This would be one of the best hotels we have stayed in. The staff were excellent, especially Ron, the Guest Services Manager, as well as front desk staff, and the shuttle drivers. Nothing was too much trouble and they went out of their way to help us obtain a hairdresser for me a motorcyle shop for my husband, and an extra suitcase for our shopping. […] Bed was super comfortable and we were very close to the conference we were attending at Salt Palace, plus the TRAX train system, and plenty of shops/restaurants. We will definitely stay here again. (The only downside was JB's restaurant and I'm not sure whether it belongs to the hotel or is just attached. If it's just attached it in no way impacts on the hotel. If it belongs to the hotel it lets them down with its poor customer service and less than average food.) It does not affect our excellent impression of the hotel as there are other options nearby including the Blue Lemon restaurant which is wonderful. This hotel would definitely be our first choice of accommodation in Salt Lake. Mehr

The room was clean though a bit on the small side. It was right next to the elevator but there was no noise so it wasn't a problem. The hotel's location is great. Now that the City Creek Center shopping mall has opened, it is even better. There is a tram stop right in front of the hotel so you can get anywhere downtown with relative ease. The front […] desk staff couldn't be nicer. The shuttle is convenient and the driver was very helpful. The only thing that needs improvement is the restaurant, JB's. The food is slow to come out and not that good when you get it. Mehr

Excellant accomodation. Close to all local sights. The stay has sadly allowed me to compare with comparable hotels in England/Scotland and find my own country falls short. Staff curteous and very helpful. Restuarants close by. All in all a great experience.

When I walked in I was wearing a t-shirt and levis, well the clerk at the desk was not very nice towards me. I was in those close cause I left right after working in my great aunt's garden.. I Planned on cleaning up when I arrived at the hotel. Well the place is a nice place and there were people in suits. But the clerk did not need to judge me. After […] I went to my room and cleaned up and was dressed for dinner. The clerk said well you are not just some country hick, you clean up nice. That was rude and uncalled for. At a hotel you should not care what a person looks like. Good customer care should come first. I am a nurse and I work for a corporation. i respect every one for who they are. You should never judge someone by there appearence. My dad always wore overalls, but the one company that treated him well...as a person.. with respect he bought a care from and yes he paid cash for it. So never judge someone by what they wear. They may have more money than you do. I am a tomboy at heart, but a girlly girl when I have to. Mehr

Very convenient to Family History Library. Hotel caters to genealogists. Very good accomodations.

This hotel was close to the restaurants and mall we wanted to visit.

Though our room was comfortable, my bed linen had not been changed from the guest before. When I got in my bed, there was 2 pieces of hair, one long, one very short. There was also potato chip crumbs in my bed. The other bed had hair in it too. They offered us another room but it was late & we were exhausted. The maintenance guy came & changed our bedding. […] I told the manager & I got an apology but that's it. NOTHING for the inconvenience or discontent. Would NEVER stay here ever again Mehr

The best thing about the plaza is its location, central to everything in town. The rooms are kept very clean and are equipped with all you need for comfort. Even the bed was great. Its amenities were a real surprise for the price too. Included are: access to a laundry, free access to internet with a computer/printer for printing of boarding passes, […] etc., , storage of bags for a late flight, and even a free shuttle service to the airport. All of this at a very reasonable price. What more can you ask for? Mehr

Was pleasantly surprised at how clean and quite it was and we were on the trolly side. Nice sized rooms Very convenient location to Salt Palace, New Mall and Temple.

I remember when this used to be a Howard Johnson's. It looks like the lobby area had been remodeled. The room was basically exactly the same, but the bedding and TV were updated. Furniture, not so much! The location in town makes up for the aging furniture, however! Excellent location. Half a block from Temple Square and the new fancy shopping center. […] Close to Trax, as well. There is a JB's restaurant on the premises, which also providest the room service. This is convenient. I went for meetings, and it was clean and convenient. If I was on a nice vacation, I may rethink my choice. Mehr

hotel is a little old, but there's not much choice in that price range in Salt Lake City. I was there for exhibition, the location couldn't be better, it was right next to the convention center. Trax right in front that takes you around, walking distance to the Gateway (shopping). Temple Square also situated next block, beautiful place. I will always stray here. White bedspread, so you can see it is clean. Also, kind helpful people work there.

I was very surprised how nice this was. I booked this room because of other reviews and they were right. I would recommend this to others and I will book this hotel again for me or my family. I have formally stayed in the older Little America but it was full this time and I feel that this was a lucky find!

Knowing that it was an older remodeled hotel and that the rates were much lower than the surrounding "name brand" hotels my expectations were low. But when we checked in I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel was. I do a lot of traveling and usually stay at the better known hotels and the Salt Lake Plaza was right on par in every way. And […] its convenient location to the major attractions downtown made it an exceptional value. We were able to keep our car parked in the covered parking and walk everywhere we wanted to go. Great location and most things were great.... BUT a cold shower at 9am was rather disappointing.

We usually stay at the Raddison SLC down the street, but due to construction we were recommended to the Plaza. The staff was very receptive to our needs and went out of their way to make our Christmas memorable. I don't think we will be staying at the Radisson any more!

