Great Location - But a lot left to be desired. Internet - I could connect to the internet in the lobby area, but not in my room. I contacted customer support, who told me, "We will send a technician, but you will need to go to another section of the hotel to use the internet." That was unacceptable to me. Parking - Parking spaces are very small, so […] small that regular sized vehicles do not fit into them. Additionally, handicapped spaces were not used as designed. We had a handicapped family member in our party. We were told to park in the handicapped spaces incorrectly in order to get more vehicles parked in the two handicapped spaces. Carpet was filthy. The parking lot to the hotel was unsafe. The pool and spa need a huge maintenance. Overall, I will never return to this hotel.

Really conveniently located. Very comfortable and nice rooms. Good pool and Jacuzzi, staff was very helpful. Definitely recommend it to anyone. Not Bayside.....No view except from the top floors. I looked out on a parking garage. Still, a good deal and

Although the staff was very attentive to our dissatisfaction and tried to accomidate us, I was not happy ! I wanted a room with a view / smoking and got the first floor /non smoking/ we were moved to a 4th floor room with a view of the parking lot!which brings me to my next issue, the slots for the cars to be parked were very narrow and there was constant […] fear are car or the car next to us wopuld get scratched !! and getting out, was very difficult close to imposible without some one there to help !! I wan't very happy with Bay Side Inn Expecially with what we payed for each night !!! I believe we should have looked around more!!! Mehr

Nice hotel and good value for money. Clean and well maintained. Friendly staff.

The hotel is well placed for walking to see the San Diego sights. It is basically "5 minutes everywhere". Nice staff and decent quality rooms, just what you need.

The hotel was conveniently located for our needs. Unfortunately one of two elevators was being over-hauled. This actually resulted in a fire alarm activation and closure of the one remaining elevator-no fault of the fire dept. We had to use the stairs to our 9th floor room. the TV was very poor and the refrigerator did not work at all, The beds were […] clean and comfortable. The bathroom was small, but well supplied. I stayed here in June for a convention for 6 nights. My room was located on the 5th floor facing an elevated parking lot and far you could see a bit of ocean. The hotel and the room have aged but are well taken care of and clean. It was pretty quiet and I slept well in the quite good beds. They do offer free breakfast which is nice, quality and selection […] is "ok". Location depends if you have a car. If yes you'll be everywhere soon, if no you'll do many taxi rides (around 8 USD to the convention center or Gaslamp Quarter). For the low price paid it was very good. If a bit more comfort is required I'd recommend a class up. Mehr

Nice rooms. Convenient and reasonable parking. Within walking distance to Maritime Museum, Midway Museum and Seaport Villiage. Hope both elevators are working if I should decide to stay there again.

My husband and I recetly stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Great hotel, great location but best of all was the service we received. We'd definitely go back.

Location just a few blocks from lots of restaurants and entertainment. Quiet and safe. Great breakfast and pool area. Only negative was the power was off for maintenance and we had to walk up twelve flights of stairs in a dark stairwell with only the emergency lights on.

This hotel has 3 stars and that cannot be possible. A 3 star hotel is like a Double Tree or Radisson like hotels,com says a 3 star is and thats why I booked here. I quickly learned a 3 star is not a Best Western. Awful experience. Only 1 elevator and the has to be at least 2 or 3 hundred rooms and about 15 floors!!! It took at least 20 min every time […] we wanted to take the elevator. The other 2 were broken. We ordered pizza from a flyer in the room and it was awful and they tried to rip us off. Oh and the "breakfast buffet" was the worst of all. Everything was cold and very generic. The bare minimum was provided we only ate there once. I paid over one hundred per night. Sooo not worth it. My fiancee and I recently stayed at the Best Western Plus Bayside Inn in San Diego for two nights in a non-smoking King with a balcony. GOOD POINTS 1) The staff were very friendly. During check-in they made us aware that one of the elevators was undergoing maintenance and apologized ahead of time for the potential delays (there weren't any really, […] just a lot of stops on the way up and down). 2) The room was spotless! (Even the carpet!) 3) Little Italy is just around the corner (there happened to be a festival during our stay) and the train station/trolley stops are a few blocks away (there are trains to shore locations). 4) There are several restaurants to choose from nearby (almost too many!). 5) The harbor is incredibly close and makes for a pleasant walk. 6) The continental breakfast included scrambled eggs, potatoes, oatmeal, cream of wheat, cereal, as well as pastries, fresh milk and tea, coffee and variety of juices. A really nice spread. 7) The self-parking was in a covered-lot adjacent to the hotel. 8) Our price was incredibly reasonable for the service and condition of the hotel. 9) The view from the balcony was great (as opposed to another wall, which we've had before!). BAD POINTS 1) Not in walking distance from the Zoo (which is huge, by the way) or any other Balboa Park attraction. But, as I said, the trolley stops are very close (there is a free shuttle service around Balboa Park once you get there). 2) The self-parking is $10 per night's stay at the hotel. This isn't really a bad point for me as city parking can be very expensive, but it is an additional expense if you have a car. OVERALL Our stay here was very pleasant and we would recommend this hotel to anybody visiting San Diego. TIPS There is a fantastic hole-in-the-wall Mexican food joint called "Taco Express" two blocks around the corner from the hotel on State Street. Hotel is located in a business district and not far from the bay. Room was comfortable and clean. The only downfall was the elevator. They have two but only one was working and it took forever to get on with everyone using it. Using the stairs would have been fine but someone had to unlock the door fo you to use them. A basic hotel at good location for reasonable price

