Los Abrigados Resort And Spa - Sedona

Older, and not up to par for cost, in my opinion. Wireless internet access was absolutely terrible! Upgrade desperately needed.

Grounds are lovely. Room very clean, large and everything worked. Bedroom decor and bathroom were dated and nothing special. Bed very comfortable. Quiet room. Central location, easy to walk to many places. Had partial view of red hills, but did not spend much time in room.

We had a great time! The hotel was very close to several resturants and shops. We loved the access to Oak Creek and the on site activities. The spa was fantastic. We could picture bringing our family there some day.

The staff was great and friendly, they were very helpful with all my questions and check in was fast. The other reviews are correct in that the hotel needs updating badly... We were given an updated room, but it did not look or smell like it. I did enjoy the spa, but again the sauna, steam room and hot tub need to be renovated. The grounds are beautiful […] and we loved that it is behind Tlaquepaque and we didn't have to drive much for the weekend. Mehr

We went to Sedona after our wedding as our "mini-moon" since my new husband and I couldn't take the full week off of work. Los Abrigados was a lovely timeshare property in a great location. At check in, our front desk attendant was nice, but nothing special. We spoke with a nicer lady at concierge a couple of times for restaurant suggestions and to […] help book our Pink Jeep Tour (highly recommended, especially for first timers to AZ or Sedona.) We were in a one-bedroom suite with balcony and tiny kitchenette. The bed was very comfortable.. however the pillows were too big/fluffy for my liking. The couch was a little hard to lounge on. The property was beautifully landscaped and partly on Oak Creek that you could access. Also featured a couple Gazebos and a children's activity area. Since it's a timeshare, there were daily activities (some free) but we did not attend any. Overall we had a lovely time! Mehr

Comfortable and peacefully

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel, and it was good value for the money. The rooms are large and clean, with only the furniture and bathroom below 4 star level. The bed and linens were new and comfortable. There was a nice little kitchen with a full sized fridge, a two burner stove and sufficient pots/pans/plates for 2-4 people. The place positions itself […] as a semi-fancy resort, but it has few of the amenities. There is one restaurant, which is a sport bar. Not resort quality, but ok. There is no room service unless you are there for 4 nights. Laundry service? Here's your quarters and the machines are in a little shack across the resort. The checkin process was brutal. There were only 3 people in line in front of me, and 15 minutes later there were still 3. It took about 25 minutes to get checked in, and even at 3:30 pm, they didn't have a room for me. Checkin is 4:00 PM. So we all lined up again at 4:00 and finally got checked in. The location is truly central, right at the Sedona "Y". This was a running vacation for me, and I ended up not bothering to get a red rock pass, instead just leaving the car at the resort and doing all my runs from the room. One day north along Schnebly, one day south towards the chapel and bell rock, and one day west around thunder mountain. And the large, well maintained hot tub was a very welcome treat to soak the sore muscles each evening :-) Mehr

We’ve stayed 2 nights and had the best time ever! Great facilities – heated pool w/ Jacuzzi open until late at night (so you could sit in the pool and look at the stars), spa and restaurant on site and walking distance to many restaurants and shops in Sedona. We got a “room with a view” of the mountains on a second floor with a balcony and our suite […] was nice and clean; very comfy beds. If you up for eating in the room they offer a fully stocked kitchenette with dishes and pots for you to cook. I would definitely stay again and highly recommend to anyone looking for a great stay. We stayed a week in Sedona over spring break and we loved our stay at Los Abrigados. The photos do not do the grounds justice - they are beautiful and meticulously kept. We had a suite on the lower level and it was perfect with children, because we could open the door and let them run around in the courtyard. There are BBQ grills around the common […] areas and we were able to grill outside most nights and avoid the somewhat disappointing restaurants. The hotel is in a wonderful part of the city and is conveniently located. There are two swimming pools, both of which are kept in the 82-85 degree range year round. The photos simply do not do the place justice. I also found that the bartender by the main pool makes delicious, strong, albeit expensive cocktails. As for some cons: Yes, they sell timeshares, but they only gave us the pitch once when we first arrived. They also only send housekeeping once a week, which is ok if you go in with that expectation. I only wish they would stock the rooms with more cleaning supplies so we could keep things tidier ourselves. Our bed was not very comfortable, but I admit that I am very picky about that sort of thing. Also the Wireless Internet, while free of charge, does not have a good signal everywhere, so you might not have Wi-Fi in your room. I found that my AT&T phone had a fast data connection, though. Also in this day and age, a hotel room should have some conveniently accessible outlets. Thankfully I always include a small power strip in my travel kit. If you like to grill, you appreciate lush and varied landscaping, you like parks and swimming pools, you don't care if someone asks you about a timeshare once or twice, and you're not a slob, you will have a great stay. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights ,the place is just wonderful,we will be going back next year. Make sure you eat at there restaurant, best pizza and chicken wings I have ever eaten. If you are looking for a place to stay in sedona look no further thisMy is the place to stay.....

