning the staff were serving themselves breakfast at 10:30 when servi was until 11. We found it difficult to get coffee. Felt uncomfortable with this. Hilton is a brand where you might expect to pay a little more for quality. Instead I experienced a poor quality room which was not that clean. I was irritated at having to get out of my car to pay £2 to park in the hotel overnight having paid too much for a nights stay.

Good comfort & Hilton standard, but little insulation between walls. My daughter was woken at 6am by children next door. We were all also woken just after midnught by people walking down the coridor talking. So not a long sleep.

Hotel fine for what we needed it for ,breakfast fab 10 out 10. apart from long walk to room the hotel fitted the bill

With a 7am ferry we needed to be near to Portsmouth Ferry Port. Good location, nice quiet room. Girl on reception failed to explain the 'pay&display' parking whereby Hilton fleece all customers for £1 x 119 rooms per day..! Made mistake of going into Portsmouth for dinner, and sure enough a drunk, druggie started throwing chairs around Pizza Hut.

The Hilton Hotel Portsmouth is an excellent Hotel, staff very friendly / polite. Rooms comfortable, very good breakfast choice. Easy access to motorways. I would recommend it to anyone.

Adequate but not inspiring

Lovely hotel, nicely located. Staff very attentive. A good base for touring around.

Needed a value for money hotel for a couple of nights away with my wife to visit Portsmouth. Usually would choice a Premier Inn or Travel Lodge, but on this occasion found Hotels.com could offer this Hilton Hotel cheaper. Close to the motorway, so convenient and not too noisy. Did not get the room we booked, had to change rooms, glasses in the bar were dirty. Breakfast ok, loads of over attentive staff. Would not go back.

the Hilton in Portsmouth is a lovely hotel,although was very noisy owing to a wedding function that night . the beds in the hotel are very hard and owing to having bad hips I did not get a lot of sleep,even though staff gave me an extra quilt to lay on .I have stayed before and had the same problem with the bed in a different room ?

The hotel was a bit further away from the port than I had orginaly thought. On checking in the staff was very polite and helpful, taking our information for a wake-up call and agreeing to arrange for a taxi the following morning. Breakfast was included in the room, but as we were leaving early the staff stated they would provide a "breakfast to go". […] The wake-up call never happened, the taxi had not been called, and breakfast was not prepared. Apparently the information was never properly annotated so that the morning crew was aware. Very annoying. On another note, the staff who provided room service and who assisted with some specific requests during our stay were prompt and polite. Mehr

Overall an enjoyaable stay the staff were very friendly especially to an old lady on her ownl It is tucked away behind a garage, and I past edit several times before I found it. I did use the bus service to Portsmouth quays on one. my days, it is just outside the hotel but only runs every hour, so check times with reception, The only downside was the […] dinner in the evening which I did not enjoy, but no one could fault the breadfast,first class. I have stayed at this hotel twice, and both times I had cause to complain, the first was Friday night and a drunk set off the fire alarm at 3.30am, the second time I complained that the Bacon on my breakfast was under cooked and was told by the manager they had all tried the bacon and it was fine! So i told them to eat it!!!!

Very convenient for the ferry terminal. Maybe 10 minutes drive. Substantial hot breakfast available till 10..00am. Very comfortable beds. Very friendly and helpful staff on reception and around the hotel. Everyone greeted you with a "Good Morning" on our way to breakfast. Beware: Internet access in room is £15 and a 1 litre bottle of water is siting […] on the table for £3.95. A half litre of water can be purchased at reception for £1!! There is a £1 per night charge for the car park but if you get the ticket processed when you check in you can enter and exit as many times as you wish. We did not use the bar or restaurant, which seemed pricey but overall our stay was excellent value (booked at a big discount via Hotels.com) and very comfortable Mehr

great value for over night week end stay,which included breakfast. everything you wanted from a good hotel (one down side bar food very expensive) good location to get to but nothing nearby so for a night out taxis are the answer, good stay.

the staff were very helpfull and friendly ,the buffet breakfast was all you could hope for ,the entrance and bar area was welcoming . we were offered smoking or not, so picked smoking ,stayed in room no 173 ,this was basic and the bed was hard and squeaked whenever you moved ,spent 1st night on top of quilt ,but asked for another for the second night,but […] was still the same .no sofa bed as described ? so 2 rough nights . as this was a break away due to ill health I expected better for the HILTON? I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel having read some of the other reviews online. I got a good deal, two nights for the price of one with breakfast included and thought it was excellent value for money. The room was lovely, the bathroom was clean and the staff at the hotel were very friendly. There was no lift but the staff brought our luggage […] to the room. The breakfast was excellent and the restaurant staff were friendly and efficient. There's a nice gym too. All in all a nice hotel with good facilities that's close to local attractions. Mehr

Classy decor and happy, helpful staff greeted us as we entered the Hilton. Our room was top-notch, the hotel bar and restaurant well stocked (and the food is incredible!) Gym but no swimming pool, however vouchers are given on request to swim free at another hotel a few miles away. Hilton Portsmouth is located in an industry area, not particularly suited for vacations. If you are travelleling on buisness this is an ok hotel, but if you travel on vacation the nabourhood is not nice. This Hilton Hotel is the poorest of Hilton's hotels I have stayed in so far. It was old fashioned, medium level hotel. Not really what I was expecting […] from a Hiton Hotel. Portsmouth has a lot of shopping and cultural things to visit, so do yourself a favour and book your hotel within walking distance of the town centre Mehr
