came into town for business but stayed for weekend. Hotel was very clean and the staff was friendly and attentive. Overall great location and value.

Quaint, charming, and the staff were extremely kind and very helpful. Loved having the fire built or me at nighttime. Nice touch on a chilly evening!

This was the second time we stayed in this hotel. We won't be staying again. This room, unlike the previous room, was dominated by a stairwell (don't ask). The room was cramped, hot and stuffy, The air conditioning wasn't on yet...no problem...but the window had to be held open by a stick and there was no screen outside. Also the security lock didn't […] work on the door. Finally, it took forever for the the front desk to respond to our concerns (likewise not he earlier trip we had to make several requests to get our request addressed). On plus side...great bed, great linens, great location. Yet...to repeat...we won't be staying again. Mehr

Outstanding location, great restaurant upstairs, nice authentic NM decor. Only downside is small bathroom.

It was the fireplace (and the fact that they had someone come in to build a fire at our request) that really hooked us. Even without the fireplace in our room, the hotel is recently renovated and was in great shape. The staff were friendly and the downtown location was very convenient for exploring Santa Fe. We loved it!

Loved it! Loved it! An historical hotel right on the plaza in Santa Fe. Recently updated w/ the assist of local artisans. Lovely. Close to everything. the room was charming w/ a wood fireplace. Decorated in the NM style. They offered to have someone come to start the fire for us. The restaurant has been added and uses local ingredients. Delicious. Staff […] was very friendly and helpful. Charming old hotel, conveniently located. Pleasant staff. We had reserved the room a week in advance, tried to check in around 4:00pm, were told 15-20 minutes, tried again at 5:15 and were finally able to occupy the room at 5:30pm.

My husband and I stayed at this property when it was the Hotel Plaza Real close to 10 years ago. We decided to try it again and found the name had changed and assumed it was under new ownership. We were pleasantly surprised that all the things we liked about the property - boutique property, great room layout, amazingly comfy bed, wood burning fireplaces, […] and just off the plaza, makes this a real gem. And the staff was all very friendly and helpful. My only complaints (although very minor) were in the room. It appears there was a facelift to the room and a few holes / nails remain where fixtures / pictures were moved. It's the little details...... We will DEFINITELY be staying here again! Mehr

The location and charm of the hotel can't be beat! However, it's a bit difficult if you are traveling with luggage and have a room on the second floor that is not accessible by elevator. Our fully loaded trolly with family gear was difficult to get in and out of the elevator from the parking garage and once in the court yard we had to unload the trolly […] and walk everything to the room. Somewhat difficult with an infant. The room was very nice, clean, etc. My one complaint would be that it was very drafty - which made for an interesting night with an infant. The next night we were able to obtain a space heater from the front desk. Staff at this hotel were very nice and will recommend good restaurants in the area (all staff suggestions correlated nicely with well reviewed restaurants on the internet). The room was so hot we had to sleep with the window open and we were on the ground level. The screen wasn't locked and actually protruded out. The next morning there were footsteps in the snow up to our window. We tred every adjustment on the the thermostat.

Loved the hotel. We stayed when they had just changed their name which made finding it quite difficult. The courtyard, the lobby, the rooms were all beautifully appointed. We loved the ambiance of the entire place. Parking was a little tough, but they managed it the best they could, by valet and shuffling vehicles at times. We would absolutely stay […] here again and highly recommend it. ------ Our only complaint was the attached restaurant was so new the service was quite bad. We were forgotten / or ignored for over 25 minutes. Just getting a drink ordered took 20 minutes. Getting someone to take our food order took at least another 15 mintues. The frustrating thing was the chef was visitng people at the table next to us and never noticed we were there without food or drinks. Hmmmmm. Not good. Once we received our food it was superb. Hopefully by now they have worked out the bugs. Mehr

The amount of stairs you have to climb with your luggage is actually challenging. The room was very cold and the hot water did not work in my sink. The outdoor courtyard would be nice in the summer, but in the snow was very icy and cold. The housekeeping staff would leave door open with all the cold coming in.

