Royal Eagle Hotel - London

Wir waren mit dem Hotel sehr zufrieden, gerade für einen Kurztrip passt das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Die Zimmer sind recht klein, aber mehr als ausreiechend. die Badezimmer war super, die Zimmer sauber. Bis zur U-Bahn Paddington sind es zu Fuß nur 5min, die Lage ist damit super.

Dieses Hotel hat eine hervorragende Lage! Sehr kurzer Weg zur nächsten U-Bahn Station (Paddington), man ist schnell im Hyde-Park und in nächster Umgebung gibt es alles was man braucht. Die Zimmer sind sehr klein (wir waren zu dritt da), aber ausreichend. Vor allem sehr sauber und ohne Teppichboden. Der einzige Wermutstropfen: Bei den Services des Hotels […] steht, das es Parken gegen Gebühr gibt. Dem ist leider nicht so. Das Hotel verfügt über keine eigenen Parkplätze und in der Umgebung ist entweder Anwohner-Parken oder max. 4 stündiges parken an sündhaft teuren Parkuhren möglich. Ich konnte ein Parkhaus finden (1,5 km entfernt), das mit 24 Pfund (27,50 EUR) pro Tag zu buche schlug. Dies sollte man mit einkalkulieren, wenn man mit dem Auto anreist. Alles in allem waren wir sehr zufrieden mit dem Hotel. Mehr

Das Hotel ist gut gelten, man ist schnell bei den Segenwuerdigkeiten. Der Empfang war freundlich, die Zimmer sauber, das Bad etwas eng - aber alles in allem empfehlenswert.

Das Hotel in London war klein,aber gemütlich., Sehr nette und hilfsbereite Leute. Die Lage war ideal und praktisch.Wir haben U Bahn Station in der Nähe gehabt. Die ganze Reise war schön.

Das Hotelzimmer war sehr klein und ringhörig. Auch bei geschlossenem Fenster, dachte man, dass es offen ist.

Das Hotel hat wirklich eine super Lage. Sehr nahe zu 2 Metro-Stationen (Lancaster Gate und Paddington). V.a. die Nähe zur Station Lancaster Gate scheint mir ideal, da diese an der Central Line liegt, die direkt an die Oxford Street bzw. in unmittelbare Nähe zu anderen Shopping Meilen fährt. Haben das Hotel über die Version "best available" Room gebucht. […] Haben wohl nicht das beste Zimmer erhalten. Sehr klein, machte auch einen etwas "verbrauchten" Eindruck (viele kleine Mängel, Risse im Boden, Bad mit vielen Flecken und anderen Mängeln). Aber für Wochenendtrips mit geringen Ansprüchen auf jeden Fall geeignet. V.a. für die männliche Kundschaft, die wahrscheinlich weniger Ansprüche an die Sauberkeit etc. stellt, ideal. Personal ist hilfsbereit, aber manchmal hatte ich das Gefühl, dass sie selbst der englischen Sprache noch weniger mächtig sind als ich selbst :) Mehr

I satyed in number of hotels but diffrenet cities across but this is my worst experience. Receptionist was not friendly as what you would expect. He was rude person. Condition of my room was very bad. It required new paint etc. Very small room, not at all suitable for 2 person for the price I paid. TV set was looking like that I am living in 80's. Very […] old 14" TV with few channels.The worst part of my experience is that drainage system of shower water was not working and I had to wait for 2 minutes for the water to drainage. The only good of this hotel is that it was close to Paddington station. Mehr

Hotellet er generelt i fin stand. Man får dog den luxus man betaler for, og ikke meget mere. Hotellet egner sig rigtig godt til personer som vil nyde nogle gode dage i London og ikke på hotelværelset. Hotellet er beliggende tæt på to attraktive undergrund-stationer, Paddington og Lancaster, hvorfra man kan komme til alle dele af London.

Good hotel, good location, but very small rooms.

We arrived early and they didn't have a place to hold our bags. Showers are very small. It wasn't bigger than my hands full extended. I know London hotel rooms are small but they gave the word small a new definition. Tiny is more like it.

The hotel is about a 5 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower which was great. If you look out of the window, you can see it from the small balcony. The bus and train lines was less than 2 blocks away. Also, there are several restaurants within a few blocks and the environment was safe. The twin bed room that we stayed was small as compared to rooms in the […] United States. While we were in the room, we were not able to listen to the TV in English. The breakfast was continental and was very pricey however, the complimentary coffee was enjoyable. The hotel was very quaint but the folks at the desk were very helpful. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. Mehr

No hot water Hard pillows Smells of smoke in a non-smoking toom Phone doesn’t work and front desk staff did not care. No electricity by beds. Made me move my own furniture. Very unhelpful front desk staff.

