our stay at hotel melia was a very nice expirence until the last night of our stay when i had an argument with the valet attendance, name pablo, he refuese to lift the control arm at the area of parking, perhaps thinking i was not going to give a tip,shame on him it did ruine my evening/ thank you

When I'm in Santo Domingo for business purposes Melia Hotel is always a good choice. This time I reserved a Junior Suite but they upgraded me to a full suite. The service was outstanding. One regret : to be there only for one night !

Hotel personnel were very polite. Hotel room was good but they originally put us in a room for persons with physical disabilities. Did not really care until it came time for a shower. The shower head was hanging down. So if I wanted to sit in the tub and take a shower, okay. When we advised the front desk, they apologized and changed our room immediately. But no compensation other than that! They also failed to tell us about the 2 for 1 breakfast, which was included in our rate (we were unaware), until our last day.

Pool is huge and nice quality. Beds were good. Restaurant was good , but expensive. Service was excellent. Front desk was very good and helpful.

I got to the Hotel with a friend, we each had a reservation. Me a deluxe room, him a standard room. They quickly upgraded him to deluxe at no charge. As for me, they couldnt find me a room what was non smoking and had internet. The guy gave me a handicaped room and told me to go see it, if I dont like it theyll change it for me. After visiting it, it looked normal only the shower tub was surrounded with rails. I took it. When I went inside the tub to shower, I realized the shower head was the flexible type with nothing to hold it still. Very uncomfortable to shower... Anyhow, next morning I asked to change rooms and they quickly accomodated me. Rooms were clean and Ok for a 3 1/2 star hotel. The only thing I hated was again the shower, the shower pressure was very low, could not fill the tub in time for the water to stay hot it was so low... and it is the same in both rooms I tried, so I guess it's like that in all rooms.

The room wasn't too extravagant but, the premier service was nice. The happy 2 hours upstairs, away from the lobby and the breakfast in the morning was top notch. Would definately stay there again.

the service was excelllent, everybody was nice and answered all our questions. We specially liked the breakfast buffet, many choices of fruit, cakes and the other more usual courses.

You will not find a better hotel for the price! The staff was friendly, Convenient location near the 'Colonial District' and near other hotels and restaurants, amenities were great (pool, gym, restaurant, lobby). My only complaint is that the room was serviced late in the day. This hotel will be my home everytime I visit Santo Domingo and I highly recommend it to you!

Had some problems with internet connection in my room. Was a little bit supprised that I was charged for coffee in my room while sign in my room said "free coffee"..a small thing but irritating..Breakfast downstairs was very good. Personnel did speak good english and thats important as my spanish is poor..

Room was not cleaned but twice in a twelve day stay. They only made the bed and refolded our wet towells. We had to "ration" the toilet paper because we were never sure if we were going to get more. We ran out of kleenex on the second day and never got more until day 10. The hallway floor was filthy as well. We kept asking for washcloths and only got a stack of towells. We had one washcloth the entire 12 day stay. Four of the days we had NO washcloths. They tried to charge us for the prior guests' opening of a can of peanuts in the minibar (even after I informed them about it); however, we eventually resolved this with the front desk staff. The front desk staff, security, and porters were EXCEPTIONAL!!

We had a brief stay, but we always go back to this hotel everytime we visit the capital city. The staff is courteous and professional. The location of the hotel is great. The taxi service is efficient. I highly recommend the breakfast, it should not be missed.

This hotel is nothing extravagent or extraordinary. You walk into the lobby which is pretty clean but smells like cigarette smoke. The rooms are outdated...not modern at all. And the overall service, is simply "okay", not good or great. If you want a GOOD hotel in this area go for the Intercontinental V Centenario instead!!!

You can't beat this hotel for the price. The hotel was across from the Caribbean. The room was clean with sheets changed each day. The hotel restaurant was great. Their breakfast buffet offered both traditional breakfast as well as local cuisine. It was within a 20 minute walk to the colonial city.

I'm from the DR, I was alone at the hotel, I was harassed by the Security guards, asking me if I was a guest in that hotel, it wasn't anything as for "security", just because I was a woman, Dominican, and traveling alone. The swimming pool needs attention, as well, not well maintain. I didn't feel welcome there.. I have to say something good about this hotel, the restaurant service and the food was good, and the guys from the swimming pool were very attentive. My advise for this people "money doesn't have a face" and is not estrange now that we go to a hote
