Hilton Brighton Metropole - Brighton

I did have problem getting into the website and my room was not clean when I came back from ad day out. otherwise I was very very impressed with the size of my room. Breakfast was brillant.

We were given a room with no mini bar and no blacony despite it clearly stated in our booking details that this is what we were paying for. The room was old and small but comfortable.

The room was of a lower quality to rooms normally booked for that price. The room was clean but the phone did not work and I had no towels on the second day. The shower was not great - needs an upgrade. However, the staff were excellent and courteous and the breakfast was very good.

Staff really friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable and was one of the refurbished rooms although small. The air-conditioning didn't work very well so we had to keep the window open. Two people were staying in the room and just one shampoo conditioner and tiny shower gel had been left in the bathroom so we had to call for more. The Hilton in brighton is perfectly located for a night or day out in brighton. They also have a car park, which you have to pay for but Brighton is difficult to park in and expensive so highly recommend using the hotel car park. The room rate is competative for a hotel in theis location, but the condition of the rooms are tired and worn. The rooms […] are in desprate need of modernisation and redecoration. However, the rooms are very quite becuase of the solid walls so you should get a good nights sleep. Hotel Facilites are great, pool, gym, salon etc.. this you cannot fault. So if your looking for somewhere to stay in brighton its worth considering, but remember the conditon of the rooms before staying. Mehr

Very big room with a huge bed. The price is good if you book early. By the sea and close to everything you need to see! The entertainment system needs to be improved.

This hotel is rated 4* however, the initial room allocated for our stay was in terrible condition it had no air conditioning, the carpet was dirty, the walls and bathroom were dirty as well. The furniture was chipped and unsightly. Due to no air con the room was extremely hot and we were unable to open any windows as they had locks on them. Outside […] our windows was lots of scaffolding. This made the room dark and oppressive. After contacting reception about our concerns we were moved to a different room. Whilst this room was of a better standard it certainly wasn't what I consider to be 4* hotel, having worked for 2 in my career. This hotel is seriously in need of a refurbishment and I will not recommend them until it has had some attention. Mehr

The Hotel is in a very good location to everything you want to visit in Brighton, beach, pier shops etc., The hotel staff are always as friendly.

Had a great stay here on a weekend break. Choose it as it was close to the Brighton Centre and on the front, normally stay at the Thistle, but this is much much better. Used the pool, which was very warm ! Had a spa treatment, very good. We ate in the restaurant on the Fridsay evening and were treated to live singing which was lovely. This is the second time we have stayed at the Metropole, and it did not disappoint; it is right on the sea front and a few minutes walk from the Brighton Centre and the Lanes, and also quite close to the main shopping precincts, restaurants, night life etc. It is a lovely Victorian building with plenty of original features. The room was comfortable, […] with a decent sized ensuite. The breakfast was sumptuous - any amount of anything you want, including delicious fresh fruit. Omelette or fried egg is cooked to order. The dining room has lovely sea views. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The bar is very pleasant. Mehr

My second stay here, great location and lovely foyer area, unfortunately this time our room wasn't clean, only one bath towel for the 2 people, despite 4 phonecalls to have a second sent up. Heating broke so we had to make do with a fan and open windows all night - understandable as the hotel was fully booked this night. A compliementary brunch was […] offered after complaining, but we had just finished their excellent buffet breakfast, so unfortunately we had to decline. I would stay here again, I put this down to a one off unlucky experience. Mehr

No major complaints about the hotel but improvements in the following would have made our stay much more enjoyable. Our room had one window which looked out an enclosed area which was dark and full of scaffolding.I couldn't tell whether it was night or day and what the weather was like. Was mislead by reception about a dinner offer in the Windsor restaurant. […] It was paid for beforehand but I was charged for drinks that were included in the offer. Reception corrected the error when we checked out. Drink prices are not competitive enough. We used the Grand Hotel Bar bar the prices were cheaper. Service in restaurant a little slow, had to remind the waitresses several times to fullfil our requests. Car park prices are a little expensive but I must say they were cheaper than the Grand and Thistle for over night stays. Mehr

We had a family room and not only was it decorated beautiful, it was a very generous size room. Staff made my children very welcome esp with the Kiddie Welcome goodie which was met with delight. Staff were courteous and very helpful. I would definitely go back there again.