When we checked in, we were told that we have been "credited" with a room for three persons instead of a double room. The room was very small, and for a guy 193 cm tall, it was challenging to move around without bumping into somehting. There was one bed on the ground floor, but it was almost impossible to access and was tucked in under the rickety stairs […] leading to the falder. The falder contained a double bed, a small closet and a mirror. It was probably between 35 to 40 degress on the falder, and we could not adjust the heating. Luckily we found two small fans in the closet. They were probably not put there by coincidence. The room is so small, that we had problems to find a place to put our small/mediumsize suitcases. The bathroom is probably re-furbished recently, and is quite ok. A person with a medium+ size butt would probably face some problems manouvring into the small spot where the toilet is placed.. Checkout time is as early as 11:00 am. After checking out, we asked the reception staff to take care of our suitcases for a few hours. They seemed somewhat reluctant to do this, but put the suitcases in a luggage room after a short hesitation. Mehr

Basic and cheap; only concern was the length of the bed but then I am tall.

The hotel is very ordinary - like most in this area that live on location rather than anything else! Except sligthly smaller rooms. Slightly smaller beds Slightly crappier internet Slightly worse breakfast Slightly poorer service

The location on this hotel is great, it is very close to Paddington Station. The neighborhood is decent and seemed very safe. The room I stayed in was extremely small ( too small). The bathroom was tiny, you could wash your face cause the sink was so small. I could hear everything that was going on the hall and the other rooms.

Bed outside my room next to lift when I arrived and still there the day I left!

Location: This hotel is at a very convenient and central location. Easy to find from the paddington tube and rail station as well as lancaster tube station. Commuting to other locations from here is very easy. Stay: Since we were here just for a night, wouldn't know much about the services provided here. But the room was clean and tidy, internet connectivity […] was also available on request. It's seems to have been refurbished recently which is evident. The rooms are a bit small. Slightly noisy as it's right on the road. Other than that, it's a good steal for the price they offer. Mehr

I wanted a reasonably priced hotel near Hyde Park. This was just a stroll away from both Paddington station & Hyde Park. The room was tiny (expected per previous English stays) and overall clean. However, our bathroom had absolutely no ventilation as this hotel is an older building, steamed up immediately (and stayed that way until we opened the window) […] and smelled moldy. I saw little bits of it towards the top of the shower. Staff was very friendly the first day, but I was foolish enough to pay the 30 pound weekly fee for their wireless internet which only worked 3 of the 5 days I tried to use it. Upon checkout, they still charged me 25 pounds (it's typically 10/day) which I thought was outrageous when you consider just $30, let alone pounds, is a month's worth of internet in the states. Aside from that, I have no qualms with the place really. There's a great Italian restaurant just a block away & the tube stop's maybe 2-3 blocks straight up the road. Not bad at all. Mehr

Alas, hotels in London are expensive (or over-priced depending on your point of view). If you want no frills in Central London then this hotel serves its purpose. Clean enough with very small rooms, if you don't expect much then you won't be disappointed!

Very good basic hotel in an excellent location. Very happy with quality of room, which was well decorated and very clean. The only point I would make fellow travellers aware of is that our room was quite small. This did not bother us as we only wanted a place to sleep at a good price, and the Royal Eagle more than met our expectations!

We got upgraded to a tripple room and got no.: 220 which turned out to be a room with a staircase inside and a single bed at the floor and a twin bed above in which it was approx. 45 degrees celsius. Never seen a staircase like that inside a hotelroom before. Other than that allright bathroom incl. shampoo and shower but should have been a regular two-bed […] double room. Mehr

This hotel is in a good location in London, with easy access to the Underground and Heathrow Airport. Excellent rates in comparision to other hotels in London. The rooms were basic, but nice with attached bathrooms. I would stay here again. Really nice, quiet neighbor with a number of other hotels in the area.

Hotel conveniently located very near to Paddington station. Rooms are small but clean and comfortable. We would not prefer a basement room if it is possible. It was quite a problem to off load our luggage from our rented car as we have to park by the side of the busy road. Overall it has been a satifactory experience. Nice hotel. The hotel staff is friendly, but seem a bit new in the game. Nice clean, newly restored rooms. Nice breakfast area, although the breakfast is kind of disappointing at the price point. 5 min walk from Paddington Station makes it a convenient place to stay. Since the hotel is relatively newly restored, they didn't yet have a luggage store […] room when I was visiting. This was dissapointing since it's really expensive to store luggage at Paddington Station. Mehr

If you decide to stay here bring earplugs, alarm clock, and your own pillows. Convenient location near paddington station and the original tour on/off bus stop. Rock hard bed an pillows, I'm 5'2" and my toes were hanging off the bed! Small but clean room so if you're just there to sleep it's not too bad, not sound proof at all I could hear the man in […] the room next to us snoring so bring earplugs or you'll be up all night. Never got wake ups so bring alarm clock if you have early tours Mehr

Good location close to Paddington, very basic hotel, but clean and functional! We got a "downstairs" room which was a first (and not highlighted during the booking), but it was OK! Good value for Money at roughly the price of a good theatre ticket per night!

