Aghadoe Heights Hotel and Spa - Killarney

We were given a connecting room, 405 , which turned out to be very noisy , had we known about the noise level we would have asked to be moved , but we were only there for 1 night . . We spoke to the Manager about it the next day and he was very aploogetic . As a suggestion ajoining rooms should not be given to couples on there own . Stayed here for one night recently. The staff and welcome are amazaing and could not be more friendly or warm. From Reception, to the excellent Barman (Shane) it was real warm Irish hospitality as it sould be. Unfortunately the rooms are failry basic and a little cheap looking. At leas the Garden view room was, maybe the lake view option is nicer. We […] had a good B&B rate and were only staying for one night so we didn't mind. But I would not fancy paying 5 start prices for a 3 star room. The view from the dining/Bar is beautiful and it's a lovely place to sit and enjoy a drink or a leasurily Sunday morning Breakfast. hi all my stay was fine but for a 5 star hotel it didnt seem that great . i upgraded my room to a suite as it was advertised that the room had a surround sound system (that didnt work) and also it advertised a sound system in the bathroom (also did not work) otherwise it is a lovely spot . i dont want to sound bad about this but when you pay extra for […] these luxuries it defeats the purpose of upgrading and spending that much more extra . my wife used the spa and thought it was brilliant my overall stay was good and would stay there again . The view of town and lakes is unlikely to be matched anywhere in the world. Really enjoyed the view on a cloudless moonlit night. Very romantic!!!

I have not got a clue how this place has a 5 star hotel rating. We were travelling down the west coast of ireland and had just previously stayed in the G hotel in Galway, it was laughable to compare the two '5 star' hotels. Aghadoe may have been a 5 star as some stage, but certainly isnt now. The room was just about the standard you would get in a 3 […] star hotel. Extremely hard bed (two singles together), bad pillows and a broken toliet. There was also a door to the room next door where we could hear everything that was going on with the occupants next door, their tv, conversations etc. We were baffled to be honest. The two redeeming qualities that the hotel had were that it had fantastic restaurant and breakfast. Top quality. We aslo spent the day in the Spa, it was quite good, not the best ive been in. Mehr

First time staying in this hotel, was looking to stay in the Killarney area but out of town, so the location was great with scenic views. The hotel is maintained very well as are the rooms, very comfortable. Though I was in a ground floor room so couldn't see any of the views of the lake. My biggest issue is the rooms have no tea/coffee facilities, […] which should be standard in any hotel, the morning I checked out I had a long drive and having skipped breakfast I would have appreciated being able to have a nice cup of coffee to get me going before leaving, instead I picked one up at a nearby garage on the way. In addition my room had poor wi-fi coverage and no cable was provided for the connection point, lucky I bring a cable everywhere but I'd recommend to everyone if your traveling for work and need internet bring your own cable. A second issue as you would expect from five stars would be the facility to rent a film through your TV, this wasn't available but instead a selection of dvds could be hired from reception to which I was given the response most are scratched, so I ended up going to the bar both evenings whereas the option of retiring to my room with a film I would have liked the option. The food and drink was excellent, very high standard with quick service, however the staff need to be a bit more knowledge about wine to answer questions and also rather than trying to get the food out as quickly as possible and move on to the next table of customers a bit of friendly conversation was lacking, food was served in such a hurry at times with no acknowledgement or question of do I need anything else? Lastly over both days I requested newspapers, 2 specific UK papers which I found in the town center of Killarney afterwards, both days I received only 1 paper, a different one each day, and on the first day it took until 2/3pm to get it. Spent 2 nights recently. Very disappointed with room. Didn't feel like 5-star....little touches missing, bathroom tiny, shower in bath to name but a few. Oldish lady in reception not very helpful either. Nice guy called David did upgrade us on 2nd night, however view from here was of rusty roof and neglected garden furniture! We almost didn't want to leave our very comfortable (and quite large) room -- the views of the lough and mountains outside the large windows and spacious balcony were breathtaking and seemed to change every two minutes. But luckily we did leave and enjoyed some very good food and a relaxing massage. Another plus, the hotel, nicely situated away high […] above the tourist hubbub of the town, offers a shuttle bus (door to door in our case!) for a short 10 minute ride into town. Very helpful and friendly staff -- they offered college advice to my daughter and this indisputable explanation for why so many of the staff were from the local area. "Why would anyone ever want to leave Killarney?" A stay at this hotel will certainly have you agreeing wholeheartedly with that! Mehr

the hotel was dated inside and out. it was verkooking a graveyard,the decor in the rooms was depressing. the tv was old, the writing on the butttons of the remote control was so used it was blank. the double bed was two single beds put together( so uncomfortable). there was no tea or coffee making facilites in the room. the spa was closed when i wanted […] to make a booking as they had a product launch and it was for vip guests only, we were not made aware of this upon booking.the leisure facilites were even more diasapointing for a 5 star, a very small pool with no steamroom or sauna. the one good thing i have to say about this hotel is that the food and the staff were 5 star , the staff were very friendly and attentitive Mehr

We were expecting a spa hotel however the ambiance of the hotel was more suited to a traditional Irish hotel. For a five star hotel, we were disappointed by the quality of the room and the facilities provided. On a more positive note, the staff and food were exceptional.