Have stayed there a few times and it has been fine, but, this time we were put on the sixth floor (I can't travel in lifts) and we were right above a cooling unit, which ran all night long and disturbed my sleep (thank goodness I had some ear plugs!). Hotel was very impressive, Staff were courteous, room was clean but we were alocated where there is onging repair outside the building cant open the curtain during the day as the workers can see us inside the room, there was no direct access from the car park,Gym was too small, airconditioning not working no exhaust, pool sauna, steam room and jacuzi […] are well maintained, nice buffet breakfast, dinner was superb,walking distance from the shopping center and Brighton Center.... Just had such a lovely 24 hours spacious room,lovely bathroom,wonderful leisurely breakfast,polite friendly staff in all departments.

We stayed in the hotel during Christmas holidays. Location is perfect at the sea front. Room was spacious, everything nice and clean. Certainly one can see that the hotel rooms were not upgraded in terms of equipment for a long time, but every appliance functioned perfectly. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel is family friendly.

not bad - but for some reason i had a room made for someone disabled, complete with a zimmer frame in the bathroom!

The hotel staff were very friendly and very helpful, the location of the hotel is on the seafront and 5 minute walk to the shops, so very well located in Brighton. The breakfast was very good.

This was supposedly a four star hotel. It was a shocker. The room was very small and absolutely the bare minimum that you might expect from say a two or three star hotel. Very tacky and cheap looking as well as old. On check-in my room had the bed made and the bedroom appeared tidied, but it still had someone elses dirty towels all over the bathroom […] floor. On closer inspection the bedroom also had rubbish from the previous occupant on the floor. No airconditioning and a horibly creaky cheap old bed made for a really bad nights sleep. I have slept in some bad hotels but this was the worst for a very long time! Mehr

Lovely hotel, great rooms and fab breakfast

Is was a great place to stay, we had booked only one night stay but got to Brighton early and asked if we could have 2 nights and it was no hassles at all. All the staff were very friendly and very helpful, especailly one young man at the Conceirge desk. Parking on the premises is a little expensive but not much parking anywhere on the streets, so it […] was worth it. Everything is in walking distance so there is no need to take the car around the city. Breakfast was beautiful and very reasonable as it had everything from toast to freshly cooked eggs to waffles and fruit. Mehr

I thought I was staying in one of the best hotels in Brighton but what a disappointment. Three of the four rooms booked were something out of the eighties and I don't think painted since then. I'm not sure how they have kept four stars other then they are going through a refurbishment. I would recommend that you insist on a new refurbished room if you […] want to stay. Mehr

Stayed with a group of friends for 2 nights. Very convenient location, on the waterfront, close to all the bars and restaurants and shopping area. Breakfast was delicious with a great selection of cold cuts, cheeses fruits etc. Bartenders and waiting staff very pleasant and friendly with lots of local knowledge. The hotel was close to all the main attaction, right across from the a very busy road from sea. Getting to the hotel was not easy, if you are self driving. We found the Hotel was not up to cost we had to pay. we stayed in our rooms the minimum time possible, becaus of the heat, in our room. Our section of the hotel was under resteration, so we had […] no ventilation, non at all. we met other guest and they all said the same. we did complain , they offered to change rooms, but we did say no, so its our fault, on hind sight we should have taken the offer. but in say so they should not place guist in a section of the hotel when its under reconstruction, and expect them to pay top price, Mehr

We loved Brighton and the Metropole is conveniently located. They've done lots of work to the common areas of the hotel but on our first night our rooms were on the first floor -- which is really the basement. Our kids room was fair, but my wife and I got the room designed for handicapped guests. It wasn't fit for anyone - able-bodied or not. The view […] was of pigeon poop and the room smelled. There was almost no furniture or decoration. The hotel was booked the first night so we were stuck - but they moved us to the second floor on our second night and the rooms were much better Mehr

The staff are particularly well-trained, polite and helpful. Only gripe is the exorbitant charge for WIFI where most hotels nowadays offer this service free.