The location of the hotel is the only advantage for this hotel. Many guests complained about the room sizes (I couldn't even use the ironing board!), and I had broken taps, TV's, dirty room, bad & unhelpful staff, very expensive internet... The hotel is beautiful on the outside and nicely decorated. Staff is helpful and friendly. Only beefs are that they charge for the WiFi and the room I got was seriously small. Very nice, but small.

My room was in the lower ground level (read basement), and was very basic. Avoid room B1. It is right in front of elevator and right below the lobby's wood floor, so you hear footsteps well into the evening. TV was small (12") with just 5 channels. Key advantage of hotel is location, location, location. 2 blocks from paddington station so easy access […] for heathrow express and tube. If you don't plan on spending much time in room, and you just need an accessible hotel at a reasonable price this could be a good choice. Mehr

We shared a triple room which made it a little cramped but the beds were extremely comfortable and the shower worked really well. That is what I like.

If you wont a real feel for London this is a great spot. We loved Paddington Station spent lots of time there just getting our bearings for the City....really a great start for us. we took the underground and train form this location - so cool - would stay here again. ask for a room in the back -and have a GREAT dinner at the Italian Restaurant just […] down the street- all Italians in front & in the kitchen! seems the hotel staff was learning how to handle a guest, like it was their first day on the job. we had a corner room that was very clean,freshly painted and larger than alot of hotel rooms in the uk,but the hallways were in bad need of cleaning/painting. reviews were terrible for this hotel and was expecting the worst but i would stay again wish they […] had a full shower curtain as again i got everything wet, course i do that everywhere they have that little screen-useless great location Mehr

The hotel had been refurbished and so everything was clean and enjoyable. Hotel was easy to find and close to Paddington Station for Heathrow link. The shower head was really big, the shower was really small but functional and we didn't know how to lift the plug in the handbasin. Latest technology had us baffled. Best of all we could open the window […] as the room was hot with unseasonal warm weather. Don't actually know if the room was airconditioned. This hotel is poor compared to others in Paddington for the same price. Look around before booking, rooms are in need of maintenance from floor to bathroom, rooms really hot no AC.

Room was fine, although the bathroom could use some touching up. Tub area definitely needed some re-caulking. Price for internet was a bit outrageous. Decided to go without.

The room was extremely small and I wish that we had been informed of this before we booked. When we asked to changed the room we were told that all the rooms were more or less the same size. If so, something has gone wrong in the planning stage. It is almost impossible to unpack/pack in the limited space, and this creates stress spoiling an otherwise […] pleasant stay. The corridors are dirty- no one has cleaned the woodwork for a long time, and this creates an unpleasant impression. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay. Mehr

This is a great place to stay especially if you are coming in from Heathrow. It is in a quiet and safe neighborhood with lots of cafes. The room was nice and spacious and had a great balcony view.

Room and bathroom was exceptionally small and staff were not helpful at all when we asked them to fix a faulty toilet that would not flush properly during our stay. They also did not accomodate guests asking to store luggage at the hotel before or after check-out to enable them to sightsee while room was being prepared for their stay.

We stayed at the Royal Eagle for 2 nights in May at the beginning of our trip, then again for 1 night at the end. We were flying between JFK and London Heathrow. The hotel is in a great location, we walked to restaurants, Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens - took a train from Heathrow to Paddington and walked 2 blocks to hotel. We used the underground to […] get to St. Pancras for a train to Paris. We hopped on a bus and went to Buckingham Palace - a short distance. The rooms are small but updated, staff was friendly. Best price in the area that I could find for a clean and comfortable room. Hotel has a lift, worst thing is that they do not have a place to hold luggage for you - so plan accordingly. On our orginal arrival - we were at the hotel by 9am, by 10:30 - they had a room available and allowed us to check in early. They charge 10pounds a day for internet - but with the room price - it doesn't make any difference. We were surprised that any hotel would charge for internet - but evidently not unusual in London. This was badly overpriced. I was 'upgraded' to a room with three twin beds and a double, but the double was up a spiral staircase from the entrance and bathroom. The twin bed I slept on instead sagged badly. There is no luggage room, so you can't leave bags there on arrival or check-out. The very narrow hallways are badly scuffed and a bit shabby. […] There are stairs between the elevators/lifts and many rooms. The only advantage is that it's close enough to Paddington that you can wheel your bags straight from the Heathrow Express. Mehr