We ordered a hotel for 3 occupants, requesting a deluxe suite - 3 people checked in. The hotel listed the suite as having a bedroom and a pull-out bed to accommodate the 3rd person. We checked in late and expected the room to be able to sleep all of us on our return. The girls who checked us in (red-haired rude - Am**da) was condescending, unpleasant, […] and inhospitable. When we went to bed around midnight, we realized there was no pull out bed - it was a hard sofa - there were no additional sheets or blankets and when we called for bedding, received a coarse blanket and thin sheet - no additional towels; there was no wood to burn in the fireplace therefore there was no fire - and the vents did not blow air into the front room so our friend froze through the night (no weather stripping on the door either so the air blew into the front room). There was 1 coffee mug in the entire room in the morning when we hoped for coffee. When discussing with the manager, he took no responsibility, placed all the blame back on us, and gladly gave us 1 night of parking for free. NEVER recommending this hotel simply because their staff doesn't care about the comfort of their guests and I wouldn't want my friends to judge the amazing City of Santa Fe by this hotel experience. Great price, great location, great margaritas!

Our stay at the Hotel Chimayo was absolutely perfect in every way. We arrived several hours before the check-in time, after a long drive, and were cheerfully given access to our room. The entire hotel staff was warm, welcoming, and exceedingly helpful, and we were especially impressed by the hostess and waitstaff in the hotel restaurant during our wonderful […] breakfasts. Our Junior King Suite was beautiful -- lots of natural light, a wood-burning fireplace, simply elegant southwestern furnishings, so warm and cozy we were tempted not to leave it! Everything was fresh, new and absolutely immaculate. I should mention that the location is ideal for sightseeing around Santa Fe, convenient to all f the great restaurants, museums and amazing art galleries. Hopefully we will return to Santa Fe next fall, and look forward to another stay at this wonderful hotel! Mehr

This is too high-priced a hotel for the lack of amenities. Paper cups instead of glass for the bathroom, no food service, $14/day for parking, rickety wooden staircase to the room, old tv. The plus side is the location and that the room is quiet. Santa Fe is small, so almost any location is convenient. I see no need to stay at this place again.

Excellent Staff was friendly, good location They even start a wood fire in your room if requested!

lacking a few amenities - the old straight-across shower bar that makes you fight the shower curtain and towels that stay dry while you stay wet .... but the hotel has an attractive and friendly hotel bar with excellent, inexpensive margarita's and rooms with a mini fridge and a microwave and that are attractively furnished.

Location perfect for shopping at the Plaza! Walking distance to so many shops and must see visitor sight seeing. We were lucky enough to be at the Plaza when a Fiesta was being held, lots of arts and crafts in addition to the permanent shops to view! Delightful! Would like to have an inexpensive breakfast buffet in the hotel, or a complementary continental […] breakfast would be nice, so we would not have to search outside the hotel for a less expensive breakfast option. The junior suites had spacious living areas. Comfortable beds with tons of pillows. Great location being a half block away from the plaza. Great front desk service and noon check outs!

Overall this is a great hotel and I would stay again just for the bed as it was awesome. Location is great, parking easy and it is well taken care of. The only negatives were 1) at check-in there was a note about their happy hour, we went to happy hour and the bartender had no idea what the happy hour rates were and didn't give us any type of discount […] 2) the cleaners started cleaning either upstairs or next door at 6:30 in the morning 3) they didn't have our room type ready at Check-in which we came for later than their check in time. The room they gave us was nice so not that big of deal since the only difference was no fireplace which in the summer isn't important. Again, I would recommend the hotel overall. Mehr

Tastefully decorated. Our room had crowded aspects -- bath and dressing area. Balcony really tiny. It was up two flights of steps, no elevator, so we had to use porters (we are older). The bar and restaurant were very good, for cocktails and breakfast respectively. Overall, recommendable. Great location. Fire alarm went off 4out of the 6 days that I was there. When I mentioned this to the front desk person, her response was "we didn't have to evacuate". Little comfort in that remark. Really nice front porch to sit and relax.

The rooms are quite large with a seperated living area. The rustic furnishings are mid quality. I like the fact that the room doors open out to an outdoor patio. No halls to deal with. I would recommend this hotel for people with pets and for families.