Wonderful location, I will be back. I could walk anyplace downtown that i needed to go. If i had one complant and it is not at the hotel but the restraut that was coneceted to the hotel was not the best. Service was slow, servers were not friendly, food was prepared incorrectly.

I was surprised with how much I enjoyed this hotel. The staff was great, even gave us a discount to the garden resturant at the Joseph smith building, Get the pork chop its wonderful. Also the blue lemon was a nice find both resturants within 5 min walk. Great location nice view from the room. And surprisingly comfortable. A nice stay.

Walking distance to so many things to do, and a train station right out front. I would stay here when visiting Salt Lake even if the hotel wasn't the best! But the staff was friendly, room was clean and nice with a little more character than many hotel rooms. We had a microwave and a mini fridge in the room too. Definitely will stay here again.

Location, location, location...the Plaza is in the heart of Salt Lake City, across the street from Temple Square. The hotel is older, but not in the least shabby. The staff is quite courteous and prompt to fulfill requests...I had a blanket and a razor within ten minutes of asking. The gift shop has limited hours and there is no vending other than a […] Coke machine on each floor; so, if you want a midnight snack, you better get it at 9pm before the restaurant closes...and there aren't a plethora of restaurants around, either...so, plan ahead for food and it's all good. My room was clean. I loved that there was a microwave and fridge. It was right by the trax so I could just walk across the street and go shopping or just walk across the street and be at Temple Square. I guess the only part that I questioned - but didn't say anything - was why I had to pay for parking when I already paid for my hotel nights. Seems like […] just another way to get more money. I thought it should be free. I really did enjoy my stay though and will stay there again. Mehr

We loved our stay at this hotel. I am definitely going back!!

Make sure you book well in advance. we made the mistake of booking only a few weeks before- we thought we'd booked a room with 2 queens or king. we ended up staying in a closet size room. the bed was pushed up against the wall, facing the wall instead of the tv. we asked staff if we had the right room- thinking we got a full bed- they insisted they […] only have queen and king. they said nothing could be done, all the king rooms were taken. thank heavens we only stayed one night. the hotel and staff were great. Was very convenient to the Energy Solutions Arena...beds were very comfortable and so were the pillows

The beds were comfortable. Plenty of things to do & easy to get around. (Great Natural History Museum). Renovations continue, but we didn't notice any dirt or noise from it. It's nice to have a refrigerator and microwave in the room. We opened our "terrace"door at night with the help of maintenance & it got a bit noisy with truck noise but the air conditioner […] worked fine, if we had chosen to use that. There is a charge for guest parking, Free local Trax transportation in the downtown area. Overall positive experience. Mehr

If you want to be right in the middle of SLC, this is the place. Nice accommodations, centrally located.

Not only was the Salt Lake Plaza Hotel close to all the must-see sights; but the staff was friendly and very helpful.

I would NOT stay at this hotel again. The building was old and not well maintained. The heater did not work in our room, and the front desk clerk didn't seem to care that my newborn son was in a room with no heat. Other than the location, I was very unsatisfied.

Close to convention center and energy solutions arena plus right next to all the Mormon Temple Square places. We traveled with kids. It was fine. Hotel was clean although they are renovating starting from the 12th floor and coming down. The bathroom is a tad bit small but is clean and functional. I hope it looks more updated after they renovate. The […] parking is right there and so affordable at only five dollars a day. If you don;t have a vehicle they pick you up from the airport and the train runs right across the street. The only thing I didn't like was the housekeeping staff. They apparently only worked till noon and I understand since the hotel seemed kind of empty while we were there, I guess they had very few guests (may be better during the summer months?). With little children plus one that got sick during the trip, it was hard getting out of the room early enough and they kept knocking and finally one day the said they had to leave and if we wanted our rooms cleaned they needed to do it then... well needless to say we rushed out of the room forgetting tons of items we needed throughout the day (like diaper wipes!, etc) so I didn't appreciate that NOR the fact that when I tried to talk to one of these ladies, some could NOT understand english nor I could understand whatever they where trying to pass as "english". They need to be more strict with their housekeeping team to accomodate the clients not the other way around. Mehr

I was concerned because this is an older hotel and I thought it would be slightly rundown. To my surprise, the rooms were beautiful, well kept and nicely decorated. The location of this hotel is so convienient to downtown SLC and all the activities there, we will gladly stay again. Thank you.

To say this is convenient is an understatement, it is right next door to the Family History Library. Unfortunately, the only food option in the JB's next door, but that is acceptable. There are other choices in the neighborhood.

Extremely thoughtful and efficient staff. Room was very clean and I can't say enough about the location. Close to great resturants, shopping and especially Temple Square.

This hotel is a great location for people who are in Salt Lake to go to the Family Search Library. The building is dated but well taken care of and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

The Salt Lake Plaza is a slightly older hotel property in great condition, well staffed, and in the core of SLC - adjacent to Temple Square, accross the street from the Salt Place Convention Center and Symphony Hall, and one block up from the Energy Solutions ( former Delta Center ) Area - home to the Utah Jazz & concert venue.
