Das hotel ist wirklich toll und man fühlt sich bei dem netten Personal wirklich willkommen! Wenn man aber bedenkt, dass es ein 4* Hotel ist, fallen die staubbedeckten Oberflächen im Zimmer schon auf. Durch die Lage direkt an der Straße ist es auch nachts sehr laut. Wenn man aber wie wir einfach direkt los läuft um diese großartige Stadt zu erkunden, […] ist das hotel trotzdem perfekt! Wir haben uns pudelwohl gefühlt und man schaut dann auch mal über ein bisschen Staub hinweg. Mehr

Das Hotel könnte für einen Kurzurlaub nicht besser liegen. Sehr guter und schneller Service. Sehr empfehlenswert. Vom Frühstückspersonal bin ich hinsichtlich Freundlichlichkeit und Schnelligkeit sehr beindruckt.

Ein altes Hotel , perfekt gelegen, mit gutem freundlichem Servive. Das Zimmer sauber, etwas klein. Einziger wirklicher Negativpunkt; die Klimaanlage funktioniert nicht wirklich und die Fenster lassen sich nicht öffnen

Das Zimmer auf die Strassenseite war sehr laut (Strassenlärm, Betrunkene). Wir mussten nach einer Nacht wechseln.

Cons: a little outdated, hard to get housekeeping to come back after 10am. Pros: perfect location, super friendly staff, spacious rooms (and I had a great view of Arthur's Seat)

Overall a great location, good breakfast buffet. Very noisy from 2:30 to 4:00 am. After the pubs closed if you were facing royal mile or parts of North bridge.good access to Waverly station.

I love this hotel! The location is very convenient very near Edinburgh Waverley station and near to everything, Princes street is only few minutes walk, also Calton hill. Great location,very close to shops and the castle.Staff are very helpful.The bar is very comfortable and bar staff very cheerful.Room was a little tired but clean,bed and sheets very good.Only bad thing about room was it needed a good vacuum maybe they need to invest in some new machines.

We totally enjoyed our stay. The location was great, the price reasonable, and the staff terrific. My only recommendation would be to improve the breakfast. Also, the cleanliness of the room could be improved. It could be partially because the decor is pretty old, but the bathroom floors especially never seemed clean.

We were satisfied with the overall stay. We were unfortunate enough to be put in a room that looked directly down an ally that had a club. The noise was horendous and lasted till 4am!! The room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was good!

Location of this hotel is excellent, minutes walk from train station, shops and restaurants. Public rooms (foyer and bar) are very modern and well decorated however the rooms are in need of an upgrade and neither our nor our friends bathrooms looked clean. The pool area is also in need of an upgrade with what looked like mould on the walls and a canopy […] over the pool roof (guessing to stop the roof mould falling on the pool). The shower room at the pool doesn't even have hooks to hang your towel on!! To end the stay, breakfast was ok however water was pouring from the ceiling air conditioning so they had to turn it off, leaving only 1 small fan in the room and making the heat unbearable. There are plenty of hotels in the area to choose from - don't pick this one! Mehr

Great location - very close to train station. Service was excellent in the breeakfast area and Bar. Only con was rooms were too warm - setting of registers took 2 days to cool down with the windows open.Definitely stay their again

This trip was a 3 night stay for myself,my wife and our 10 year old granddaughter Sophie. Sophie chose the Hotel after being impressed by a photograph of the Carltons beautiful staircase (we agreed with her choice as it seemed good value for money )! The location next to Waverly station was a definite plus and many of the visitor attractions are within […] easy walking distance. We used the pool in the hotel every day and it was excellent and there are many more leisure facilities available if the pool is not your thing. Breakfasts were fantastic with a vast range of foods to suit any dietary need and the staff were very friendly,helpful and efficient. In fact every employee we came across from maintenance to management could not have been more friendly and efficient. Our room was quite spacious and contained everything we needed.Cleanliness was first class.We would definitely use this hotel for future visits. Mehr

We stayed here for 3 nights over the easter weekend. We stayed at the front of the hotel and it was so noisy at night we didnt sleep till after 5. We asked to be moved the next day but all the rooms were full. We were finally moved the last night but then the fire alarm went off at half 3 in the morning and we were all evacuated. Didnt get much sleep […] over the 3 nights but its a nice hotel, lovely pool and spa and smack bang beside everything. Moral of the story request a room at the back! Mehr

I have stayed in Travel Lodges with bigger better rooms with more comfortable beds at less than half the price. This is not worth the money, it's a rip-off and they think they can get away with it just because of its location.The smell of chlorine from the pool is everywhere in the Hotel. The time changed to daylight savings while we were staying at the hotel. We were from the US and no idea about when this happens in the UK. We missed our train as a result. It would have really been nice if the hotel had notified guests or put up a sign at check out, or done something to let us know.When the fire alarm went off at 4 AM, it was nice […] that you had made arrangements with the nearby Raddison to get us out of the zero degree weather on the street. The hotel is very close to what you to see in Edinburgh but this also comes at a price if not in Pounds in the overall age of the hotel rooms and especially the noise level. Our room faced North Bridge which the views were great but at 2am until 3am the noise level outside woke us every night we stayed. Next time will probably stay at a different hotel. […] If you choose this place it is an icon but request a room that faces opposite the front of the hotel. Mehr

Friendly staff and good overall service, although my bathroom let the hotel down for me. The shower had weak water pressure and the bathroom could do with redecorating.

We arrived at 8am and check-in wasn't until 3pm. We went to see if they could hold our luggage while we explored the city and they said you can have your room now. What a great surprise after a long flight from the states. The room was very clean and the staff was very friendly and informative.

it was bitter weather outside and everytime we went into the lift or to the foyer the wind and cold blasted in. The room was reasonably warm but because of overnight maintenance there was no hot water during the night. The bar was reasonable but with little atmosphere. The restaurant was excellent both for breakfast and dinner. My starter of haggis […] and neeps was the best I have had in Edinburgh and the home made chips were well worth the effort of making them. The hotel is in a great location with quick and easy access to Edinburgh Waverley Station and Princes Street/The Royal Mile. The staff were suburb and we couldn't fault the service in anyway. Breakfast was great. The Health club is tired but for an overnight stay this is a really good choice.

Very nice hotel. Great selection for breakfast fruit, cereals, fry up juices etc. Brilliant location close to the Castle and lots of great restaurants and pubs within walking distance. Only issue while there was the noise. Our room was to the front of the hotel and could hear traffic and people on the street as if we were out on the street with them. […] Overall though a lovely hotel, unfortunately we didnt have time to use the spa facilities. The rooms are spacious,and it is in an accessible place. I particularly like the toilet as it has a heating bar where you can dry your wet clothes or towel overnight

Double glazing would be nice as was rather loud outside and could hear everything but understand as it is situated in a central location which is lovely
