hotel liegt in der /an der fussgängerzone, die allerdings links und rechts -. leider auch am hotel - von viel (auto)verkehr frequentiert wird --des weiteren befindet sich gegenüber dem hotel eingang ein veranstaltungsraum, der oft auch abend musikveranstaltungen hat - kurtzum, eine sehr laute umgebung... wirklich nur für eine nacht - notgedrungen

I am a Dominican American and I travel sometimes to my second home which is the DR. The Hotel Mecure was amazing, clean, nice sized rooms, food was exceptional and the staff was attentive and friendly. I would definitely stay here again in the future without a doubt. I was thoroughly impressed.

Great location, only a block from Parc Colon! Easy to walk to all the main sights in the Zona Colonial within just a few minutes. Wonderful breakfast bar. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Room was well maintained, although a little small and kind of plain.

The hotel is in a very good location. The food in the restaurant is very good. One problem I experienced in the room, one night I was awaken by little bugs crawling all over the room and in the bed. After a close investigation, I realized that they wre termites.

This is a great hotel. It is not like a European or American hotel but that is good. The rooms are clean but small, and nice but not fancy. Located in the scenic Zona Colonial zone -you can't beat the location. Lots of shops, bars and restuaruants the minute you step outside. I consider this hotel when of the best hotels for the price I have ever […] paid. Yes you will hear music and people -it's the Dominican. Don't think of it as a negative. Go join and join in on the fun. Music, dancing and celebrating is a huge part of their colture. Eveyrone that works their speaks great English. Mehr

I was satisfied with this Hotel. Stayed there two times, the first time they were really friendly and the room was superb! Second time, not so much ... we had to wait over an hour to get our room, but it was fair enogh. +1 for location! Great place to be in Santo Domingo, though you should consider traveling outside SD when in this country.

The overall accomodations are very good for the price, the staff is really pleasant and i enjoyed my stay

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION, The perfect place to stay. The administration has to pay more attention to the room cleaning service.

Highly recommend this hotel. The location is perfect! The staff is nice, great wi-fi connections in the room. The breakfast was an amazing buffet with plenty of food to go around. The cab ride is about $40.00USD and is locked in. Make sure the prices are agreed upon leaving the airport. Only two minute walk from the Hard Rock Café.

The rooms are not fancy but are clean & comfortable. Wifi is available for free. My only complaint is the breakfast which is included in the price of the room. The eggs are runny, the bacon over cooked, and the wait staff is rude. Skip the breakfast & you will be ok.

Hotel room was small - but for price paid it was worth it. Also can't beat the location in the center of the Colonial Zone. Was there for Business for spent little time in the room. It was cheap place to rest on a business trip.

It's not my style to degrade people business but this time I feel I got to said something about mercure hotel they need major improvement am not going to put them down to much because like I said it's not my style but I would not recommend to any of my friend to go there for now I'll prefer to stay at Napolitano which I enjoy the last time that's all […] I got to say if they want my business they to improve on all aspect especially the breakfast they serve in the morning no good at all. Upon check-in I was told that the room I was given would be changed the next day because of work being done on that floor.. The room was very small and smelled like mildew. The next day I stayed out all day to come back to the somewhat pleasant lady at the front desk telling me that the room was not changed due to the fact that I was not there!. I never […] heard of such. I told her that I would have a big problem if the room was not changed in the morn.. Day 3, the room was changed to a very nice standard sized room with no smell and was very comfortable. I would stay there again but would not be my first choice. If you are looking for great out of thier way service, your not going to get it..But when they finally got it right, I was satisfied. The free breakfast was ok also. Mehr

Staff were tolerable at best, rooms are not as nice as in pictures, Black mold every where, in rooms and in hallways, will stay at the renaissance hotel the next time..!

This hotel is clean and comfortable, and the price is right. I travel to the DR frequently for work and decided to try this place out. It was great. The rooms are small and basic, but the TV has lots of channels and there is free wi fi. The included breakfast is also very good with lots of fresh fruit etc. I'd definitely recommend this place.

I really enjoyed the Mercure. First its a good idea to stay on the El Conde street. Tons of stores and if your smart enough to walk around its not far from a market where Dominicans shop that is very reasonably priced and cool if you know how to bargain. Your right in the Colonial Zone and can spend several hours seeing the old buildings and sites. […] Not far from a line of bars and restaurant in both directions too. Ask around but watch out for stragglers forever asking for money. The only drawback from a very clean and friendly hotel is not much hot water but that s on par for most of the D.R. Convinient if you re not looking for comfort but poximity at quite a resonable price. It is located in El Paseo del Conde in the heart of the colonial city . We had 2 ROOMS They don t have separate beds so if you re noot a couple can be difficult. Rooms are small. Beds are not comfy at all the springs can be tough. The bathroom is even smaller and I […] had to jump over the john to get into the shower. HOT WATER is available A/C works GOOD. TV is Ok with international channels also. Thisplace was centrally located, right on the pedestian walkway. The staff was great and the place was clean and nicely decorated. Can't beat it for the money.

This hotel is very close to a ruins turist area, it is well mantained, small rooms but great cost benefit. No parking that I know of, but you better not drive in D. R. I would recomended if your on a low budget and if you like to walk in a very centric kind of zone.

This is a nice, comfortable hotel, right in the Colonial Zone, very close to the Catedral. The front desk staff was not friendly at all, but answered questions. The other staff at the restaurant were better. The hotel rate was much, much higher than what I was able to get at Hotels.com.

