Ramada Plaza- Akron, OH - Akron

The hotel was clean and very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The nite manager Brian was great he did everything he could to make our stay better. I was disappointed that every pop machine was empty and that there were no movie channels in the rooms.

We were on the 18th floor and the heater just blew cold air.

I got a king size bed room with a whirlpool tub.(for valentines Day) the tub didn't work.When I called down,they sent up a girl who pressed the button and said she didn't know what was the matter with it! I asked for a discount on the room,they told me they would only discount the room ten dollars.I will not be returning...

I am not usually very picky...but I was not happy with my stay at the Ramada Plaza in Akron. It was very hard to find, they only had a small temporary banner on the one side of a large downtown complex, the staff was less than helpful, the pool had murky/cold water, the "fitness center" was a joke, the restaurant closed before their posted hours and […] they didn’t have hot water. If you are only passing through briefly and need to be downtown, then this place works. If you want something nice with rooms that have been renovated in the last 20 years and a friendly staff, then I would look elsewhere. I stayed for 2 weeks for work and regretted most of it. That I could walk to work and therefor did not have to deal with traffic […] or bad weather was great, everything else left much to be desired. My first room was a double queen with their Sleep Number beds, I did not like them, though I guess that is not really a comment towards the hotel, having never slept on one before. So if you either do not move in your sleep or like the Sleep Number, great, they just aren't for me. So I moved rooms to an "not renovated room." The only difference in the rooms, besides going from a double queen to a non Sleep Number king was the sheets. The TV was just as crappy, 20 years old with maybe a dozen useful channels and furnishing and decorations from the 80s (the phones are even older) Staying for an extended time, the TV was the worst part really. You have USA, ESPN, ESPN 2, HBO, CNN, and the locals assuming it doesn't go out on you. So no TBS, no TNT, no Comedy Central, any many others, but those 3 bugged me most. While I can not say the staff was rude, they just were not real helpful. It can take several phone calls to get the front desk or room service to answer. I would be writing a good review about the room service until my last meal, when I found out that not only do they no longer have the New York Pastrami, but that they have just given be something else the several times I ordered it before. It certainly looked and tasted like Pastrami, but now, who knows, it draws into questions the quality and competence of everything Room Service does. I think though that Ramada has only recently bought this place, a lot of stuff still says or refers to it as The Akron City Centre Hotel. The room was very nice, very clean but the heater was not working properly. It wasnt until the next morning that the room was heated. Maintenence came and cleaned the filter and said that was all he could do and the front desk said the only had one other room available like the one I was using but it wasnt remodeled and hadnt been used in a while. Also […] there was a party with lots of noise and music that did not end until midnight. It would have been nice if the front desk informed the other guest of the party in advance. My overall experience was a good one, great location and a clean room. I would stay at this hotel again Mehr

I seen all the bad reviews but for the first time I booked my room anyways because it was the only hotel close to civic center. everyone was extremly friendly. The prices for the restaurant was cheap but the food was tasty. Bar was opened for us and bartender was also very friendly

.....the shower was ice cold, not a drop of hot water. The hotel staff did not ask how everything was, so I say it's safe to assume they already heard there fare share of complaints for the day. I put up with since it was just a one night stay. The hotel has a convenient location, but that's about it.

The staff do what they can but the owners have let this hotel go downhill. If you want heat in some rooms -Go somewhere else. If you want Hot Water-Go somewhere else. If you want food in a hotel (Limited hours) go someone else. There are worst hotels but many better ones in the Akron area.

lame and at times rude service at front desk. pool is freezing and dark. towels smell awful. room service is incapable of getting an order correct.

Christmas weekend the dining room was closed the pool was closed fitness center closed old tube tv desk about to collapse mold on the bathroom ceiling

Perfectly fine hotel to sleep and stay in - a little old and out of date but clean and comfortable.

This is a Downtown Akron business hotel. Yes I stayed there on the weekend, but aren't I entitled to the same quality of room I would get during the week. I feel like I was put in a "Weekenders" room. There were light bulbs missing from the lamps, the heater was fire or ice, they shorted us towels and the cable TV was hit and miss. Bottom line; simple […] maintenance counts, and it's so easy. None of these short comings would be expensive to fix. Mehr

My wife and I ended up searching the city of Akron for 20 minutes before finding the Ramada Plaza because the signage for it is not very conspicuous. We finally saw the vinyl banner above the doors next to the entrance of the parking garage. We were annoyed to discover the parking situation was a parking garage beneath the building that fortunately […] was free that weekend so we didn't have to pay to have our car parked there for two nights, though the maximum rate was quite reasonable. Guest rooms start at the 7th floor, which is the smoking floor. The pool is hard to find but its on the 20th floor. A lot of the information in the guide in the room was out of date even though it clearly had stuff whited out to update it. It has changed names several times apparently. The beds were fairly comfortable, the rooms were clean, the hotel has a nice, upscale feel to it but the prices were very reasonable. Mehr

The only reason we stayed at this hotel was because it had a bar/restaurant attached and since we had a bigger group of people it was a perfect meeting place. Well when we tried to meet at the bar, the bartender decided to close at 6:30 PM on a Saturday night because one of the customer's was mean to her. we went there to go see a band at rippers there was 6 couples that stayed at the hotel the hotel was fine but the bar service was awful we had one round tipped $20.00 went to get cleaned up and went back to the bar and she refused to serve anybody and closed the bar i think as a business owner it was very tacky and i also heard her in the back complaining […] about her job and people staying there we had to go down the road to have dinner and drinks Mehr

Though the hotel room was clean, we constantly found problems with it: the TV stand was rickety; the desk was close to collapse; and the faucet was broken. The "fitness" facility has not be updated since the 1980's and was hard to use due to neglect of the machines. They have a nice hotel restaurant but no place to grab breakfast except room service […] (which was expensive). The surrounding area was uninviting and I didn't feel comfortable leaving the hotel for meals. Mehr

The rooms were roomy and clean. The beds were very comfy. The staff was polite.

Very disappointed with my stay here for the price. The hotel is old and outdated with respects to the room appearance, the room was dirty, dusty, and had cobwebs.. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who likes to live in luxury..you will be sorely disappointed.

The entire place had an old musty smell. The front desk staff was not helpful in orienting me when I arrived and offered no help or cart for my luggage. The room was comfortable but could have been cleaner. There were no instructions on how to work the sleep number beds and I never figured them out. Strange situation with using your room key in the elevator to get off at your floor- the key wouldn't work sometimes and I spent alot of time riding in the elevator unable to get off at my designated floor. Fortunately, during this time I was able to find the 1 ice machine that worked. Overpriced- but close to my even […] t. Mehr

the unit was very loud and continually hummed and shut on and off loudly all night waking me up regularly. The staff also did the billing incorrectly with Hotels.com and it took a long to to straighten it out in the AM at checkout time.

This hotel was very nice overall. The bathroom could have been cleaner, but the Sleep Number beds were fantastic! Also, when booking through this website, the reservations are on a different computer system, so the front desk was quite confused when we checked in.

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. It is in a convenient location which is downtown and you are surrounded by eateries and a nice park. They have the beds that you can adjust, however I didn't know how to work them. It was quiet and the room was clean and comfortable and it was very reasonable. I would recommend the room to others.

Very clean hotel with comfortable sleep number beds. Room was a pretty good size. We rented a refrigerator for the night and the maintenance guy. It came up already cold so we could use it right away. And we were heading to the Italian Fest and he escorted us down to the parking deck and showed us the shortcut to Lock 3.