Right off the plaza, clean, comfortable and a reasonable price for downtown Santa Fe make this hotel a winner for me. This hotel deserves better than its 3-star rating. My only comments are that bathroom faucets are a bit clunky, the tv channel selection is pretty sparse and I wish the parking were free. Parking is a little tight - there are not enough spots for everyone and I was disappointed to see construction going on in the hotel on the restaurant in (May 2011) althought I never heard any noise from it. Cute courtyard - this would be a great romantic wkend. Probably not great for family getaway since no activities for kids. This is a very Santa Fe hotel with a great location right off the Plaza. No need to drive your car, a big plus, since traffic can be a pain. The staff is very friendly and helpful, charming room with a fantastic bed with nice linens. Would defintely stay there again.

The location is great, but they are in the middle of a remodel on their lobby. I am not sure but I think they have new management or owners. The room are just ok. The sofa in the king suite are just concrete banco's with cushions. Not really comfortable. The bed was good, but the vanity area is very small and not well lighted. Finally the staff was […] nice, but not above average. I would have expected more in a boutique hotel. I would recommend only at a cheap price point at this time. Mehr

Great neighborhood, wonderful rooms. Warm, rustic and super clean. Everything you need + free wifi. Wish I could have stayed longer!

Hotels.com helped me greatly as my daughter was ill and we had to cut our stay short. They refunded my money and saved me additional stress. I will book with hotels.com next time I travel and need accomodations.

The Hotel Plaza Real is an adorable hotel. It is close to everything and has all the amenities you could want. Get the junior suite. It's worth paying a little extra if you like having some extra space, a fireplace, and in some rooms your own little balcony.

I've stayed there many times. Excellent location near the Plaza. Nice facility.

We stayed on the second floor, it seemed (April 2011) there was a lot of renovating of the rooms on the first floor. That was not a problem at all. It is an older hotel, so the suite we had was a little small but comfortable. Don't expect any window views, but plenty of places to walk to and enjoy. Right across the street from the Palace of Governors, […] and the Museum (connected)...free on Friday evening! There is a lovely little park with great views about 3 blocks up the hill (north I think). Be sure to walk to the plaza and then a half a block east to a restaurant called The Shed. Of the several restaurants we visited in Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Taos this place had the best New Mexican cuisine...absolutely fantastic! About the hotel staff, we had a slight problem (our fault) we got instant, competent, and friendly help to solve it quickly. No matter who was at the desk, they were there for us 100%. Because it is an older place, elevator was slow, some wear and tear, but like I said they were constantly working on renovation. Mehr

While the location of the hotel is very convenient , we were very disappointed in the hotel itself. Renovations were going on in the hotel so there was no restaurant open (and we weren't advised), jackhammering was going on during the day and the main level was stacked with furniture, carpet etc.. Beside the fact that the bed in our room was very lumpy […] and uncomfortable, we were also woken up both mornings at 5:45 a.m. by a noisy garbage truck outside our window. All in all it was not the relaxing stay that we had imagined. Mehr

It would have been very helpful to know the hotel was going thru major renovations before booking. Construction noise all day. We could not even get wine glasses because the bar had been stripped. Large chain link fence surrounded the property, not exactly becoming. Fixtures in bathroom needed an update. Won't be staying here again. I have stayed at this hotel before and it gets better all the time. Currently the rooms are undergoing a complete rennovation to make them even more attractive and comfortable. The management of the hotel is also environmentally conscious. This hotel is ideally located , within walking distance from the Santa Fe Plaza with it's many shops and great […] restaurants. There is undeground parking available beneath the hotel for an additional daily fee which is well worth it. The grounds are extremely well kept and finishing touches on a Spring exterior paint job was just about completed. Had one minor probelm with the heat on a rather cold 27 degree morning at the beginning of our stay which was resolved immediately with the maintenance technician coming to the room right away to correct the problem. The staff is friendly and efficient. Kudos to Mike at the front desk for assigning us a room that was one of his favorites. This property has a great feel to it and I would highly reccomend the Plaza Real. Mehr