I truly enjoy the tropical feel of Santo Domingo and do return for visits. This was a first stay at this hotel and overall I would recommend on the condition that I had a room with stable water temperature in the shower and a thermostat that actually worked. The room was too cold and the system had to turned-off to increase the temperature. Housekeeping […] did their job, but as not being one who speaks Spanish, communicating with them was a strain. The wait staff for the dining area were top notch and catered to every need. Very professional with a hint of local interfacing. I loved where the hotel was located. In the heart of the Colonial city, right on the road that's lined in shops and everybody walks down. The hotel was clean and simple, just the way it should be. The breakfast was wonderful with lots of good fruit. I was very pleased with my stay there. I would stay again.

Fine location on the pedestrian street. Adequate room. Busy hotel with tourists and business folk. Generous breakfast. Very friendly helpful staff. Free (on street) parking. AC worked well.

The Mercure hotel is in a excellent location in the historic section of Santo Domingo. Close to dining and shopping, the hotel can be easily accessed throughout the day. The staff was incredibly helpful in meeting the customer's needs. The rooms were nicely decorated and quite welcoming. Over all this is a very good hotel, not luxury but very nice. The breakfast was generous and you couldn't ask for a better location! If you are a very fussy person maybe this isn't the place for you. But for me it was great, my room was perfectly dark and completely quite. This Hotel should not announce as one of their amenities WI-FI, it ws always down, never worked. The Hotel has no private parking and is very difficult to find parking in this area.

The hotel is really at a great location just a view steps away from the most important touristic things. the hard rock cafe is 1 minute away, the cathedral is right the hotel is on 'el conde'. when we entered the hotel it smelled like gas and in the elevator it had another weird smell, but it looked nice at least.. the check in was good, we had our […] room really fast, but once we entered our room it smelled really moist and disgusting, but we didn't change at first because we thought that all of the rooms were like that... but then we left to go out for dinner and when we came back there was water dripping down the ceiling in the bathroom and right at the bathroom door. so we went downstairs and got a new room .right away. that room was not as smelly, but once we turned off the AC and took a shower water was dripping down on us again when in the bathroom... we figured that part of it was condensed water from the AC, but it never stopped dripping which was horrible, especially when sitting on the toilet. we stayed there for 2 nights so we figured we'll just stay there and make the best out of it... the bed and everything felt humid which was really disgusting and when we left our clothes really smelled like the room for a long time but well... The breakfast was good and included in the rate which i really liked. the staff is so so, some were friendly some not so much... I would only recommend the hotel because of the location and because there are not many hotels around that area, but definitely not if you are used to really nice hotels and if you breathing problems, because the humidity and smell of mold doesn't help that at all... We had a short stay, but enjoyable. The hotel is located in the perfect spot in the Historic District, and an easy walk to the river area for dinner. Breakfast was very good. Very clean rooms, nothing fancy but all we needed, especially for the great price.

This is not a very nice hotel for the money. You're mostly paying for the location as it is in the heart of the Central Zone.

I stayed there for one night. I think the reviews here are pretty accurate. Clean room, very basic with a small TV, but clean and has everything you need. The bathrooms are really cramped but it's not a huge deal if you ask me. The service in the hotel is pretty bad. I was using the washroom when someone came to the door, I didn't answer until I heard […] someone using a key to come in so I had to jump out of the washroom and say I'm in here. The kid asked me if I used anything from the mini bar, to which I replied I am busy and asked him to come back later. He said it was just the one question, so I said yes I had a bottle of water. He asked me only the water, I concurred. From there he pretty much just walked into the room to double check, which kinda ticked me off. I went to have lunch at the restaurant in the hotel, asked a waitress if it was okay to seat myself on the patio, to which she said sure. I sat down, and was looking at all the foot traffic walking by in the beautiful neighborhood when I realized I still didn't have a menu. I went in and asked the waitress if I could have a menu please, she enthusiastically said yes. I walked back to my table, and a moment later she came out - without a menu - to ask me if I wanted something to drink. I asked for a Sprite, she then left and came back 5 minutes later saying there's no Sprite, only 7UP. Yes, 7UP is fine. She brought out the 7UP with a cheery smile, and then went back inside. I went back in to remind her of the menu I had requested and so she gave me one to walk back with. When I was ready to order I flagged her down, she then had to go inside to get a pad of paper to write down my order. Pad in paper in hand I told her I want a tuna sandwich, which she actually wrote down. One other thing that I found disconcerting, when I checked out I had to pay for that bottle of water which was 150 pesos clearly marked in the room. Loved the nearness to shooping and historical areas. The breakfasts were very good and the staff were very helpful. Would recommend this hotel and will plan on staying there again on my next visit!

Staff was accomodating, the breakfast buffet was very good, the rooms were clean, but a little stuffy, there was a dog outside my daughter's room that howled and yelped loudly all night and she got no sleep! My room was very quiet, bad luck for her, but it highlights how close and stuffy this hotel was.

I was very impressed by this hotel! It was clean and comfortable and close to all the sights & ruins in Santo Domingo. It was much nicer than I expected for the price! Good inexpensive food, free WiFi and breakfast.. All made my stay excellent. The best thing about this hotel is the service! I didnt expect too much and my expectations were definitely exceeded as the hotel proved to be better than advertised. The staff was helpful, friendly, the room was clean and comfortable and all for a reasonable price.

I stayed in a few places while in the DR. This was the worst hotel of them all. I would stay at the Nicolas de Ovando if I were going back today. It was one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in and would be my first and only choice if traveling back to Santo Domingo.

This hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. The location couldn't be better; it's right in the heart of the colonial zone and is a few blocks from many restaurants, shops, and everything worth seeing. My only complaint would […] be the water pressure in the shower was pathetic, and the water temperature varied wildly from freezing to scalding in a matter of seconds. Also do not purchase anything in the minibar in the room. The prices are outrageous; there is a grocery store just a few blocks away where you can buy bottled water for about 20 cents and candy bars for about 35 cents. Finally, the service was exceptional.