Pro: Large clean suites, apartments really. Very comfortable, with well equipped full kitchens. Except for that and no views, the place was fine. the facilities are a little tired, but the new owners are making improvements.

Our visit to Sedona was enjoyable and the Los Abrigados was a good choice for a family to stay. We stayed in a one bedroom condo, furnishings were nice, nothing fancy. We enjoyed the outdoor putt putt course and the large chess board was fun for my son to play. Nicely maintained property, I would stay here again.

Our reservations got mixed up and instead of a regular king room they were going to give us two full beds. I said that isn't what I reserved and the young lady at the desk excused herself for a few minutes and said the only king they had left was a suite room and she cheerfully said we could have it for free. Great customer service but the resort rooms […] need updating and the concierge was a little pushy about listening to their sales pitch. It was clean but the bed was to hard. I was disappointed upon arrival. We booked 2 bedrooms (king + 2 double beds - describled in Hotel.com); however, when we arrived at 6:00, our room was not available. They gave us the last disability room with 2 king beds. They told us that 'first come first serve' as they don't hold the room based on the reservation through hotel.com booking. They only […] hold your room if book through their rental office. The room was spacious due to disability structure; however, this room must have been idle for some times (the bathtub filled with dust). The resort is good. In and out door heated pools, gym etc... but we didnot have an opportunity to use it as it closed too early. Saturday closed at 9:00PM and Sunday closed at 6:00PM. Location is good. Front desk was friendly and try to make us happy (since they cannot give us our booking room). Overall the room was good (kitchen, living room, bacony are very nice). Nice view, It would have great if we can sleep on the bed instead of roll away and sofa bed. Mehr

Once every three days for fresh towels and housekeeping seems a bit awkward. For an additional charge, you can have more towels, and an additional housekeeping service. Rooms are nice but can use an update. Fitness room and group exercise classes are the special highlights for an extended stay. An outdoor pool is a bit challenging in Mid February. […] Very pleasant staff and surroundings. Mehr

This hotel was very nice and beautiful! We loved the Spa (hot tub) for the cold evenings. The restaurant meals we had were very satisfactory. The only problem we had is that by booking online we didn't get the room that was described in the print out received from Hotels.com. Have stayed at Los Abrigados many times and have found everything to be in good order. The Resort is located within walking distance to many places of interest. The pricing for the accomodations is current with other resorts, however I feel there should be more consideration on rates for frequest users of the resort.

I used to be an owner here and loved it. Now, they've closed two restaurants and there is no breakfast available on site. Our room was nice....looking. But sleeping was another story. With the thermostat set for heat, the room would go from cold, to hot, to cold, everytime the heater was on or a few minutes after it was off. plus, when the heat kicked […] on, boy was it loud. And lastly, the next morning, we were awoken by a lot of noise above us. Could have been the inhabitants above, hard to tell, but it continued from 6:30am until we left around 10:30. It could have been staff too. All in all, not an enjoyable stay for what used to be one of the premier resorts in Sedona. No way would I recommend staying more than a night, can't imagine a time share owner staying the week, well, except for the view in that area. Oh, and when I mentioned the noise and heating discomfort, all I got was a 'sorry' from the front desk, not that they could do anything, maybe I was looking for a little more interrogation into what my complaints were. We were extremely disappointed in the condition of the hotel. Old, worn out, and dark. Needs complete refurbishing. Very outdated.