This Hotel advertises free shuttle to and from cruise terminal as well as airport. It took forever to get someone to answer phone at hotel and then twice as long to get someone to pick us up. Very unorganized. Also make a note that their shuttle service is ONLY available from 7 - 11 daily. Hotel room had a clogged sink and for 2 people they gave us […] one bath towel. This hotel was in a good location, included breakfast, had wifi Internet for free also. The breakfast was good, the Internet was a little slow. The problems experienced during my stay were there was only one elevator working so it took forever to get to your room. I guess it is normal maintenance and should be over soon. Another issue was the noise. […] It is extremely noisy as the street is narrow and everything echos. would not stay there again due to the faqct the was one working elevator, bathroom sink was backing up on both days we were there and a personal note I thought the toilets were a little low to the ground. On a good note we were on the 14th floor and had a amazing view of the city.

The location of the hotel was in walking distance to little Italy and close shops. The breakfast they offered was better than expected. Not only coffee and muffins but hot foods also such as pancakes and eggs. The room was clean and functional.

I was very pleased with the staff and how we were treated --- but there was only one of the two elevators working. The other one was being repaired -- and from what I understand it has been in repair for some time. It was very inconvenient when we went to leave as the only elevator seemed to be in constant use and we had a very long wait in order to […] take our luggage down. Rooms are up to date and clean as you would expect. Things worked except for balcony door. Breakfast was just OK. Best thing is the location. Walk to Balboa Park, the waterfront, Gas Lamp and get on the trolley tour nearby. No need for a car for 3 days. Shuttle bus very good - you must call from the airport. Front desk quite helpful. Good value

The location of the hotel is good, very close to the harbor and ship terminals, public transportation; however the property itself is old. At the time of check-in, i was told that all two elevator was out of order. I was lucky just staying 2nd floor, I wonder how the rest of the customer got all the way up to the 14th floor. There was only one elevator […] in service through out my 3-day stay, and it's extremely slow. Complementary internet connection was provided but reception was at minimal to nonexistence. Comfortable rooms. Breakfast included. Good service from nice staff. Parking only for $10/day, though you could easily find parking on the street. It's a safe area. Great location. My husband and I went to San Diego for a getaway weekend and this hotel fit the bill perfectly! Compared to other hotels in the area it was a great deal. Breakfast was included and in addition to the usual continental breakfast fare there was always scrambled eggs and fried potatoes. We had a beautiful view of the bay from our 8th floor room. Only downside to our stay was that they were working on one elevator so that left only one in service and in the mornings the wait could be quite long. The elevator was not working, and the hotel management really did not care if we had to walk up 7 flights of stairs. The front desk clerk was rude and inconsiderate..

The lobby and public areas of this hotel are what you would expect from a BW, but the rooms are recently updated and quite a pleasant surprise. The location is a short walk to Civic Center, three blocks from Little Italy for interesting dining, close to trolley and 20 minutes from convention center. While not luxurious, it is a pleasant surprise.

Our stay at the Best Western Bayside was very enjoyable. The staff was very helpful at every turn. Elevator maintenance made for a long wait from time to time but both elevators should be availabel again this Spring. The hotel is in a good location, easy walk to just about anything downtown. We would stay there again.

We needed a room for a few days near to the Amtrak station, the harbour area, transport links and the city centre. The Best western ticked all the boxes. the room was relatively spacious, bed okay, indeed we got what we expected. All we needed was a base to travel out on day trips from. Staff were fine, room clean. There was a complimentary breakfast […] which was, I guess, a bonus (not everywhere gives you that) although it was hardly astounding. VERY NICE HOTEL. GOOD VARIETY FOR THE CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST. FRIENDLY STAFF. REASONALBLE PARKING FEE. NEAR EVERYTHING WE WANTED TO DO AND SEE. ONE DRAWBACK, THE SAFE IN THE ROOM WAS NOT WORKING. THEY TRIED TO FIX IT TO NO AVAIL. MY HUSBAND AND I WOULD DEFINITELY STAY THERE AGAIN. LITTLE ITALY WAS JUST AROUND THE CORNER WITH GREAT RESTAURANTS AND SHOPS. […] WE COULD WALK TO THE BAY TO GET ON THE BOAT TO WHALE WATCH. WE DID NOT NEED OUR CAR FOR ANYTHING ONCE WE PARKED IT. I got a 12th floor room facing the city (east). Room was clean and bed was comfortable. I used the fridge to cool my drinks and it works just fine. A slight hum from central cooling but it's tolerable. I was there for a week but did not use any of the daily cleaning service by preference, but I was given anything I asked for - soaps, towels, etc. Old […] school CRT in the room but watchable. High pressure water for hot showers. I took advantage of the complimentary shuttle to the airport (5-10 min) - a nice feature for me. Wireless was terrible in my room but works fine at the lobby. This was our fourth visit to San Diego in four years. This was our first visit to the Bayside Inn, and this is where we will stay in the future. The location is perfect. The room was clean and spacious enough to include a comfortable couch. The bed was wonderful.