We booked family rooms but they are very small with lack of wardrode and drawer facility for 3/4 people in a room. The double bed one of the legs was very loose but it survived our stay. The fridge did not work which they were aware of because it was empty, the air conditioning was not functioning properly. To top it all off we have scaffolding outside […] the windows on that side of the hotel and the workmen came at 8 a.m. The food was good as was the swimming facilities.and service from the staff. Up graded to a double on arrival (Booked Single). Room above kitchens so constant fan noice & TV was out of order. Asked to be moved. Someone eventually came (30 mins later) & moved me to a very small single on the top floor & not the double that I was offered at reception. Carpark was expensive at £16 even though barrier was broken & people where parking […] for FREE!!! Mehr

I stayed in this hotel for two days, the staff are excellent. However, I did have a number of issues: The hotel air-conditioning wasn't great and at times was too warm in the room to sleep. When eating at breakfast there was mould on the bread, which all we got was an appology. The swimming pool was out of action and we were not told until the end […] of our stay that they would have paid for us to go to another pool plus the taxi. I doubt I will book this hotel again. Nice hotel in great location on the front in Brighton. The room was large and comfy and breakfast was very nice. My only gripe was being charged a lot for 24 hrs internet accesss, the cost of drinks in the bar and the cost of parking in the car park Otherwsie the staff were helpful and did their best to make it a pleasurable stay

I HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THE CONCIERGE WHO MADE DECISIONS THAT I DID NOT ASKED AND AFTER ALL I DECIDED NOT TO USE ANYMORE HIS SERVICE AND TRYED BY MYSELF TO GET THE INFORMATION I REQUIRED

The reception was cluttered with people around the desks and it was unclear as to what system they were following. There should have been a member of staff in charge as it turned out that most of them were not in a line at all as there were vacant reception desks. I was offered an upgrade to a double room for £20 which was rather strange as it was obvious […] I was on my own. The single room was very pleasant; actually with a double bed pushed into the corner. I was pleased they had provided an extension lead which made it easy to plug in my charger, etc. There was no view from the windows and there were net curtains which hid the eyesore. The room had 2 windows and it was very hot so I tried to open them for some air. I managed to open one window by about 6 inches but the other one wouldn't budge. I couldn't see a temp control or A/C in the room. There were tea/coffee makings provided. There was also a bottle of water on the tray with a price tag of £3.95 which seemed outrageous to me. I thought I might buy some nuts from the mini bar but the door didn't open. The breakfast arrangement worked well with the dining room leading off Reception. Most tables had a sea view and a newspaper was on offer. The breakfast was buffet style and there was a choice. The hot food in the containers looked pretty unappetising but there was plenty of cereal, yoghurt, fruit, bread and one stand had someone frying eggs and pancakes on a griddle. The bathroom in the room needed updating. There was only one light over the sink; the sink itself was damaged, though functional. The bath taps were very stiff and difficult to turn and the shower had no markings to show hot/cold. I would stay there again but only if I got a really good price. Mehr

The price is like 4 stars, the hotel worst than bed & breakfast

Only had one night stay but the room was lovely only problem was no sea view the breakfast was first class could not have been better. overall a very enjoyable stay would use this hotel everytime . John

Service was exemplary. Bar and Dining areas and foyer are beautifully done out, very smart. Only downside was the bathroom - bath panels look like they're made out of cardboard, old & mis-matched tiles, marks and stickers all over bathroom fixtures - look over twenty years old and in desperate need of a re-fit. Expected more at the price paid.

Brilliant location and nice interior in reception, bar etc, car park underneath is very handy too and good price for hotel customers but the room was well in need of a total refurb as was the bathroom which was very tired and outdated, the lighting in the room was poor and the wallpaper pealing, the in room Internet also did not work but there was free […] wi fi in the bar. Despite this the room was clean and the staff very polite - room fine for a one night stay but no longer, would have expected better from Hilton Mehr

Hotel facilties & staff excellent. Room was let down by bathroom which was not clean, broken tiles, dirty grout & didn't reflect the overall standard of the hotel.