Great stay, great service, great location. I would highly recommend booking a massage with Sue @ the spa.

We were not told that there would be no maid service for our stay of three days. Asked Monday evening for extra towels, they never came. Told front desk the next morning and they arrived sometime during the day. Furniture was all jammed into one corner of a large room. Carpet in bedroom was dirty. Decor needs updating. from the lobby of the hotel it looks as though you are staying at a pretty fancy place but the rooms are very outdated and ugly. The is nothing appealing about old bathrooms and dated decor. The location is nice and the city of Sedona makes you easily stay away from your hotel. Overall, if the hotel invested in their rooms to match their lobby, it'd […] be a great spot. Mehr

.My sisters and I stayed for 1 night to help celebrate my cousin's b-day (they were staying for 3 nights). We drove up from Phoenix and were able to check-in early, thus it let us begin the birthday celebration right away. The front desk was efficient and courteous. We reserved 1 room, 2 bed suite and were upgraded to a 2 bedroom without any additional […] cost. The hotel is a little dated, however I understand the new owners are upgrading the facility. Nice place and closer to everything, I would stay again

We stayed at Los Abrigados in early December 2011, The staff was very nice and the grounds are well maintained. During winter they have a xmas light show than spans the majority of the grounds and is definitely worth going to. The only downside to our stay was the hot tub. The hotel says they are open until 10pm, but when we went at 9:20 they were locked […] (both nights). We called the front desk and asked that they unlock the gatem they refused and said we would go to the main pool. Since it was below freezing out and we were on the opposite side of the resort we thought this was an unacceptable answer. Other than that our stay was great and the staff was helpful. Mehr

We stayed at the resort for one night and really enjoyed our stay. The resort is conveiniently located with lots of shops and restaurants. Everything is in walking distance. The only complaint we had was that the room seemed to have been a smoking room at one time and still smelled like stale smoke.

We really enjoyed our stay! The staff was very friendly and the location was superb. The kitchen was well-stocked. The room was a little out-dated, particularly the bathroom fixtures. We enjoyed the free mini-golf onsite.

1. Received handicap room as requested, check-in was easy. 2. Location of room was in a separate building which we liked with a reserved parking space. 3. The room was old and had not been updated as other rooms, carpet was worn and extension cords were used for TV, refrig., microwave, and coffee maker. 4. TV reception was terrible - continually dropping […] the signal. 5, No Internet access. 6. Shower controls were criptic. 7. Heater was noisy and ran all night - thermostat controls were ignored - set for 70, room was 76 when we left the next morning. 8. Perfect location! It was in walking distance to a lot of restaurants and shops. There was a lot to do on the property-- mini golf, horseshoes, tennis. The rooms were clean and met our expectations (except the hideous headboard). I liked the kitchen and dining area as well. The hotel grounds and pool area were also very clean and nice. We were nervous […] about being hassled to buy a timeshare but that never happened. Had we visited the concierge, we might have received the sales pitch. I was only disappointed with three things: 1.) The internet connection was horrible to non-existent and very slow (the one time we got a signal with the laptop). My iphone and ipod couldn't even pick up a Wi-Fi signal at all!!! 2.) If we drove our car in the evening (to go to dinner), by the time we came back, parking spaces near our room were already filled. We had to drive to the other side of the resort in order to find a spot. 3.) The headboard on our bed was ugly and outdated. Aside from that, we would definitely visit the resort again! Mehr

We had a very nice stay at Los Abrigados during the week between Christmas and New Years. The Christmas light displays were beautiful. We arrived at 1:30 pm and were able to check in early. I was there with an elderly parent and the hotel staff provided us a ride (in their golf cart) from our room to the restaurant so my mom didn't have to walk down […] the hill. That gesture was greatly appreciated. Mehr

The location is great, close to everything. The place is outdated, though and needs some rennovation. It's great value if you are around to explore the area. We got a suite, which was great since we didn't want to drive around to eat in restaurants - we got a fully equipped kitchen and Safeway is close by. The concierge we encoutered was horrible - […] she suggested we go to a movie rather than help us explore the beautiful area!!! Wifi was free, but very slow. If you're not too picky, it's a good value at great location. Mehr
