Everglades Hotel - Londonderry

great hotel staff worderful ,food top class

25 min walk to city walls. Hotel service was good. Hotel was very quiet. Sad that WIFI is not free - expensive add on at £6 for 90 mins (£10 for 24 hours)

I stayed midweek at the Everglades in early October 2011. The room was very comfortable and clean. The bar is welcoming, with staff who were attentive without being intrusive. On the downside, the restaurant is expensive for what's delivered and the food I had wasn't all that special; wine in particular is wickedly over priced. I was on a room only […] basis and was told in the morning that the buffet cooked breakfast was £16, little short of scandalous. The surrounding area doesn't seem to have any alternative restaurants, but as I arrived late and left early the next morning I can't say for sure what alternatives there are in the area. Very good value for money. Food very nice had crab salad for starter and rip eye steak for main and shared a bootle of wine with my girlfriend £15 each. Staff very friendly.

First time booking a room in Everglades with Hotels.Com and was very disappointed. The room I was allocated was very dark, bulbs in lights not working and extremely unclean and dusty. I have stayed in Everglades on several occasions and rooms perfect. However, will not recommend booking with Hotels.com to anybody. EXCELLENT HOTEL AND STAFF ARE SO PROFESSIONAL, FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE. FOOD COULD BE BETTER IN GRILL BAR AS IT IS QUITE EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT YOU GET. BREAKFAST ALSO VERY EXPENSIVE WHICH BRINGS OVERALL PRICE UP.SUNDAY THIS WOULDN'T STOP US STAYING THERE AS IT IS THE BEST HOTEL IN DERRY AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN.

Late booking for the Derry Jazz Festival, and therin ended up paying a little more for the Room than Planned! However, was a Gem, and although the location meant Taxis adding another 20 pounds to the stay, it was a nice quiet location, with good service and staff. Little problem on a warm night such as the windows wouldn't stay open, (No Air Con I could […] see), but otherwise very pleasant. By the way the food in the Restaurant was top class, even though we were a little late getting there. Recommended. Mehr

The staff was extremely helpful, especially Tina. The room was not air conditioned but the staff brought a fan which worked better than some of the air conditioning in other hotels we stayed at.

Excellent hotel in great location, overlooking the beautiful River Foyle. Excellent service and conditions in beautiful room. Stafff couldn't be more helpful. Short driver to Derry city centre, and then only about 30 minutes drive to the most beautiful Inishowen peninsula including Moville, Malin Head, Greencastle, Carndonagh and Ballyliffin and Culdaff. […] Lovely spot - will definitely return to the Everglades Hotel. The Everglades--with its American jazz motifs--is a perfectly good hotel and reasonable value for money. However, I wouldn't recommend staying there if you're not driving. There's nothing within walking distance and about the only way to get to and from Derry's CBD is by car or taxi. On the other hand, there aren't many hotel options in the town center. […] Since I had a car, I could drive into the center in 5-10 minutes and park in the multi-story carpark attached to the Foyleside shopping center. If you stay there, try to get a rate that includes breakfast. Mehr

The Everglades is a reasonably upscale hotel that's about a 10-minute drive from the center of Derry. With a car, it's not an inconvenient place to stay, although you can't walk to anything. Without a car, staying there would be a problem. The buffet breakfast was excellent but the hotel and I had a disagreement about whether it was included in my room […] rate. At check-in, I was told it was included; at check-out, I was told it wasn't. There are two hotels in or near the center of Derry, but driving to and from them, and parking near by, would be a problem. There are convenient multi-story parking garages adjoining the Foyleside shopping center which abuts the old city walls, which is fine if you're prepared to spend $7 or more to park for the day. On balance, the Everglades is a good choice and reasonable value for money. Mehr

The room was comfortable & clean. Found the bar staff disinterested-took 10 minutes to get a drink on Friday night when there were only about 10 people in the bar & 3 barpeople!!!! There was a wedding both days which definitely was the staff's priority. Only £4 for taxi into Derry city so while a bit out of the city it's easliy accessible.

The hotel was nice, our room faced the street which was fine except when window was open. It was a little outside of town, a car was very helpful.
